A cute and small space that effectively captures Spanish cuisine, which might not be for everyone. Spanish food tends to be very simple, somewhat plain, but high quality and fresh and for the most part they get it right!
We stopped by for some lunch tapas and got the platter with Iberico ham, manchego, and olives. The ham was rich and salty and the olives were great, and there's a reason why the combo is so widely appreciated. The manchego was decent but I'm pretty sure it's the exact same manchego that I can get from Trader Joe's so it wasn't especially exciting. Speaking of Trader Joe's, the baguette with fresh tomato was simple but enjoyable and again I am fairly certain they used Trader Joe's baguettes as well. Not a bad thing, but just a case of "I think I could have had this at home".
I also got the octopus over potatoes which was really interesting and a new combination for me. I really wasn't expecting soft slices of potato to so effectively pair with the paprika and salt on the slices of octopus but it worked very well. It was straightforward but pleasant, like everything else. I do hate to bring this up again, but I am pretty dang sure that the octopus use is the tinned Matiz brand octopus that I can buy down the street... it all is good it just doesn't have the same effect maybe. We couldn't leave without getting a slice of Basque cheesecake which was excellent and a personal favorite dessert.
How much you enjoy this spot will probably depend on your attitude and expectations. If you are laid back, in no rush, and want to enjoy some simple tapas with friends while you enjoy a nice light bottle of wine (it's BYO!), this will be a great spot (and it will remind you of Spanish dining culture). If you are expecting fast service, complex or new main courses, you might be disappointed. But we had a pleasant experience.
