The Best Taiwanese Restaurants In Flushing

"If you’ve never experienced the joys of Taiwanese steak, then check out his food court stand. Served on cast iron inside a wooden plate, the steak comes with a generous amount of either black pepper sauce or mushroom sauce, though the black pepper option is the one to pick. Accompanied by a sunny-side-up egg and broccoli, the tender and juicy steak is probably the best we’ve ever have served cafeteria-style. Another must-order is the Tainan noodles with shrimp, a specialty of southern Taiwan that includes shell-on shrimp, shrimp stock, minced pork, and slick egg noodles." - diana kuan

We’ve been going to A Zhong Taiwanese Cuisine for a few years now. It’s not “OMG just like Taiwan,” but some of the dishes do taste pretty close — and some… honestly not at all. 😂 But overall, it hits enough of that Taiwanese craving that we still come back from time to time. Just a heads-up though: it’s definitely not cheap. The flavor is kind of a mix, but still good enough that we keep returning when we want something that feels sort of like home.

The oyster noodles were tasty and reminded me of home. The batter on the oysters was a little thick, but overall it was flavorful and smooth.

Google
Oyster thin noodles was delicious!! Tastes almost like the same one in Taiwan!! Yummy!!

I’m pretty happy with this Taiwanese counter at the food hall! We got the steak and fried squid. The steak is one of the most expensive items in this food hall (around $28) but was well worth it, with at least three pieces of steak. The steak came with yummy sweet jasmine tea and the fried squid came with a salad.

Not bad for a small stand inside a mall. The pork chop over rice is good, except it does NOT have the meat sauce over the white rice! The pork bamboo shoot noodle soup has the savory onion flavor. The stinky tofu could be more stinker, but Dont want their neighbor to be mad at them. The wait time for the food wasn't so bad either. It is a food court inside a mall at Flushing, so dont expect a quite peaceful meal. The food court is located at C level, and eating at the food court doesn't validated the parking. A good place for cheap meal during weekdays.

My sister and I have been to this place and ordered oyster pancake, beef noodle soup, stinky tofu, and others. The food and service were fantastic and yummy. The atmosphere was that there were lots of people because it is part of a mall food court on the bottom level.

The fried stinky tofu we got today was not deeply fried and too bland. The lady at the counter said that’s how they make it and she could only give me some soy source to make it more flavorful. The food quality is getting worse now. I won’t come back again.

Google
Very tasty pan fried soup buns. The #1 combo has a Curry beef rice noodle soup and also very tasty. You can order 6 or 8 buns combo. Unfortunately the menu is written in Chinese with no English translation, but the person taking orders does speak English. I highly recommend getting the pan fried buns.

Yelp
Wanted to try this minced meat/cuttlefish/shrimp thin noodle dish since not a lot of places serve it. The meats are delicious, varying in more fatty textures, and as a big cilantro fan, the garnishing is perfect. However, the thin noodles themselves lean on the more mushy side, so this feels like a pure soup versus a noodle dish with bite and chew. I expected the broth to be flavorful based on its color, but it lacks depth. Perhaps an additional sauce like vinegar or even spice could ramp it up. Knowing the other noodle/soup options in this food court, I'm not rushing to recommend this order but see the simple comfort in it.

Yelp
This is located in the New World food court in Flushing. My family and I really enjoy the food from this little stall. We've mostly tried the stinky tofu and salt and pepper squid, and both are top notch and reminds me of the Taiwanese places I used to eat at before they closed down since the pandemic. The salt and pepper squid is the best I've had, and I've tried many at various restaurants. It's not oily, it's crispy, and they give you all tentacles. The breading is very, very light. It's also very flavorful and they give you a cup of orange sauce to dip it in (though I found I didn't need to). The stinky tofu was also crispy and light with plenty of tofu inside. It comes with the pao cai (fermented vegetables) and sauce to dip it in. I haven't tried their other dishes yet, but I plan to make my way through the menu during our many visits. Service is also quite efficient, typical of the other food stall servicepeople.

Yelp
I am a local Taiwanese...here's my review 1) Service is poor - Too much attitude (I asked for 2 cups so that my children can experience the foods...it was frowned upon) 2) Food is sub-par - I ordered 2 different types of Taiwanese noodles...one with intestines and other with oysters....what did I get ? I got a noodle soup with BOTH ingredients. One with no ingredients... 3) Can you really continue to hold this title/name - I doubt it, IT IS NOT original AT ALL

Yelp
This is an unassuming food vendor within the New World Mall Food Court in Flushing. The food offerings are identical to other food court Taiwanese Restaurants: steak (on hot plate), fried squid, fried chicken, etc. I ordered the steak with black pepper sauce . It is grilled over a flame and then served on a hot metal plate with noodles and covered with a black pepper sauce/gravy. The steak is still sizzling when you get it. All this for $23?! The salt and pepper fried squid is also not to be missed.

Yelp
Authentic Taiwanese food! My mom and I were thrilled to discover this gem. We got stinky tofu (we came here because we really craved stinky tofu, and not all "Taiwanese" places in the states offer them), popcorn chicken, fish soup, and Taiwanese chicken steak. Portions were large and very filling and tasty.

Yelp
Little Taiwanese shop in the New World Food Court downstairs. They have a lot of selections, the best of which happens to be the crispy fried squid with salt and pepper. The stinky tofu wasn't quite stinky enough, and the preserved veggies with it weren't sour or salty enough. Pork chop was not thin and crispy but instead really big and cut differently, it's ok but the flavor doesn't do well given how thick it is. The egg was good, and the pickled veggies included were ok. It doesn't replace the old Taiwan cafe but scratches a bit of the itch for Taiwanese food. Doesn't have shaved ice though.

Yelp
Just like Taiwan!! I love getting the Taiwanese Chicken chop with noodles and black pepper sauce on a sizzling plate! Comes with cold tea and a mini salad.

Yelp
Got the Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Flavour was great, lots of good noodles, and a decent amount of beef for the price. I ended up having to pack some to bring home because it was more than I anticipated Restaurant is located in the mall food court. I had wanted this soup so I looked for this stall. The person I ordered from was kind, and we figured it out despite me not speaking any Chinese. The food court is a little dingy and drafty, but the food makes it worth it!

Yelp
Accidentally found the Taiwanese food at J mart food court and it was a nice surprise. Maybe my expectation was low but I was quite impressed with the oyster noodle soup. You can taste the soup was nicely cooked and the pork intestine was cooked softly and full of flavor. The oyster is fresh. Was the best oyster noodle I tried in NY so far. The portion of the popcorn chicken is quite big and crispy. But the chicken was cut into too small Pisces and see the room to improve the flavor. Could be better marinated. A nice place when fancy Taiwanese food.

Yelp
Thanks A Zhong for the nastiest pork chop hair rice. Please stop cleaning while cooking a food order.

Yelp
A group of us stopped by two days ago after watching a food documentary about Taiwanese cuisine. We were so excited to see so many food items mentioned in the documentary available on the menu at this vendor. We ordered a total about $60 and when I handed my credit card to the lady at the cashier, she told me, "no card." I pointed at the "We Accept VISA, AMERICAN EXPRESS & MASTER CARD" sticker on the cash register and asked why do they say they accept cards when they don't? The Asian lady then rudely said, "cash only for lunch. If no cash, no food." Absolutely dishonest and disgusting behavior. Who carries cash around in 2022?! We ended up leaving and didn't get to try anything. Rude, dishonest and sketchy vendors. I hope the IRS investigate them because I am sure they do not file their taxes honestly.

Yelp
It was ok. I had same food in better place. The intestines noodles was kinda tasteless. Stinky tofu was ok not that good.

James M.

Yelp
Tried yesterday. Overpriced, small portions, and mediocre flavor. I'm from Taiwan and this isn't even close. So disappointing.

Kyeong H.

Yelp
I ordered Stinky tofu and intestine thick noodle soup. I had this long time ago and in different places but this place was disappointed. The stinky tofu was stinky but the tofu itself was not taste filling. Intestine thick noodle soup also so tasteless. The intestine was little stinky. Definably recommend try at other place or different food.
