Abbott Claim

We visited Abbott Claim in October on a wine tasting tour of the valley. The experience was truly exceptional from the moment we were greeted to the lovely espresso as we left. The property, winery architecture, and aging/tasting cave are spectacular, oozing class, sophistication, and quality. And those impressions given by the physical structures carry over into the wine. Sublime pinot with great complexity. Truly some of the best we have tasted. And what pulls it all together are the staff, who all truly understand what hospitality is. Our host, Ian, was welcoming, professional, and knowledgeable, and delivered a tremendous experience. On our next trip to the valley, we will pay Abbott Claim another visit!

Very special vineyard! From the moment you arrive you are immersed in the vineyard experience. We were greeted outside and immediately strolled through the operation. Then we entered the cave for a unique tasting experience. The host brought us the most delicious wine and prepared bites table side! All while we snuggled in Pendleton throws!! Don’t miss this one!

A great cave tour and wine tasting experience! It’s a unique visit compared to the usual lawn and patio tastings. The experience in their underground space was very fun and intimate. It’s a great visit for a group or a couple’s tour.

The wine tasting experience in the wine cave was truly remarkable. The pairing of fine wine with outstanding architecture was impressive. We enjoyed the cozy ambiance under candlelight and the intimate setting. Additionally, Bradley, our expert wine guide, shared his extensive knowledge of the vineyard's history and winemaker. The finale featuring luxurious caviar was a delightful conclusion!

One of our favorite experience's! This is an intimate space to enjoy beautiful wines and learn about the history of the vineyard and wines. They finish the experience off with caviar, which is always a hit with our group and very tasty! Highly recommend if you are looking for a unique experience and interested in learning about the creation of their wines.

A very welcoming and relaxed visit, from when we stepped out of the car through the entire tasting. Beautiful walk through the area where wines are fermented, and the tasting in the underground cave amongst the barrels was fantastic. Oh and the wines are incredible

Abbott Claim and the cave tasting was such a pleasant experience with Vince guiding our tasting and sharing his knowledge of the wines. The caviar bite was unexpected and appreciated. We will enjoy Abbott Claim over the holidays.

This is Oregon wine countries best kept secret!! The outside is built from a TON of gorgeous wood, and one can only guess how much that cost with what wood prices are now - but it's still under-stated. Then you enter the building and go into the tunnel (a wine cave)...and is that ever beautiful! The wines were lovely but what stood out is the caviar we were treated to. Well, me; my friend is a vegan so they gave him tofu. I had never had caviar and was always a bit reluctant - but with the beautiful wines, I knew I had to try it. I definitely felt spoiled and want others to know about this gem!

When in Oregon's Willamette Valley, I want the wineries I visit to offer an authentic local experience. That was not the case at Abbott Claim. On our arrival, we were offered a glass of sparkling wine. I assumed this would be our first taste of an Abbott Claim wine, but no, it was from South Africa. Late in our tasting we were given a tasty morsel and again I expected some beautiful local Oregon fare. Wrong again - it was caviar from the Caspian Sea. In advertising there is a term for this - borrowed interest. I imagine those decisions were made to elevate the Abbott Claim wine tasting experience, to make it stand out from the competition. And stand out it did, though not in the way they intended. I found the entire experience off-putting and pretentious and the wines did not live up to the hype and inflated pricing. Thankfully, our group of six visited five other Willamette Valley wineries over three days and they did not disappoint.

Beautiful facility for cave tasting, outstanding wines, a relaxed vibe with great staff. One of the very best experiences we've had in the area. A bit off the beaten path, seek them out. You won't be disappointed.

I couldn't say enough positive things about our experience! First, the tasting room is beautiful. It gives a cave like feel and provides high end bites to partner each tasting. Our guide was personable and knowledgeable about the vineyard and enhanced our experience. The tasting is pricy but it is 100% worth it!!

We had a fantastic visit! We are Industry folks who got together to enjoy some wine. We were offered elevated service and care even so. Our server was Micheal was just so well informed about everything and very courteous to our group. Because of the experience we had with him and how beautiful the wine/winery is, we will definitely be returning. Not only returning but we also will spread the word of how amazing this place is! This winery offered one of the best wine tours we've ever encountered! We were greeted in the most unique outdoor winery set up that truly felt part of nature. Once we saw the production space, we were led in to what can only be described as the "Cave of Wonders"...beautifully set tables for tasting, candelabras to enhance the experience, and warm blankets at every turn to stay warm while tasting in the cellar. Bri paired some wonderful cheeses and herbs with our wines to make it next level. The real stand out was the wine. Truly delicious - made every other winery we visited pale in comparison.

Abbott Claim is a newer winery in the area! It's architecture, wine and wine cave is amazing and definitely worth a visit! Abbott Claim is named after John F. Abbott, who pioneered to Oregon over 170 years ago and settled on the land where the winery and vineyards now sit. The label on the wine bottles is a sketch of Abbott's original land claim. The architecture of the winery is amazing! The main winery building is made of wood and it's curves were built to represent the curvature of the earth. The winery also has a cement cave in the shape of a semicircle and it's absolutely stunning. We had our tasting in the wine cave and it was a fantastic setting and a change of pace from the other wineries in the area. Chris led us through the tasting of 2 types of Chardonnay and 3 types of Pinot Noirs. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. During the tasting, Chris made a delicious snack with brioche, caviar and cured egg yolk. It was my first time having caviar, but it was delicious. The five wines we tasted were from 2018 and need to be lied down for a few years, but they were great! I'd be very curious to try them after they've aged for a few more years. If you haven't been to Abbott Claim, it's definitely worth a visit! Be sure to call ahead as you'll need a reservation to visit and taste at Abbott Claim!
