Plastic Straw Bans Are Finally Gaining Traction | Eater
"Led by David Rhodes, the company's global business director, this paper-straw manufacturer is depicted as one of the fastest-growing firms in its field; Rhodes, described as exceptionally busy, talks about what it's like to scale the business and asks consumers to give paper straws a second chance amid rising demand for alternatives to plastic." - Amanda Kludt
"An Indiana-based paper-straw manufacturer founded in 2007 with a packaging-company parent, known for product innovations (jumbo lengths, striped cocktail versions, logo-printed straws and the patented Eco-Flex bendy straw). The company emphasizes proprietary materials and processes — a special, food-grade paper and adhesive with no coatings sourced from sustainably planted trees — and a closed-factory policy to protect quality. It argues that producing consistently durable paper straws requires months of operator training and careful equipment/chain management, differentiating its output from low-cost imports from China that have given paper straws a bad reputation. As demand has surged after increased media attention and retail/municipal straw bans, the company has been rapidly expanding capacity, hiring and training operators, expediting shipments for high-profile events and phasing rollouts to large customers and environmentally sensitive areas rather than fulfilling everyone at once. Its R&D and third-party testing show its straws perform across many beverages if used properly, and the manufacturer advocates for straws-on-demand and reusable alternatives to reduce overall plastic-straw consumption." - Daniel Geneen
These straws suck. I don't think it helps the environment to use 3 paper straws to drink instead of one plastic one. They get so soggy and it makes it unbearable to drink anything. It makes me debate whether or not I should hydrate myself. Find a way to make these straws not soggy. Maybe put a coating of wax or something like paper plates. Just because it's paper does not mean that it has to be soggy.

Used one of their straws in Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford Museum. Thanks to both HFM and Aardvark for helping to clean up the environment. Also, the straw held up just fine in my cold drink.

I like the idea of a paper straw but they are horrible, they collapse before you finish your drink. And don't even try drinking a milkshake. No straw is better.
