The owners and their family were super friendly working with us to get the food we wanted. The different lemonades are a nice highlight to the soul food served. Come for the home- tasting fried chicken and sides! They are passionate about serving the community good food!

From the amazing food to the stellar customer service, this has been one of The Best food experiences I've had! Everything on their menu is utterly delicious! Their customer service is top notch. Their prices are perfect, great menu variety, awesome location!! ambience and very clean!! Encore!!👏🏽

I stopped by to try this food cart and I’m happy that I did. The owner was extremely nice and easy to talk to. I ordered the taste of soul plate and a side of fried shrimp. My food was ready without a long wait and EVERYTHING was delicious, but the lobster mac and fried chicken were the highlight. The food was well seasoned but not too salty, like some soul food carts I’ve tried. I have nothing but good things to say!!! I’ll definitely be back.

Taste of soul is a must try you would not be disappointed. They have the best variety of soul food in Portland that I have had, like mama made it. The family owned business showed me great customer service and provided delicious food. I will be back for more. Thank you for your welcoming hospitality an a cozy environment to enjoy a meal

Everything about this place is amazing! The food is rich, delicious and filling. I got a lobster Mac and cheese that was out of this world - the flavors were nuanced with different spices and the texture was decadent. The owner and servers are super friendly as well, and everything about the experience was amazing. Thank you!!

This place hits! If you're looking for some real good home cooking "A Taste of Soul" is momma on a plate! The mac and cheese was fire, sweet potatoes took my taste buds to a whole new dimension and the chicken.... I couldn't believe how much flavor it had. This is the spot and I would recommend it to anybody who is looking for the real deal.

First time eating at A Taste of Soul this afternoon, ordered the lobster mac and by far BEST lunch I've had in a real long time! The hulk smash lemonade was super bomb too! Bottle it and sell it please lol I'll be back for sure thanks for a real taste of soul!

If You’re realllyyyyyyy looking for real soul food THIS IS THE PLACE !! They know exactly what they’re doing and do it with love. I had the soul plate, my daughter had the catfish po boy, and my son had the fried shrimp and fries and EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT 🤤 then they also have a cart across the way with these stupid good milkshakes omg I HIGHLY recommend

Immediately to the right when you enter the Killingsworth Station is Taste of Soul - now, you may be asking, isn't it kind of a grandiose name for a food cart? And to be quite honest, the answer is kinda. No offense. But, is the name justified? And the only answer to that question is a definite YES. Last, the main question you are probably asking yourself is, should I eat there? And the answer to that, Sarah, is yes. You should definitely eat at this food cart. Let me tell you why. Taste of Soul gives you just that, a traditional soul food experience. But, just from the one meal I ordered on a dreary, cloudy Portland day, I had more than a taste of soul. I had a whole flavor reset happen to my palate. My world grew sunnier and brighter with an infinite amount of temporary taste happiness. The sweet tender taste of the catfish coated in a dusting of cornmeal and spices fried to perfection danced on my tongue as the accompanying sauce gave a zesty kick to the already flavor packed fresh fish fillets. The chunky fries were pillowy and perfect, potatoes partitioned to particular flavor packed pieces and promises of pleasant tastes. Also, nicely seasoned - totally worth upgrading the regular catfish order. I did have to wait a bit, but the owners were so nice to give me a free lemonade for my wait and they were generally very kind. You could tell they loved being there and cooking up some delicious food for everyone. How often do you hear Portland and soul in a single sentence? Come try this place out!

First time here and it did not disappoint. I got the lobster Mac n cheese with fried lobster tail YUM

This place was so busy when we picked up our take out and we now know why. (Also very prompt with their take out). This food was insanely good. I would eat there every weekend if I lived in the area.

The chicken plate is gigantic and so delicious, easily two meals! The greens are cooked to perfection. The hubs had the Chicago dog and fries, he didn't leave a scrap behind. Will be back!

Awesome! Owners were super nice and 100% willing to substitute sides. Catfish, collard greens, shrimp and fried chicken were all fantastic and the platter was super affordable. Glad they are so close and I look forward to coming back soon!

My boyfriend ordered their fried chicken and fries to eat. They came out looking so perfectly battered and fried. I could just hear that crunch of crisp fried chicken with every bite UNTIL he finally let me have half. It was just as delicious as I imagined as I watched him eat those first few wings. So worth coming back for and getting a whole basket for myself.

The food is delicious and somehow the service is even better. If you want food that is just like Grandma used to make this is the place. The chicken wings and Mac and cheese is my go to combo. They will take care of you!!!
