One of mine and my family’s TOP meals in our whole week trip to Portugal. The food was insanely good!!!!!!! My hard to please dad literally could not stop mentioning how delicious everything was. The cod dish wasn’t something we originally ordered but the lovely lady (likely the owner?) kinda pushed it on us and we were sooooo happy she did. It was amazing and something we would have never thought to order for ourselves. It ended up being my dad and husband’s favorite dish. The servers were all super kinda especially considering I had a very loud and mischievous toddler at the table. He got a free little ice cream treat and it was so sweet! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Portuguese dining experience!

Yummy and fresh! Soup of the day was a delicious bean and cabbage. Sea beam and octopus were perfectly cooked! Pineapple and coconut tiramisu was interesting good and cooked by one of the women there. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a reasonably priced restaurant with generous quantities!

While searching for authentic Portuguese food, we stumbled upon A Nova Estrela — and we’re glad we did. Even though the place was busy, the owner took the time to serve us personally, explain the menu, and share his best recommendations. The food was simply exquisite. We started with a fresh salad and then enjoyed two main platters, all at a very affordable price. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable, making the whole experience feel welcoming and genuine. Definitely a spot worth visiting for authentic flavors and friendly service!

Amazing lunch! We had the fish (sea bream) of the day, octopus and cod with potatoes, along with a pitcher of white wine sangria. Everything was absolutely delicious. The sea bream was so fresh and well seasoned. The octopus was the most tender we ever had. Very reasonably priced for how delicious everything was. I also highly recommend the white wine sangria. It was refreshing and not too sweet.

The octopus was the best I’ve ever had! So tender and melt in your mouth. Never had anything like it. And the garlic potatoes were perfectly garlicky. We also ordered the fish of the day which was well seasoned and super tender, and the grilled cod which was also very tender. This was our favourite meal in Portugal: fresh seafood, authentic flavours and overall a great experience. We came around noon with no line up and by the time we left around 1:30pm there was a little bit of line.

The best meal we had in cascais! Had the shrimp curry which was so tasty! Chocolate cake was the best I've had. Reasonable prices. Polaroid picture was a lovely touch. Service very very good. Couldn't recommend this place any more!!

Wow!! If you’re in Cascais, this is your FIRST place to eat at!! It’s a local Portuguese place, food was super delicious (and I’m not even into fish just came for my husband who loves seafood) but I fell in love with everything !! The fish tasted so different from that we have in the USA. The owner was AMAZING!! So friendly, and informative. The staff was also very friendly. We tried the fish and chips, and the octopus. Delicious place. Thank you for making me change my opinion about fish :)) 🤍

Google
Amazing dinner in Cascais. The octopus with potatoes is a must, ask about the dish for the day, the sea bream was fresh and tasty. Service was impeccable, the staff were very friendly and kind. They even took a Polaroid of us and gave the picture to us at the end of the meal, was a very nice touch to this mom and pop shop.

Yelp
My wife and I were in Portugal and we took a day trip to Cascais and we kinf of just walked around. We did see this place on Yelp and I was jonesing for a whole fish. I decided to get some olives with my beer. I ate half of them before my big beer came! I ordered a whole sea Bream and a couple baskets of bread. The whole fish was spectacular and the veggies were done to perfection! We actually met a couple of women next to us and we say them the next day 40 miles away in the Lisbon Hills! Reasonable price and fantastic service.

Yelp
Up from the Main Street and busy Cascias alleys is this little gem. We were greeted immediately and sat down at a lovely patio table where you could feel the cool breeze up from the bay. We had a pitcher of Sangria that was amazing and so refreshing. I had the grilled octopus, and my friend had the steak, and we shared local cheeses and Portuguesas sausage. It was all very good. The octopus was so very tender and sautéed with butter and garlic in a bed of roasted fingerling potatoes. The steak was very flavorful, in a pool of gravy with a fresh fried egg, and a mound of crispy French fries. The cheese and sausage plats were plentiful and the bread and crackers were a perfect accompaniment. Worth the trip up the hill for a visit. The octopus was worth the visit, alone!!

Yelp
The best octopus in the kingdom! The garlic shrimp was incredibly delicious also! The owner is quite the character. Very motherly. Makes you feel like you are sitting in her kitchen at home. Lot's of nice touches especially at the end of your meal. Dined there twice while we were in Cascais and wanted to go back a third time.

Yelp
Amazing food and hospitality. It feels like being at home as the owner constantly makes sure you have everything you need and are satisfied with the food.

Yelp
My family ate here based on a recommendation from a friend who lives in the area. Oh man am I glad we did! The food was excellent, the service was warm inviting, and fast! It is very family friendly, they had special kid cups and plates for our small kids. the grilled octopus was my favorite (i am still thinking about it, it was so delicious! ) the dessert was also incredible! If you are looking for delicious, reasonably priced traditional Portuguese food, this is the place to come!

Yelp
Went here twice during our stay in Cascais it was our favorite meal while in Portugal. It's a small restaurant with very friendly people. The polvo/ grilled octopus was INCREDIBLE. Even down to the side potatoes were delicious. The second time around we came we had fish of day sea bass which was also the best sea bass I've ever had . Incredible food at reasonable prices. At the end of the meal they give you a souvenir mini Polaroid to remember your meal and also some port and almond liquor on the house. This is a meal to be remembered for a long time.

Yelp
Wonderful authentic and off the touristic area. Service was excellent the owner and hostess was excellent. We needed a salad and had the "Greek Salad" not what I consider a Greek salad but really good followed by the octopus, cooked tender and perfect! Love this restaurant!

Yelp
Best service in all of Portugal! After being treated rudely by a couple restaurants, we came here after seeing all the good reviews. The servers were so kind and welcoming. They were so helpful and the food was amazing. We had the fish and chips and the fried cuttlefish and loved them. They were crispy and delicious. We also had the berry topped cheesecake that was delightful. The servers take a polaroid picture of you and give you the picture to keep at the end of the meal! We also got complimentary almond wine at the end, which topped of this amazing experience. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you're in Cascais!

Yelp
This restaurant is just what we wanted: friendly atmosphere, good service and excellent food. We often eat octopus and this may be the best I ever had!

Yelp
Looking for a place that doesn't serve "menu turistico"...we wanted the real deal and we got it! Rosie, the owner shared her recommendations and they were spot on...polvo a lagareiro (grilled octopus) is the bomb!

Yelp
We saw the good reviews and decided to go out of our way to go to the restaurant. We order, eat, and go to pay and are then told the establishment doesn't take cards - cash only. After I ask if there's a sign he tells me it's at the front of the window (which I looked for and couldn't find). I gave them feedback that they should really tell us this before we sit down and he lets me know I shouldn't worry there's an atm he would send me to if I didn't have enough. Well that doesn't cut it because what if I don't want to pay an atm fee or in my case I never get cash advances from a credit card. His response to that was that people always ask first so the onus is on me I guess to assume that they aren't a modern business that takes credit card. Besides this annoying fact the food wasn't anything special. Fries were cold, waiter seemed rude, arrogant and unfriendly, creamy cod with cornbread tasted like a bunch of rice and potatoes with a tiny bit of cod. I would not recommend.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience in this little cozy place. The service was excellent and very friendly. The food and wine was amazing. We were a party of five and ate our way through the seafood section with every dish being perfect. I can highly recommend this gem of a restaurant and we will definitely be back soon.

Yelp
I had the bacon wrapped chicken. One of the best things I've had. Perfect saltiness. We also shared the octopus, which was amazing. Fish and chips were also good. Fries were cooked well and the sauce that came w the fish and chips was SO good. Service was great, the waitress was so kind to my family. Definitely recommend.!!

Yelp
Very small and quaint but eclectic family owned restaurant. Great seafood. Had the bacalhau and grilled octopus which were both great. Homemade desserts and almond aspertif were incredible. Very friendly and great customer service.
