Yelp
So excited to have found this place (thanks, Yelp!) because they're serving up the closest thing I've found to NY style pizza in MN.
I just returned from my first-ever trip to NYC a week ago, and I came back a changed woman. Changed in that after I had NY pizza, I realized I'd been cheated my entire life out of what pizza passes for here in the Midwest (and most other places). See I'm a fan of thin crust pizza, but I don't like it to be to wet/floppy--it must have a crunch the entire way through. That's exactly what I found the pizza to be like in NY, and believe me I ate a LOT of pizza--6 different places in 2 days, as a matter of fact. I was like an out-of-shape 30-ish Midwesterner version of a teenage mutant ninja turtle out there when it came to pizza. I was unstoppable and as I boarded the plane to return home, I grabbed one last slice to soak up my tears of knowing I might never have pizza exactly the way I like it until one day I could return to NY.
I ordered two slices of cheese to go. This place is TINY, maybe 5 little tables. There was a soccer game blaring from the TV which was why I deducted one star--I don't know what kind of chant or whistles were coming from the stadium crowd but it was damn near deafening and I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there, it was making me anxious.
The crust was perfect!!! The sauce also had that slight sweetness that I found to be consistent with the NY pizza I tried. The cheese was just the right amount. Overall the flavor was maybe a LITTLE bland but what do you expect from plain cheese pizza?! Nothing a little shake of garlic salt and red pepper flakes can't fix, and I add that to all pizza anyway.
Sorry, Punch and Luce, but this place is my jam now.
