"Located close to Tavira’s old Moorish castle, this restaurant was created out of a heartfelt homage to the history of this town with its 37 churches. Over the years, however, it has also proved that the cuisine, ingredients and flavours on offer here are just as important as its history.The attentive married couple in charge, Cláudia Abrantes (sommelier and front-of-house) and her chef-husband Luís Brito, at the helm in the kitchen, are extremely committed to creating the perfect experience. The constant aim of the cuisine is to find a balance between vegetables and fish and seafood, presented on four enticing tasting menus: an “executive” menu only available at lunchtime, plus three others (Between Moments, The Journey of Flavour, and The Whole Trip) that include blue lobster, beef from the Trás-os Montes region etc. The restaurant also boasts two attractive terrace-esplanades overlooking the town – one on the same floor for menu-based dining, the other, upstairs, for appetisers." - Michelin Inspector

Our tasting menu dinner (one vegetarian, one not; seven courses each) at A Ver Tavira qualifies as the best dinner of our lives thus far. Didn’t hurt that it took place over 2.5 hours as the sun set over Tavira from our vantage point at our balcony table. Each course was a testimony to the chef’s (and their collaborators’) artistry. Sometimes with a Michelin restaurant you get beauty over deliciousness. But not so here. The food was nuanced and delectable, and the artistic concepts well considered and beautiful. We felt we were really watching an artist who was both exercising their craft and creativity with every course. Well done.

The very best food we have ever eaten. The merging of flavours in each dish was magnificent. The wines with starter and main course were excellently chosen. Each course was carefully explained to us; the way in which the menu item had been chosen and the food was prepared to represent past and present traditions of Portugal was wonderful.

Best Michelin experience I ever had. Delicious food and impeccable presentation. Amazing Wine pairing. Portuguese wines never fail to amaze me and the sommelier truly knows the essence and aging of the wines. Suggest having dinner on outside terrace for an amazing view over the historical roofs of Tavira.

Very good, well presented but overpriced in my view. Wine pairing was disappointing, sometimes it works very well and it complements the various dishes in a fabulous way, but here it seems not to be the case, they were more like a selection of good wines than true pairing.

A Ver Tavira is an absolute gem in the heart of Tavira! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The ambiance is charming, offering a perfect blend of elegance and comfort, with stunning views that add to the overall experience. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish we tried was unique, bursting with local flavors and beautifully presented. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the chef's creativity truly shone through in each course. My own favorite was the octopus dish - it was cooked to perfection, with a perfectly balanced combination of flavors and simply melted in my mouth. The wine selection was equally impressive and the staff was knowledgeable and helped us choose the perfect wine for our dishes. A special thank you to the staff, who went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made us feel like valued guests throughout our visit. A Ver Tavira is a must-visit for anyone looking for an amazing dining experience. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Tavira. Highly recommend!

A wonderful vegetarian tasting menu! We don’t often find good options at Michelin restaurants but this was one of the best. Great food, wine and amazing staff. Got a picture with chef Luis. Little hard to find but once you do behind the church, plenty of parking.

The experience in this restaurant was amazing. The name of the restaurant is literally what you get to have as a view: the city of Tavira. There are 3 tasting menus, we chose the Flavour Trip, and it did not disappoint at all. From the amuse-bouche to the dessert, every single dish was a party of flavours. We chose the wine pairing, which was absolutely a perfect compliment to every single dish. It is also worth noting that we had one person in our group that had dietary restrictions, and it was absolutely perfect the way that the chef adjusted the menu to align with the restrictions. It is definitely worth going to this restaurant, and take a chance to also check out the beautiful city of Tavira.
