This is not a review - hopefully a future voyage of discovery
We had been shopping the other day and lunchtime was calling...just a few streets away from an old haunt, a real favourite, I cannot remember how many times we have been here in the last 14-15 years. But for Covid it would have been many more. L'Epidor...why not, its been ages...we went there and...it was closed!
So Brasserie de la Bourse, next door it was
We had a couple of chats with one of the waiters re L'Epidor...it has now been taken over by a famous Michelin starred chef, Jean-Francois Piege. We couldn't discover if they will keep it the same - it had some famous dishes (and clients...many a time we went, Christian Louboutin was in the curtained off room at the back...his shop is next door). It was owned by a little old lady and run seemingly by 1 waiter, who we got to know over the years...an acerbic wit...he was an institution there. Apparently he lives close by & is often seen around
In a review I found, Piege says "I didn't want to reinvent L'Epi d'Or, I just wanted to make it better. I want the tastes of honest old-fashioned French cooking to survive as everyday food, not as part of some expensive nostalgic special-occasion meal". The photos and reviews seemed to bear this out
If that's the case, then we will book next time we go that way & report back to you...exciting to see what this marriage will bring
