This family-owned restaurant is awesome for both small and large groups. Their group menu has great quality and quantity. We usually order options for a couple of people less than we have, and there's still plenty of food for everyone. Their Peking duck and roasted duck are famous, but the lobster dishes are also our favorites. We ate here often, and we've never been disappointed. Friendly staff, quick service, and great value for lots of tasty food!

Google
Family oriented. We went there for a 10 ppl meal. The food was ok. But the service was so bad. I think it was also there was not employee that were under the age of 55. Looks like they have their family carrying the store.

Google
We had wonton noodles roasted duck. Wow! It's better than what we had expected. In 2 yrs, we haven't been back here, thus, same taste, same traditional Chinese soup flavors. The price? Excellent for a big portion! Highly recommended 👌. These pictures are 2 portions 👌

Google
This family style restaurant is one of a kind mixing Vietnamese and Cantonese cuisines together. My girl friend and I dined and enjoyed the Peking Duck (market price) and fried squid and veggie. For app, we ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls. The whole encounter cost about $75. They also serve white jasmine rice as a side if you want it. I would definitely recommend going with multiple people to help finish these food. It’s so amazing and the portion sizes are huge! I will be back with my family.

Google
Came here with family for lunch. Food was mostly delicious except for a few exceptions. Peking duck was the best past. Fresh and moist with crispy skin. The bao was warm and soft. The vegetables were also fresh and refreshing. The salt and pepper squid was really crispy and savory. The squid itself was very good! The lemon pepper sauce was okay. It wasn't too flavorful but it was good. I would have maybe liked a sweet sauce to pair it with. Or something with more flavor. The stir fried noodles were a bit disappointing. It tasted a bit too soft and charred. We ended up packing most of it because it wasn't too great. Overall was a decent experience. Still a pretty nice spot to grab some family style meals.

All the food are excellent. My husband love the health food steamed black chicken soup. He get it everytime we come. Service is fine. They don't have a lot of waitress and they don't really check up your table.

Google
This is an old family oriented restaurant on Bellaire. I've been eating there over a decade. Certain foods taste excellent and some are okay. Service is fast and friendly and food portion is big.

Google
I love the Noodle soup with duck here. Had been to this restaurant for so many years and the food is always good. Love their Peking duck. My relatives always request to come here when they visit Houston. The portion is generous for the price. The service is also very nice and quick. When I am thinking of this soup, I always end up here. Highly recommended! Update: my relatives from out of town always requested this place, and they always deliver. The best food for a great price and family really enjoy every bit of them. Thank you for such a wonderful place to entertain people.

Yelp
I don't come here often since it's quite far from me, but when I do, it's always for one thing: their duck noodle soup. It's the only place I go to for it now. I haven't tried many other dishes on the menu, but this one keeps me coming back. Originally, I was hesitant to try duck noodle soup again because I have had it elsewhere and I felt it was too rich. What sets it apart is how they serve it: the roast duck comes separately from the noodles and broth, so you can decide whether to let it soak or keep it crispy. I personally enjoy it as-is, without adding any sauces. The fresh, clean broth pairs perfectly with the rich duck, cutting through the natural fattiness in a really satisfying way. These days, duck is expensive and often dry or skimpy in portion size. That's not the case here. Whether you get the roast duck on its own or in the noodle soup, it's always flavorful, well-cooked, and not overly fatty. The staff are friendly, though some have limited English, so communication can be a little tricky at times. But for the duck noodle soup alone? This place is absolutely worth the trip.

Yelp
The food was flavorful, it is a solid place to get comfort oriental food. The service was quick, the servers were very sweet ladies and helped care for a baby that was in our group while we ate. The place looks it has served many generations and has so many stories on the walls.

Yelp
We went to A Ly based on a friend's recommendation having the best Peking Duck in Houston. The place was not busy when we arrived and were seated at the corner. They have a lot of big tables and only a handful of small tables. As others have indicated, the restaurant has been around for a hope and decor is a bit outdated. We ordered the fish maw with crab meat soup. Peking Duck and snow pea leaves. The soup was huge and delicious. The soup was a bit stickier (maybe a bit too much cornstarch?). Peking Duck was supposed to be the star of the show. It was a big let down. It was more like a roasted duck rather than Peking Duck. The skin was soft and only have a few pieces that were crispy. That is the main difference between a roasted duck and Peking Duck is the crispy skin. There was a ton of meat. It was cut up in chunks instead of slide so it can be put into the nap easily. I would not recommend the Peking Duck as there a ton of other places that does a much better job. Our last dish was the garlic son Pe's leaves. They are good. Similar to other places. Service was good. Staff was friendly and helped packed up our leftovers.

Khanh T.

Yelp
I ordered by phone for carrying out. My fault that I trusted them to get it right. When I got home, I opened the box and discovered that was NOT what I ordered! I called them and they said they could not do anything to correct! They gave me the dishes that I really didn't like! BAD SERVICE!

Yelp
We have been coming here for years and it's finally time to leave a review. This place has been around forever and it's never packed but never empty. Lots of people order to go for their family parties and people come here for family dinners. We had gotten a haircut for my son next door and were hungry so we decided on this occasion to dine in. We had the Peking duck, black pepper crab, special salt squid, garlic snow pea leaves, and sizzling plate black pepper beef. All of the dishes were delicious but the stand outs were the squid and lobster. The squid is super crispy and the flavor was just right. The lobsters were a little on the small size but the flavors were delicious.

A great restaurant for a delicious meal of special fried rice and egg rolls..., they are really customer oriented...!

Yelp
Great foods but the service is ok for Asian restaurant. I got the noodles with roasted duck every time craving for Vietnamese food. Must try

Christine B.

Yelp
Went to this restaurant to buy the Peking duck that all my colleagues were raving about. Ate one bite and it was spoiled. I threw up all day, on thanksgiving, and the next day I went back to ask for a refund. The owner would not give me a refund, but only credited me the the amount of the duck, not the tip. I went back the following day to order food, for my credit, which included diced chicken with salted fish fried rice. The fried rice tasted burnt and barely any salted fish taste. Never going back there again!

Yelp
My 1st time and last time at this place. Went in today to order the Peking duck to go. Price clearly states $33.95 When I receive the check to sign it was $38.75. I was puzzled and asked. The old lady at the counter told me bcoz it's to go so there is a charge for the container and $1 xtra if anyone use credit card. Such a ripped off and there is no where on the menu clarified those charges. I just don't like the business is not being honest from the start. They should have told me when I put in my order the xtra charges. It's only a few dollars but the principle is to be honest to the customers. When I got home looked at the duck and almost got a heart attack. It was burn and looked horrible . I should have checked at the restaurant but was frustrated with the charges that I didn't do it.

Yelp
Best Peking Duck & Bao place. I only come here for that every time I'm in Houston! Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

Yelp
This family owned business is a staple for our authentic Vietnamese/ Chinese food cravings. The prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get and they offer incredible to go party trays. Expect to be welcomed with warm and friendly service from the staff, I will continue to give this place my business anytime I'm in town.

Yelp
A nice Chinese restaurant run by a Vietnamese owner. The food is pretty authentic but also you'll see some new dishes. An example of a new dish is the fish that's dissected, then the bones are deep fried. The fish bone is then laid out as a bed for the chunks of meat. It's super tasty and brand new to me.
google avatar

Anwyn N.

Yelp
People come here because it's a family-style dining spot for groups of four or more. The food is a 5/10--average but often dry, with flavors that aren't particularly special or appealing enough to make me want to return. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. The older women serving tables never paid attention to customers, even when they walked right past us. I had to walk over to where they were standing, as they were looking elsewhere, just to ask for assistance. You should use cash to avoid extra fees for debit/credit card transactions. The lack of friendliness from the owner to the staff made me feel like my tips were undeserved.

Kimberly N.

Yelp
A little hole in the water but great food! We ordered Peking duck with bao, snow pea leaf, crispy squid, and stir fry noodle with beef and Chinese broccoli. Everything was flavorful, authentic, and with generous portions. We will definitely be returning!
google avatar

Yelp
If you bring your cat here, then it's an A-Ly cat. This is a good and very popular Chinese restaurant offering all the usual fare, and we think some of their chinese-american dishes are actually really good too. We'll definitely keep coming back here, although there are so many good places in Chinatown and it's honestly hard to pick between them sometimes.
google avatar

Yelp
Haven't been back here for awhile and really miss their family combo meals with Peking Duck. But with just the two of us, we picked Black Pepper Shrimp, Butter Wings, Black Pepper Steak and Pan Fried Flat Rice Noodle. Other than that the steak is kinda chewy and bland, rest of the dishes are delicious!
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Received this recommendation from a friend. They said A Ly had the absolute best Lobster with black pepper. It was delicious. We also enjoyed the shrimp and scallops stir fry with fresh vegetables. Delicious food and a very friendly atmosphere! We'll be back soon! Black Pepper Lobster

Yelp
I have come here plenty of times previously with friends and family. I looked at the menu and was amazed how the prices have drastically increased. Entrees are $10.95 to $35.95. Everything is ala cart. The Peking Duck and the Black Pepper Lobsters are usually best items on the menu. Other typical Chinese entrees like general tso's chicken, chicken luc lac and beef with broccoli tastes like Panda Express food, only twice as expensive. I called The restaurant prior to coming and was told that you can get a half order of Peking Duck with steamed buns for $15.95.However upon arrival at the establishment this evening, the waitress would not let me order a half order. A whole order typically feeds 3-4 people. A whole Peking Duck is $27.95. Because I promised my daughter I would take her out for Perking duck on Christmas Day, that's what we had for dinner, along with soup, chicken & broccoli and black pepper lobster. The total cost of dinner was $85 plus tip. Even the portion sizes of the entrees were smaller than normal. I noticed that they used dark meat in chicken and the lobster was very salty and overcooked. Looking around, the establishment wasn't very busy because the restaurant is located 3 miles west of the main drag of Chinatown and many tables were empty. Service was mediocre, not unusual for Asian restaurants. They forgot to bring us the beverages and silverware. Had to wait a while until someone came out of the kitchen so I could ask for water, tea, condiments and silverware. Meanwhile our food was getting cold! I won't be dining here again. In the future, I'll just order Peking Duck to go. Again Peking Duck is the best item on the menu.

Judy N.

Yelp
We ordered lobster and noodle dishes a few days ago. The flavor of the noodles were good but the lobsters were very bad. They used old lobsters in the dish. I cannot believe we paid $95 for that. Never order from this restaurant again.
google avatar

Hieu V.

Yelp
Don't bother calling to place an order. They never, ever pick up the phone - at least my calls. I always end up driving to the restaurant to place an order and then wait in my car. However; this is all well worth it for the Peking duck. Honestly, one of the best Peking duck in town. Super yummy... just make sure you buy extra bao.

David Q.

Yelp
Beware of this shady establishment. They are extremely understaffed on weekends with only 2 waitresses and charge a mandatory 20% gratuity for unprofessional management and slow service. I am highly disappointed and will never return to this place. i will never come back this place again
google avatar

Aryani N.

Yelp
They moved location to a bigger location, got reserved parking spots.. honestly I'm lovin it! The Peking duck here is amaze balls! They cut everything so you not eating bones when you get inside. They are more meatier than fungs kitchen (if you're wondering) Black pepper lobster -A MUST HAVE! Sometimes they go on special. Two for $28, specials are printed and posted on the door btw Muc rang moi -old pictures make it look super bland.. but it's reaaaally good, they'll serve you white rice with it. Very tasty, I would order this again and again!
google avatar

Yelp
Family's go-to spot for Peking duck and baos!! So freaking good and only $30 I think. Also have a good variety of other Vietnamese-Chinese dishes like birds nest, salted fried squid, and shaken beef cubes
google avatar

Yelp
Food is great and the employees are very attentive. If you are seeking for a variety of good asian food, this is the place

Yelp
I had low expectations at my first visit, but I left very impressed. My friends and I had ordered the peking duck with buns and the salted fish fried rice which were both so delicious, especially the salted fish fried rice. The second visit, we tried the shrimp fried rice, salt and pepper scallops and calamari, and ga luc lac (Vietnamese shaking chicken). All of the dishes were only ok this time. The ga luc lac wasn't what I expected, the scallops were a bit soggy, and the shrimp fried rice was a bit bland. Everything seems to have a lot of butter though. I was disappointed this time around, but I hope to go back to get the peking duck and salted fish fried rice again.
google avatar

Emmy S.

Yelp
how i WISH i took pictures of my food! This was my first time ordering from here i ordered a tray of peking duck and WOW it exceeded my expectations. The baos was also really good too, everyone in my party LOVED IT and kept asking me where i bought it! The lady over the phone was super nice too. I will be coming back . Prices were very reasonable too so please check this place out
google avatar

Vanesa V.

Yelp
This is our go to spot to get Peking duck to go. It's about $27 and pretty darn good. Another dish we frequently get to go as well is their fried rice. Last time we tried the salt pepper shrimp for about $12.99 and they were super delicious. My friend said she likes their lobster here so next time I'll have to try that!

Ryan N.

Yelp
Was charged a svc fee for paying with a credit card even though my $50.20 bill was well over their stated $15 credit card minimum. Ruined a rather good tasting meal. It was my third time frequenting this placed since thanksgiving, but first time not paying cash. Disappointed
google avatar

Gammie L.

Yelp
I always crave the most random things in the middle of the night, and Peking Duck was it! So I literally ordered it from A Ly the next morning. lol cravings are horrible. It's been well over a decade since I've been back here. I ordered a Peking duck to take to work. Food was prepared within 10 mins! Holy cow that's quick. That's always a good thing. Prices definitely increased but that's understandable. $30 and some change for a duck and buns. Not too shabby. I was impressed with the buns and veggies given but my duck was kind of depressing. The skin was super thick and wasn't crispy. The duck meat itself was kind of bland. Meat wasn't as tender. Really greasy though. And tell me why my duck looks so skinny? lol it didn't even fill up the pan. Like I got an anorexic duck. Oh well. Overall not bad. Probably dine in next time. The counter where you pay actually have their catering menu!
google avatar

Ngoc L.

Yelp
this is the place for your party platters and impress everyone. will not have left over. is it amazing? no. is it good food, definitely. recommend dishes: you can never go wrong with these. peking duck roast duck egg noodles. soup mang cua. com chien ca man they can get pretty busy during the weekend and around dinner time. be pt with the staff, they are all over 50s and have been there since the beginning of times. they'll be rude to you, but that's part of the authentic Asian experience. lol

Nguyet T.

Yelp
I found it. I found it. Chinese Vietnamese taste noodle soup and Yangzhou fried rice ( Lap Xuong + shrimp + sa shiu + egg). It got "wok flavor" ( if you know what i mean). For the noodles, got mince pork and chives toppings which are true Chinese Vietnamese style. Plus, a bottle of red vinegar. Will be back for more. Look like a traditional restaurant.

Yelp
love this place. I had a roast duck noodle soup and it was awesome. they put the duck on a plate to keep the skin crunchy and the noodle is chewy and bouncy, just the way I want it. they have all the condiments to enhance the flavor. The staff is attentive and very nice. Also love the Peking Duck here. When I have guests from out of town, I always bring them here and everyone love it. Highly recommende!

Yelp
Yo what's up it's ya boy back at it with the best duck in town. The crispy skin, delicious fat, and juicy meat makes this duck my all time favorite place to get this dish! You ever watch a Christmas story where they get duck at the end. This reminds me of that and happy holiday times! It's duck season fam. This restaurant is tucked a way in small plaza in Bellaire. This place is a gem that I'm glad to have tried. I'll come back again when I crave it along with an order of calamari. This place is also popular due to it serving lobster carved into pieces making it easier to get into the meat. The lobster has a lot of black pepper on it. It's delicious but the duck is where it's at! Nothing compares to it. When you pair it with the white rice it's pure perfection!
google avatar

Thai H.

Yelp
Food is good. Peking Duck is different compared with other places. They gave you a whole Duck, not only meat like some other places. It is not the best which I have ate but its really good compared many places I have tried in Houston. Others food also good.
google avatar

Gin Y.

Yelp
I have been to this restaurant twice already. So, the only dish that you should definitely order is the Peking duck. The duck had a good amount of meat, crispy skin, and it complimented well with the steamed bao. I think almost every table ordered this dish for Mothers Day. Their duck soup is also good. Very aromatic, but the broth still retained a light taste to it. It was nice because it counteracted the oiliness of the roast duck. The other dishes we tried here were just ok. It wasn't anything that I haven't tasted at other Chinese restaurants. What I found most disappointing was the Hainan chicken. The chicken looked pretty fresh (no hormones). But, it lacked any sort of flavor. I would not recommend ordering this dish. Otherwise, we will come back just for the duck.
google avatar

Yen T.

Yelp
The Peking duck and noddle soup are very delicious. The soup broth is perfectly flavored. The Peking duck is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Best Peking duck we had so far in Houston. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend. The owner and waitress are both super attentive. They're sincerely nice and provide great service to my family and I.

Annie D.

Yelp
Don't go there they make mistakes still make you pay and they not clean Resturant at all a lot of my friends tell me and i don't believe now I see it

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night and tried one of their pre-set 8 course family meals. Crab neat soup was the first course and it was pretty good but could have used a little more seasoning. The chunks of crab meat were fresh and sizable. The cold cut plate with shrimp, veggies, fish sauce, and prawn crackers was quite tasty. The dish wasn't drenched in gish sauce (which I appreciate) but they also served an extra side of fish sauce for those who do like the drenched style. Other dishes included chinese brocolli with beef, sauteed veggies, chicken, lemon pepper shrimp, and sweet and sour fried fish. These dishes were fairly run of the mill, decent but not great. We also ordered the peking duck. The dish comes with 10 bread rolls but you can order more for an additonal cost. The ducks pieces were sliced slightly thicker than I am used to but the taste was great. The service was great and there is plenty of parking.
google avatar

Eddie S.

Yelp
This place is ok if you like duck. I cannot say too much about it since I'm not much of a fan of duck but also was not bad. Parking is a nightmare here, be prepared to stalk patrons walking to their car and you better not feel guilty about it or somebody else with the same mind intention will get your spot. Service......well how do I rate it when I stood at a table for about 7 minutes without being greeted (there were about 3 tables and 3 people standing around) and this was at 11 a.m., no lunch rush yet. When suddenly my party gets here I am a person. The interior is pretty clean, was not loud (got the table surrounded by a wall and two glasses). Price for an order of duck and one other dish which I forgot I had was $37, a little steep for me but maybe that's the going price of duck. I will need to try this place again to give an update, I might have been a little harsh on this one. The best way to find this place which you can easily miss is to look for the "soldiers statue", yea that one.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
Was in town for a day & wanted to choose a place near Hong Kong Mall. Empty for a Sunday. Huge menu with plenty of Vietnamese & Chinese dishes. Had their Peking Duck (~$20 for a huge plate of meat & steamed buns). Good portion for the price! The duck had plenty of fat (that may or may not be good for some people). I would say Mr. Wok in Dallas and R&G in San Francisco are still my top choices for Peking Duck. Service was friendly!
google avatar

Tam N.

Yelp
It's unfortunate for me to write this low review because this is my go-to place for Peking duck and Mi Vit Quay, but the service we received today was unacceptable. We came in on a Sunday lunch. If you eat in Chinatown you'll know it's a war zone for any dim sum place and half of the other popular restaurants in the area. We wanted something low key so we went here in hopes of enjoying the usual Mi Vit Quay. We came in and they sat us. It was barely half full in there. We sat for a while looking at the menu just out of boredom and waiting for someone to come over. Then when we looked over, we realized the same lady that sat us also sat down another couple after us. Yet we see her getting their order, chit chatting, walking back and forth to bring them water and condiments, and still talking to them. We sat there staring her down hoping she would notice, but she didn't even look our way at all. We sat in the middle of the restaurant and it wasn't busy, so don't dare tell me you forgot we were here. We became restless and saw a third table of 3 that was sat after us and sat next to us. They were also attended by a different waitress. Again, we were ready to order and just looking like deer in the headlines hoping someone would come over. Finally, my husband tried to flag the waitress that sat the table after/next to us so we could order and she gave us a "wait" signal and proceeded to rather attend the table she had after us. We just ended up walking out after that. So sad and so mad. I love their duck, but I don't have the time for unfair treatment.
google avatar

Kristina N.

Yelp
I really like this place for Vietnamese food. It's family style but some of the portions aren't too big. I've been here a lot and I never see it really busy, so we never have to wait for a table. One thing to note is that the customer service here is really good, probably best out of all the other Asian restaurants. They always recognize my bf and I when we come in and always talk to us. They even remember that one time my bf came in when he was sick and asked how he was when we came back the next week!! What we usually get is some type of fried rice and a vegetable dish. My favorite is the roasted chicken fried rice, it was nothing what I expected. I think they give you a whole tiny chicken cut in half and it looks like it's kind of fried but it's not. The rice itself is really tasty as well. We've gotten the Peking duck and it's also really good here too. Pros: - Good value - Great customer service, friendly Cons: - Nothing

Yelp
Order Peking Duck (Vit Bac Kinh) then realized it has 4 legs. If someone want to try this funny restaurant you should check your food before bring them home to make sure they are not someone's leftover last night... Good Luck!!!
google avatar

Minh-Tam H.

Yelp
My cousin took me here for dinner and I was told that this place had the best Pecking duck in town! Let me tell you something... the rumors are true lol!!! The pecking duck (aka Vit bac kinh & banh bao) was sooo delicious and the skin was thin and crispy. It went so well with the bun. Sooo yummy!!! We also ordered the Special fried (flat) rice noodles (aka Hu tieu xao thap cam) and the Fish maw w/crab meat soup (aka Soup bong ca thit cua), which were very tasty too :)

Kenneth T.

Yelp
I like duck noodle soup , Perkins duck and bao, fries rice combinations., gà tiềm thuốc bắc.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and price: Noodle soup that comes with a 1/4 roasted duck. Tasty and affordable. Service is okay. Nothing too special. Bathroom is a little bit dirty to my standard. Overall, good food and great price. Will come back for these 2 things.

Yelp
This is my go to Peking Duck place! I've tried some of the other dishes such as snow pea tips with extra garlic and the muc rang Muoi but at the end of the day, it's just great comfort duck. Their buns are incredibly soft and the duck is the perfect crispy to meat ratio. You can split the duck between 3-4 people, depending on how hungry you are. Last night, I came with 4 people and we were delightfully full! The service has never been an issue for me but they know me as the duck girl since I ALWAYS order it!
