The 29 Best Restaurants In Lisbon - Lisbon - The Infatuation

"At the top of the Graça neighborhood is a tiny tavern decorated with classic wood paneling and tiles. The menu mixes Japanese and Portuguese cuisines, which you can try by ordering à la carte or through the ten-course tasting menu. Both the grilled sardine nigiri and the sardine flan are excellent, and are different from anything else you’ll find in Lisbon. After you eat, walk around Graça and head up to the viewpoint to see the city below." - rita geraldes

Google
Absolutely amazing! 10 courses for 35 euro is excellent value and the courses themselves were expertly prepared, innovative, and delicious. The wine I ordered was also fantastic. While all of the Portegeuse people I have interacted with this trip have been very friendly, the staff here were exceptionally warm & professional. I don't think I can ever come back to Lisbon without having a dinner here again!

I am on holiday from England and myself and my other half came here for my birthday and it was exceptional! We did the tasting menu of 10 courses and every dish was lovely, well put together and explained to us. The food was high quality and experimental, overall very impressive. The service was equally as impressive with every dish being explained In detail and in a very friendly manor, we even stayed late after our meal talking with the staff they were that nice. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, amazing!

Google
Taberna do mar is underrated for their price point with 10 courses for 35 euros. They have an a la cart menu as well. I left this place satiated and content with the whole experience. I dined alone and the server was knowledgeable and kind and the chefs were easy to talk to. Each course had a great story and was executed well. I do wish they rotated their menu items but for a one time visit while in lisbon it was great. The server also had great wine rec’s and honestly i’d go back

Google
Amazing! Absolutely amazing 35 euro tasting menu - 10 savory dishes + 4 sweet dishes It was truly a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely sweet. The food was really good. Some dishes better than others. My partner and I didn’t like one of the dishes (the only beef one) and when they realized that, they offered to give us an extra one but with fish. We happily accepted and enjoyed this one much more. It was good. The smoked nigiri sea bass was simply perfect. 🔥😩And the sardine sushi was so soft and tender and an amazing bit. 🤯I had a lovely night, tried amazing food, and all for a very reasonable price. The only down side- the chairs aren’t comfortable. Because this is a tasting menu it last about 2 hours. And sitting on wooden stools for 2 hours isn’t comfortable. But honestly still worth it. I found some dishes a bit disappointing in comparisons to others. I personally really enjoyed the sardines, they melted like butter. And the dried/jerkier tuna was also very good. Highly recommend.

Google
This restaurant is so so lovely. Good food, served at a reasonable price, by kind and attentive staff. We both got the tasting menu which was 10 savory courses and, for our dinner, 4 (!!!) sweet courses at the end. In the middle I was worried we would still be a little hungry, but by course 9 I could barely eat another bite - only through force of will and the creativity of each dish, did I finish the tasting. Truly a wonderful experience. They have sea-themed decor and music, and the food was so so unique, creative, AND delicious. 12 out of 10, honestly. Definitely make reservations before you go, and be aware that they only take cash or Portuguese credit card. However, they were very kind to their tourist clients and spoke fluent English (and I believe Spanish, too).

Google
Food: This place offers a €35 tasting menu and it is not one to miss! They offered 10 courses of meat and fish and almost every single one of them was amazing. They had some great bites of food and the Sardine nigiri which was the trademark of the chef was so good that I ordered another one. Service: The wait staff were extremely knowledgeable regarding the dishes. They were not only able to explain what the dishes were but also were able to recommend the order in which it should be eaten and you can definitely see how they all were passionate about their menu! Atmosphere: It's a small restaurant but it's a very lively one as the wait staff were nice and interactive which helps enhance the environment! At €35 Euros and with limited seats, A Taberna Do Mar is not one to miss!

Google
A Taberna do Mar" is a culinary gem that masterfully celebrates the flavors of the sea. The chef’s expertise shines through in every dish, with an emphasis on the freshness and quality of seafood. Highlights include the marinated sardines and perfectly grilled squid, both elevated by subtle, harmonious spices. The warm, inviting atmosphere is complemented by attentive service and a team passionate about Portuguese cuisine. While prices lean toward the higher end, the exceptional dining experience justifies every penny. A must-visit for seafood lovers and those seeking authentic coastal flavors.

Google
This was a delicious tasting experience. Unique combination of materials, with sardine at her very best. The dried version in olive oil was a bit too dry. But other than that nothing else to comment on. The pictures talk for themselves (I couldn’t wait for tasting the dessert!) Highly recommended. We had a reservation so no waiting times and queues. You need to have cash with you or pay with a Portuguese card.

Yelp
I came on a warm October Saturday evening. Definitely easier to come as a solo diner without reservations, although I had one. All the tables were full, but the bar was empty. You need to have euros or a Portuguese credit card for this place. It's a relatively affordable tasting menu of 14 items. It's Japanese-Portuguese fusion, which I think can be hit or miss. I love sardines, but if you don't, this may not be the place for you. At item 10, I was very full, but I powered through. Some items were amazing, some were so so. It's definitely seafood heavy, which I think is a plus. The service is friendly and efficient. They do a great job explaining the food. I would recommend for a try, but I probably wouldn't return.

Yelp
Excellent food and great service. Make sure you review the menu before you go. The other members of my party were not as pleased due to having limited options available.

Yelp
This restaurant was terrible. Paid 35 euros for 10 small bites of food. The sardine toast was the worst thing I've ever eaten, and they served us a sardine flan for dessert that almost made me kill myself. Why tf would u ever put sardines in flan. Me and my friends went senile from being in there for 2.5 hours, to the point where one of my friends banged his head into the wall so that he could forget about the whole dinner. Save yourself the trouble, go anywhere else

Yelp
It seems like this place is quite popular, because when we asked for a table, the inside was fully booked due to reservations, so we had to sit outside. It was super chilly outside, but it was nice that they gave us blankets. We decided on doing the tasting menu for 25 euros per person, which came with 10 small savory tastings, and 4 dessert tastings. This experience was fun even though I didn't love every single item. All the fish was great! My favorites were the sardine nigiri and the tuna. Even though there were so many courses, the portions were really small, and they came out over a long period of time. We weren't stuffed after the meal, but we also weren't starving either. We ended up getting more food at another place afterward (cuz we are little piggies!)

Yelp
Best 30 euro you will ever spend for a tasting menu of 10 courses ! Highly recommend and loved the dried tuna, portugese polenta, mackerel fish bone soup, sardine toast, desserts with secret ingredients!

Yelp
Oh. Oh my lord. I was slightly skeptical because the reviews here are almost all from 1-3 reviews reviewers, but I kept digging online and found an interview with the owners about the Japanese influences on the chef's food that made us think, we have to go. To be clear, this is a throughly Portuguese restaurant, but there are certainty Japanese influences. I'm also telling you the food here is amazing. We got the tasting menu and a bottle of wine and almost died of happiness. The tasting menu is an amazing value. We tried all but two dishes on the menu. If you don't come in early, you'll need a reservation. You should definitely come.

Yelp
This was one of the best restaurants I've been to this year and in Lisbon. The food was delicious, and it was a great value for the price.

Yelp
Taberna do Mar is all about the food, and the experience. Imagine a place where you have direct, personalized access to one of the city's.... country's most well-known chefs. Imagine a place where you can sample some of Portugal's freshest, most traditional dishes. All served with a modern twist, and an Asian touch. Imagine being able to interact with culinarians as they prepare your delights, in an intimate setting. Well you no longer have to imagine it- it exists in Lisbon and is called -Taberna do Mar!! The offerings vary from the most traditional reinvented Portuguese dishes, to those influenced by the Far East. All done with culinary expertise and respect to the history of the Portuguese discoveries. The chefs- Both Filipe and Hugo, are top notch and are accessible. They thrive on being able to interact with the guests, even if a guest doesn't speak Portuguese- so you don't have to be Portuguese to be totally immersed, informed, and gain insight. If you are in Lisbon and enjoy eating the freshest seafood- want to personally meet two very well-known passionate chefs, and gain insight and understanding into Portuguese culture- well you better stop into Taberna do Mar.

Yelp
Made a rez by email a few days ahead of time which is essential. Pro tip - go have a drink and watch the sunset before dinner from the "Miradouro do Graça" a stone's throw from the restaurant. Dinner here is fabulous. Get the absurdly inexpensive €25 tasting menu and you can order more of anything you love a la carte (which will be most everything). This dinner would be 4-5x the price in Chicago but you wouldn't have the delightful chef/owner waiting on you himself, now would you?

Yelp
Amazing Food, great education what you eat just fabulous. A very special local traditional food inspired and fused with Japanese cocking technique

Yelp
A great dinner experience. There is no more to add. Not our last time when we are in Lisbon.

Yelp
Agree with the other reviewers. I stumbled on this place and was drawn in by the crazy sign that said €25 10-course tasting menu. I thought it couldn't be true, or at least it would be awful. It was fantastic. If they raise the price and this review becomes out of date, know that I gladly would have paid multiples more than what they charged. So if you can go experience this at the insanely low price, do it. If the price increases, it's still worth it! The couple sitting next to me was doing a food tour through Europe, eating at multiple Michelin star restaurants, and they said they enjoyed this experience more than they enjoyed an experience they had paid $1400 for a couple of nights earlier. Part of what makes it fun is that it hasn't been discovered, yet (note that this is only their 6th Yelp review), and it clearly is a place that should be well known. Even the native Lisboans I was visiting, who were eager to give me top restaurant recommendations, had never heard of it. They only opened a year ago -- it's four executive chefs who have always worked in other people's restaurants, and they decided to do it themselves. The waiter, who also seems to be the lead chef (he described many of the dishes as being inspired by what his grandmother used to make) explained that they did all the work themselves to build out the space, and they bought all the kitchen equipment second-hand. So they are really trying to deliver a top-notch for a reasonable price. They also described how they use all the parts of the fish and other ingredients they use so nothing goes to waste. And they do so in a beautifully creative, delicious way! I sat at the bar alone on a business trip and enjoyed watching the chefs carefully create each dish like a work of art. Notes: Call ahead for reservations, and be sure to bring cash, because they don't except credit cards.
