Abades - Review - Triana - Seville - The Infatuation

"You’re at this fancy tasting menu spot in Triana for the river views that are just as spectacular as the glammed-up Andalusian plates that look like they came from a science lab. There are several tasting menus (€60-€340), all of which are seafood and meat-centric and change daily, and no matter what you choose, you’ll leave feeling like royalty. The 100-percent acorn-fed Pura Raza jamón is cured for over three years and carved tableside. Traditional ensaladilla is transformed into shrimp tartar topped with a deep-fried sea anemone. And lightly fried eggs are topped with Almandraba tuna and truffles. After you’ve finished your glass of tinto from Sierra Norte de Sevilla, or any one of the wines off their 60-page menu, you’d be smart to order the coffee-infused mascarpone cream dessert spilling out of a mug." - Aileen Weintraub

First, let’s start with the views and aesthetic of the restaurant. It’s absolutely beautiful . We came for a wedding and we had the “cube.” Perhaps, I have traveled to the almost every main city and we have had delicious amazing food and unfortunately, I felt like the actually taste didn’t match the restaurant aesthetic or the hype. For example, we found that the presentation was pretty but the actual taste was not there hardly ever. The waitresses were nice and attentive. It reminds of the saying “trying too hard” we had food in smaller basic restaurants and it was wayyyyy better compared to this one.

We were a party of 5 and made an online reservation for 3:45 pm. We arrive at 3:54 . The check in desk told us that the kitchen will close at 4pm and that we were late and she was not sure if we can still be accomodated. She went inside and then came back out and told us that yes we can go inside but we have to hurry to order before 4pm. we got hurriedly seated and we quickly browse the menu. And made our choices. My question is , why would an online reservation be offered for 3:45pm if the kitchen will close at 4pm . I deducted 2 star on their service because of the kind of welcome we received on arrival. Otherwise, The food tasted good as expected and the tower and river view was beautiful .

With its beautiful atmosphere, stunning view, and attentive staff, this has quickly become my favourite restaurant in Seville. I went for the “exploration of unique gastronomic experiences” set menu and it was a treat, great value for money and full of memorable flavours. The amuse-bouche and sea bass were absolute chef’s kiss. Perfect for a romantic night out, and one I’d strongly recommend.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Abades Triana Restaurante, and it was a truly memorable fine dining experience. We chose the Doñana Palate tasting menu with wine pairing, and every course was outstanding — beautifully plated, refined, and full of flavour. The level of culinary excellence easily matched the breathtaking view across the river toward the Torre del Oro. A special thanks to Merebet and Lewin, who were exceptionally friendly and professional. Their attentive service added a warm and personal touch to the evening. If there’s one area for improvement: we had reserved a table for 8:00 PM and arrived early. While we were happy to wait for the dining room to open, it felt a bit strange to see walk-in guests (without reservations) being seated before those with confirmed bookings. Hopefully, this aspect of guest flow can be better managed. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend Abades Triana for a special evening in Seville.

The restaurant and its setting along the river were beautiful, but for top dollar prices, the food and service were disappointing. One waiter was excellent and friendly, but the second server was rather rude, and brought my husband a drink in a dirty glass, and then did not replace the drink when she brought a new, empty glass. She also did not check in once after the food was delivered to see if we needed anything (which we did... a new drink!) The food should have been excellent but was mediocre instead. My husband's steak was just okay and small for the price. My rice and scallops had only one large scallop, sliced thinly, at the bottom of the bowl. For that price and that level of dining experience, I expected 5-6 large scallops. The rice was fine, but nothing exceptional. This was supposed to be a celebratory dinner, but it was more hype than value. We weren't even seated next to the window, so there wasn't much of a view. I really wanted to love this place, but I won't return.

Google
The food was delicious, but the portions were quite small for the high price. We chose the optional "Premium" table at €15 per person, expecting a more refined experience—but it was still a disappointment. The service was poor: our waitress was rude and didn’t speak any English, and we had to pour our own wine because the waiter was never around. For a restaurant of this class, that’s just not acceptable.

Google
Just excellent! Had a tasting menu and my kids a la carte , phenomenal food , top service . They had tasting menu and kids menu and a la carte. The views are great. Highly recommend it. Delicious.

Google
Sincere recommendations for Abades Triana Restaurant! From excellent communication for the reservation, purchasing a bouquet, and the outstanding service of all the staff, thank you so much! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. We will always remember your restaurant and Seville because this marks a new beginning for us. I’m leaving pictures in the review. ❤️

Yelp
Fancy restaurant for a special occasion. I made dinner reservations here to celebrate my friend's birthday while we were in Spain. I think the reservations open up 2 weeks beforehand or something like that. Please note that the restaurant portion of the restaurant is completely indoors, but they have a huge patio outside as well. Even if you don't eat at the restaurant, I highly recommend grabbing a drink on their patio. I recommend making the reservation on The Fork's website (it's a reservation platform similar to OpenTable or Resy) and requesting the premium table which is 15€ more per person. Along with the best table along the window, it also comes with a complimentary drink/cocktail, coffee or tea post-dinner, and a free selection of small dessert bites. Totally worth it imo! We started the meal with a drink each. I had a frozen watermelon daiquiri and he had a Long Island, both of which were included in the premium seating. We had a late lunch so we weren't terribly hungry. Shared one appetizer and we each ordered our own entree. To start, we had the fried eggs and truffle (asked them to remove the tuna so it would be vegetarian) for 22.50€. It was probably the fanciest scrambled eggs I've ever had. Was it worth the price? Probably not. But we still really enjoyed it, especially with all the vegetables they added on top. For my main, I got the charcoal grilled suckling pig (32€). I love suckling pig in general, and this was no exception. The meat was super tender and the skin was crispy. Presentation was great as well; I was really amused by how the mashed potatoes looked like they were piped onto the plate. My friend got the vegan sirloin steak (19€), aka grilled eggplant, for his main. He said it was okay but not amazing. That makes sense. How good can grilled eggplant get, right? Overall, I'm glad we celebrated my friend's birthday here. It was nice to have a fancy meal to look forward to among all the other casual tapas meals we had.

Yelp
The view is 10/10 for sure. We did not pay the extra 15 E pp for a front row table and had a beautiful 2nd row table with the same view. The food is average at best and the staff feels quite militaristic if you aren't ordering to their schedule. Our beef sirloin came out at room temperature. Not the experience we envisioned at all for such a pricey place. We had so many great meals in Seville and this was this was not one of them. But the view...

Yelp
This restaurant has the perfect view of the river. Make sure to pay 15 euros more per person, if you want to get the premium table with the best view, high quality service, and a complimentary wine or champagne. We ordered steak and mashed potatoes and we loved it! I would say this is of the nicest restaurants in Spain!

Yelp
Very fancy restaurant, perfect for a date night. Beautiful views right on the river. Definitely pricey, but the experience is lovely. We sat outside and enjoyed the environment a lot. We got a cheese appetizer with a bottle of wine to start the night. We ordered the whole fish for entrees, they did a great job with it. Coffee with complimentary dessert to end the night, it was great.

Yelp
Came here for diner with my son as we made reservations in advance that I highly suggest. The location has a beautiful setting and is elegant. We sat by the river outside as the sun was going down. Our particular table came with a free drink and chose a Cava that was delicious. The meal was great in presentation and taste. My only sad detail is that the waitress appeared busy and was not able to exactly explain the different courses well as they came to our table. Yet, she was very friendly and pleasant. You can't go wrong with anything in their menu. The matre'd Even took my son's food allergy into consideration. It can be pricey but well worth the splurge. Enjoy.

Yelp
This was the best restaurant we found in our week Spain and it was the very last one before we left for Portugal. I think it competes well with the best restaurants in the big cities anywhere. It is set on the Guadalquivir river with giant 30 foot windows and a stunning view of the famous old sites, including the Cathedral and the Tower. See pics. They played groove Buddha Bar music at just the right volume. The decor and ambiance are top notch. 5-star all the way. The service was impeccable from reception to the bar to all of the servers. The manager came by and was charming as well. Everyone spoke English very well, which can be somewhat rare in Spain. They brought complimentary olives to the table and they were the best olives I have ever had. Some of them were the size of walnuts and there were 3 or 4 varieties, See pics. They also brought complimentary salmon over avocado mousse. They offer 5 types of fresh-baked bread from a big platter basket. We ordered a pina colada and a glass of riojas from the bar. Pina Colada is hard to get in a restaurant generally and a dicey drink to get right outside of the tropical resort hotels, but this one was flawless. I do not love riojas, but this one, their recommendation, was excellent. They offer fresh cut cured ham from a full leg of pork set on a rack, kind of like a spit. We did not order it but the table next to us did and it looked great. Since this was our second lunch, so we ordered sea bass over risotto to share and it was outstanding. The texture was firm and grilled to crispy outside. For dessert they brought a complimentary tower of small desserts. The prices were not bad for a high-end restaurant, the entree was 27 euro. This restaurant has made tremendous progress since the terrible experience Naz E had in 2015. I did not see the bread fee or the tourist fee in my bill. Just the standard EU IVA tax. I wonder if it is under new management. We highly recommend Abades for lunch or dinner or even just to stop in for a drink.

Yelp
High end, fancy restaurant with an amazing view. Overall beautiful restaurant with a very friendly staff but the food took forever to come out. Ordered a bunch of veggie dishes that were flavorless and a medium cooked tuna steak. Steak was very well done and it too was flavorless. Since we had already waited so long we had to leave and couldn't wait for them to bring out another tuna steak. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Food is well prepared and lovely to look at. Rooftop seating over-looking Gualdaquiver River and Toro del Oro is beautiful. The lamb and fish were very good. Wine list extensive with option of by the glass. I have been on my last two trips to Sevilla and will return next time.

Yelp
Total racket. Took two bites of my meal and couldn't handle another (and my wife's food came out cold). Waitress came by and I shared my experience. She basically shrugged and explained how some people just don't like that entree. Uh, ok. But a self-proclaimed "elegant" restaurant needs to act like one. Gave them multiple opportunities to make it right, no one bothered to try. Even Applebee's tries to make it right. Appetizers/salads $16-30; main plates/tasting menu $30-100. Good views, but so does every other place along the river. #Avoid

Yelp
Great food and ambiance. Service is on the slow side but very proper servers. Recommended when in Seville.

Yelp
Food was OK, service was OK. Definitely not worth the price. Do not order the lobster. Entirely underwhelmed. Would not go back. Wound not recommend. Was overall just ok. View was great.

Yelp
The two stars are for the good service and the excellent ice cream that my group had for dessert, plus I feel guilty taking off stars for certain foods I don't enjoy. However, the pork I was given was quite literally intercrossed by fat and/or tendons, and was for the most part inedible unless you precisely cut very tiny pieces out of the mess it was. Very disappointing for such an expensive restaurant in a beautiful place.

Yelp
Make sure you know what you're getting into when coming here. It is a very nice and "boujee" restaurant. The menu prices aren't terrible however the atmosphere is not casual at all. We sat down and realized this and the staff handled it so well in helping us to leave before ever ordering and even recommended us another place to go. If you're looking for more fine dining with a great view, this is your place!

Yelp
Abades Triana is overall a very average restaurant. We pre-booked a table with a view of the river at this restaurant because of the incredible view. This table cost an additional 15€ per person. Unfortunately, the lights are so bright in the restaurant you can't see much because of the glare that is created off the windows. Be aware of the Iberaco Ham, while it is delicious, they charge $36 for a plate, and they neglect to tell you that when they ask if you would like some. Also, be aware that they charge for bread and oil service, which they also neglect to mention as they serve it to you. The steak we ordered was no better than ordering from an average restaurant down the street, and the potato that came with it was sorely undercooked and dry. I ordered the red snapper fish, and while it was good, there was nothing great about it. Again, very average. Dessert was surprisingly good. But the brownie bite they give you with the bill is very dry and flavorless.

Yelp
Very disappointing. Beggar walked in, came to our table, wanted food. Distracted is and stole my iPhone. Restaurant staff didn't handle the situation well at all. They said this type of thing doesn't happen at their restaurant and couldn't do anything about. To make matters worse they asked us to pay the bill. They were extremely rude. Frankly the food for this type of place and service are below average. Horrible experience.

Yelp
Somehow we decided to fight the 106 temperatures and cab/taxi strike and walk three miles to this restaurant. We were glad that we made that decision. We reserved VIP table on the river terrace but opted to be seated inside as it was high 90s outside. Staff was very accommodating and courteous. Our waiter for the table didn't speak much English so it was a problem ordering exact drinks. We tried their entree menu (rather than degustation). The location of the place couldn't be better with right on the river and glass walls to maximize that view all throughout the restaurant. The food was bit of a let down and I would give it a 3 Star. Also the surcharges for a VIP table was applied per person seemed bit gouging. If I lived in Seville, I would visit this place for drinks but opt to dinner elsewhere. Couple of their more casual terrace areas were closed so restaurant, sit down place, was the only option available. Yea I know this sounds confusing but you have to dig into their website to understand this different settings.

Yelp
After waiting a particularly long time, although not busy, we were finally seated at a lovely window seat. Water was served, but no drinks were offered. We ordered the business lunch, which was lovely, but again no drinks offered .. although included in the lunch... we had to ask. Presumably, it was the house wine finally offered, but certainly no mention of the name, vintage or type ... and had to ask for the second glass... We were never asked if we wanted another beverage, be it wine, coffee or whatever. Service was appalling. We are three older females that travel a great deal, having worked in the airline business and also a former chef. The food was outstanding, innovative, creative and delicious... Cudos to the hard working chefs and kitchen staff. However, shame on this restaurant for very bad service. Clearly, they have preconceived and outdated notions of women dining. How very and extremely disappointing this dining experience was for us. Sadly, for the chefs, cooks and kitchen staff of this very expensive establishment we will not be recommending this restaurant.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would. In fact, I formally offered to give the manager and all his staff a private training on manners and common decency The wait staff dropped three separate utensils on me ( two on my lap and one on my shoe) and while each time it was snatched up, never once did I hear an apology. Apparently it's normal to have a strange man reach into a females lap two times without notice. There are chairs in the front whereby one can order drinks or food. That waiter was rude. So we asked the nice hostess to give us a table if one opens up. She (shockingly enough) was extremely professional. She told us for a table, reservations are needed. We said thank you for being nice and we will remain at the front. We decided to overlook the rude waiter and order. He never came back. As we were leaving, the hostess said one table will open up in 10 mins. We stayed. Sure enough 10 mins later we got a table. Whereby utensils began to fall and rude waiter after rude busboy surrounded us. We asked for the check 5 separate times and we were ignored I got up to walk inside to get someone's attention and suddenly no one knew what "check" was. They looked at me like I was asking for a unicorn tail Can I have the bill? The check? I want to pay? I had to waive a credit card to get someone's attention. They said "go sit. We will bring it". So I returned to the table. Exactly 12 mins later- my husband had enough. He said he will go to the bathroom. He walks off and the manager and three of the waiters came over and surrounded my table asking why I didn't want to pay. Classic I don't really have to give stars to explain the atrocity that is this restaurant. And the kicker? Every table gets charged 7 euros for bread that you don't ever see unless you ask for it. But you have to pay for it. Furthermore there is a "tourism" fee that is about 18 percent of the bill. Atrocious. The view is nice. But seriously avoid this place like the plague.

Ian S.

Yelp
Can't believe my friend and I walked in here. Hostess was great, very kind and friendly. Everything else made us feel unwanted; manager at the door acted like we didn't exist after a first glance. Waitress refused to acknowledge us for 30 minutes and then approached us asking if we wanted a drink. The issue was, we didn't even have water or a menu the entire time. She then told us one moment while she went to get menus, another 5 minutes and no menus but she did go to the kitchen multiple times and dealt with her other tables while never approaching us again. I would never eat here if my life depended on it because I know no food would show up anyways. As the owner, I would be embarrassed with my employees (managerial staff especially) and take strict action to never have a guest go through an experience like this again. We ended up leaving after 45 minutes of one interaction with our waitress. Oh, by the way, it was not a busy night; maybe 5-6 other tables with a full staff of 10-12 people.
