Yelp
I rarely write reviews unless I need to, and I feel like this place needs to change. Obviously About Time has had a change in its quality, in its service, and in its actual space.
For starters, I understand it's important to have a valet service for restaurants in this area. Otherwise, people would just park and walk to other places, but their "valet" is less of a service and more of a ticket type of thing where they don't handle your car, you just really pay to park and some guys give you a ticket. However, for today there wasn't any valet and the parking lot was noticeably more packed, yet not a lot of people were inside.
Besides the need for a valet, the inside, the service, and the drinks all feel like they're riding out their fame from the Korean cafe hype and only have old word of mouth keeping it alive. I will give credit, it's open later than most places, but for reasons I'll go into, it's not worth it unless some changes are made.
The baristas were kinda just standing there twiddling their thumbs when we walked in, the wifi is always horribly slow and has crazy restrictions on specific websites, and some that don't even make sense! Sites like archive.org where some students could use a site like that for their homework, or the casual person could just want to watch their show and strangely Hulu is restricted; but for some reason Disney+ isn't? Have some consistency!
And finally, the most critical part is their drinks. $8 drinks in LA are common, but this just feels wrong. Many people have commented on their quality of drinks taking a hit, and while I wasn't there during their "prime", any average joe could tell their drinks aren't worth the 8 dollars. Premade matcha? Overly sweet Ube Einspanner? Texture inconsistencies? Water-down beverages? This place is more inconsistent with their drinks more than ShareTea.
Their cakes are good though. 12 bucks is insane.
