The Most Fun Dinner Spots In London

"After visiting Aba-Ra!, the exclamation mark makes sense. Groups do brandy shots at 1pm on weekdays. Influencers, drawn to the Georgian spot by the promise of arm-span cheese pulls, pose under the neon sign. And kindly staff lead you off Brick Lane and into seats beside chalkboard walls scrawled with graffiti tags. The comforting food has the same warm, irreverent sense of fun as the restaurant—soups with little bread lids and meat feast khachapuris." - jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley

The 8 Best Georgian Restaurants In London - London - The Infatuation

"After visiting Aba-Ra!, the exclamation mark makes sense. Groups in ties do shots of brandy at 1pm, influencers pose under the neon sign, and kindly staff lead those stepping in from Brick Lane to seats with sheepskin throws. Aba-Ra! - Review - Spitalfields - London - The Infatuation

"After visiting Aba-Ra!, the exclamation mark in its name makes sense. Groups in ties and shirts do shots of brandy at 1pm on a weekday. Influencers, drawn to the Georgian spot by its meat feast khachapuri, pose under the neon sign and attempt arm-span cheese pulls. And kindly staff lead those stepping in from Brick Lane to seats with sheepskin throws, beside chalkboard walls scrawled with graffiti tags. If we were writing this Spitalfields spot’s school report, the word ‘characterful’ would come up. So would the phrase ‘just wants to have fun’. The food is mostly great, with the same warm, irreverent sense of fun as the restaurant—soups with little bread lids, inventive takes on khachapuri, and yes, the odd complimentary round of shots. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Food Rundown Spiced Mint Khachapuri For anyone who finds a classic khachapuri too rich or one-note, this spiced mint version is a nice alternative. You still get that decadent cheesiness but it’s balanced with fresh mint and a slightly spicy ajika sauce. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Dumpling Soup A soup that will cure whatever ails you. The chicken broth is salty and moreish, the yoghurt adds creaminess, and the dumplings are adorable, tiny, meat-packed boulders that bob about. The baked bread lid isn’t the tastiest bread here, but it’s a fun way to serve this. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Sinéad Cranna

This is a restaurant everyone should know about. Everything was perfect. The food is delicious, full of flavour, and great for sharing. The semi-sweet wine was also really good. The team is lovely, and the place is super clean and beautifully decorated. I’d recommend it to anyone — and definitely suggest sharing dishes so you can try as many as possible, because they’re all amazing.

I've been here four times now and each times it's been very impressive. The decor and atmosphere is intimate and friendly, the service is responsive and timely and the food is brilliant! My personal favourites are the Khachipuris (they look like pizzas but so much richer in flavour and thicker, packed full of mozzarella) and the Khinkalis (massive dumplings, make sure not to burn yourself on the inside!!). It seems like a family run business and you can tell they've put real heart and soul into the place. An absolute gem on Brick Lane, and even more impressive considering the competition around!

I’ve been wanting to visit this place for a while, and I finally made it! I strongly advise booking a table in advance. The food was delicious! We followed the staff’s recommendations, and it was so worth it. The portions were great for sharing. It’s a nice and cozy place, and I really enjoyed the décor. The staff were incredible!

George and Anna were such wonderful hosts - we felt like we had been invited to their home for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious - our first time eating Georgian cuisine, and Anna guided us through the menu and her recommendations were perfect - including the traditional Amber Georgian wine which was perfect with our meal. We had Crepe Roll and Elarji Elegance (the walnut sauce was exceptional) Spinach Kachapuri, and Beef Khinlalies. Our waiters - George & another young man whose name I didn’t get - taught us how to eat the dishes the traditional way and even gave us a complimentary shot of spirits to have in-between the Khinkalies! It really elevated the flavours - highly recommend.

First time trying and very good experience. The staff are super friendly and they even teach you how to correctly eat the dumpling (bcos it has a lot of soup). The dumpling was an interesting experience considering the sheer size of it but still tasty. My favourite was the beef stew - just an incredible broth with a lot of beef flavour and I recommend this the most.

Been wanting to try this for so long, didn’t disappoint! Staff were friendly, food amazing!!! So delicious we had the mixed tapas starter, everything was so different and interesting, kathcapuri was so delicious and cheesy, we shared a salad and dumplings I had mushroom ones and was amazing. Great amount of food really unique experience and great for veggies and lots of vegan options. The wine was amazing too! Can’t wait to go again

We had dinner at this restanrant for a taste of Georgian food. To have the equivalence of a cheese pizza and dumplings in the same meal was quite an experience. The food was quite good, with the dumplings being the highlight, they were extremely juicy! The chicken was well seasoned albeit a bit dry but still acceptable. The salad was nothing special, as you would expect from the standard garden salad variety. Overall, it was quite a satisfying meal. There was a service charge of 12.5% added to the bill, which apparently is normal nowadays. With a bill of 70+ pounds that came out to around 8.5 pounds in the service charge. They were slow to return (hesitant) the change of a few pounds which was quite a let down, given it was already mostly included in the bill. The service also took quite a hit bringing the experience down, our waiter seemed to be in a bad mood and was quite slow to service. Otherwise, it was a nice experience. The place does get quite busy, so make sure to reserve ahead for spot.

This was my first time trying Georgian food, and it completely exceeded my expectations. Every dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding—the gentleman who served us was incredibly attentive and made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. The red wine was also a real standout—hands down the best I’ve ever had. If you’re curious about Georgian cuisine or just looking for a unique and satisfying dining experience, I can’t recommend this place enough. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in London!
