A la Mode Pies Phinney Ridge

We came in to taste pies for our wedding. Chris was a great host and all the pies were so delicious, which made it hard to make a decision between any of them.

Wonderful pie! We got a mini pie to split between 2 people and it was the perfect size. The marionberry hazelnut was to die for. They have ice cream, soda, and hot drinks available to accompany the pie. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and you can get pies to eat there or to go. Good fast service and a clean interior. Sure it's a little pricy, but it's supremely good pie in a nice neighborhood next to the zoo, so what would you expect?

We picked up a Hawaiian pie (Blueberry, pineapple & coconut) for desert at the ocean, and ordered a "White chocolate banana cream" pie for pick up (48 hours advance order). Each pie was awesome and very tasty. The folks here were very friendly and helpful in our our decision. P.S.- I think I failed to true express how awesome the Banana Cream pie is...or should I say was :)

I enjoy how close this A LA MODE pies location is to Woodland park Zoo. I always make it a point to stop in for a slice or two of pie when we visit the zoo. I enjoy that it’s right across the street from the west woodland playground as well. We can spend all day in this area of Seattle. We will start with a visit to the zoo. Next we will eat our lunch in the woodland park rose garden. After that we will walk over to West woodland playground for some playtime. Finally we will grab some pie after to take home as a treat, gotta save the best for last. On a hot summer day the kids will opt for some of their yummy ice cream. They always have amazing customer service and the pie selection is broad, something for everyone. I love their French apple pie with the crumbles, lemon meringue, and blue Hawaiian. The sour cherry is also a good option! A la Mode Pies has been voted as Seattle’s favorite pie shop since 2009. I highly recommend a visit, it’s also nice to support a small business who truly deserves it. Enjoy!

We opted for pie instead of cake for our wedding, and A la Mode was the perfect choice. The tasting we had in advance was delicious, payment & communication were both easy and quick, and delivery on the day of went off without a hitch. They even provide elegant & classy pie stands, so you don't have to worry about a thing. And their apple pie is SO delicious. Would recommend!

Tasty pies but rather overpriced. I got to take a pie making class with Chris which was really fun... But you don't actually get to make the pies yourself. Most of the dough and filling was premade and you just roll the dough and put on the crust. Definitely a fun experience and the pie I took home was phenomenal but I thought it was very overpriced

We made a good choice in picking this place for dessert vs the restaurant we ate at. The seasonal peach pie with salted caramel ice cream was great combination. All of their pies looked amazing, I'm sitting here eating my pie, thinking of trying a second slice....

We ordered a few pies for our wedding and had a great experience - email communication was quick and easy, we paid in advance via invoice, and pickup was simple. The pies were amazing and held up really well (we picked up on Sunday and didn’t eat until Tuesday). Group favorite was Marionberry but it was fun to sample a bunch of flavors. Highly recommend!

I popped in for a last minute request from our birthday girl. Key Lime Pie or something tropical. We'll, I didn't see it at first nearly ordering the blue Hawaiian.. but then I saw it. Fresh amazing crust, perfectly tart and sweet in a blend and a gorgeous green lime zest on top. Perfect! I had to wait a little bit at this busy place but everyone was super nice.

Pre-ordered some pies for pick up at their Issaquah pop up on the day before Thanksgiving. I get there during the pick up time and they don't have the pumpkin pie that I ordered (not just for me, but for several people). Apparently they ran out (not sure how that is possible as I had pre-paid for mine). Anyway, they said that I could come back at some point later in the day (at least 1hr) and pick it up, but it's 30-40 min from my house so I wasn't going to come back. They did offer refund or substitute of a marionberry pie. Took the substitute as we needed something to serve the guests. It was decent. I can't really judge as I'm not a fan of marionberry.

Hmm another missed pie spot in Seattle. :/ Handmade pies with seasonal flavors, I held high hopes as I've heard good things and their selection looked promising. With a few locations around Seattle, satisfying a sweet tooth has never been easier. We got a slice of marionberry pie and chocolate coconut creme pie, and they were both ok. The coconut creme had an artificial coconut flavor that wasn't good. The marionberry pie was good, but I've also had better. Both pies had potential, but they seemed to fall flat. They also have savory pies that seem promising...maybe I'll try those next time.

Forgot to update about the apple pie, it was amazing and not too sweet. I'd say the cookie cream pie is my favorite but I'd definitely get this again as well.

I liked the pie, but I'm not sure if I would spend $8 for a slice that would've costed $4-5 at my local mom-and-pop. The slice felt small. Normally a slice of pie would take me 2-3 days to finish, and I felt that I could eat this in one and a half sitting. I understand it's hot but the lights were out, there was no AC, and it looked like it might as well be out of power. On that note, I would really like it if this place looked like a cafe instead of a takeout stop. The lady was nice but I could tell she was either tired after a long day or tired of people overall. Dead-looking business plus dead-looking service makes the place less attractive.

The TLDR of their pies is... they're *amazing.* You cannot go wrong with any of their pies here but I highly recommend their French apple or coconut creme pies. They are unbelievably delicious. They've actually changed my mind about pies in general. But I also wanted to write a review for their PIE MAKING CLASS. Tuesdays at the Phinney Ridge location and Thursdays at the West Seattle location. You can sign up on the website! Chris (the owner, founder, and "Pie Guy") taught our class and it was truly a memorable and amazing experience. You get to make 3 mini pies and the flavors rotate every three months. I got to make the French apple, sour cherry, and Mexican chocolate pies. He was funny, personable, and helpful throughout the entire process. I honestly loved the class so much and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Always love the pies here, my new favorite is the marionberry and hazelnut, so much fruit! This is my go to place for a classic apple pie.

What a disappointment. It had to be ordered, I drove 10 miles on a Sunday to pick up for Wife's Birthday ...I said to the cashier it looks nothing like the description, she said different bakers sometimes make it differently. The pie fell dramatically short of expectation, was in no way worth the time, cost... Reached out via email expressing dissatisfaction-no reply, reached out again, no reply... You know their Blue Hawaiian is awesome, but this experience has soured me enough not to give them my business.

Amazing apple crumble pie! The filling was a tad sweet for me but it was overall really enjoyable. I was full from dinner so I opted to split it three ways, but in the end I wish I had more LOL. The crust + crumble topping is AMAZING, I was definitely being a little greedy while picking my pieces haha.

Cozy pie & quiche neighborhood eatery. Stopped in for the apple pear ginger pie, but of course left with a lot more - 2 quiche slices & a Marion berry slice & the apple pear ginger slice. The quiche hit the spot for a Sunday brunch treat and the pies were a bonus for later. We enjoyed it all - always stop in when in Greenwood neighborhood.

I will keep this review short and sweet. This Pie is one of the best Pies I've ever eaten. Hands down BEST PIE. Enjoy! AW

We were in town for the week and was craving some pie. Decided to rush down right before they closed. The store was super cute, decorated just in time for pride month. I got there before closing so my options were definitely limited. I ordered the Blue Hawaiian and the French Apple. The Blue Hawaiian is their signature pie. It has blueberries, pineapple, and toasted coconut. It was good, but it was not my favorite. Still overall a good pie. It just wasn't for me. The French Apple pie was the one I liked out of the two. It's made with locally grown Granny Smith apples, cinnamon and a crumb topping. I honestly liked the crumb topping on top. It's my favorite part. It's a classic pie and it was everything I expected it to be. I had this pie with a scoop of ice cream, which made it even better. Will definitely be back to try the others whenever I'm back in town. Great place and also friendly worker. Kudos A la Mode Pies!!! Wish I had photos, but those were the last thing on my mind.

I love their pies and tried to place an online order and it was a disaster!!! Not only could I not get what I wanted, the process was excruciating. Even though the order taker was polite and helpful, I couldn't get what was advertised on their website, one of the branches wasn't in operation, yada, yada, yada. Not the best way to do business! They might need to revamp their website, note when the Phinney Ridge branch will open, don't just say "2025" and since it is now 2025, that's a laugh, and I'm not laughing. I wanted some desserts for a birthday and was unable to get anything I wanted and my order would have topped $100!!!! I think some things should be changed??? Updated? Who does their website anyway don't hire them, fire them!

Best pie in Seattle. Better than Pie bar. Perfect for people who have a whole mouth full of sweet teeth. 38$ for a whole summer peach pie in 2023. Unless you know a sweet old grandma whose been baking pies her whole life you won't find a better peach pie in Seattle.

This is my first experience doing business a la mode pies . My friend had placed an order a few days before and had asked via phone to confirm the order and change the pick up time. The girl on the other end confirmed and said, "yeah no problem." Day of pickup and the order is not ready and not correct on the sales slip. None of the changes discussed previously were made. An hour later we return to pick up a quiche and pie. Get all the way home and the quiche isn't cooked at all. Forty min later the quiche is cooked through and we can finally eat. I'm shocked that a local business would treat their neighbor this way. I luckily have many other places to frequent for good pie.

Delicious pie. Stopped in for a slice. Difficulty was choosing which one to eat. Several looked tempting. I went with tart cherry and it did not disappoint.

Husband and I were walking around our neighborhood looking for some yummy snacks and we happen to come across A la Mode pies! Now I'm not a huge sucker for pies but every now and then I get a wild craving and today just happened to be my lucky day! We step in, it's pie heaven. So many fresh pies to choose from and knowing me, I'm so indecisive and I know I should really only choose one but it's such a difficult decision to make. However, my husband usually likes to spoil me and asks me slyly, "which ones are your favorite?" (Notice the plural?) I choose the raspberry and the key lime and he just tells the nice lady behind the counter, we'll take one of each! I'm so excited but at the same time dreading the calories I'm about to chow down in one sitting. But was it worth? Oh yes! So worth! I devoured both pies before my husband could even get a bite in. Oops. They also have punch cards! How fun! I love punch cards. I have a separate coin purse just for all my punch cards. Can't wait to come back for more.

The Mexican chocolate mousse pie is fantastic! Flavor is super rich and the cream on top is fluffy and delicious. Would happily eat this pie any day, bet it would be a great shake!

After my last visit, I will never be back. I came here on a weekday morning. The woman working the counter was nice enough, albeit slow; even though we were the only ones there. Now onto the problem: the woman was about to take our order, when she stops to rub both inside corners of her eyes and then vigorously wipes her nose with both of her bare hands. This goes on for at least 30 seconds to a minute. Maybe she has allergies, I don't know. Now I completely understand some itches need to be taken care of immediately. What I don't understand, is that after doing all that rubbing and wiping of her eyes and nose, why is she not washing her hands afterwards? She didn't even use hand sanitizer, or wipe her hands with a towel afterwards. Nothing. She proceeded to take my friend's order, grab her pie, and make her drink with those same hands that touched her eyes and nose. That is really disgusting. It's gross considering Covid is still an ongoing issue, and just gross in general. That is really gross hygiene and poor food safety handling, and completely unacceptable. If she feels comfortable doing that in front of customers, what is she doing in the back with the pies? The pies here are hit or miss. I've tried almost all their regular flavors, and will get whatever seasonal item they have at the time. Sometimes the pies are pretty good, other times they're not good at all. For sure, not worth $8 a slice even if pretty good as they don't taste much better than what's made and sold at nicer/higher end grocery stores in the area. They offer a few small tables inside and outside. Please inform and enforce your team to practice better food safety handling.

The pies here are so tasty and great- best part about it, you don't need to buy the entire pie, pieces are small and great for sharing as well. Went there with friends yesterday and have enjoyed it totally! We picked the French Apple pie which was so good, the Mexican spicy pie which was kind of okay, a bit of spice does no harm haha and the Cookies & cream- this was hands on the best one! It was buttery, the Oreo filling was heaven and the cream was so fresh. I'd definitely try the other ones next time and get them carbs! :)

Picked up slices of pie on the way home, and I could not have been happier with the choice. We had the coconut cream pie and it was delicious. A perfect blend of flavors and textures. We were all disappointed we didn't get a full pie, so we could have seconds. Will definitely come by next trip to Seattle.

They have great pies, but I won't be coming here again due to extremely rude customer service. Came in with my mom last Friday during the day when the shop was empty and out basic questions about the flavors and availability were met with hostility and contempt - my mom finally asked this woman if she was having a bad day and she just glared at us. We left without buying anything. Why work in a pie shop if you get mad when people ask you about the pies?

Ordered the Mexican Chocolate sliced pie on a Saturday. Great value for the taste. It's spicy and very rich that I had it over 2 days. This is not a pie you eat in one sitting as it is very creamy. I wasn't a huge fan of the white cream on top and instead just wanted the chocolate, but that's a personal preference. This one isn't sweet as another reviewer put it, so I'd order this again for a chocolate lover! I would have to come back to try their other flavors like the cookies and cream!

Cute little shop on the corner of a lightly busy street. We came right before closing and they still have couple slices for us to try! We picked Mexican chocolate, cookies and crème and French apple. I was so excited to try this place after I picked up my take out from Bongos (which is also a must go/try). These pies were soo loved by my partner and I. Can you believe we killed all 3 slices in less than an hour??? Our favorite was the cookies and crème pie. It was more mousse like and no crumble but you would get bits of Oreos and crème which was the best part. The Mexican chocolate reminded me of Abuelita's chocolate but even less sweet... wasn't really a fan but my partner's family loved it. The French apple crumble was TO DIE FOR! Crunchy and also just the right amount of sweetness. I could eat those for days and the apples felt so fresh. That pie would've been great heated up a La mode.

Really delicious spot for pies! Over the past year I've ordered slices, whole pies for special occasions, and even a variety of the mini pies for Thanksgiving. Definitely get the vanilla pint of ice cream in their display case, it is so good! Their pies are more expensive, but the taste makes up for it. The workers are always so friendly and helpful. Only one hiccup was for Thanksgiving I pre-ordered a week ahead of time. I called two days before pickup to confirm my order, and they could not find my order. If I did not call, I would be concerned I would be pie-less for the holiday. I love to support local, but hope that in the future they are more organized.

Got a chocolate pecan tart from A la Mode Pies for a birthday surprise. I was able to preorder it via their website! I placed the order roughly about a week or so before the desired pick up time. By preordering and paying online, I was able to walk in and and grab it! The online preorder made it so convenient, I'm happy they had this option. The customer service was great too! We called to see if we could pick it up an hour earlier than previously requested and the employee over the phone was super nice to check for us if our tart was ready! The chocolate pecan tart was delicious and I can't wait to come back and try some of the pies next time around.

My boyfriend and I have become obsessed with this place. We have tried similar options like pie bar, but found those to be very sweet. A la mode pies are flavorful but balanced. My favorite is the Cookies & Cream pie. It has bits of Oreo filling, an Oreo pie crust, and a delicious custard filling. My boyfriend really loves the sour cherry, but I'm partial to the French apple. This spot has become our Saturday "cheat meal" go-to. They are available on UberEats if you're lazy like us and want delivery. They sell pie by the slice and come in protective plastic containers that keep the slices in tact. Already thinking of the next time I get to bite into that cookies & cream slice...

Pie bar was closed so decided to try this location and I'm so glad we did. This pie far surpasses pie bar. It's so good. The crust is flaky, the flavors are on point, and the creams are smooth. Had the toasted coconut and you could smell the coconut when you opened it, the blue Hawaiian which was basically just blueberry and the cookies and cream. I cannot wait to go back and try the other flavors. You can order an entire pie and they have even more selections. Trust me. Go! You won't be disappointed

They really have the best customer service! I know the pies are fabulous and I'd ordered a slice to be delivered to my friend. Unfortunately GrubHub cancelled the order and created a ton of confusion which A la Mode was quick to correct. They really are the best!

I regret that I'm only finally just getting around to writing a review for this place because I've loved it for years, but I'm moving out of state soon and feel the strong need to do my small part to ensure they're still going strong if/when I return to Seattle. These pies are hands down the best around. For my favorite it's a tie between the marionberry hazelnut and Mexican chocolate. Seriously, both truly impeccable pies. Then the strawberry rhubarb, then the french apple I think. You really can't go wrong with any of them though. If you haven't had their pie yet, you must, it's so good!

Stopped by the other day to grab a slice of their Marionberry. Was disappointed to learn that they've stopped selling that particular pie by the slice and the woman behind the counter said she'd only sell it as a whole pie, because "prices of berries have tripled." I didn't quite follow that line of reasoning since they make more money selling slices and it was also around noon so I didn't expect them to have trouble selling the rest of it if they cut me a slice. Good pies, but I wish I could enjoy a slice of their Marionberry without dropping $40+.

Good pies. Sometimes rude staff. When asking about food allergies we were told to basically not eat there. Tables dirty and bathroom has sign that it's for employees only. Clearly they don't want anyone to dine in.

I've never thought of myself as a pie person but after trying the pies here, I'm sold! I heard about this place through a blogger and we happened to be in the area one day after visiting the Woodland Park Zoo so we decided to check it out! We tried: Marionberry hazelnut pie a la mode - I loved that this pie was not too sweet! The berries were fresh and had a tartness which I enjoyed. Went perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The crust was thick and crispy. White chocolate banana cream pie - banana cream pie is always heavenly but their cream was so light and fluffy! Both slices were generous portions and we were so full after licking our plates clean! Per their menu, it looks like they also have quiche for a savory dish. We will definitely be back to try it the next time we are in town!

5 stars for their pies- they are delicious! The vegan blue Hawaiian is amazing. Their customer service however, could use work. Not the friendliest place and they always seem a little irritated to have customers which is so odd.

I ordered a chai caramel cheesecake and it was delicious. Over the holidays, I ordered a pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top. Personally, the pumpkin could be a little sweeter and more dense; too soft in texture for me. You have three different options for the pies, either in slices, individuals smaller size pie, or a whole size. Looks like they switch up the flavors often and would come back to try other pies.

Terrible customer, the lady who served me was kinda rude. I wish there were more selection of savory pies for dine in. Won't be back here again and I don't recommend it.

I have no idea how I never knew about this place until now, but I'm so glad that I discovered it! A friend had gift cards for their pie making class, and it was such a delightful experience! The owner of A La Mode runs the class and he made it such a fun experience! He went through how to make crust and how to make each of the fillings for the pies. We ended up making 3 mini pies: French apple, Mexican chocolate and sour cherry. We also got a tasting at the end of all of the other pie flavors, and the pieces were so hearty! My favorite pies were the French apple and blue hawaiin. The crust is delightfully flaky and the filling was so balanced! I highly recommend checking out a La mode!

Stopped by A La Mode pies because I wanted to bring a whole pie to a house party that night. There's plenty of parking around so folks don't have to worry about grab or go or even if you want to stop for a quick dessert. First thing - there's a lot of variety! I loved the assortment and choices and the fact that they had whole pies left in the middle of the day; so you know they don't run out. We chose the key lime pie to buy and I tried it later that night and it was truly delicious. The only thing is that I felt like it could've had a better pie crust to filling ratio and probably less condensed milk. I like my key lime pie more firm. The reason I took off stars was because I was clearly a first time buyer and the girl at the front was NOT helpful =( sad. I asked her if they sample and she said they don't so I asked for which was more popular and she pointed at two. She didn't really seem like she wanted to help. The other girl who actually cashed me out was more pleasant and sounded more encouraging. The other star is taken off for the high price tag - at $32 for a whole pie, I can get a whole pie from a restaurant or even two at Costco. I don't think it's worth that much but hey, they do have unique flavors and for a quick dessert date on weekends, why not?

The pies at A la mode are truly artisanal. I get pies from them for all of my events, especially holidays and my birthday. The apple, ginger, pear is an excellent take on an apple pie; my favorite in fact, and I've had A LOT of apple pie. The ginger flavor is subtle, but it gives the pie an overall unique complexity. The marionberry pie is also special, and the hazelnut in the crust is prominent. The peanut pie tastes very much like peanuts. And the key lime pie is just delightfully tangy with a nice crumby crust. Their pumpkin pie scored us major points with the whole family at Thanksgiving with people battling over the last spicy bites. I prefer their fruit pies to their cream pies in general, but you really can't go wrong here in any direction.

Hmm. While driving past this little charming A La Mode at night, we were so taken with it's inviting atmosphere that we turned the car around to come to A La Mode Pies for the first time, and sadly it is likely to be the last. As a lady who loves to make pie and crumbles, I was expecting a bit more. Almost $7 for one slice of pie rubs me wrong mister "I quit my Tech job to sell overpriced pie in a dreamy corner by the park". We were steered towards our selections and got French Apple and Marion berry pie, and while they were perfectly adequate, that is all they were. Nothing made them extraordinary. They were just simple humble pie, and for the price I wanted to be Wowed. It seems Seattle has a lot of not-particularly exemplary takes on comforting sweets that are all pomp and no circumstance. My quest continues.

Amazing pie! Had for the first time and it was delicious. I cannot wait to try others. I think it's sad for anyone to give this place anything under a 4 star. Even if they had rude staff, that has nothing to do with the amazing flavor of the pie. I didn't have a bad experience at all here. Keep up the good work! Everything about this A La Mode is on point!

I've never been much of a sweets person. This place though is so incredible I make it a point to stop every time I'm in Seattle. I recommend the huckleberry, Mexican hot chocolate, or if it's in season, the grasshopper. Everything I've had to include the coffee is incredible and made from scratch on the spot. Employees are warm and friendly to everyone, and I've never been the only customer in the shop in the 3 years I've been coming here.

The pie is 5 stars! The customer service is terrible. This was our first experience at the Phinney Ridge store and will be our last. The woman working was early 50s, late 40s and shouldn't be working in customer service. No greeting, no smile. We were all ok with that because I don't need a smile to enjoy pie. I then ask her if she will warm the pie up in the microwave (like the other store does) and she goes "no my boss said no" my friend then nicely asks again and she just smirks and says "no" again. Why would you not warm a customer pie that is eating in the store?? We move on and all order a slice of pie except for one person who orders a pie shake. When she ordered it the worker seems very off-put and says "this is going to take awhile, the ice cream machine is blocked". She then proceeds to start talking with a co-worker and forgets about the shake! We are all pretty much done with our pies and my friend walks up to the counter to ask for shake. The women continues to chat and drink her water and then finally turns around and says "can I help you?" Completely forgetting about the shake! My friend says "I still don't have my shake" and she goes "oh yeah" and walks to the blender to get it. The pie is good but go to a different store.

There are a few foods I vehemently rejected as a child because I thought they were "gross" until I learned better: Brussel sprouts, pickles, olives, etc. Now I can add key lime pie to that list! I grew up thinking key lime pie was absolutely disgusting. But they had samples here and after one bite I realized how wrong I was! The last time I was here, my mom and I ordered a slice of key lime pie and a slice of classic apple pie to share. Both servings were very generous- next time we'll probably just share one slice between two people. Both were extremely good, it was hard to pick a favorite. The key lime was the perfect mix of tart and creamy with a graham cracker crust, and the apples in the apple pie were cooked perfectly and not mushy at all, topped with a delicious crumb topping. This spot is super close to green lake, I highly recommend grabbing a slice and enjoying it by the lake!

I've found a new hot spot for pie! A la mode delivered on all fronts and I will be getting back here many times. I went for a slice of the apple ginger pie à la mode (of course!). The crust was delicious: buttery and flaky, baked perfectly. The apples were tart with just enough sweetness. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I may need to head up there and pick up a whole pie...

After hanging out at the cider house, one of the workers there kept raving on and on about strawberry rhubarb pie. So, of course, we had to find a place that served it. Yelp led us here. Honestly, this was my weirdest experience in Seattle. When we arrived at the pie shop, the workers seemed relatively happy. They were chitchatting with the customers. The person in front of us ordered a slice to go and was promptly served. Then one of the workers asked "Would you like your change back?" And of course, the person in front of us answered yes. That's when things started getting a little weird. The worker's attitude went from 100-0 instantly. The shop quickly turned silent and the lively atmosphere that we entered quickly died. When it was our turn to order, we asked if they had any petite strawberry rhubarb pies left (the chalkboard had it listed as an option). We got a sour response to how the chalkboard isn't correct and they'd be so busy all the time if they were just updating the chalkboard. Uh, okay. We ended up getting a slice of the strawberry rhubarb pie with a scoop of blueberry ice cream - after all, this is a la mode pies. After signing the credit card receipt, the worker took one look at the crossed out tip line and continued to mope. (Honestly, this slice of pie + ice cream was practically ten bucks, whatever tip we would have given in cash was instantly evaporated due to the worker's poor attitude). The entire atmosphere was just WEIRD. It felt awkward and uncomfortable and ruined whatever "pie experience" I was going to have. The pie itself wasn't bad, I enjoyed the crust but I did find the inside to be a little too sweet for me. Disappointed. Really wanted to like this place since I'm a pie fanatic. (Especially cream pies.) But, they weren't great. Tried two: Coconut and Banana Cream. Both were whipped cream based vs custard, and, for the banana, the milk fat was so high it left an unpleasant greasy coating on my tongue. Just an overwhelming fairly bland heavy cream taste instead of a typical sweet custard filling topped with a less-sweet whipped cream. I also bought a slice of cherry pie for a buddy who believes it's the litmus test for pie shops. His conclusion: 1. He bit into a pit on Bite #1 and 2. the crust had an unpleasant taste. Cute shop filled with beautiful looking pies--just not ones I loved eating.
