If you're looking to have a grimy and cramped hostel experience, that is close to a busy tourist area, this is probably a good hostel for you. My friend and I wanted a more relaxing experience, like the other hostels we stayed in during our trip around Japan. Out of the six Japanese hostels we stayed in during our trip around Japan, this was our least favorite. Especially, given it was the same price as the more spacious and clean hostels we stayed in previously. We booked for four nights, but only stayed for one, which they refused to refund. If we had known how cramped the hostel was, we would have never booked it. The pictures posted online are taken specifically to avoid showing you how cramped the entire facility is. In the halls, there isn't enough room for everyone to hang their clothes/towels and to keep their luggage close. They provide a designated luggage area, which, if a few people don't use, makes the halls so cramped that it becomes difficult to leave your bed without stepping on someone's stuff. The elevator didn't fit us (two people) and our luggage. It also doesn't go up to the 6th floor, where the showers are located. You have to go to the 5th floor, then climb the stairs to the 6th floor showers. The common area didn't feel comfortable to lounge in since all they had was a bar and a table. It did seem easy for people to socialize and meet others since the common area was also cramped. I think it would have made more sense if one of the five dorm floors had been made into a common area where people could relax on comfortable furniture, like other hostels. The top bunks we spent our single night in didn't have any guardrails to stop our belongings from falling. My friend, who is on the tall side, found the bed extremely uncomfortable and difficult to relax in because of the bed's small size, which also lacked a basic nightstand that seemed standard in other Japanese hostels. We both found the ladder difficult to climb. My friend actually slipped on the ladder. Most hostels put anti-slip tape and have the ladders out at about 45 degrees so that it's easier to get up and down the ladder, avoiding falling. These ladders had neither of those features. I can only imagine how difficult it is to climb the ladder after a long day of walking around the city. The train runs by the hostel, so if you need silence to sleep I would think deeply about that. Disgustingly, the curtains shielding my bed also had a chunky stain on them. I'm also under the impression they don't do regular maintenance or keep up with the facility, considering the AC in our hall leaked way more than I've ever seen an AC leak before. The laundry services were expensive compared to what we paid at other hostels, and appeared to be open for non-hostel guests during regular work hours. I hope they update their picture to better reflect the space.

The location of the Hostel was perfect for us. Not in the middle of the busy center, close to a river and park, but with great access to places to visit. It was very clean and tidy, including showers and bathroom. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The only things to criticize are, that the ventilation system was not working sufficient, so the room was sweat-smelly, and there was no possibility to lock things bigger than over ear headphones. All in all I would recommend the place for a visit in Tokyo. We (two women) stayed four nights and felt safe.

The only good thing about A16 Hostel is its convenient location. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was far below Japanese hostel standards. The dorm smelled like sewage, and clothes were scattered everywhere. I even found used underwear on the floor as soon as I stepped out of the elevator. The shelf above my bed was dusty and still had belongings from previous guests, making me doubt it was ever cleaned. I stayed in a dorm on level 2, but the only female showers were on level 6 with the lift only going up to level 5, I had to climb another floor. There are only three female bathrooms and the sink area is shared with all genders. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, there are much better options in Tokyo.

I had a great stay at this hostel and was very impressed by how clean everything was. I lucked out by having bag storage under my bunk otherwise it was a bit tight to get at your things. I stayed in the girls only dorm and loved the scan in system I felt extremely safe during my time here. The common space has lots of seating where I was able to meet some new people and the location is close to the train.

A wonderful place for solo & budget traveller! It's very clean and comfortable. The hospitality of staff there surprising me. All the staff can speak fluent English and even Bahasa Indonesia, they're just sooo nice! WOW! Plus, as all tourists know, sometimes we spend a lot on storing luggages in the train station, but the hostel offering free luggage storage for guests who's flight is at night after they checked out the hostel. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! will sure come back again next time when I come to Tokyo.❤️❤️❤️Extra info. 500yen for one time washing (detergent included), 100yen Drying clothes for 10mins

Miu was really rude, came at me and my girlfriend for being loud when we were doing nothing. All the other staff were lovely but she was rude for no reason based on other biases on other customers. Shame to ruin such a good stay by a rude staff member

Nice hostel. Budget place in Tokyo. Even though budget place but there’s not weird smell in the restrooms. You also can get water / hot water at the front desk. You might inquiry person at the front desk recommended places. They recommended 600 yen breakfast and totally worth it (Large portion with unlimited refill drinks) Expected small place but u still have a small “common area” to pack your luggage. Strategic location, nearby is Tokyo Metro Station A16 and JR station also located nearby. Definitely will come again. But you might get awake by train sound, just prepare earplug will do. Very near to Akihabara (u can even walk there, around 1-1.5km)

Nice hostel close to metro station. 10-15 minutes to Akihabara district. Stuff was really nice and helped with all the questions. Towels, adapters, etc are provided at the reception that is a great advantage. Many stores around. The disadvantage for someone is the trains outside goes quite often and are bit loud, but free earplugs were provided and at it night it doesnt bother you.
