We’ve eaten here when it was Capitol Cider but this was our first time back with it being a/stir. I’m so glad they kept some of our favorites on the menu and still have amazing ciders. They have some great mocktails and n/a ciders as well. The crispy fish and chips were still just as good and the new apps were tasty, even for the part member that doesn’t need to eat gluten free. He ordered the fried cheese curds and loved them with the apple butter. Definitely worth a stop.

I went for a Jam Session night on Wednesday. Very jazzy, and talented musicians through. It's more like karaoke than an ad lib jam, so the band takes requests. There's a great atmosphere and good seating. The bar is nice and they have nice bartenders and drinks. I recommend dancing, because there's more than enough room to dance.

Had an amazing meal here as a gluten free person- my husband who eats gluten also loved it. Got the crab cakes, chicken special and fries. Also got the cookie dessert. Everything had so much flavor

As a celiac, this place was such a treat and I will definetly come back the next time I visit Seattle! Everything we tried was amazing and so fresh and perfectly balanced. EDIT: I’m really disappointed with how this whole experience ended. The server messed up the bill at check out so I was charged $176.4 and then she said she had to refund it and charge me again so now I’m out $300+ for one meal. She forgot to add an appetizer to the first bill so it didn’t process correctly and I had to be charged the full amount again to close out the tab. We didn’t intentionally order a 2nd appetizer but when we ordered our first she asked if we’d like bread and we said yes. Apparently thats a separate dish that wasn’t mentioned which was frustrating as well. Just really leaves a sour taste in your mouth after an amazing meal. 5 stars for food - 2.5 for service

What a great experience start to finish! We came in on a Wednesday at 7:00 without a reservation. They had just seated a very large party and told us up-front there would be a 10-15 minute wait for service, but that we could wait at the table and have drinks in the meantime if we liked, which I really appreciated! Plus, it gave us plenty of time to look at the menu, which was great since we had never been here before. The service was excellent. Our server, Jen (sp?) was very personable and friendly, and she had really good vibes! I enjoyed her energy! The entire team seemed to work really well together. They have a fairly large cider selection on the menu; I ordered the finnriver black current, and my husband had the 2 towns mango cosmic crisp. Both were delicious, I really loved the tart flavor of the black currant one. The crispy creole calamari was perfect; we really loved how it was served with the greens! And the sweet potato fries had just the right texture, nice and crisp on the outside. The corn mash that is served with the spanish flank steak was superb - the flavor was subtle and crept up on you a little with the perfect light sweetness. The steak itself was cooked to a perfect medium, and the chimichurri on top was great. My husband ordered the lemongrass encrusted sea bass and thoroughly enjoyed it. He said it was extremely flavorful, perfectly portioned, and that the outside texture of the fish was perfect. We are visiting from New York and were so excited to find a place with a fully gluten free kitchen! I do wish they had more dairy-free options, but both GF and DF can be a hard combination to find anywhere you go. Overall incredible experience here, what a treat!

Loved coming here with my gluten free girlfriend! This was my first experience in a restaurant that places such emphasis and quality for gluten free people and I was very happy. Some of our food came out pretty slow but our server was really nice and considerate. I would absolutely come for dinner again.

My party had multiple people with celiac and this place was perfect for everyone. The 100% gluten free kitchen was a huge relief. We were all able to enjoy different dishes together without worrying about cross contamination. The gluten free bread was fluffy and the fried appetizers were delicious. The main courses were exactly as advertised and we tried almost every dessert. The chocolate chip cookie and the banana bread pudding were some of our favorites. Lastly, our waiter was one of the best we’ve had in a while. He was extremely helpful, always making sure we had what we needed.

Outstanding! 1st time to have fried cod in 15 years! Great service from Jen! Pistachio ice cream, yes! First time fried cheese LOVER! YUM!

The service was excellent, and the restaurant was comfy. This meal is expensive, but it would be a lovely spot for a date night/celebration. One of the things I really appreciate about this place is that it is completely gluten free. I have a good friend who has celiacs, and does not get to enjoy certain foods most of the time; so, I really appreciate that they could eat things like the cheese curds. I tried the Fish and chips, cookies, calamari, and cheese curds. As a Wisconsinite I can say the cheese curds were solid. They were not mind blowing, but they were decent cheese curds (meaning delicious). The apple butter that came with the curds was delicious. The marinara wasn't that good though. To summarize the rest: Fish and Chips: Really tasty (especially the tartar sauce) The cookie: good Calimari: Probably the best thing I ate here. Unfortunately I did not grab any photos of it!

Stopped into A/Stir before a show. We were excited to try this spot because our friend is GF and we're always looking for a new place to go that is safe for them. We were sat quickly, but it was another 10 minutes before anyone actually acknowledged us at the table despite other tables (sat after us) having their orders taken. Staff was friendly if not a little absent minded. The person taking our orders talked over us a bit, and there were some issues at the end with the check that took a bit to straighten out. I ordered the smash burger, and it was okay, nothing to write home about, it could have used a bit more salt as I found it bland. The cheese curds were amazing. I would try again, based on other reviews. Maybe it was an off night for them.

Decided to try A Stir before a show recently. I'm guessing they where short staffed that night. It took a while before anyone came over to our table. When we did the waiting was friendly enough. A little pushy on extra stuff, especially when we indicated we had short time and needed to be quick. One of our table ordered the Cheese Curds and these where really good. Nice flavor and texture. I got the Deconstructed Dolma with the Fried Chicken Thigh add on. I'm so happy I got the chicken it was the best part of the dish. The bread was dense and did not have a lot of flavor. I would hardly call the rest any form of Dolma. It had no acid flavor at all. The big miss was the herbs. I couldn't taste any dill or mint. It was basically a bowl of ground lamb with slices of grape leaves. The evening ended just as poorly as it began. Our server tried to push dessert on us even though he knew we had to go. Then another staff took 5 times to split a 4 top check in two.

The apps last night were peak - cheese curds with apple butter and house marinara and mushroom risotto arancini. The entrees (lobster Mac and crispy chicken) were decent. My lobster Mac and cheese was maybe a little dry and felt less creamy and cheesey than I expected. My partner said he expected the crispy chicken to be a bit crispier on the skin but the sauce didn't really allow for that. Drinks were fun and service was really great! It was a fun pub vibe but still classy. Would definitely return for drinks and apps!

I went on a Wednesday for the jazz night which had a great turn out, all the tables were filled and people were dancing in front of the stage. My friends and I got dirty martinis which were pretty strong in our opinion, and I ended up getting the last olives which tasted really old so that was disappointing. Overall a really nice space, I definitely want to come again for another jazz night and try some other drinks. After seeing some reviews it also looks like I need to try the food too!

Stellar service and spectacular food. There is a well lit upstairs and a cozy dark and moody downstairs. We tried the sampler for $35 and the portions were satisfying and generous. I ordered Turkish salad Deconstructed lamb dolma Pistachio gelato Extra points for being gluten free and taking food restrictions as a serious standard for my food sensitive friends. Absolutely will be back!

Outstanding! Everything was so good, I didn't get pictures of it all!! Made a reservation online, got sat right away & the place filled up fairly quickly for a Sunday night. Music was RAD, everything played is in my collection!! Walked over from our hotel, parking is challenging in the area. The fish was delicious, I can't remember even having the option for gluten free fish and chips before... desserts YES! There was a chocolate cake I can't remember the name of! Just go eat your gluten free heart out - take people that aren't gluten free so they can appreciate what good gluten free is all about!!

Came on a weekday evening. It is probably the only place I know in Seattle where the full menu is gluten free. Kind of worked really well for my friend who is gluten allergic. I personally loved the enhanced mediterranean style food. The presentation of pillaf was something that really stood out. The rice stuffed in squash is pretty appealing. The egg plant recipe with yoghurt reminded me of Baba Ganoush. It was probably was that lol. The baguette - the gluten free one with some olive oil and sea salt can be a good mix to fill you up. Atmosphere is great, host is welcoming. One thing though is the portion size is not that great. But they cover that with their food presentation.

I've been wanting to try A Stir after passing by a couple times and seeing their menu. My friend and I stopped by for dinner on a weekday and we were prompty seen to a table. We ordered three items at first (1 app and 2 entrees), but we were still hungry after so we ordered another appetizer afterwards. Random note, but I think it's great that their entire menu is gluten free. - Roasted Crispy Brussel Sprouts: 3.5/5, while delicious, they were not crispy at all! The sauce made the brussel sprouts super soggy. I did like the shallot jam though. I'd recommend this but don't expect them to be crispy. - Dungeness Crab Cakes: 1/5, super salty :( I honestly liked the salad on the side more than the crab cakes. Both of us were disappointed by how salty this was. - Red Wine Braised Short Ribs: 4/5, I enjoyed this dish. Some parts of the rib were dry but other parts were really juicy. The mashed potatoes were great. I think the portion size is a bit small for $30 though. - Fried Cheese Curds: 3/5. I thought the cheese curds were good and the apple butter was great. I just don't think these two items go well together so I was feeling mixed about the dish. In addition, the marinara was super chunky (felt more like a salsa) so it didn't go well with the cheese curds either. The initial wait was a little long, we were starting to wonder where our food was when it appeared! I enjoyed most of our food but those crab cakes were pretty disappointing, especially as an entree. I think this is a great place to come for drinks pre-dinner but I don't think I would come back for a meal.

Came back again tonight with my family and so thrilled to have Harper again and meet owner Ton for the first time. Cheese curds and apple butter were delicious as I remembered and not an overhyped memory. I got all Gollum-like about the apple butter when anyone suggested clearing it away and Harper delightfully surprised me by bringing some to take with me!! Thank you, Harper, for again making such a lovely evening even lovelier. Beef short rib was amazing for 3 of us despite looking like a small portion. My aunt found it a bit too salty and joked that I'm so in love with the place that I overlook it, especially when we had McDonalds fries today and I specifically ask for no salt. Kids enjoyed their burger (little guy) and BLT FC (bigger guy), half of the BLT FC went to my uncle, so if diners are looking for a very satisfying portion then go for that. Yes, Ton, you would get the 7 stars if I could go higher than 5. Went here with some coworkers to welcome a new employee on our team. The new employee was celiac sensitive and this place is 100% gluten free which was cool. I went with the classic burger and my team members got the lobster Mac and cheese + crab cakes. They mentioned each dish was good. My burger was also quite tasty. Ambiance is a mix of modern and traditional victorian setting. Service was pretty good - I drank a lot of water and they were on top of refilling the bottles at the table. This is a good option for people who do have dietary restrictions like celiac sensitivity.

A Stir formally known as Capitol Hill Cider had promise but with this recent experience, it's left me perturbed. I sat at the bar for dinner with seating for 7-8 and it took nearly 8 minutes to be acknowledged while only 3 others guests were seated. I ordered the Red Wine Short Rib and although the flavor was GREAT, the rib was over cooked and tough to cut through leaving me pretty disappointed. The cider selection is phenomenal however, the experience outshined the cider flight. No water was offered the whole duration of my dining.

Excellent, conscientious service! Extremely accommodating menu and staff. Arrived with two sleepy kids and left full and happy. Beautiful decor, but still very laidback. Sat at a comfy booth. Definitely a place for everyone!

I don't usually write reviews but this experience was just awful. My risotto alla Milanese was super salty and i had to 9 extra dollars for a small portion of protein. My girlfriend's burger was overcooked. The only good thing was the fries and the drinks. Do not recommend.

it was great! I had the pumpkin soup and sweet potato fries, and it was all terrific. And it was terrific not to have to worry or ask about whether anything had gluten in it. The ambience was lovely... The booths are private and it was a great meal all around. I highly recommend.

Gluten free dedicated kitchen so we had to try this out. Chef/co-owner came out and was talking to diners and helping out as well. We got the $35 3 course meal along with other dishes so you can mix in some good value options with more people if sharing. The squid with orzo, the lobster Mac n cheese and eggplant lasagna was all very good and the kiddo loved the spaghetti so that just made the experience so much better. This is great for celiacs craving some good Italian cuisine that is gluten free.

I was lucky enough to check out A Stir (formerly Capitol Hill Cider!) and I loved the revamp they have done with the space! I checked out A Stir the dining room but did move downstairs to their new vibey spot! It was dead since it was still early but I would love to come back when there is live music! I love all the couches down there. We had such wonderful service by Amanda. She gave great suggestions for my indecisive self and had great explanations for every dish or drink we were thinking about. Really helped ease mind and I loved her upbeat personality and attitude! I love a wine/cider flight because I like to try a few different things! Both were unique and delish The roasted eggplant and yogurt was such a unique dish! I love the crunch of the beef. It was kind of smokey and a very filling dip Lobster mac and cheese was a special and so good!! Can never go wrong Lastly, the spanish flank steak was cooked to literal perfection. So soft and the chimichurri was such a great touch and I loved the cauliflower puree Everything is a gluten free and there are so many items on the menu that there is something for everyone!

This is probably my favorite restaurant of all time. I've been here twice when visiting a friend in Seattle and can guarantee we'll be back every time I'm in town. The food here is AMAZING! Between the two groups we've been with we've tried almost everything on the menu by now, and there is not a single thing we've disliked. The highlights though are definitely the crab cakes, short ribs, and the Brussels sprouts. We also tried the lemongrass sea bass special and it was to die for! Their desserts are amazing too, I love the apricot orange cake. It's wild to think this entire restaurant is gluten free, I'd never know it. All of the food comes out really quickly as well (less than 5 minutes in some cases), I honestly don't know how they do it. I honestly dream about this place and I can't wait to be back in Seattle so I can eat here again.

I've been to A Stir twice, once under it's old moniker Capitol Hill Cider and once under the new name. One of my friends has celiac and this one of the only places she can eat at. That being said, I would still come to A Stir anyway. It's a great Capitol Hill institution; there are a variety of choices on the menu, the food has always been fresh, and the service is friendly. I thought prices were reasonable considering the neighborhood, and I now live nearby and plan on coming back.

A dedicated gluten free restaurant is a rarity. The fact that everything we tasted was AMAZING, make it a true must on any visit to Seattle.

The food wild mushroom resotto, soup and the dessert is amazing. They also change their menu over time. So you are not stuvk to the same food. The staff is really nice. However, I wish they would increase the speed of the service a bit more. The interior is dark. I had to take menu close to the light to read. Seen a few flashlights at other tables. It can become noisy if there is a big party. But overall the food and the staff beats all to make it 5*

Kitchen closes four hours earlier than closing, and one hour earlier than posted on their website. Great if all you want is to drink gluten free beer you can get literally anywhere else.

Arrived around 6:30 and sat at the bar because the restaurant was full. Ciders were pretty dry but the 3 mead tasting flight was so sweet and delicious, especially the peach one!

Looking for gluten free fare in Seattle? Look no further than A/Stir, formerly Capitol Cider. We went recently ahead of a show at The Moore downtown. Our reservations were around 6pm, but we got there a bit early and were seated immediately, we had a cocktail before dinner, they made a great old fashioned. Service staff was wonderful and attentive. Started with an app (calamari) and the GF baguette. For dinner I had the souvlaki and she had the crab cakes. Everything was great and look forward to checking them out again soon!

The brussel sprouts had a nice flavor, but everything else I tried (risotto, lobster Mac & cheese, crab cakes) was so bland it was pretty much tasteless. Bummer. Also when I asked the server's opinion about a menu item she basically told me to just look at the menu (which of course I already had). What I ended up ordering was exactly what I was trying to avoid. Don't plan on going back. The space and music was nice though.

What a cute place! I went here with 2 of my friends, all in our 30s. The service was great! Most of us really liked our food. The Brussel sprouts as an appetizer were sooo tasty, perfectly seasoned. The tomat soup was really good, but trust them when they tell you the grilled cheese is mini. With the cheese curds though, it was perfect. The steak was fantastic! The meatballs dish was just okay. There were only 2 meatballs, and it wasn't the most flavorful dish. All in all, will return. There are so many things to choose from on the menu, so I feel like we haven't even scratched the surface.

Had my birthday celebrated here. The chef is super responsive and made the booking experience a breeze. The ribs and the wine were amazing too!.. looking forward to eating at a/stir again!

Had the burger medium rare and was perfect. Never had sweet potato fries and they were fabulous. Service was spectacular. Price was fair and just a wonderful evening.

So amazing and delicious!!! I got the eggplant dip, the farmers salad and the spaghetti with a piece of the fried chicken thigh. The pita and the eggplant were truly the best bites. I loved it all so much. It's all completely gluten free. I also got a gf IPA which is such an amazing option. Finally the chef owner was welcoming us and checked in many times. We had a reservation and heard a couple people were sent down stairs to the other part-so make a reservation for sure. The ambiance was chill and beautiful. We got a booth and loved it. Truly delicious and fun dining experience.

My friends and I went here for my birthday recently, and we received excellent service from our waiters. The main issue we had during our visit was inconsistency with our food. While some dishes came out fine, many of our dishes were lukewarm or cold, and the burgers were at the same time burnt. I think if it weren't for those two issues with the food, it would have been a good meal otherwise.

Ambiance is lovely and inviting. Food was delicious. Chicken sandwich was small but super tasty. Service decent but not fantastic. I always tip well regardless of service because I have lived off tips before. We loved the music playlist and it was not too loud. I have been here a couple times before the new management. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and the ambiance with tasty food

Yes, go! You won't be disappointed. A/Stir has a warm vibe with great food and service. My family traveled to Seattle to celebrate my Auntie's 85th birthday. The night before the party, we dined at A/Stir. Finding a restaurant for my Danish Aunties can be intimidating as their father was a chef known for perfection. I was intrigued by A/Stir's unique menu and thrilled with the gluten free kitchen for two guests with celiac disease. Our experience at A/Stir was wonderful. We were all pleased with our choices. The crab cakes were moist and flavorful, the chicken pesto rigatoni was well flavored and noodles al dente, and the fries were crispy on the outside/tender on inside. Portion sizes were perfect and staff attentive. I'll return to A/Stir on my next trip to Seattle.

Yummy food, fun and tasty cocktails (and mocktails), great wine list, and a nice atmosphere. After dinner we went to the downstairs bar with a speak-easy vibe. There is a selection of board games and we had a blast laying Clue while sipping drinks. I'll be back!

Such an amazing experience tonight! We had no reservation, on a busy Saturday, but the owner went out of his way to find us a table. My celiac daughter was 100 percent safe! I had the BEST filet mignon I've ever had, and I'm from Montana and grew up on a cattle ranch. Perfect sear!

where do I begin? This was the worst experience at a restaurant. I've had in decades... especially the . This place should be shut down for their poor customer service, lack of care, and poor management. Stay clear!

Nope. Just yuck. Food was bland and mediocre, other reviews about missing salt were right. Not recommending and not returning. Wish I took a photo of the food but definitely looks nothing like their online menu, portions are small to the point of being awkward

Service was amazing, but food was alright. The calamari seasoning was great but felt like it was heated rather than fried? It wasn't crunchy. The meze plate was good, but nothing so special. Enjoyed the vibes here though!

Amazing amazing place! I have celiac and we go here for any special occasion we can. The food is always delicious, never disappoints. The service is always kind and helpful, the menu frequently provides new dishes. My favorite place to bring people without worrying about gluten.

We were here to celebrate with a party of 6 for a birthday dinner. There weren't many other people in the restaurant. The service was odd because each dish came out as they were made rather than all at once. Could do way better with timing and service. I would say it was overpriced for the portion size. I got the rigatoni and it was small and some of the pasta undercooked with a mere 4 slices of dry chicken. They charged us 22% gratuity automatically which was a little absurd for the service we got. Overall, not impressed but with a little work on timing of service and a little more service coordination, I think it could meet the price they are charging.

Awesome gf food! We came back twice! Best fish and chips I've ever had (including the full gluten kind).

New Chef does not follows simple food principles. Bacon was raw in the middle and burnt on the ends. Mushroom risotto used to be my favorite in the city, but neither me or my partner could stomach it. Mushroom taste is present but the risotto, cream, Parmesan are completely absent. Under salted to the point it tastes of paper. We were excited about the new Tipsy Shrimp, but its watery polenta with pizza flavored grease on top. :/ I love pepperoni grease more than I should but this is just disgusting. Lastly and what should have been the sign to stop, the Brussels sprouts were flavorless on their own, coated in more "aioli" than any one could eat, no caramelization, and half of them undercooked or just raw. Who gets Brussels sprouts wrong? Looking through his previous experience it seems like he's lacking training under other chefs that would have helped round out the flavors and techniques. Good news, the bar manager is the same. So head in for their amazing cider and beer selection, but eat before you go.

Good service, a talented bartender, and delish food! We will definitely return. Hubster had the mushroom risotto while I thoroughly enjoyed the braised short-rib. We will return!

Similar to what others have said, the service is terrible. The staff isn't friendly and even a little on the rude side. I've never been to an establishment where it feels as if you're burdening the staff just by being there. The food is okay, but definitely not worth the poor service.

Delicious food and dedicated GF. I have gluten, dairy, and coconut allergies and was able to enjoy! Service was great and servers were knowledgeable about food sensitivities.

As someone who doesn't have gluten sensitivity, I came with a friend who does and I was very pleased with the entire experience. The food and drinks were amazing and I highly recommend.
