In-N-Out Inspires a Pair of Puma Sneakers | Eater

"Patrons reportedly continued to wait in the drive‑thru queue even after the building caught fire, with customers remaining in line despite the visible blaze—an incident that highlighted concerning customer behavior and raised questions about safety and emergency response at the location." - Whitney Filloon

You can really tell they care about what they serve. The fish sandwich is one of my favorites-crispy, flavorful, and never greasy. The onion rings are just as good-perfectly fried and not too heavy. And I have to mention the fries-they're always fresh, hot, and perfectly salted. Definitely one of my go-to spots when I want a satisfying meal:

Amazing food & service! The onion rings are crispy, cheese curds are melty, fries always fresh, and the root beer hits the spot. Friendly staff and fast service every time. Highly recommend! 🍟🧅🧀🥤

A little better than your typical fast food experience. Burgers are delicious and made to order. Actually taste like real beef unlike most burger chains. Gotta have a root beer float. I mean it is A&W. There great. It was very quiet when we went. Place was spotless including bathrooms.

I don't know how there's so many positive reviews about the A&W fast food restaurant located in Hudson New York. I am currently at that establishment and by the looks of things all the windows are dirty I pulled up to the drive-thru menu there is no light to see the items available I've been pulled up to order here speaker and sat there for about 8 minutes before I decided to proceed to the next window when a young man came to the window and I asked him did you not know I was at the speaker he says oh I'm sorry but I was in the middle of a conversation so you don't even stop for a second and say please hold someone will be with you to take your order I find that sadly disturbing when you look through the window you see the area that is dirty and not clean I asked if he knew if this was corporate or franchise he knew nothing about the restaurant I asked where the manager was and he stated the managers usually next door as I proceeded to make an order give him my money he takes the money with gloves on as he's handling other people's money with gloves on and I watch him prepare my food with dirty soiled gloves overall I give it a thumbs down customer service was poor as well as the quality of the food

Went through the drive thru and no one was in front of us. Food didn't take long. Root beer was excellent and fries were crunchy and salty. The burger was also very good. Everything was hot and fresh when we got it.

Google
Every time I come to this drive thru I’m the only one in line, which is both convenient for me but also confusing. This is consistently some of the best fast food I can get. It’s always made fresh when I order it and everything is always correct in the order. Two things that never happen at McDonald’s or any other place like that. I really can’t figure out why there aren’t more of these around the area.

Clean place, friendly service. Everything made fresh, cooked to order. Great burgers, delicious shakes.

Google
All-in-all it was a great experience. Fresh & Hot food. The only complaint I have is that I asked for a Strawberry-Watermelon FREEZE and got a Strawberry MILKSHAKE. I didn't notice until we were half-way down the NYS Thruway! Shame.

Yelp
This should be 0 stars. Service and food is terrible never going there again they laughed when I was trying to talk "very professional" just kidding this is why no one goes to this place anymore they all rude

Yelp
Driving on a road trip from Massachusetts to Hudson New York and happened upon this oasis on the road. We were so excited because we haven't been to one since we were children. We ordered mini corn dogs, fries, cheese curds, all beef hotdogs, ice cold root beers and ice root beer freezes ( a combination of root beer and vanilla soft serve ). It was a delightful lunch and a nostalgic trip back to the days of A&W drive inn restaurants, car hops, and window trays. Wonderful experience and really amazing root beer.

Yelp
Drive-through staff were insanely rude. Not to mention Covid protocol was not being followed. Staff making drinks not even wearing a mask. Other staff members weren't using gloves. Also they won't sell mini sized products there. They'll only sell full size wonder why because it's more profitable for them.

Yelp
Great for what it is! The root beer float is a must! Onion rings and fries are fast food style perfect! Definitely making this a new cravings target spot for the float!

Yelp
This is the best fast food place in the area. Yes, it may look a bit rough, but taste the fare and you'll find it's a diamond in the rough, and one well worth polishing.

Yelp
I only recently learned of this place, and I saw it had no new reviews in over a year. My hope was that because it was still open a year later, especially not being on the main drag and with mediocre reviews, the owners (no idea if the same ones as last year) got their act together. In my opinion, they did. The restaurant is clean, with tables, comfortable booths, and bistro seating. The rest rooms are clean too. I was greeted by someone behind the counter as soon as I walked through the door. When my eat-in order was ready, instead of being called to the counter to get it, one of the staff brought it to my table. My burger reminded me more of one from a Shake Shack than the other "Big 3 burger chains" (that, to me, is a compliment). The toppings were fresh, the sauce did not overwhelm the burger, and I appreciated that I finally found a place without sesame seeds on the bun. The fries were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, without having any kind of obvious coating to make them artificially crisp. But I do have issue with the soda, in particular the corporate hype. I need to distinguish that from the food and service, because I'm not sure the owners have much control over that. They have a huge sign over the soda fountain touting that their root beer is "made in the store" and "contains pure cane sugar." First, technically, every soda is made in the store, because the process of pressing the lever merges the carbonated water and the syrup. Second, it does not say "100% cane sugar," nor does it say "contains no corn syrup." We can only conclude that some portion between 0% and 100% of the sweetener is cane sugar. By the way, a bottle of A&W root beer in a supermarket contains no sugar, all HFCS. Fortunately (for them), when unsweetened iced tea is not available, A&W Root Beer tends to be my second choice. Even so, I was very satisfied with my meal here. I was getting tired of the extremely inconsistent food and service I had been getting at the "big 3 burger chains" on Route 9. As long as this place is open and continues to stay consistent, I'd rather stop here.

Yelp
My daughter and I love the Rootbeer Floats! In addition, they have the best onion rings that goes so well with their famous dipping sauce. Recently, I tried the little fish slider. It was absolutely perfect in every way! I look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
This A&W Restaurant with drive-thru window opened in February 2013 in the Greenport Commons next to the Mobil/66 Food Mart. This location serves up the standard fast food fare & combo deals including Papa Burgers, Bacon Dbl Cheeseburgers, Chicken Sandwiches, Coneys, Chicken Strips, fried foods, kids cruisers, A&W & Pepsi fountain drinks (self serve), and cold treats. I've been a fan of A&W Root Beer Floats for a very long time, but there are not many A&W locations close to where I live, hence this is a wicked good frosty treat for me! The last time I enjoyed an A&W Root Beer Float was last year in Atlantic Canada, where A&W Restaurants are practically everywhere. I stopped in at the Greenport A&W recently for a snack. The place was fairly steady when I arrived here. The dining area looked clean too. I get up to the counter and order a Large Root Beer Float ($2.99 plus tax). It took a while to get my float, almost 6 minutes in total after ordering. The service behind the counter seemed very scattered and flustered as the drive thru was also busy and the staff (some newbies here) looked overwhelmed (what next?/why is it foaming?). I was initially given my Root Beer Float in a to go styrofoam cup, but I wanted to have my float here served in a large cold frosty glass mug. The counterperson goes back and the Root Beer Float is remade in a big cold glass mug and leaves it on the counter and walks away, which I assume was mine. Other than the service (could improve), the Root Beer Float was great and very refreshing, which had A&W Root Beer (not flat) and dense soft serve vanilla ice cream over topped, foaming a lot at the top (I needed several napkins). The A&W Root Beer Float I had in Canada was similar, but had hard packed vanilla ice cream instead.

Yelp
I drove about an hour to try A and W because I was told back in the day it was great. Now it is awful. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. The burger was terrible, it was undercooked and the bun was soggy. The meat tasted funny, it was so bad I couldn't even finish it. The fries were okay, they had decent flavor, but were nothing special. I also ordered a chocolate shake. It was fine, but a little too thick. Overall, A and W was a huge disappointment and I will probably never be back.

Yelp
The man at the drive through was Incredibly rude, zero customer service. He was also handling food without gloves on after handling money. The woman was preparing drinks and food without a mask as well. When I asked for a spoon for my polar freeze he gave me a hard time and asked why I needed a spoon?! Then as he finally handed me a spoon he held the part of the spoon you eat off of with his again ungloved hands. The wait time was very long which I was willing to look past if the customer services wasn't so horrendous. The overall experience was unprofessional, and unsanitary.

Yelp
Pulled up to the order menu, and got no response. Pulled up to the window looking for service and a female cashier informed me that they close at 9. I look at my watch, 8:45. She sees me look at my watch and before I can say anything she says they already closed the grills. It was awfully nice that I didn't get my dinner because they wanted to leave early.

Yelp
Came to this restaurant, and the service was terrible. The guy taking our order was very rude, and was rushing us through our ordering process. Bees were also coming into our car as they have a huge nest outside. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
I remember when I was a kid going and getting excited about going to A&W. What a joy. Today while looking for a grocery store in a new area. And to my surprise to find a Restraunt. We had lunch I had the poppa burger. I was fantastic really. I remember the frosty mug we used to get but they were out of them. But the fries. Were plentiful more then you need and the root beer was amazing better then I remembered. Please please please go there. You will enjoy you self the staff Billie and asha were wonder overall I had a great experience you will too

Yelp
Although I didn't originally know about this restaurant until my mother introduced it to me a week ago, I was all like "Yeah, let's go!"  But when we actually went there, I had to second guess myself.  Not only did their cashiers not know much about their products they served, but it took them forever to cook and serve their meals (about a half hour for a small fry order) and a second order later of just one ice-cream. The root-beer machine (which always generally is shown as a canister to people with the 1920's style handle/knob) wasn't anywhere' s close.  I wasn't thrilled, when I saw that it was in the form of a soda-machine and not the style visitors have come to know and love. And to top that all off: I literally froze my a** off.  They had the air conditioning on, and every member of my family was saying the same thing: it's too cold in here.  Although the restaurant responded with a statement of how "they didn't feel it was very cold where they were working", they did turn it to where the place got warmer and we were beginning to feel comfortable, but by that time it was too late and we were heading out the door. #toolittletoolate. I know I won't be returning to this place anytime soon (despite it's proximity to my hometown-about a 30 minute drive away).  If I were you, please change your course and back off this place, or you'll not be impressed with it either.  There are other locations in New York State alone, and this one just didn't qualify for any "awards" in my book.

Yelp
I had the Bacon Cheeseburger combo meal and it was fantastic. Well worth the 40 mins to visit the closest A&W in the Capital Region NY area. Typical fast food fare of course but much better than McDonalds. Sadly the ice cream machine was broken so we couldn't have a classic root beer float. The root beet is made right on site too which is a nice touch.

Yelp
The food is here pretty tasty, never had something I did not like. Although, the service is INCREDIBLY SLOW!. The staff of one adult and two teenagers are completely overwhelmed with just 2 orders on the screen. It took 5 minutes for our order to be taken and 15 minutes to get the food. 2 people were waiting for the food and by the look on their faces they could not believe how long it was taking to get 4 hamburgers and 4 orders of fries. I could see people waiting in the drive-thru and the whole time we were there they managed to service only 2 cars. PLEASE HIRE MORE PEOPLE OR TEACH YOUR STAFF TO HAVE A SENSE OF URGENCY

Yelp
Incredible new asset to Hudson. The Root Beer is made on site, and the servers are very considerate. We go often and sometimes they have free deals if you sign up on their website for texts. All around great food, especially for the price. H.M.
