Abli - Review - Cebu City - Cebu - The Infatuation

"Abli is a casual café-restaurant serving modern Cebuano food with a sense of humor, turning local dishes and references into sandwiches, pastas, pastries, and cocktails that are far better than the punchlines suggest. The Morta (a Cebuano portmanteau that translates to “like a torta”), a cheeky take on northern Argao sponge cake, retains the original recipe’s bounce and slight sweetness while adding flavor through various toppings like mascarpone, and the chicken soup-inspired cocktail is exactly what you’d want in flu season if flu season involved gin. Dessert jumps toseisleches, because tres just isn’t enough, and the undecided should order the Hmmmmba, or braised pork doused in extra-spicy sauce. People walk in to cool off after a Saturday afternoon at the nearby weekend markets, and with no reservations required, it feels like dropping by a friend’s family home for a quick bite." - Chandra Joshua

This small cafe specializes in Filipino food with a creative twist. I loved their Morta (their take on torta de Cebu) topped with whipped cream and yema bits. Their savory dishes were sophisticatedly plated and photogenic, however, fell short of my expectations in terms of flavor and texture. The Crispy Cebu Express had a rich and spicy sauce, but the pork belly slices were not crispy enough and had too much fat. The Pasta Chorizo Olio was on the sweet side and didn’t have depth of flavor. One of the better dishes we had was the Butter Inun-unan. Customer service was excellent at the restaurant itself, but there’s room to improve with their reservation system. The waiters were friendly and attentive. However, it was difficult to get in touch with the cafe for reservations as no one was picking up for a long time when we ringed the contact numbers listed here and on their Facebook page.

The food were great. Although, I suggest that the level of spiciness be reduced for the hmmmba and bicol express as I think customers with low tolerance for spicy food will not be able to enjoy it as much. The ginabot was spectacular. I don't normally eat ginabot but theirs is made with glaze which elevated this street food. Very good morta. I don't suggest eating here when you're super hungry as portions may not be enough, though it can be for sharing when you're with a group. Just order a couple more dishes. The prices of the food is reasonable and worth it. The indoor dining space is quite small, only sits a few people (>20?) but they have tables outside as well. However it could get hot during lunch time. No dedicated parking space.

Just had an awesome dinner at Abli in Cebu City—def worth the trip if you're craving elevated Cebuano vibes! Started with drinks: the Kuan was , super refreshing and unique. The Tinolang Vodka though, basically just fancy calamansi juice. Wanted the Salted Egg Chicken Skin (sold out ) so went with Ginabot Sa Abli instead. Sweet glaze wasn't our jam. Mains: Crispy Cebu Express was solid but nothing crazy, tom yum-ish sauce was ok. BUT the Hmmmmmba? GAME CHANGER. Presentation is and flavors pop—soft-boiled egg was perfection. Only nitpick: bigger pork chunks were a tad tough. Smaller, uniform slices would make it next-level. Ended with Original Queso De Bola Morta for dessert—SO yummy, cheesy heaven in every bite. Overall 4.5/5—come for the Hmmmmmba and stay for the local twists!

I had a great experience at Abli Cebu, especially with their Morta. It was soft, flavorful, and beautifully presented The ambiance of the place is warm and relaxing, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I also tried their palabok, and it was excellent: rich, well-balanced sauce with tasty toppings, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Overall, Abli Cebu offers excellent food and a 10/10 staff I would definitely recommend it and would love to come back again.

While exploring the vibrant Capitol area, we stumbled upon Abli, a modern Filipino café that dares to reimagine the flavors we grew up with. The creativity is undeniable — their “morta” (murag torta) is a playful twist on the beloved Cebuano torta, layered with yema and topped with indulgent sweetness that makes every bite feel nostalgic yet new. Located right across from the heritage favorite STK ta Bai, Abli stands out with its sleek interiors and warm, VIP-style service. The staff truly knows how to make guests feel special — attentive, courteous, and efficient. But here’s where the charm falters: the prices. The food may be delicious, but it comes at a jaw-dropping cost. ₱150 for a torta, ₱520 for palabok without an egg, and ₱90 for a single empanada — it’s gourmet pricing that makes you pause mid-bite to check if there’s gold sprinkled somewhere. Still, if you’re in for a culinary adventure that gives Filipino comfort food a luxurious spin — and you don’t mind paying the premium — Abli is worth a visit. But for everyday indulgence? Let’s just say it’s a treat best reserved for special occasions… or when your wallet feels generous.

Great experience eating here. I tried several dishes and all were made perfect. The freshness in the ingredients is made evident and the way every dish is put together is definitely worth a visit. Hope to visit again soon and try out some more dishes.

Instagrammable place! Good place for dessert and coffee. Tried the Buko pie coffee, it was good! I went here after the typhoon Tino. They were not fully operational but the service was great. I dont suggest eating lunch here. Pricey and small quantity of food. The cebu express was also very spicy and the staff didn't warn me. Did not enjoy it. 😅 I love the Morta Yema. The best 💯💯💯

Got their classic and yema mortas, three in one cold brew, and their bibingka inspired coffee drink! Delicious and can fill you up even as a snack! Staff were friendly and accommodating as well.
