"Garlic sourdough, anadama pan loaves, brioche, and more — North Shore favorite A&J King bakes it all, not to mention pretty pastries, tarts, and other treats. Founders Jackie and Andy King trained with the bread experts at Standard Baking Co. in Portland, Maine, before opening their own Salem spot in 2006; they’ve since expanded to a second location and distribute bread throughout the North Shore and Greater Boston." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

This location on Boston st is not the same as the one downtown - it is confusing because some folks have uploaded pictures of the center st one by mistake. This location has the yummy bread, coffee, and pastries but no seating, the hours are different, and no hot food options like the paninis, sandwiches, etc. Parking is much easier. Come here if you want to buy the bread, go to the other location if you want the cafe experience and hang out.

It's our job to make sure their employees are paid fairly? Uh no. Your corporate greed doesn't excuse us paying extra to compensate your employees. That's your job, not ours.

Updated review: Recently found a very large hair LAYERED in my croissant. Absolutely disgusting. After calling them out on it, I was blocked on all forms of social media. Not only is this the WRONG way to deal with it, but also incredibly petty and pathetic. Ownership showing their true colors. Good coffee, but greedy ownership touting their business as queer-friendly when it is, in fact NOT, make it difficult to support this business. The owners are two of the most unkind people I have ever met. Hopefully they can change their ways before it runs them out of business.

Favorite bakery in the area. I always try to visit a few times when I’m in town. Delicious for lunch and sweet/savory treats. The staff are always very friendly, too!

I come here almost daily. Cold brew is awesome, I am also a big fan of their latte on cooler days. The pastry selection is excellent, and I like they keep rotating in interesting varieties of scones. There are some awesome folks working here - with very rare exception they are pleasant to talk to & quick to help.

A big new sign says they are open at 7am. It's 7:55am on Saturday and they are closed. I've been trying to shop at this location for years now. Every time I go they are closed. I will never try again.

Larger than their downtown Salem location but same goodies. Like that they separated the coffee station. Good amount of parking.
