SO GOOD! I was gifted a small round white cake w white buttercream frosting from this---a purist's delight. This cake was THE BEST cake, THE BEST buttercream with no odd mouthfeel, only pure moist but not gooey deliciousness. I've paid $100 for a cake like this but this cake was far less expensive. My partner and I finished the whole cake in 24 hours(meant to serve 8). This is where I will get all the cakes I need for celebrations. I'm past the age of posting pics of the food I eat but I reassure you, any cake lover will not be able to resist eating way more than you mean to and be happy you did!

First time trying so I wasn’t sure if it was an off day but the food was really disappointing. The lemon bar had a really strange metallic initial taste to it like it had spoiled somehow, the snickerdoodles had a subtle floral taste as if hand lotion got mixed into the dough, and the other baked goods were just generally very bland and dry. When it comes to sweets I’m not usually very picky at all so this really surprised me. The staff were really friendly and helpful but I couldn’t see myself returning.

Being apart for my boyfriend's birthday, I ordered a cake at "a girl named pinky" as a surprise. Tina was very nice, responsive and flexible. In the end, she offered a free delivery when his plans changed in order not to spoil the surprise. And apparently the chocolate raspberry cake was super delicious. Thank you very much!

I had the carrot cake. It was soooo good. Delicously moist and stayed light, unlike some carrot cakes. And the cream cheese frosting was perfect. Now, I'm ready to explore the rest of the menu.

Yelp
Pinky is THE woman!! I was blown away with her perfect homemade lemon bar. It wasn't too sweet, you can taste the fresh Meyer lemon in the custard, and that thick buttery crust did me in. I was close to ordering a few more to-go. A treat that everyone initially refused because they were "too full" was instantly devoured by said persons because I couldn't stop raving about it. Pinky was the sweetest and offered to cut my lemon bar to share with fam and she gave a pink napkin to go with her name/shop theme. Adorable. Pinky's dessert shop is located in Emeryville's public market and the display showcases cupcakes, cookies, brownies, macarons, lemon bars, and the cutest cake pops you've ever seen. I was too late but you get a free macaron upon check-in so don't sleep on it! Next time, I need to make sure I leave more tummy room to try the rest of Pinky's offerings! Also, she makes custom cakes and does catering!

Yelp
Love all these home cooking kind of sweets. Sometimes you just crave simple comfort ingredients instead of pastry ingredients like cardamom and beet juice! Brownies are a definite must here. Brownies: These are exactly how brownies should be. Rich and gooey on the bottom with a light crust on top. Came in a package of four, but I could only eat one in a given sitting since they're so filling. Not fancy schmancy or anything, just a classic done very well. Oreo Mini Cake: A long oval of cake that feels like more cake than a cupcake and you can eat it with a fork. The Oreo taste was rather subtle with a few bits mixed into the yellow cake, so it was hard to notice. The frosting had more bits and kinda reminded me of cookies & cream ice cream. A fun way to say you ate a whole cake by yourself! Cake Pop: Looked like a mini ice cream cone. Tasted just ok though, with cake underneath the chocolate shell tasting more pasty than cakey. I'd recommend the mini cake instead. Red Velvet Mini Cake: Seeing how Red Velvet is one of my favorite cakes, it was hard to pass on this on. Definitely did not disappoint with the rich red cake base and the creamy thick frosting. I like the mini cake design since it's a lot more portable than a cake slice. Carrot Cake Jar: Ok, if you like frosting then this is for you! It looks like one of those healthy jar salads, until you get a closer look to see that the layers are just cake chunks of frosting. Much better in my opinion. And the frosting layers seem a lot more generous than on a normal cake, so get ready for that. Lemon Bars: Huge curd-to-crust ratio, just the way I like it. So much so that it might fall apart in your hands, so better to eat with a fork. Strong lemony taste without getting that curd funk aroma that sometimes happens, so really well executed.

Yelp
Couldn't be more happier! Thank you so much for making this cake for my mom . She absolutely loved it and it was the cherry on top after taking her to the Snoopy Museum. It brought her a smile and a nice early birthday surprise . Cake was colorful, tasteful and the buttercream was lovely 10/10 . Will be ordering again .

Yelp
My apologies to Tina for not giving her the 5-star review that's due! I discovered A Girl Named Pinky (now Cake Boutique) about 4 years ago when she had a pop-up in Old Oakland...eye-catching desserts with a very welcoming and friendly customer service. She is so personable that we chatted about her starting out...not sure if she remembers me! ;) I've had the COOKIES - amazing! :: Chocolate chip with sea salt - not overly sweet, nice crispness yet chewy! :: Ginger - nice flavor and chewiness and topped with a coarse sugar for texture...yummers CUPCAKES - yes! :: Delicious cookie and cream and a wonderful vanilla cupcake with lemon curd. I'm not big on overly sweet desserts or globs of frosting and A Girl Named Pinky Cake Boutique does it right with the right ratio of sweetness! I'm all about supporting small business but if you don't have the right combo of a good product as well as a welcoming atmosphere... then it's a hard pass! Tina is talented and her personality shows thru in her delicious and pretty desserts that I'm definitely a fan. Congrats to Tina on the new location at the Public Market in Emeryville ! Stop....by...A Girl Named Pinky Cake Boutique as it will satisfy your sweet tooth!

Yelp
I recently ordered a quarter sheet cake from A Girl Named Pinky Cake Boutique for my birthday party. Tina made me a delicious chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream filling, decorated to fit my party theme. The cake was tasty, my party guests gave it rave reviews, and I'm continuing to enjoy the leftovers. It's hard to beat A Girl Named Pinky for a yummy cake delivered to your door at a competitive price. I am docking a star for a couple reasons. I was hoping to get on a call with Tina to discuss the cake I wanted to order, but found that difficult to do. She was responsive to my emails and got back to me within a day, and I was eventually able to get on a call with her to discuss my cake design and various questions. When I received the cake, I saw that a key part of my requested icing was omitted. I emailed Tina to let her know that I was disappointed about this, and she promptly responded and offered to come back to my place before my party started to add the missing icing decoration. I took her up on this offer, and she came back at our agreed upon time, and made sure my cake decoration was fixed in time for my party. I really appreciate that Tina came back to address the icing issue.

Yelp
I was gifted a moist, delicious, and flavorful pure vanilla white birthday cake by Pinky. This beautiful cake had THE MOST delectable pure white vanilla buttercream frosting I've ever tasted. As an expert eater and white cake purist, I know white cakes are always the most disappointing. White cake is typically dry and/or flavorless, and the (supposedly) buttercream frosting always has some weird under- or aftertaste that leaves a film on one's lips. That's why most bakers will insist on a 'filling' (yech!) to offset the fake cake flavor. Tina---I am a client forever. My cake-loving family and I will include Pinky at every celebration. I cannot wait to try every other creation! I don't post photos of my food and honestly, it could do no justice to this cake. It's good looks were nearly ignored because it was so yummy.

Yelp
We just had this cake today for my daughters 10yr birthday. OH my goodness the cake was perfect not only on the outside but the inside was just BEAUTIFUL!!!!!AND it tasted amazing!!!! The girls just loved the cake and it was exactly what we were looking for! The design was perfect!! The taste was so good and sweet but not overpowering. The texture of the cake was light and moist not heavy or too thick. I don't think we have ever had a cake this perfect all the way around. Many places use fondant to cover the entire cake a certain color from our experience, so this was just wonderful as it was all done with buttercream. This is from here on out our new go to Cake spot!

Yelp
Hand's down - the BEST bakery in SF! Tina is lovely and incredible to work with. She delivered delicious customize treats to a dinner party with 3-days notice. From start to finish, an absolute professional who went above and beyond to make my event special. Thank you!

Yelp
I ordered 1000 cookies from Tina for our offices International Women's Day Celebration earlier this year: 450 regular sugar cookies, 450 chocolate chip cookies and 100 vegan cookies. Trust me: they were gone by lunchtime! It was a pleasure to work with Tina on this order. But in addition to it, we also invited her to our International Women's Day Panel, to which we invited 2 other La Cocina graduates. Thank you for the super tasty cookies and for sharing your story with us, Tina!

Yelp
Such an amazing experience! Came out to the Grade Opening! Was able to talk to Tina the owner as well as her daughter cleopatra about the business! They had a line that was moving quickly and everything was delicious! I had the grilled cheese and it was amazing! The brownie was just out the oven and was to die for!

Yelp
Tina makes the best cakes! I found A Girl Named Pinky through a Google search. My friend and I had a joint 50th birthday party and asked her to make us a festive, yet elegant two-tiered cake. What she provided exceeded our expectations! The chocolate cake was so rich, and the vanilla buttercream was smooth and silky. The icing was a beautiful purple with shiny sprinkles, and a glittery "50" perched on top. Everyone loved it and I am trying to think of when to have another party just so that I can order another cake!

Yelp
I had the idea to order cupcakes for my 15 person team one weekend to spread some joy during shelter in place but didn't get to around ordering until late Friday night. Tina was very accommodating to my last minute order and my coworkers really enjoyed the treat! We ordered funfetti, vanilla w lemon, chocolate, and dark chocolate w salted caramel. The classic chocolate had a light creamy frosting that wasn't overly sugary like some store bought cupcakes and the lemon curd added a nice tang to the vanilla. Presentation was great. I would order from here again.

Yelp
I custom ordered vegan fruit tarts. Had to buy a minimum of a dozen, but probably could've eaten the dozen all by myself in one sitting. Tina told me that I could order anything on the menu vegan :) Today, I came to the store to buy something nice for coworkers on their last day of work. I got a coconut mini cake and a cookies and cream mini cake. One person said they looked like mini wedding cake. She didn't have a chance to tell me how she liked it, but she ate the whole thing. The other coworker did tell me how it was and he approved!

Yelp
We had the pleasure to have 3 types of cookies delivered to a work function. We ordered Chocolate chip (my favorite), and two types of sugar cookies. Needless to say, they went quickly! Its great to support a local, woman owned business who makes amazing delights. I really love that it is part of La cochina. I need more of these baked treats in my life!

Yelp
My son is a huge Elvis fan. GNP made an amazing and yummy personalized cake. They even worked with my insane schedule to help me get the cake in time for his birthday party. Thank you!

Yelp
The owners are unprofessional, argumentative, menacing and rude! Do not waste your time or money. It's not worth the embarrassment, stress and anger caused.

Yelp
Made my wedding cake. She did an amazing job. I showed her a picture and she was able to replicate it. It was gorgeous! And we all loved the flavor. I would highly recommend her!

Yelp
The best I've tasted! Always fresh tasting, love it. I had vanilla cupcakes with white chocolate shavings on top, the best ever.

Yelp
I absolutely loved coming here for book club which I'm saddened to not be a due to Covid. The atmosphere was so chill and cozy. The chocolate chip cookies were so bomb, the perfect thing to go with a cup of coffee (hot or iced.) Super super chocolatey, soft and chewy:)))) Tina was so sweet and she made the experience a 10/10!!!

Yelp
I have not only gotten the most AMAZING baked goods and treats from A girl Named Pinky for a couple years now but recently had the pleasure of working for this business and it was the most positive experience! The employees and owners were so helpful and team oriented. I received very thorough training and really felt valued! The owner Tina is the most phenomenal baker and I was so honoured to learn from her. Her humility and grace is inspiring. Highly HIGHLY recommend A Girl Named Pinky! And side note do yourself a favour and try their ginger cake, it does not disappoint !

Sam C.

Yelp
This is a review on service and communication, not the baked goods quality or taste. We never did tastings or sampled in the shop. I reached out to Tina to supply mini cupcakes and/or macaroons for our wedding. She was incredible from communication, payment, and understanding we were able to work something else out (multiple desserts) with our venue (which ultimately, our wedding was cancelled due to COVID19). None of this was her fault that we didn't get to work with her, but I appreciate her business-owner professionalism and care to the client. I hope to work with Tina/AGNP in the future because small businesses like hers deserve to be in the spotlight and around.

Yelp
Just tried this cupcake this morning for staff appreciation. I had the vanilla. Too sweet, weird aftertaste that I cannot get rid of after a glass of water. Not a good texture to the cake. Not dry, but not moist. They looked nice...but I wish I'd stuck to my diet.

Ria G.

Yelp
If you are ever in need of satisfying your sweet tooth and or a wonderful customer service experience, A Girl Named Pinky is one of the finest local bakeries in the San Francisco Bay Area. Tina, the owner is amazing at what she does and puts much so effort into her work. I can't pinpoint a specific dessert because they can whip up just about anything. My favorite in particular is Tina's delicious red velvet cupcakes. The treats are tasty and made with love. More than that, Tina provides superior customer service. Tina's staff at the UC Berkeley location is always going above and beyond to make sure that everything is perfect and with a smile. A Girl Named Pinky is valued in the local community and their dedication to you is unmatched. You can place an order online and they are still open for business during the pandemic. Please go support!!

Yelp
So love Tina!!! When I saw her creations on her Instagram page, I knew I'd want her to make my cake for my wedding. Her cake was heavenly! I chose the vanilla bean cake and it was soft and melts in the mouth. The frosting was perfect too! Not too sweet and very light. My guests craved for her pastries and other desserts as well. I ordered her famous fresh berry tarts, brownies and chocolate chip cookies. She'd definitely earned a returning customer in me.

Julie V.

Yelp
Had a custom cake made to celebrate our daughters 18th birthday. It was beautiful and delicious. Had great communication with Tina! Will be back for future cerebrations.

Yelp
Tina does amazing work. She put together a cake for my organization's 20th anniversary. It was gorgeous. Booking her and coming up with the cake was a three month process (that on me BTW not her). I had originally contacted her in August hoping to have her do a September event. It was a no go. It turns out cake decorators, especially good ones, get booked up fast. So I asked here about our November event instead. That worked with her schedule. I booked her immediately. In the process of finding here, I had spoken to a lot of cake designers and looked at numerous portfolios. We made all our arrangements via e-mail. It was a stress free and straightforward experience. The day of the event, Tina showed up on time with a gorgeous cake. Not only was Tina's work lovely, she was lovely to deal with. The cake was simply DELICIOUS. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. Two things to note, Tina is a product of La Cocina. She is also a small business owner. Those two things, along with her beautiful work translate into :HIRE HER. Hire her now. You will be delighted with the effort.

Asi M.

Yelp
I ordered from "A Girl Named Pinky" back in August and I finally got around to writing my review. Tina is so amazing and her cake was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately I was unable to take a picture of the cake because I was so busy running around setting up that by the time we cut the cake it was too late. However, the cake she did for my husband's party was amazing. Everyone said they enjoyed the cake and that it was perfect. The perfect way to end the perfect day. Thank you to Tina and her team for doing such an outstanding job. I will order from her for all birthdays and events!

Yelp
OK so whatever you get make sure you add LEMON TARTS to the side. These things ate delectable and not JUST because they're lemon they just are. I will travel to Berkeley for top dog & to pick these up. Thank me later!!!

Cleopatra S.

Yelp
The best place on earth. Slices of cake and cake pops literally taste like heaven (if it had a taste). :)

Sarah S.

Yelp
I ordered a variety of mini-cupcakes and mini-strawberry tarts for my mini-wedding, and all were perfect: delicious, beautiful, and delivered right on time. Exemplary all-around. I asked for a light hand with both sugar and icing, and Tina delivered. Couldn't ask for anything more. Our guests were wowed. The strawberry tarts were the fave, btw. Perfect for a Rose Garden tiny Covid-19 wedding on a warm day.

Cathryn H.

Yelp
This was the BEST cake on campus, I miss it so much!!!!!!! I had a slice for my birthday and the owner was so sweet, I came right before closing and she helped me pick out a flavor. As soon as they open back up I will be shopping here ASAP!

Lesley E.

Yelp
We had two cupcakes- a confetti cake and a chocolate cake. Both were moist and delicious. I would love to try more products!

Pauline S.

Yelp
I've had A Girl Named Pinky (Tina) provide cakes for two events so far and they both have been outstanding! 1) Sister's Birthday Party - Pink ombre vanilla cake with strawberries and whipped cream 2) Son's Birthday Party - Two tier fondant cake with a robot design and 50 cupcakes for the party. Her designs are excellent, the cakes are tasty, and she's a great person to work with. She's always been very responsive over email and arrives on time for deliveries. I can't recommend her enough!

Carly T.

Yelp
Tina is fabulous at communication and payment online; I never physically went to the shop due to the pandemic, and everything went smoothly to order a dozen cupcakes. I was prepared to pick them up from the shop, but she actually had them delivered right to my doorstep, and perfectly on time. On top of the great service, the cupcakes were absolutely incredible! I've never had a more mouthwatering, and fluffy lemon cupcake; everyone who ate one gave the same amazing review. I highly recommend her goods and I can't wait to have an occasion to purchase from her again! Thank you, Tina!

Kendall L.

Yelp
Great place and super friendly service!!! I ordered the specialty pizza and a lemon macaron, and both were amazing! I'll definitely be back to try some of the other desserts!

Yelp
This place blew me away. I am so impressed with the quality of service and the amazing taste of these desserts. When coming to Berkley this is a MUST. I have huge sweet cravings and this hits the spots. I am crazy about their macaroons.

Yelp
A+ for the several delicious and extremely well crafted cakes I have had done so far. Looking forward to the special events ahead in order to have more custom cakes made!

Yelp
I requested a Hennessy birthday cake, not only was it a beautiful cake it was delicious! I was so happy with my cake, I will definitely be a returning customer. Thank you so much for this lovely cake

Yelp
I just recently ordered a cake for my daughters birthday and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! My co-workers wife is the owner of this establishment and although I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Tina in person her email responses were fast and pleasant. The cake was beautiful and tasted amazing! I definitely recommend giving her a try, you won't be disappointed!
