How (And Why) Wise Sons Opened an SF Bagel Outpost In Tokyo Today | Eater SF

"Serving as the local flagship for Giraud Operating Systems, A16 Tokyo was the site of our first meeting and provided an easy introduction to the team there — I remember walking in and thinking, “wow — this is pretty good!” and using that as a springboard to conversations with Shelley Lindgren and others." - Caleb Pershan

Went for pre-dinner. It was busy but we didn't need a reservation. We waited for about 15 minutes. We ordered a special edition margarita and something with cherry tomatoes and pork. The margarita was good, I didn't notice the difference from the regular. The pork version was very, very salty, though the parts without pork were good. Paid with a card. Won't return.

Went for lunch and had the outdoor seats. View was nice and they had some heaters on so you won't feel cold even in winter. Pasta lunch set for 2,000 yen; Pizza set for 2,500 yen. You get salad, dessert, and a drink for the set. Food is good (but not great). For me, the main highlight of this place is that you get to do alfresco dining.

Food was delicious! I got the pasta meal set, which included salad, dessert, and a drink. Size and quality made it well worth the price. The view from the terrace seat was nice and the heaters kept it from getting too cold, although I definitely kept my winter coat on. A lot of the staff were very friendly and attentive, but a few of them could've been a little nicer. None of them were rude or anything, and it was incredibly busy that day, but my main server pretty much just dropped things off at my table as she passed by without saying much, or anything at all. Had a very difficult time flagging her down, but again, it was VERY busy and I was seated in a less convenient location for her to see, so take that with a grain of salt. All in all, worth a visit!

This place is kind of crowded always! The pizza here is expensive compared to other best pizza restaurants in Tokyo. So far from my pizza experience in Tokyo, this restaurant will be ranked 9th out of 10. It’s a nice and lively place if you are around Yurakucho/Ginza for a lunch and spend time talking with your partner. I don’t recommend this pizza as the best pizza for the price but it’s OK :)

The size of the green leaves are just imperfect to put into your mouth without trouble. I saw other guests struggling with the same problem... I left no time to eat the greens when the meatballs were served immediately, so I had to send them back and ask for later delivery. When the plate came back, the food was not warm anymore... :(( I ordered beverage without ice but was delivered with ice... :(( From the beginning I asked for window seat but I was refused. I sat at next table near the window but NOBODY was sit the window for the whole time, so when I was about to leave, I asked why I was not served with the window seat... I have got no understandable answer... It was definitely my first and last visit there...

Just a regular cafe with nice vibe but my order was just ok, I like my pizza crust but the toppings is just so little . The squid potato is too mushy for me

Dropped in for a break, not lunch or dinner, and really enjoyed this gelato. Three types blueberry, mango and vanilla, so tasty with a cup of coffee. Good friendly service, thank you very much! I hope to be back to try the pizza and a glass or two of wine next time.

Excellent ambience, food above average. In a Hidden little Romaric court yard . Excellent service. Pizza cooked directly in stone oven. Also drinks r v reasonable. Must try their homemade icecream

Yelp
There were several names ahead of us on a list. The staff member called so many names, whose owners never responded. When our name was called, it didn't sound like our name at all. Luckily, we were standing right next to her as she crossed off names. Lunch menu set prices was very reasonable. It would cost much more to eat at A16 in San Francisco. The overly generous pizza portion came unsliced. We were given a scissor to cut it. We enjoyed every dish. Wish they had Diet Coke, though.

Yelp
A16 We were invited to dinner by a local family to A16. The restaurant is located in a courtyard surrounded by office buildings. It is in the heart of the Marunouchi business district. We had two weeks of Japanese restaurants, so it was nice to have a change. The menu of A16 has a lot of nice starters and of course a large variety of pizzas. We enjoyed the Arugula salad, Charcuterie Board and Carpaccio as starters. They were all very good (especially the Carpaccio). For the main course, we ordered two pizzas. Both pizzas were perfectly cooked. Overall, it was a very nice Italian dinner.

Yelp
Don't expect to be seated here if you aren't Japanese or with someone Japanese. Sat here waiting with our names down while they carefully seated everyone before us. Funny thing is, they call this place "Californian" and yet we are both from Los Angeles, not some bullshit mall restaurant at the bottom of an office tower that is pretending to be. Couples, families, name it they got seated with a smile while we were told to wait outside. When some uppity Japanese lady with bratty kids and shopping bags walked up to the hostess and they all bowed like servants while they rushed to get her a table immediately, I almost lost my shit but chose to simply walk away. In essence they refuse to seat the "Gaijin" until every Japanese customer has been seated, or you lose your desire to eat there, walk across the 50ft path and eat at Le Cafe Joel Robuchon. I've never been treated like this in Japan. From the Peninsula Hotel to Ippudo Ramen and in between, all the people in Tokyo have been lovely. Just not at A16. Californian my ass. Go fuck yourselves.

Yelp
If you are craving an alternative to Japanese cuisine, A16 hits the spot. We enjoyed a simple salad, pasta, and pizza - all superb.
