Yelp
A Votre Sante: French phrase meaning "to your health."
(Caveat: despite the name, this is not a "French" restaurant. The food has influences from different countries ex: Mexican, Asian, Italian, American etc.)
Mission statement: A restaurant that "caters to your health while satisfying your palette....guilt free dining" (homepage restaurant website).
A Votre Sante has been around a long time, since 1987! It started out as a vegetarian restaurant but now serves both meat and vegan/vegetarian options. Though the menu has changed over the years, they have stuck to their original mission statement of serving healthy food.
The ambiance of the restaurant is upscale, casual. There are two rooms. One has more open windows and sun and spaced out seating. The other room is darker and has more of a winery ambiance. They have outdoor seating as well but no one was seated outside during dinner time.
They were pretty busy when I walked in, much more than the other restaurants nearby. People were friendly here. We had a nice convo with the people sitting next to us who also loved what they ordered (chicken kebab and the Sante Super Bowl).
Service was pretty good but a little slow to start. There was no host when we walked in and when we walked up to the counter, we were told to sit down and that we would be brought a menu. We waited a little while and I ended up having to get up to ask the waiter to bring me one. The waiter, however, was awesome and patient and enthusiastic about the menu items. He had a great attitude and was just a pleasure.
I ordered the vegetarian tostada. It comes with avocados, tomatoes, carrots, black bean chili, sprouts, and tahini dressing on a toasted whole wheat tortilla. You can add a protein but I'm glad I didn't as the portion is huge and very filling. It was a very delicious salad. The veggies tasted so fresh and ripe. The avocado melted in my mouth. I loved it! However, next time I would order it to share with my dining companion as it was very generous.
My dining companion got the miso marinated Alaskan cod. It looks like this item is only on the menu from Thursday to Sunday during dinner. It has yuzu braised cabbage, pad thai noodles, edamame, shitake mushrooms, and chives. This dish is a winner! The cod was buttery soft and the veggies were well cooked. The sauce was melt in your mouth delicious. As good as any fish from a seafood restaurant.
I brought back a beyond burger (vegetarian) for someone at home. The burger had a plant based burger patty, sauerkraut, lettuce, tomato, onions and vegan Dijonnaise sauce on a La Brea Bakery wheat bun. I added cheese to the burger for an extra cost. The burger came with a side of potatoes. The person who had the burger thought this was one of the "best veggie burgers" they've had. I was happy they were so pleased.
The to-go bag came out when we got the bill and I appreciated the timing. Next time I would ask for some ketchup to-go for the potatoes as there was none in the bag but it was okay because I had some at home.
When it came time for the bill, I noticed that you can get 10% off if you check in on Yelp and the waiter gladly honored it. They do add a service charge to tip the kitchen staff which was surprising but it does say that you can ask to get the charge removed if you'd like and since I saved on the Yelp check-in, it was not really a big deal.
Overall, I had a great time at A Votre Sante. They have a lunch and brunch menu as well. They also have quite a selection of wines and beer. They have dessert tool so I will try to save room next time.
Parking can be tough in this area but they do have a lot in the back. I was lucky and found metered parking on the street.
They do take reservations on Opentable. They won the Opentable's Diner's Choice Award in 2022.
They deliver with Postmates, Grubhub, Chowhound,, and Doordash.
