"This quintessential Parisian bistro of the former Baltard market is the latest acquisition of Elodie and Jean-François Piège. The authentic vintage interior (old tiles and mirrors and stained walls) provides the setting for traditional fare that changes daily during the week. Also available: pork pie, croque madame, foie gras, steak tartare and chips." - Michelin Inspector

I had such a wonderful time at À L’Épi d’Or. The moment I walked in, I was struck by the charm of the place — the vintage tiles, the mirrors, and the warm, timeless atmosphere make you feel like you’ve stepped back into a classic Parisian bistro, but in the best possible way. The food was exactly what I hoped for: comforting, authentic, and made with care. I tried a couple of the bistro classics — the steak tartare was beautifully seasoned, and the pâté en croûte was spot on. There are daily specials as well, which I loved because it gives you a reason to come back and discover something new each time. The service was genuinely kind and welcoming, attentive without being over the top, and the staff made me feel at ease right away. I also really enjoyed the wine selection — lots of interesting options that paired perfectly with the food. It’s not the cheapest spot, but for the quality, the atmosphere, and the feeling of eating in a true Parisian institution, I found it absolutely worth it. Overall, À L’Épi d’Or is a gem — delicious food, warm service, and a setting that’s full of character. I’d happily go back and recommend it to anyone looking for a real Paris bistro experience.

Overpriced, mean portions, lack of attention to detail, this should not be in the Michelin Guide. Burnt, cheap chips in a tin cup a good summary - the eye here is on maximum profits. Clueless staff. Virtually no French customers. Poor value set lunch. Plenty of better options nearby.

Two/three-course lunch menu is highly recommended, wish I had enough time to come back for dinner. Uncomplicated good food in a gorgeous setting. The kind of Parisian experience you want without feeling like an American Amélie cosplayer (sorry!). Welcoming to solo diners and staff are incredibly friendly.

A friend invited me to lunch and when I saw the Google rating I was horrified. But, I don’t understand. The place is attractive , the staff welcoming and professional and the food was very good. I will definitely return when in the neighborhood for a classic bistro experience.

5 stars for all foods. However, This 2 stars for a waitress, she did very bad services. She was impatient and unfriendly for us. She pushed us finishing faster. And she informed us that if your reservation at the first round (19h or 19h30), we had to finish before 21h, but we didn’t see any notification from our reservation. When we were surprised why they can’t accept contactless payment, she was very impatient. (ATTENTION: This restaurant can’t accept contactless payment ) I’m so disappointed about the service. We are clients, we payed for all, we didn’t like to be treated such rudely !!!

Very delicious frites and rice pudding. The nice tableware and lighting will boost your travel mood. The waiter recommended us local beer.

The place is very cute and not touristy. Prices of wine, drinks and dessert are too high; however, food prices are ok. Quality of food ok not superb. Atmosphere the best part of the restaurant.

Google
Summary: Found a bug in the food. Waiter gave us a dessert but still charged us for the dish with the pupa. My friend and I came here for lunch and he got the green salad and the pate in bread (cold meatloaf) and I got the salad of the day (tomato salad with tuna pieces) and the veal in tuna and caper sauce and the salad that came with the cold thin veal slices had a pupa in it (yes, like a maggot that has cocooned) and they only comp'd the rice pudding we had afterwards which was maybe 7 euros and not the veal dish that had the bug in it. Other restaurants with true customer service would have given the entire meal for free for this slipup. On top of the pupa in the food, the food was quite mediocre. Every dish had one note to it (usually just salty) and was not worth the high and expensive prices even if we didn't find the critter in our food.

Yelp
This is not a review - hopefully a future voyage of discovery We had been shopping the other day and lunchtime was calling...just a few streets away from an old haunt, a real favourite, I cannot remember how many times we have been here in the last 14-15 years. But for Covid it would have been many more. L'Epidor...why not, its been ages...we went there and...it was closed! So Brasserie de la Bourse, next door it was We had a couple of chats with one of the waiters re L'Epidor...it has now been taken over by a famous Michelin starred chef, Jean-Francois Piege.  We couldn't discover if they will keep it the same - it had some famous dishes (and clients...many a time we went, Christian Louboutin was in the curtained off room at the back...his shop is next door).  It was owned by a little old lady and run seemingly by 1 waiter, who we got to know over the years...an acerbic wit...he was an institution there.  Apparently he lives close by & is often seen around In a review I found, Piege says "I didn't want to reinvent L'Epi d'Or, I just wanted to make it better.  I want the tastes of honest old-fashioned French cooking to survive as everyday food, not as part of some expensive nostalgic special-occasion meal".  The photos and reviews seemed to bear this out If that's the case, then we will book next time we go that way & report back to you...exciting to see what this marriage will bring If there are any Yelpers out there who have been, please tell me what you think

Yelp
I made it a point to visit L'epi d'Or this trip to Paris as our meal five years ago was SO memorable. It's rare in life that a meal can not only meet, but surpass expectations, and this one has. The quality of the food, the attentive and often hilarious service ( from Dominique) and charming atmosphere makes this little cafe a winner. I had the filet with Roquefort sauce, my husband had the cod. The nicest fish I have ever had, gorgeous presentation. We shared baba au rum and apple tatin with our friends. This restaurant has many more reviews on Trip advisor, perhaps because Yelp isn't as popular in France. We were the only Americans ( and the only English speaking table) in a sea of locals.

Yelp
This was by far the best home style, French restaurant we found! The staff was very friendly and had the best recommendations. The duck and the pork stew cooked in wine sauce, both had different and rich, dark sauces and add with a great bottle of red wine recommended by the server, and we were in heaven! I'd make it a point to find this place again next time we're in Paris!!!
