A Horta d'Obradoiro

"This impressively unique restaurant serves interesting cuisine while at the same time showcasing a part of Santiago’s rich history. Run by two chefs, it occupies a house dating back to 1690 which was once home to musicians from the nearby cathedral. It features a combination of contemporary and regional decor, a wine bar made from old beams, colourful details that are reminiscent of old beach huts, a conservatory-style room, plus a garden with a vegetable plot which is a real luxury in this part of the city. Carefully prepared and beautifully presented seasonal cuisine." - Michelin Inspector

Great restaurant with excellent service. Nice selections of wines, they serve local Albariño and Ribeira Sacra by the glass as well. Starters and mains are delicious and well presented, we tried the seafood salad, stuffed chestnut bread, roasted leek, tempura monkfish, veal cheek and fideua. The chef came out at the end of dinner service to check on everyone.

Total disappointment! We had a lovely dinner here in 2023 after walking our first Camino. This year, we booked a table 3 month in advance, to be sure that we get a table after our this years Camino. We felt uncomfortble from minute 1. There was no air conditioning, which makes it hard to enjoy on a +36 day. Staff was ignorant and unwelcoming. Waitress seemed annoyed when we were ordering. She put a finger in my glass of water and did not even said sorry. Toilet floor was wet and dirty. The food was good, but considerably worse then 2 years ago. We were not offered an ice sleeve for our wine bottle, while other tables got it, so the wine got warm in a heated room after 20 mins. After so high expectations, we wanted to leave the place sooner. Never had this feeling even in the most basic cafes of rural Galicia, where we were always feeling very welcome. Sad experience. Will not come again. There are a lot of other nice eateries in Santiago.

My boyfriend took me there, and it was absolute perfection. The food was both innovative and delicious, leaving us impressed with every bite. The service was truly exceptional, and having the Chef personally greet us at our table added a unique and memorable touch. The ambiance was incredibly romantic, and the garden was simply stunning. This is definitely a place we’ll be coming back to. Highly recommended!

Outstanding food that you will not have had elsewhere. The goose eggs and the infused chestnut bread are extraordinary dishes, including the roasted leeks in praline! All enjoyed in the backyard greenhouse. Lunch to savior and re

These people are tremendous! Such service. Such art. Such flavor! It was so good and such a fun and relaxing experience, that we returned the next day to try more of their delicious seasonal menu. They are exceptionally kind and attentive. Spend time talking with you about their offerings and wines, making personal recommendations. A rare find compared with any major culinary destination. The three of us tried three different first dishes, five different second dishes, and five different desserts over our two visits, all perfectly prepared and delightful. The head chef came out to visit guests and teased with our 15 year old. If we weren’t leaving Santiago, we’d be there again tomorrow. We just easily said to ourselves, why go anywhere else? Make reservations even for lunch.

With all the wonderful reviews and the Michelin rating we just had to give it a try. After our long pilgrimage we felt we deserved a treat and they did not disappoint. The service was impeccable and the food some of the best flavors I’ve had. We were welcomed with an appetizer sample from the kitchen of a salmon mousse that woke up the taste buds right away. I had to try the pig ears and all I can say is wow! Done to perfection and craving more. Next was the veal cheeks, could not get any better. Literally melted in your mouth as soon as tender. We also enjoyed the battered hake and again, another delightful dish. Top it all off with an apple dessert and we were in culinary nirvana. Absolutely deserve the Michelin rating! Don’t miss! #stevensleavin

Top class Galician food & superb service a stone's throw away from Plaza Obradoiro. For all food freaks this is a must if you want a treat & to try a wide selection of top quality local Galician produce.A Michelin star awaits them.Kike & Eloy & their team are pure genius. The rear garden terrace is majestic too with views of the Cathedral. PS. On my last visit I noted the menu caters for a wider range of prices with premium dishes from the daily specials to the really affordable dishes which helps to attract a wider customer profiles making the restaurant more accessible to the public. It was great to see one of my favourites still there the sweet & sour pigs ear which is so tasty, much better than just the traditional dish. My star dish this time was the outstanding Iberian pork fillets with rice artichokes & kimchee ali-oli. Boy oh boy that was good & perfectly paired with a mencía from Regina Viarum winery.

Yelp
We were in Santiago during the beginning of the pilgrimage season. We stayed in a hotel on the square near the church. When we sought out a dinner restaurant a local citizen recommended with great enthusiasm this small restaurant located behind the church and at the bottom of the hill. We started our culinary adventure in a dark rainy night. Nestled in a small street our destination was beyond our expectations. The bar at the front room lead us to the garden dining room. The decor, the tables and chairs, the blackboard menu of specials and was simple straight forward Spanish countryside. We should have guessed it, the food was also Spanish and straight forward . THe menu was a challenge to our American only language skills. The wait staff spoke only Spanish and they worked hard to communicate the delights of the menu. After some exchanges we ordered the items suggested by the staff. Turned out to be a wonderful idea. The local fish was brought to life in a wonderful preparation. The pork chop entree was hardy and cleverly seasoned. The wine selection was well toned to the food. By the time we had finished eating the garden room was deserted. The expresso was delivered to the table by young man in kitchen garb. He turned out to be owner/chef. He was passionate and humble about his food and restaurant. If you go to this jewel in hiding, and you should, be sure to ask the chef to help you choose from the menu. It was a wonderful experience
