"You wouldn’t expect to find a great dive bar this close to Lincoln Road. Come at 5:30pm to watch local news on mute while nodding along to Tom Petty. On football Sundays, there are free hot dogs hanging out in a Crock-Pot." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo
"The Abbey has these little wooden booths. They fit two people comfortably and position you at the correct angle to get to know each other. The South Beach classic also has darts, pool, an overwhelmingly large beer selection, and a stuck-in-time interior that’ll make you forget social media exists. It’s easy to be present and have a flowing conversation facilitated by IPAs and clacking cue balls." - ryan pfeffer
"The Abbey isn’t a first date spot for everyone. It’s on the dive bar end of the spectrum—although not at the extreme end. But if your date appreciates an old school bar with lots of charm, then go for it. Despite being just off Lincoln Road, The Abbey feels like a local’s spot. The staff is friendly, they have darts and pool, and you can sit in these adorable little mini booths perfect for couples. The Abbey feels more vaguely European than South Beach, and could make for a delightful change of pace if you’ve spent the last seven first-dates at Lagniappe." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino
"The Abbey is a charming little divey pub in South Beach that has lots of beer, a full liquor bar, and is really the only place you want to be drinking on or near Lincoln Road. Abbey is our favorite place to grab a beer and play darts if we’re in the area and need to hide from capitalism (or just wait for traffic to die down). The beer selection is great too—way beyond a few simple domestic options." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino
"The Abbey is an appropriate place to go on long, melodramatic tirades about what Miami rent prices looked like in 2013. Even though you can’t smoke inside anymore (don’t even get you started on that), it’s the kind of dark, divey drinking establishment South Beach used to be full of. You can’t recapture the past, but you can squeeze into a comically small booth with a beer and your bitterness. Fun fact, the Abbey turns 30 in 2025. Soon you’ll have that in common, too." - ryan pfeffer
