What a wonderful place! Our family was looking for a nice place to sit down and have some drinks together and we were so fortunate to stumble upon A Simple Bar! Our bartender Sergio went above and beyond to make our day memorable. We received the best Margaritas we have EVER had in our lives. It was my boyfriend’s birthday and we will remember this forever! Thank you everyone at A Simple Bar!

I like a simple bar...but remember, it's a simple bar. I met friends there for a bday and they were all at least 10 years younger than me. Had a good time but definitely for a younger crowd. I stayed for about 1.5 hours.

This is definitely a dope spot. Really good music and vibes the people are pretty easy going and the energy is consistent you will for sure have a good time. If you are a visitor definitely check this spot out for all of your hiphop and r&b needs

Cool little hole in the wall right by Universal. They had open mic night (hip hop) on the Wednesday night I went. What I love is they have Peroni beer!!!!!

Small spot but it's a good time! Dj was rockn, drinks are strong, no line, no Hollywood-ness. Def had a good time, I'll be back.

Great drinks. Decent accessibility. I didn't make use of any patio or restroom space while i was there. Front entry is a smidgen narrow for anyone in an "oversized" powerchair. The best accessibility space i found, for an "oversized" powerchair, was yet again, directly under the speakers. Music was good, if over stimulating for anyone sensory-avoidant. I managed with earbuds.

Great atmosphere! Lit music small area for dancing tho. You can reserve tables. Liquor section was on point. I got a coctail called a pineapple upside-down, vanilla vodka and pineapple juice.

This place is awesome! Everyone was warm and welcoming...including the doorman, bartender, and security officer. The bartender had a heavy pour, advised everyone when happy hour was coming to a close, and even gave me a free tequila shot when he found out I was celebrating my birthday! The dj was good. The single person bathroom was decent and there was enough parking in the lot. No complaints here! Just can't figure out why the place wasn't packed...

We came here around 9:30 pm on a Saturday, just in time for the tail end of happy hour! They have 2-for-1 cocktails from 8-10 pm every day.. Such a steal. I got the Sippin on Gin and Juice, and my friend got the Miami Mojito. The decor in here is fun, casual, and energized with neon lights and a disco ball. The bar was full, but the rest of the place was pretty empty when we were here. The crowd was diverse, and the staff were very kind and friendly. Great find! Parking was easy in the lot outside as well.

This bar is awful. The drinks are overpriced. The parking is bad. It's insanely loud.

I was here on a Sunday around 9ish It's super chill spot, not to loud you can still have a conversation. Drinks are on point. Bartender super nice and helpful, he said that Fridays and Saturdays are busy and good dancing. Check it out, won't regret it.!

Fun place but definitely watch you tab/bill. Bartenders overcharged us multiple times. Charged us full price during happy hour and then on my friends $60 tab at the end of the night they added a $100 tip. It was remedied but we definitely do not trust this establishment.

I've only been here for about 15 min, and this is the perfect place to go and kick it on the weekend or after work. You're greeted at the door by security, checking id's. DJ is in point, atmosphere and energy is high, on a 10. Everyone is vibing and having a good time. Definitely will be back for a weekend to check the vibe as it's just a Thursday night.

Awesome bar. Was there last night for my cousins birthday, had a blast! Drinks are good but expensive. The vibe/people were so nice. Security guards were even dancing to the music. Cool place, will most likely return.

Wanted to like this bar but had a few hiccups that I could not look past. First off my cousin and I got there just before 11 and the seats at the bar were all put away. We asked for a couple of chairs and were told to get there earlier. Then a couple that had chairs at the bar left, when we went to grab the seats the bartender or bar boy , not sure who he was , took them away and didn't let the two of us sit down. Other than that the music was good, had a decent mix. Drinks were good, pricey for sure, but good. Guess a little too good because when I checked my charges the next day they charged me twice for my last drink. Definitely keep your receipts and check your bill. If I do go back I will be using cash . Also no heels since seats are not guaranteed.

While the drinks may have been a bit on the expensive side, the quick and friendly service, along with the exceptional quality of the drinks, made it a worthwhile investment.

Happy Hour: Everyday 5pm-8pm HH Special: 2 for 1 cocktails We were in the area on a Saturday evening so we decided to stop by for their happy hour. It was just like the first time we were here, the place had a couple of patrons and the mood was chill. I got a Kin's Lemonade and a Suzuki Sour. If you're a fan of whiskey and lychee that's the drink for you. If you want something a little more sweet and fruity try the lemonade. If you're looking for a calm before the storm type of feel, this is the place for you. Around 9pm it starting picking up and the people who had tables reserved starting trickling in. You can definitely feel the shift in the bar and the lights start changing to fit the mood. I love the work that Min and Issac put into the bar and it was really interesting to see the place change moods. One of these days I'll have to come back for the nighttime events!

They have an awesome happy hour (5pm-8pm everyday) where they have 2-for-1 specials on their cocktails among other deals. Both times I've come here have been during the day or during their happy hour so I haven't experienced being here at night. At around 9pm on a Saturday night it started getting more crowded and by 10pm there was a line out the door. I ordered the Miami mojito ($16) and the kin lemonade ($16). I could taste a lot of the mint and the alcohol in the mojito which I loved since other mojitos I've tasted usually have more soda water than anything else. The kin lemonade has a sour taste with the lemon and lime juices but the sugar rim really helps balances the flavors out. I thought both of them were really good! I've met the owners Isaac and Min before and they are just awesome people! They talked about the history about their bar and all the details they added to it from the lights to the sound. They really put a lot of effort into their store and it really pays off!

I attended on a Friday night. My friends and I had an amazing time. It's a small establishment, but has ample seating and a big enough dance floor for dancing. The DJ played a mix of hip hop and reggaeton. The music is great, the crowd is diverse with a good welcoming vibe. The bartender was very nice and friendly. They don't have food here, but the restaurant next door has quick bites. Loved my experience and I'll go back again.

I have been wanting to come here for a while and I am so happy I finally made it out. I went on a Saturday night after dinner so I made it just before the Saturday night crowd. The parking is fairly small, but you'll be able to manage. The bar is small and quaint and I love it. The bartenders are so friendly and always so helpful. Oddly enough there are a lot of bartenders working. You know how cars have two or maybe even three people at the bar, but there were six available. They make strong drinks here so another big plus. There are tables available for reservations if you have a party or seats available along the wall and bar stools are available. They have happy hour everyday from 5pm-8pm and it's 2 for 1 drinks. I'm all up for it.

Good place to party, really packed on fridays, cheap drinks that get the job done. Staff is friendly too.

An awesome hidden gem. Craft cocktails are on point every time. Fresh ingredients. Service is always top notch. Happy hour is a steal. Not to mention... SO CLEAN. Well taken care of. No sticky floors or that musty bar smell. This place smells good and that counts for a lot these days. Victor and his associates have always taken care of us. A true Universal City gem. Highly recommend for a cocktail.

Went on a Saturday night. Doesn't get going til after 10:30, got there early but LOVED the DJ spinning everything from KAYTRAMINE to classic hip hop and in between.

After attending a Yelp Even here a couple weeks ago, I found myself back in the area on a Monday afternoon with my wife. We just finished seeing a taping of Jimmy Kimmel, and on the way back home, I said, "Hey, Lets go to that awesome bar I went to." So, my wife and I stopped in for a drink. It was about 6pm, but happy hour goes from 5-8 during the week. Unfortunately, I just missed Isaac, so left moments before. Sam was there, being trained how to bar tend. He remembered me from the Yelp event, so it was great to see him. There were a couple others in the bar, mostly regulars, but it was nice to cool off, sit down and have a drink with my wife. I had the American Donkey, which was a delicious as I remembered it. My wife had a glass of wine, which is a great deal during happy hour ($4 off!!!). We were only there for about 45 minutes, but it was a great stop on the way home, and I'm glad I got to try it out again after the Yelp bartending class. I will be sure to continue to stop by when I'm in the are for a drink and to enjoy the happy hour. I'm glad that I was introduced to such an awesome location! The drinks are amazing, by the way!

Oh my god! I love this place. From the front it's unassuming but it's gets going. Daniel the bartender made me a amazing spicy margarita. Every other Friday is battle of DJ's and gets packed. Highly recommend:)

Driving by this little gem for years I never imagined that every! but every single time I would come here I would get extra lit LOL!! OMAIGAWD I've also had some great memories of super fun times. I think I can look back and say I have had so much fun here drinking and dancing. Oh by the way I always pay for it for the next day with a cute little hangover ughhhh. The bar is located in a strip mall at the same location as a Starbucks and a pizza place right on Cahuenga next to the south 101 entrance. From the outside this place looks like your standard local bar. But this place is far from your generic bar it is such a really cool little bar with great vibes and really cool, non judgmental friendly people (very diverse crowd) plus pretty cheap drinks. The bartenders are attentive and not snobbish like other places. The drinks are STRONG!... that's what I need to remember. I am not to sure about the dress code but every time I have been here people are either dressed up or just casual. I have been on Friday or Saturday nights and the music is mostly hip hop with other type of mix. There is no cover. Just writing this up makes me want to come by this next weekend.

The bar tenders are racist against black people. I'm Latina and I had to say to the bar tender that my friends were here first. This isn't our first time here. We've had different experiences but tonight it's been the worst whether you're short staffed or not. Also, the dj can't transition his songs right.

So we came here for a bday party this past weekend and was pretty satisfied with the experience. Got there ahead of the group and it was a little empty for Friday night, but it was early. It did get packed as the night progressed. Our table was reserved form our group and we had about 15 people. I can say from the outside and location i thought I was in for a not good surprise. As this spot is located in a small strip mall, but it was a good surprise inside. The inside is cozy, but the way the lounge is arranged it's bigger then it appears. Plenty of room dancing as the DJ spins all night long. They have a wide variety of drinks and even offer bottle service if you like. Overall I can say I was quite impressed with the location and the drinks and service were top notch.. if I'm in the area again I would def stop by.

A Simple Bar is located in a small strip mall and you wouldn't notice it as you're driving by if you didn't already know to look for a cocktail bar here. True to what others have written, it was easy for our group to stop at this low-key lounge on a Thursday night for birthday drinks following dinner. We found seats for all of us in the corner and the service was fantastic. We arrived around 7:30 pm in time to catch the end of happy hour and it was still on the mellow side so we were able to carry on conversations which I always appreciate. Since I picked this stop without having scouted it, I was relieved and my friends were impressed. I had the ISUKI SOUR because I love Japanese whisky and I love lychee. I sipped on some other drinks too and overall the cocktails were solid.

My husband and I decided to go after coworkers stood us up..... We are not from California.... so we didn't know where/ what dance bars to go to.... After browsing Yelp and seeing all the positive reviews that is where we decided to go. (Saturday night) We arrived around 10 and got a great parking space in the front of the bar.(There is limited spaces) Everyone was cool! Even the security! I loved the fact that the security explained what they was going to do before searching...By 10:30-10:45 the place was packed ! Great vibes! Great music! Shout out to DJ X-men!Daniel our bartender was very cool and attentive too !

First of all, the bartenders here did a fantastic job, quickly shaking up solid cocktails on a very busy night! The atmosphere here is both intimate and lively -- everything is bathed in a red light from the neon lights behind the bar. The Old Fashioned cocktail was solid, I also did one of the check-in deals and tried the Coconut Mojito (but I would have written this recommendation without the freebie, honestly!). Why? Because sometimes a well-made Old Fashioned is hard to find in this city! In short, this is a good place to try on the tail end of a trip to Universal Studios or the Citywalk.

Overall, I am super impressed with this bar! My boyfriend & I came in right at 5pm for some happy hour on the way out of downtown back to The Valley. We stumbled upon this gem by searching the Yelp map and it was an easy pit stop off the freeway. The reviews truly are an honest testament to the service, ambiance, and overall experience. Drinks are killer, music is choice, atop provoking conversations with the staff. Clean bar and restrooms. Daniel is engaging and was inquisitive to learn my and my bf's preferences. Marcial was conversational in sharing the history of the bar. Only these famous last words come to mind: "I will be back!"

This place NEVER fails me lol I can confidently say that I always have a great time here without fail. The bartender is super sweet! It is a small place but that's literally the only downside. The music is AMAZING, it's never just one type of music. You go from oldies to new songs, from hip hop to r&b to regaeton music. It's like a melting pot with different people. All good vibes here!

It's literally a simple bar. Sure it's a little out of the way in Hollywood but don't be fooled, it's probably one of the better bars out there. It's well kept, cozy, and the bartenders are some of the best out there. They also got some pretty nice specialty cocktails that aren't terribly expensive like many other bars out there. There's seating along the back and a dance floor where the DJ plays great music. You will most definitely have a better time here than any other bar because the crowd is generally much more well mannered and respectful, at least when I went. There was no trace of pretentiousness at all here and the experience was overwhelmingly positive from the moment you get ID'd by the bouncer to the moment you leave.

We had a great time celebrating 2 birthdays at A Simple Bar on a recent cold Saturday night. Located in a plaza close to the Starbucks near Cahuenga & Barham. There was a line outside when we got there but we got in right away. Door man was super cool. As were the bartenders and bar backs. The place is small so on a busy night, it can definitely get crowded and hot in a hurry. Everyone had a great time and the drinks were aplenty. We had a section reserved for us that helped out a lot with the place being as crowded as it was. We appreciate that. Limited parking in a shared lot or along Cahuenga.

The happy hour at this unique location is incredible! The prices are fantastic and the cocktail options are superb and artisan. The nod to David Lynch in the corner was such a nice touch. A very cool atmosphere with neon lighting and comfortable seating.

Always such a great experience here! I've been here on crowded nights as well as slower nights on a weekday. The service is always so consistent no matter what. From the door man, to the bartenders - everyone is super friendly and respectful. Just met the bar owner the other night and he's as real as it gets. You can tell they all have a great relationship and are happy because it's reflected in how they treat their guests. There's always good music spinning regardless of the day of the week. Wish every bar was like this!

First off...any establishment that wants to pay me to drink there gets five stars (they offer 7% cash back). No need for a second off. Ok, fine...second off, Min and Isaac are just plain rad. They make celebrating a bday (or the fact that it's a Tuesday) a real treat. Contacted them about hosting a bday for a gfriend and it was a no-hassle situation. You tell them how many in your party...they reserve the space for you (no charge, no minimum spend), and voila...you and your friends just come and go as you please (no cover). They'll even send you a round of shots as a thank you for being there (ummm...no, THANK YOU). Music was very much our cup of tea last Sat night, happy hour goes until 8pm, and you can bring food (pizza and donuts in our case) as you see fit.

So I thought I was having a great time at this place, it being my first time and all. Unfortunately I got hit up by 3 guys and I defended myself. However security seems to think its easier to kick the "victim" out opposed to kicking out the "assailants." I also noticed a woman telling the security guard that there was a man harassing her and her friends which I did notice. The security guard went on to tell the man there was a complaint about him. The man continued and yet was not escorted out. I got hit up by 3 guys and I was escorted out!? What's the agenda here? Can't control your own establishment??? Your security guards have a great personality but horrible judgement! I wish I could say I would come back, because of this incident and everything I noticed I give you guys 0 stars! No apology or comp. can fix any of this. Great place for drinks but just bring your thug life with you.

This place is a local perfect watering hole / hole in the wall. :) Dark and windowless with neon lights, this place creates a nice vibe for escaping life and grabbing a drink. There happy hour specials are pretty phenomenal and the bar tenders make some seriously good cocktails. We hit them up in the early hours of happy hour on a Friday night but got to experience the shift into more of a dance club vibe as the night went on. Was pleased with the music and mixed crowd. Highly recommend for happy hour, and/or perhaps if you're trying to host a group gather (i.e. birthday celebration, etc.).

If this bar was in San Jose, where I'm from, I'd definitely be a regular. My friend and I were looking for a spot that had happy hour on a Saturday and decided to go to this place - and we were not disappointed. The bartenders were so amazing and accommodating. We only had time to stay there for an hour but it was definitely a highlight of our evening. Next time I'm back in Hollywood, we're definitely stopping by here for a drink!

What a nice surprise! Had dinner dts at Mercado and walked over to this bar. It's about a 5 min walk. I had no expectations, arrived at around 11pm and the place was bumping! Great music, very diverse hip hop from the 90s to present day. No cover, a diverse crowd, awesome music, attentive bartenders what else do you want? I mean the place is not very big but you can definitely make room to show off your dance moves. Seems like a locals bar. Some people were in jeans and a tee and some guys were wearing suits. All in all a pretty cool night. Drinks were stiff which is good. I had Absolute Vanilla and Diet Coke $8 each. Check it out on a low key night.

The music is ok Dj needs to learn how to mix and the drinks are way over priced. I had 3 bullet bourbons and it was $45. A bottle at target is $29. Rip off never again

Had an Old Fashioned here. It was just fine. Bartender did a good job. But $20?? In a dive bar, within a strip mall? We went to Tao right after, with millions of dollars of interior design and people dressed to the nines, and spent $18/ea on our next round of Old Fashions. Even that's steep, but expected in a place like that. A dive bar should be that place you go consistently. You get your drink on, "pre-party", if you will... not at $20 a pop though.

Came here for a birthday party! Small, clean bar with great music and vibes. It got a bit crowded given the size of the venue, but all in all a great spot to grab a drink. Surprisingly enough it's in a strip mall, but once you're inside you forget you're next to a Starbucks. Definitely recommend.

My friend and I sat at the bar and looked at the menu. I was in a mood for some cocktails and they served up some very tasty high quality mixed drinks (not waking up with a hangover is a plus). Friendly bartenders, there's happy hour until 8pm and a DJ who spins hip-hop. Aces!

Went there last night which our group of 5 thought to support our friend Ron. He was DJing. Lo and behold Isaac and Daniel aka Logan were superb!! They made us feel very comfortable. In fact the whole staff were very pleasant and polite. I'm not a margarita drinker at all as I normally drink beer. Isaac makes some dang good margaritas that I ended up drinking the many different flavored ones throughout the night. The place is very clean and this is an amazing atmosphere. They are very respectful and thoughtful of their clientele as everyone was having lots of fun. I will patronize Simple Bar again and again as long as Isaac and Logan are there.

A feel like this place is a hidden gem in the middle of a strip mall. When I walked inside, I was like WOW, this is cool! Super quaint spot, with a DJ that posts up on weekends and plays fun music you can dance too. There's no dance floor, but definitely space for dancing. The bartenders were nice and will make whatever you like.

Love it here. Full glasses of delicious wine. Clean bathroom with good towels and soap/hot water. Did I say clean? Owners are sweet, down to earth, solid, good people. Gorgeous interior-they pay attention to detail and give you the good glasses, booze, napkins, organic cherries, orange and lemon slices, etc. They don't cheap out here and it shows. It's about time the Cahuenga Pass has a bar like this. . As long as the crowd doesn't turn ghetto this place will be a favorite with locals and should do well. Slow and steady to build quality and lasting local customers will trump over the fad and temporary fickle customers that follow the city's club promoters Keep it up A Simple Bar, you are a welcomed delight to the neighborhood.
