Chanced upon this place while looking up for places to eat in this night market - was very attracted to bowl of soup as it looked really good.
Surely enough it didn’t disappoint at all - the broth was hearty and fragrant and the noodles paired well with it. I ate my noodles separately from the soup and added the garlic chili sauce that was provided. The vegetables were a bit bland. I’m someone that eats things rather salty so I added the sauce to the soup as well. I would totally come back here again in future if the opportunity arises! Probably the best meal I had so far in Taipei.

Reached at 450pm, there was already a Q. Store was only open at 510pm. Food was served quickly, the whole store is filled with sesame smell. Was really looking forward to this meals since it was highly recommended by YouTuber. But nah, I think any home cooked chicken soup tastes much better. The chicken was hard and it’s wasn’t soft. The soup is lacking of flavors. The rice and noodles was nice and flavorful. Not worth to travel down to try.

super no frills place with amazing food - the 麻油雞 was tender and the soup was nice and clean with a good balance of sesame oil flavour. Really liked the 豬腰 as well - cooked perfectly so it's not too dry. But the absolutely standout was the 雞油飯 - rice drizzled in savory chicken oil sauce with crunchy garlic

Saw great reviews on XHS so we made the effort to find this shop when we went to the night market.
Not sure if the owner forgot about salt? But the soup was mega bland and tasteless. Only smell like sesame oil.
The chicken thigh was big but wasn't tender or flavourful. Felt like it was boiled in water for 30mins.
So dissapointed cause we took time to queue and waited for approx 15-20mins after ordering.
Maybe this is how locals have their sesame chicken? but im not too sure about this.
Not recommended. Overhyped.

Never had a chicken soup so bland in my life. Chicken itself also tasted like nothing. The best part was the sauce of the noodles. Service also was kind and fast. Other than that a very underwhelming experience.

The hype and the Michelin recommendation are real... This is the best sesame oil chicken in Taipei. The soup is rich with flavor without being oily, the sesame and wine are not overpowering. I got the chicken thigh and the meat was tender and cooked just right. Be sure to get the sesame oil dry noodles to cap off a great meal !

Nice soup but a little over-rated in my opinion.
Soup is not fragrant with sesame oil, and more on the bland side (a little more saltish would be perfect even for me who don’t like too much salt).
The portion is generous, and reflected on the price (about NT150). The vermicelli is nice.

Not the most convenient place to visit, but to get to taste of the 麻油鸡汤 and 麻油面线 worth the travelling and the wait.
Absolutely rich and tastiful soup with very juicy chicken at an affordable price. Not to miss if you are a fan of 麻油 stuff.
I would say that this is a must-have if you are in taipei
