Moldy bread and spoiled cream bought less than 2 days ago. Bought some bread from this place Saturday afternoon and stored them in a shaded, air conditioned room. Now Monday morning I was eating one of them at work, it tasted very sour but I assumed the new owner changed their recipes. As I looked down from my computer screen I see green mold inside and on top of the bread, the cream appeared to be spoiled as well. Already ate half of it hope I don’t develop food poisoning later. There was no way to tell how long the bread had been sitting on their shelf. The red bean cake we bought was also hard as a rock and flavorless, went straight to trash. Never going back again, this is unacceptable.

Google
Tried a variety of pastries here and they were all amazing! Put them in the fridge or freezer until you're ready to eat them to prolong the freshness, these types of lovely pastries aren't meant to be out for too long, eat em or freeze em!

Google
Love how it’s still a dollar in these time, honestly the vanilla has the best taste don’t get me wrong the other one are alright but not the best tasting ones, the coconut is a real letdown I was expecting to be the best out of all of them but didn’t satisfy.

Google
This place used to be great when it first opened, but then they hired a bunch of non Chinese help and the quality really declined. Last few times I bought bao from here they were EXTREMELY dry. The bun was dry and the pork was dry.

Google
For such a late night visit they still had so much available! The prices are pretty fair considering the quality of each item (~$1-$3 per item). Everything was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be frequenting so I can try more of their options!

Google
I can't lie they are a little pricey.. well just more than I expected but everything I tried (like 6 treats breads) was really GOOD. THE quality is great.

This bakery is under new owner management now. Everything is fresh and modern. We love the traditional wheel pancake and a bunch of their new products like the macha cake, pork sung roll, red bean bun and a cup of fresh espresso coffee. oh, the egg tarts used the real whole egg white and the warm fragrance of the finger biscuits last for days.

Google
I always get a few red bean buns when I come here. They are always soft and fresh with plenty of filling. My wife likes the castella texture rolls they have there with cream. We never had a bad experience here with their quality of food. I'm glad we live in North Glendale so we can't visit often or I would weigh more than my current weight.

Yelp
Haven't been there in awhile but very friendly people and great selection of pastries and bread

Yelp
This Hodo cakes business is located inside the Sweet Time Bakery in Mekong plaza. The cakes were ok... the filling barely gives it the flavor you hope ( custard, taro etc) and you pay extra for a double filling. These cakes are best eaten fresh... sitting in a warmer just doesn't do it well. Reasonably priced.

Yelp
This bakery was closed for some time. During my visit to Mekong Plaza, I noticed the door was open and with a different name. This place has changed their name from AAozzy Bakery to Sweet Time Bakery. It still carries sweets that bear the old name of the bakery. Each sweet is individually wrapped which keeps everything sanitary. The place is clean, their sweets are very good and reasonably priced. Shared parking and WiFi.

Yelp
I saw these on the way on the way out of Mekong Plaza at a little stand. I only tried one because I didn't know what they would taste like but I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the vanilla custard one and it was yummy. I didn't try it until I was in my car. I left wishing I had gotten more than one. The girl who rang me up was nice. The guy making the food avoided eye contact.

Yelp
I came here for some of these yummy cake like desserts filled with flavor. I believe we ended up getting taro, vanilla, honey, and baked cream. These were made hot and fresh right in front of our eyes. I loved them and am currently craving another one. My favorites were the vanilla and baked cream. Yum. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Not good at all . I bought 2 pastry almond and the coconut . No filings and bread is awful. $2.59 totally one bite trash . Nothing close to Paris , 85% degree and other bakery . By far the worse I eaten a pastry.

Yelp
If you happen to be by Dobson and Main on a Saturday or Sunday, stop by Mekong plaza! In the southern entrance, you'll find a setup for AAOzzy Bakery where they sell their little Hodo cakes. Or as we call them, Hodor cakes! Our favorites are chocolate hazelnut and vanilla! Tip - Buy 10 and get one free! Eat the free one then and there. Take the rest home and freeze them! Then you can have Hodor cakes whenever you want! Reheat one, or all 10, in your toaster oven!

Yelp
The pastries are D'LISH!! The young lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. She gave us several samples. We ended up getting a CHOCOLATE BREAD and CUSTARD BREAD!! I can't wait to go back and bring visitors to try everything!!

Yelp
I was meeting a friend at the Mekong supermarket for shopping and lunch so decided to stop here to grab some pastries. I love pastries so this place had variety of baked good. I opted for the coconut bun and sweet cream bun. The coconut bun tasted old. The sweet cream bun was decadent. Overall it was ok but the price didn't match the quality I was expecting. Try other place is my recommendation.

Yelp
Love this place but I've noticed the quality going a little down hill. They normally have really amazing baked goods. Today I went and I got two honey BBQ buns. Well I hate sausage and I bite straight into sausage and found even more remind you in a BBQ pork bun...also I feel like they've changed their recipe. Any ways kind of disappointed. Also it's started to become all bread and no filling

Yelp
This is a Taiwanese bakery and they have all kinds of buns, cakes, cookies, loaves, and pastries here. I bought a ton of items so I'm going to try to break it down. Also, they sample most of their buns which was nice! Buns and pastries are about $2, while loaves are $6. 5/5 Amazing! -The Coconut Bun with Baked Cream! To die for! -The Red Bean filled bun was delicious too! 4/5 Good! -All of the pastries have excellent fillings with very rich flavors but the outside is a little tough. I dipped them in green tea and they tasted better that way. I tried the Red Bean, Green Tea, and Taro filled ones. -The Taro filled Bun -Green Tea Bun with Honey was a big bun filled with a green tea filling and it was very good, I loved how strong the green tea flavor was. 3/5 Okay. -The Green Tea Cake, we had a slice and found it dry. -The Red Bean Loaf, this had hardly any red bean paste inside, it was mainly just bread, good and tasty soft bread like a cinnamon roll type but really no red bean. And it's $6.

Yelp
My friend dragged me here because she couldn't get enough of the Chinese pocket donuts filled with stuff. I honestly have no idea what they are calling it in Chinese. I don't think they do either, there is no name for it, just a sign on the case that says "# for $X". The young man making our pastries was great. Super polite, he didn't talk much, but very nice, very helpful and seemed like he wanted to do make us happy. Fatty Tip: Get the one filled with the sweet cream.

Yelp
The worker is so rude and the food is disgusting. It tastes so bad and really weird not worth the money
google avatar

Yelp
This bakery is conveniently located inside the Mekong shopping plaza. The bread always tastes freshly made. Employees always offer samples of whatever bread it is they are baking at the time. Give it a try if you don't know what to get. Prices are reasonable and definitely worth it. The bread is moist and not at all dry. Employees are always friendly and the place is always clean. I will definitely keep coming back! Oh yeah and it smells delicious in there!!
google avatar

Yelp
Simply yum. Not quite sure what I purchased but they looked good, smelled good and still warm right out of the oven. Btw they also tasted good. Light pastries filled with goodies like cheese, honey, yougart. Not too sweet and very light....I liked it!!

Yelp
Brings me back to childhood - those little pancake sandwiches filled with custard. Delicious but not quite the same from those I originally had growing up. It's about $0.80 after tax for one.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a sucker for baked goods. I am also a sucker for Asian baked goods. You know that iconic scene in Ratatouille where Anton Ego takes a bite of ratatouille and is immediately transported to his childhood? Yeah, that's me and Asian baked goods. So what's the big deal, you ask. Bolo buns - buns with or without fillings with a cracked sugar crust on the top. Taro fillings. Char siew buns. Chinese pancakes, aka old school taiyakis without the fancy fish design (if that entire sentence sounded like gibberish, I demand that you march down there and get yourself a Chinese pancake or look up taiyakis on Instagram - you've been missing out). Also, mooncakes. I've never been big on mooncakes but Mid-Autumn Festival is this coming Monday and you know what, I've been pretty dang festive this Fall (don't judge me, I like me my PSLs) and I don't discriminate. I just had a mini red bean and yolk mooncake and I am a happy camper. All that said, if you've got a sweet tooth and want to try something different, definitely check them out!

Yelp
2.5 stars; it was ok but will not be back // I've always seen this bakery while shopping in the Mekong Plaza but I've never stopped in until today. Workers are very friendly and the pastries are made fresh but I personally feel like it is very pricy for what it is. $6 for a loaf of "Taro bread" but I'm not sure what's so Taro about it. Disappointed. The bread is still edible, it doesn't taste bad or anything but the flavor isn't there and it's not very moist or fluffy. I haven't tried the other breads that were purchased (Coconut loaf, Taro pastry, coffee pastry, and coffee biscuits) but I don't have very high expectations for them either.
google avatar

Yelp
Shared a crepe ($4.50) and had 2 filled pancake pastries ($.75 each). The crepe tasted a little rubbery, but I did like that it was a chocolate flavored crepe. It was filled with a decent amount of whipped cream, cake, and banana. The pancakes didn't taste very fresh. I had a taro and green tea, the filling tasted good but the outer pancake was also a bit rubbery and chewy. Service was friendly and we did get a free sample of crepe. Maybe their flaky pastries are better!
google avatar

Yelp
Really small bakery with the standard asian baked goods like barbeque charsiew buns, coconut buns and steamed baos. My go to is the yogurt bun cos it's super creamy and light! They're pretty pricey at @2.25/piece, but they're pretty much the only decent Asian bakery around the Mesa area! :) Plus they have free fresh samples of whatever's baking at the time. Give it a shot!
google avatar

Veronica K.

Yelp
I think this bakery lacks a lot like ambience, ample seating, etc. but I truly enjoyed the fresh pancakes with filling! I got them to-go. They smelled delicious from a far. I found myself gravitating towards the smell but was a little skeptical because of the environment. I'm glad I got some though! They had a deal going on 7 for $5 but I found that too much just for myself. I got a couple of the custard-filled and the red bean-filled pancakes. Both types were delicious. I will be back for more!
google avatar

Yelp
I just had first and worst experience in the same night!! After waiting over 30 minutes for a wrong order and 10 orders after my number were completed, I left with a sour taste in my mouth and it had nothing to do with the hodos.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
I have been coming to this bakery for years and they never disappoint! This weekend was extra special as I had a last minute request for 2 dozen bbq pork buns Without question they made 2 dozen fresh for me to bring to my brothers birthday and they were absolutely delicious! Thank you for making the day extra special!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I finally had the opportunity to stop in here together during one of our regular visits to Mekong Plaza. Both the quality and variety of their products are good, their selections are traditional and fairly authentic, and the prices are reasonable. My girlfriend, who is a native of mainland China, and were satisfied with everything we've tried thus far. Other reviewers have mentioned that the taste of their products is somewhat bland. However, my impression of Asian baked goods in general is that the flavors and sweetness are milder when compared to European style pastries and so I have come to expect this and actually prefer it. I'm looking forward to another opportunity to stop in sometime soon to try a few more of their items and will post and update accordingly.

Yelp
Go there in 12/26/2020, the day after Christmas, brought 6 bag of bakery all at full price. When eat them, it is like rubber, dry, not fresh at all. Apparently they put bakery they made several days ago there for sale without replacing them, particular after 12/25 holiday they closed. Sick of it, will never go again. Cross the street Paris Baguette always fresh. Keep doing it this way, they will loss their business forever

Yelp
Great Asian Bakery. Excelente CS from the young lady at the counter. She gave me a free sample of one of the cookies.
google avatar

Yelp
Please bring back the old recipe for 5ge coconut loaf bread. It was my favorite, and so much better than the new version. The old version had raisins and much more coconut filling. The new version is a bit bkand and dry.

Yelp
The staff at AA OZZY bakery inside Mekong normally tempts me with tasty treats while I wait for Rice House take-out. The staff is quiet but kind, and usually sucker me into trying whatever sweet-smelling concoction that has just exited the oven. I always enjoy when they are making Chinese pancakes, and love them all: honey, coconut, custard and red bean. The pineapple tarts are great, as are the fresh macaroons. The breads are hit or miss. I normally go for a yogurt bread or cranberry bread. There is a sweet crumbly topping and creamy insides that I enjoy. Sometimes, they can be dry depending in the time of day. Give it a try. And when you're nice and addicted, get the reward card!

Yelp
I was in line behind two Asians on this trip to the bakery. The woman behind the counter was kind and smiling. I stepped up and she was rude. Wouldn't answer and refused to look me in the FACE. She started working on sealing bags. I have been here twice before and gotten treated this way before. I won't be back and neither should any of you. It is sad really their baked goods are nice.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a small bakery, but it had some decent selections. I got 3 buns! The coconut bun was awesome. The cream was perfect, and the bread was great. The bbq and cream cheese buns could have been better. They weren't bad, but I wouldn't get them again. They both could have been more flavorful. The prices were decent, but I probably would try some other bakeries before coming back here again. Convenient location though, if you're doing your shopping at the asian market

Yelp
First time in the Phoenix area so we were exploring for some Chinese grocery stores...of course we opened yelp and it took us to MeKong Plaza on S. Dobson. I guess it can be classified as a Asian strip mall, with Asian restaurants-gift shops-beauty salon-jewelry-bakeries all anchored by the well stocked Me Kong market. If you need anything to cook an Asian dish, they'll have it. So we noticed that in the entryway they had a couple tables that were cooking some great smelling pastries, and people were lined up to get theirs. We didn't have time to wait so we wandered into the Aaozzy Bakery...it turns out that the 2 tables in the entry were their people. I bought a couple Cha sui bao(bbq sweet pork baked buns), a baked taro pastry with sweet yellow bean filling, and a pineapple filled flaky pastry...all were surprisingly tasty with lots of fillings! Of course the cities with a greater proportion of Asians (San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York) have better and wider selections of vendors to choose from but at least Phoenixians won't have to travel out of their area to get decent and authentic Asian food I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Love this Chinese bakery store. Fresh baked, soooo..good. Fall in love with the Milano cream bun, all kinds of Milano are delicious!!!
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
More like 3.5 stars here, but I would have to try it a few more times to say for sure. There are quite a few bread options here, which all sound and look pretty good. I tried the taro bun and honey bbq bun, which were less than $5 combined. They were quite large - a good portion for the price. However, the bread was a bit dry and while both fillings were quite tasty, there wasn't enough filling for the bread. Overall, I thought it was a decent bakery and it was conveniently located in the Mekong grocery strip mall. They take American Express, which is a plus for business travelers, but I've definitely had better Asian buns.

Yelp
Quality hidden gem bakery in heart of Mekong plaza. You can taste the French influence on the eastern style of baking. When you walk in you are greeted with smiles and irresistible samples...and it smells divine. Both unique and classic flavors and craftsmanship matching the inviting aroma. Definite must stop place. On my way in my mind always.

Yelp
At first i was so excited because they open late so i can pick it up after work . The cake is so dry and look at the cake that I ordered for my dad look like a 3 years old hand writing ...

Yelp
Your BBQ buns are good. So good. I have eaten so many and I hope to eat many more. The only issue is that they are so often sold out! Have I mentioned that the BBQ buns are good? Because they are.

Yelp
This place is a carb lovers dream come true. This bakery is not only quaint but also absolutely authentic. As soon as you walk in you can see the divide between the operations side of the house and the finished product. The right side of the narrow bakery is lined with wicker baskets boasting the fresh baked goods of the day. These are conveniently packaged individually and labeled with flavors and pricing. The left side of the bakery is where all the magic happens. All the while the staff is attentive to questions and offering samples. I genuinely recommend taking home a coconut loaf and the absolute must have in my book is the yogurt bread. Absolutely amazing!

Angie Q.

Yelp
Save your money! Everything is over priced, tastes old and stale. They over charged me and didn't include a receipt, that explains why!!
google avatar

Melanie M.

Yelp
WIFE PASTRY - flaky on the outside but hard and crumbly inside. Complained to lady behind the counter to say that pastry is old. All she said was "No. New. No old here." Well I beg to differ because this kind of pastry should be soft and gooey on the inside. My mom was so pissed that she crushed the pastry she was complaining about in her hand. The lady just walked away with her nose up in the air. VANILLA COOKIES - the oval kind about 3-4 inches long. Tasted ok. Not too sweet but alas lacks "creaminess" I've come to expect in these kind of cookies. I can't say I recommend them because for the price they charge, I would expect better taste and quality not to mention better customer service.
google avatar

Alan J V.

Yelp
I've had most of the baked goods here over the past 2 years. The quality is good but it's about half and half when it comes to flavor. In the winter they make a BBQ pork pie. It's pretty tasty. The mini pies are great. Love the Pineapple. Most of the other items are rather bland, consisting of mostly dough with a lite topping of some kind. You'd think with all of the Asian flavors available that they would make some outstanding items, but alas no. Their dried pork bun is a prime example. A big tasteless bun with finely ground pried pork on the top. Take one bit and the pork breaks up and falls off and you are left with a mess and tasteless bun. The pork has little flavor in itself. I see great potential, if they can only use their imagination when it comes to flavor.

Yelp
This hands down my favorite bakery ever. Wonderful little treasure in the Phoenix area that totally deserves to be touted as one of the special places in the valley. Don't go there expecting a lot of traditional American fare. This isn't the place for birthday cakes for instance. Do go there for very well made savory & sweet treats. I absolutely love the honey bbq buns for a lunch or snack. I have also really enjoyed most of the sweet stuff particularly the stuff with pineapple, cream cheese, & tarro. I might say don't start with the mung bean stuff, but that's my preference. Be sure to try a variety of things to find what you like. Do get the stamp card if you decide to be a regular.

Yelp
I live in the apartments right next door to Mekong Plaza where this wonderful bakery is, and I have no idea what took my boyfriend and I so long to realize how much we were missing out on by not checking it out. One of the absolute best parts about this plaza is AA Ozzy Bakery! When you walk in you're greeted with warm smells and more often than not you'll be asked first thing if you want a warm sample... and you probably will! They have a ton of options that change often but don't worry they keep the staples all year round. Their specialty is the sweet cream filled bread; The blueberry, cranberry, and cream cheese ones are my personal favorites! But if these are too sweet for you they also have savory options as well. Apparently at the time of writing this it's moon cake season, and their stock is limited so that was super interesting to try. Seriously just go in and enjoy, everyone who works there is really friendly and I just want them to be super successful! -Sam

Yelp
Love coming here after dinner for desert. Not sure what the items are called but the cakes they serve in the entry way have cream, coconut, red bean and they are fresh hot and delicous. Highly recommend for desert.

Yelp
We asked about an item in the case and she quickly brought us a sample. We bought a bag of the honey crisps. They are melt in your mouth crunchy goodness.

Yelp
AA Ozzy Bakery used to be called AA WHOLESOME BAKERY. Its Yelp page states it has moved, but the shop is where it's always been at- at least it's at the same location it was when I first reviewed it on August 2011... I couldn't update my review on that old business page, and so I posted this under Mekong Plaza's business page. I stumbled onto the loyalty card that I picked up on my last visit here, so this is this review's final resting place, I hope! --- Some of the pastries I've tried over the years at this bakery's location were good-- about a month ago, I tried a purple ball of taro/yam goodness that is called Spiral Mooncake**. Overheard a Filipina customer exclaim she's only seen them in China and was coming back later in the day to buy some, so I tried one, and it was d'lish! However, I just googled the recipe to find that it calls for powdered sugar (corn allergy), so I won't be getting them again. So sad... I also like the taro-coconut twisted bun (packaged in loose clear bags), but knowing that the moon cake (also in clear bags, but with glue strips on them) has powdered sugar and my accidentally buying two cakes (mung bean and taro) only to find that the machine-sealed bags they came in had nutritional info on the back that included powdered sugar, I'm hesitant to buy anything from A againAA Ozzy Bakery again. At least my waist and wallet are happy! I've also tried a few "Hone Doe cakes" from AOB's stand next to the plaza's main doors, and after the second visit, I won't go back due to the flies hovering near and ON the fillings' lids (the one with vanilla custard had flies crawling on them, and either the cook was too busy to swat them away, or she's used to them (a la street-style stand cooking!) buzzing about. I didn't know the stand belonged to AOB until I spotted a few in bags on one of the store's counters. If you weren't repelled by my account of seeing flies on the lids, then know that these sell for $0.75 each, or 7 for $5. (That's a whopping $0.25 discount, y'all!) Fillings are red mung bean, vanilla custard, coconut and raisins, and honey. The cook is constantly cooking them on a rotating "grill" that reminds me of takoyaki burners, but with slightly-larger "cups," so you may either buy them already pre-made and sitting in a table-top display case, or get them made-to-order. If you go for the latter, be ready to wait at least ten minutes, or so for them to cook. I started out writing this review with three stars, but after all the powdered sugar and Hone Doe cake fails, I had to downgrade to a two. (I feel giving AOB a one-star review is a bit harsh...) Might be a good idea to move the cake grill away from the main doors to avoid attracting outdoor flies, but then again, maybe the fillings are just too tempting and will eventually attract flies that are inside the plaza, anyway... I'll make it easy on myself and avoid the flies and the powdered-sugared pastry products and stay away from this bakeshop altogether. Otherwise, there are some tasty sweets to be had here... Check out the yogurt-filled pastry, which the shop is sampling out lately-- it's good, with a nice crispy/flaky exterior, yet pillowy interior. The filling is sweet, yet tart.

Yelp
We recently moved to Gilbert from Hawai'i via San Diego, so finding food that reminds me of home is a top priority. I went to Mekong Market to shop and saw a steady stream of people heading towards AA Bakery upon finishing at the registers and decided to check it out for myself. I picked up a package of char siu bao (honey bbq rolls) from the cold case and a few other pastries (I forget what they were exactly). The pastries were very good and I look forward to trying more varieties, but I am really here to talk about the char siu bao. My son LOVES these char siu bao. He eats them for lunch. He eats them for dinner. He even eats them for breakfast. I put them in a ziploc in the freezer and he simply heats them up in the microwave. Quick and delicious! This place will be a regular destination from here on out.

Yelp
LOVE this place. Authentic Taiwanese baked goods such as cookies, cakes, tarts, egg custards and more. Rewards program. Custom cakes and catering orders for parties. Who could ask for more?

Vivian W.

Yelp
The bread here is not soft. It seems like some of the bread are overnight and taste not good. I always ask them is the bread made by today and they said yes, but I feel like they lie to me, the bread did not test fresh at all. I had order a cake before and they gave me the wrong one, they said they can make it today and I can have it on the next day. When I go get the cake, I realized their cake is smaller then before, and the cream was less than before as well. Will not give the store a try even I really want to have a bread or cake.

Yelp
I live a little far from AAOZZY Bakery, but I had most bakery goods when I shop in MeKong. Today was my first time to used $10 off reward card (Every $10 spent to get one step, after 10 steps you can get $10 off for next purchase) when I purchased my bakery, the Chinese woman behind the counter made me feel extremely disappointed about this place. I ordered three items cost $11.04, she was mad at me about I use a credit card to pay that $1.04 after I used $10 off reward card. Then she raises her voice to require me to bring cash next time if I have small purchase. I confused about her attitude to customers and the way to do her business. Dealing with banking is part of owned business. As a business owner, you have to face some necessary fees to paid, if that has the negative impact your profit, you need to figure out your problem intent to yell at your consumer do your fewer. They're nothing wrong about the customers to use $10 off after we spent $100 on bread. No customers deserve her negative service, I won't recommend any of my friends & family to shopping AAOZZY BAKERY. Horrible business!
