A Taberna do Trasno

"This centrally located restaurant with its modern interior is an unexpected surprise, bringing back to life a delightful stone house over 200 years old. The owner-chef offers guests a varied à la carte on which traditional recipes stand alongside more modern dishes, a few seafood options, plus plenty of grilled specialities cooked over a wood fire. You’ll even find some fusion dishes described as “a journey around the world”. Our recommendations include grilled octopus on a bed of creamy Cachelos potatoes, and the superb grilled Burela hake with clams and an Albariño wine reduction." - Michelin Inspector

Pleasing arty/modernist vibe to the decor. But it’s the seafood you come for. Delicious butterfish ceviche and razor clams, and the tuna perfectly done too. The desserts were good as well, reasonably priced and with a good wine list. Would definitely recommend.

Overall a good experience. The food was quite good and the service nice and mostly attentive. They seem to be trying for a star. If they are, they need to step a few things up on the food. The razor clams and artichokes were excellent. The steaks were good but need to raise their level a notch for a star. While the service overall was good it lagged at times and not all dishes - for example desserts - arrived at the same time. While catering to locals may mean repeat clientele it will not get them a star.

We decided to try it on a quiet Monday night in May. We chose the taster menu, and it was sensational! Absolutely beautifully presented, tasted amazing, there was nothing we could fault. The staff were really friendly and we are already looking forward to trying it again when we visit Cambados later in the year.

We asked Carlos for a vegetarian degustacion menu. He did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the flavours and presentation excellent. The whole team made us very welcome and we had a lovely evening Highly recommended

We went for our anniversary, service was good a bit slow, but they were very busy. Had the croquetas caseras and they were very good. Had the solomillo with cheese sauce, was ok, would have preferred cheese crumbles. Small portion. Had the torrija with ice cream, very good a little skimpy on the ice cream. Large wine selection!

Our first night in Galacia back in May and it was a bit of a disappointment. We had some clams, razor and “normal, Zambarinas and some mussels. The shell fish seemed overcooked and very salty (I like salt! But..) the clams were almost like they were served in sea water. We thought it must be the Galician style but fortunately we subsequently found out during the rest of our Galician tour that this was not the case. It was a Wednesday night and there were only two other tables with diners, perhaps the shell wasn’t as fresh as it could have been We finished with steak which was excellent. One incredibly annoying thing for a restaurant pitched at this level Q Code menus 😡 No hard copy menus. What a rubbish idea ! Our experience seems to have been the unfortunate exception based on the other reviews

By coincidence we passed by Trasno and were lucky to get a table. The experience was far beyond what we expected for the day. Great taste, excellent service and atmosphere.

Booked this place after getting engaged nearby. Could not have chosen a better place to celebrate. Food and atmosphere was amazing. Would recommend!
