Abisko National Park is a breathtaking wilderness in Swedish Lapland, offering prime hiking trails, stunning northern lights views, and a quaint visitor center.
"Many people don’t realize just how big Sweden is. It has a population of less than 10 million, but it is a huge land, the third largest Western European country after France and Spain. As a result, Sweden does wilderness on a grand, majestic scale. Abisko National Park, in Swedish Lapland close to the border with Norway , is popular with hikers and with people who want to see the northern lights as it has so little light pollution obscuring the view of the stars and the sky. It even offers courses in how to photograph the aurora borealis, to ensure your holiday snaps impress."
Very cool place went to ice fest at Fjellkysten’s guesthouse and went here for a detour before heading north. Cool Sami exhibit delicious burger and climbing in the canyon made for an amazing time.

Beautiful park offering 5 walking trails. A perfect spot to view the northern lights.
There's a tourist information center including a small restaurant next to the park's starting point.

Nice place in Sweden to get some mountain time. Small little town. Great for peace and northern lights. Definitely explore the hiking trails.

Incredibly beautiful, lots of hiking for many different skill levels. A great chance to see the northern lights too! We saw lots of wildlife, including a family of moose.

If you visit the park in September you'll be rewarded with a palette of vibrant, awe-inspiring colours. When hiking through the valley, the views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular.

Have been here twice so far, it’s a really beautiful place both for hiking from hut to hut but also for those travelling with Interrail tickets and just a tent. Outside of the national Park there are some spots to sleep in the wild legally, but the long walks are not great with really heavy luggage. We especially recommend the 1-2 hour hike up the waterfall which you can see from the naturum. There is a store with a few necessities close to the Naturum, a bigger and cheaper store is the godisfabrik a bit further.

Very beautifully planned trails for hiking. Once you visit the STF tourist center reception they explain the route with a detailed map and markers for the different trails and viewpoints. And best part are the markers along the way inside the forest too. Well maintained and beautiful! I went in February so it was mostly snow but the frozen canyons and waterfall with some running streams was breathtaking to see. If you are at Abisko you should visit here.
