This Week’s New Hotels

"Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay is the confident first entry into the world of country-house hotels by Paris Society, a brand known more for restaurants than rooms. That all might change thanks to this medieval abbey that's been restored, expanded, and transformed into a thoroughly impressive country escape." - MICHELIN Guide

Abbaye des Vaux de Cernay (Cernay-la-ville, Île-de-France) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Paris Society brand is not strictly a hotel company — its portfolio is heavier on restaurants than on rooms — but nor are they amateurs at this business. The Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay is their first entry into the world of country-house hotels, and it’s a confident one. The raw material is a medieval abbey that was restored and expanded in the late 19th century by the Baroness Charlotte de Rothschild; today, after another round of careful attention, it’s been transformed once more, into a thoroughly impressive country escape." - Tablet Hotels

I booked this room as a surprise for my partner on the occasion of our anniversary. The experience was nothing short of amazing. We stayed in one of the rooms of the farm and our welcome was impeccable with staff answering our questions and providing helpful information including calling up a local restaurant to make a booking and then creating a booking at one of the restaurants in site when we found out the local restaurant was closed for renovations. The bikes were great and we enjoyed the pool with the service there also very welcoming and kind. I booked the brunch at the refectory which was lovely but probably should have just had breakfast at the farm as it also looked lovely. Overall, an incredibly relaxing experience for us both. Really impressed by all the staff we interacted with and can’t wait to come back again.

This is one of the best stays we've ever had. The place is incredibly beautiful, a short ride from Paris but a country retreat that feels far removed. There are amenities-a-plenty -- boats, bikes, cinema, heated pool, gouter and karaoke -- but what sets Abbay des Vaux de Cernay apart are the rich interiors and doting staff. Robin constantly made himself available to meet our every need from an introduction to the property, trips to the farm and meals and genuine courtesy. Thank you to him and to all of the hotel staff for making it such a pleasant stay. We'll be back soon.

My husband and I just had the immense pleasure of staying at this luxurious property straight out of a storybook. I cannot even put into words how beautiful the grounds and buildings are. We ate incredible meals at Trattoria, L’Auberge, James Bar. We also enjoyed a drink by a crackling fire at Betty’s and were awestruck by the breakfast in the oldest building on property. One of the managers, Julien, was exceptionally accommodating to us and seemed to appear out of nowhere to provide exactly what we needed with the type of hospitality that made us feel like we had been friends for years. Our room was beautiful and comfortable and we enjoyed many activities like the spa (truly the best massage I’ve ever had in my entire life), boating, hiking, and even the arcade. I truly hope we are able to come back again and again. Thank you for such an exceptional visit, we won’t forget it! ❤️

We came for the brunch at €149.00 Euros per person for all you can eat.|To be frank, it is not worth the price unless you eat a lot of … save your money and eat elsewhere. The quality of the food was alright and the service so so. |Save your money and for the same amount eat at Yannick Alleno’ brunch in Paris at the Pavilion ! You will not get the surroundings atmosphere you get at the Abbaye but as far as the food it’s not comparable for the same price ! |We came across many snob Bourgeois Parisians staying overnight there …: so the crowd might not be for everyone ! The grounds are amazing though

LOVED my stay at the hotel, I stayed in one of the Farm cottages and it was beautiful. The whole area is breathtaking with lots of free activities to do like indoor cinema, arcade room, boats, interacting with animals, etc. highly recommended to stay at least 2 nights to enjoy it!

Google
the grounds are stunning and the offer of leisure activities range from horseback riding over lakeside painting to tennis and shooting practice - a superb french countryside getaway with a scenery to marvel at and breakfast and afternoon buffet options, that let one feel like in Hogwarts at the magic table. The only issue: the service is more than suboptimal: whilst most are friendly, especially the bar team are a hallmark of forthcoming kindness and professionalism, others exhibit somewhat of an attitude. One waitress made a point of ignoring us throughout our stay and bringing our orders cold (cold coffee a good 40min into our breakfast is not too much use…) also, the system of getting back onto the grounds is difficult: we rang the doorbell, called the reception (that hung up on us immediately) and then had to wait for the lucky chance of someone leaving the grounds to make it past the gate…only to find the lobby stocked with not one nor two, but FOUR people „working“ there - this is definitely not excusable! Otherwise we enjoyed our stay a lot and found it fitting to our expectations…. Maybe the spa could use some tweaking, to make it worthy of a five or even four star establishment (the hamam reeks and the cold and hot baths are both lukewarm), but the view and nature make up for it.

Unfortunately, our stay was far below expectations. While the property may look stunning on Instagram, the actual service and experience were deeply disappointing. The service was unprofessional from the start. Despite repeatedly informing the staff that we do not speak French, many continued to speak to us in French even after several minutes into conversations. Basic communication in English was a serious issue for many team members, including understanding simple terms like “cutlery.” In a hotel of this caliber, that is simply unacceptable. Housekeeping was superficial at best. The same clumps of dust remained under our desk for the entire stay, indicating that cleaning was done just to tick a box. Towels were replaced, but nothing more. The minibar was never restocked unless we called reception daily just to ask for water. And the fact that there was no complimentary water provided each day in the room is honestly a bad joke for a hotel in this category. The gym was in terrible condition dirty, poorly maintained, and under-equipped. It was frankly unpleasant to even consider using it. The worst part: we were bitten by bed bugs in our room both myself and my young child. This is completely inexcusable and raises serious health and hygiene concerns. This is one of those places that photographs well online but fails to deliver even the basics of guest comfort or proper hospitality. A serious rethink of standards and service is urgently needed.

This place is incredible. A spectacular building, so beautiful. I'm still dreaming about my stay here. It is one of the best places I've visited.

Yelp
What a wonderful hotel! It is an old abbey in the middle of the forest in Rambouillet. When I visited last year I was attending a very serious and highly charged executive committee meeting for work. Inside the meeting room things were quite tense but outside the snow came down and when we retired to the common areas with their huge fires and the dining room with the wonderful food, all of the tension melted away. It was a perfect picture postcard scene with the cold and snow outside and a roaring fire in the lounge. The only downside would be that if you have a bedroom anywhere near the large fireplaces, your room and clothing stored there will smell of smoke.
