I like trying Tom Kah soups of Thai restaurants to understand their seasoning. Overall, their seasoning is fine, just think they might overdo a couple of things. My dishes were fine but not fantastic. It is a solid spot if you are in the area. Service was fast and friendly, prices were reasonable. I wanted a hot tea and even though they didn't have the one I wanted they hooked me up with a nicer one!

I ordered one Tom yam Soup with Shrimp $9 & Fried rice with seafood $20. Fried rice was delicious but I don’t like the soup that much. It was not thick. The texture was like a clear soup.

Good food. Even better drinks! We loved the lychee mixed drink and the purple one my friend had was not bad either. The appetizers we had were absolutely wonderful! The entrees were good. The service we had was kinda weird, but once the guy started helping us service was better.

Hidden gem within DC that's not well-known but serves delicious and authentic Thai food with perfect portions and incredibly kind staff. The space is cozy with some great options. Their Pad Thai has a little bit of a crispy flavor that other places are lacking and this was a highlight of the meal. Their Massaman Curry is full of flavor and their Eggplant Tofu was also delicious. Their fried banana and ice cream was not what I'm used to, as their fried bananas came in thin tubes, but the food still tasted good. Only downside is that they have disposable chopsticks and cups for water.

Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior, this restaurant packs a punch. The drunken noodles were fantastic.⭐ 5 ⭐ I chose the vegetable option and they were delicious. Silky smooth noodles in a savory sauce with an excellent bite. Fresh, crisp vegetables in the dish as well. The menu gives a 2 🌶️🌶️ spice warning but it wasn't very hot. Good sized portions, fills 1 American / 2 other nationalities. My party enjoyed their Pork pad Thai, Chicken Tom Kai Gai, and Flaming Beef as well. Service was excellent, prompt staff, with modest wait times. The atmosphere/decor won't win awards, but who cares, you're there for the food anyways, right? 😉

I recently dined at Absolute Thai Restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. The Thai cuisine was authentic and bursting with flavors. The service was efficient and courteous. I highly recommend trying their chicken wings and red curry. I will definitely be returning for more Thai culinary delights. 👌🍛🥢

The food here was excellent - wanted to try something new so started with the yum woonsen talay appetizer which was a cold seafood salad with cellophane noodles. It did not disappoint! I recommend that if you want to try a new appetizer. It’s not too heavy either so perfect to save your appetite. For my entree, I got the Massaman yellow curry with tofu and it was a good portion, comes with plenty of jasmine rice. My friend was raving about the salmon. The Thai tea and Thai coffee are also good here. The service was quick, friendly, and helpful. I was surprised at how few people were there during lunchtime.

Great little place. Portions are more than enough to eat family style or alone. Delicious pad Thai and all the usual traditional dishes.

Service was great but the food was just so-so. I hate to compare it with another Thai restaurant, but my friend and I chose this place since they had similar appetizers and wanted a local Thai place. We ordered the Fried Tofu, Curry Puff and Chicken Wontons and were pretty let down across the board. The Tofu was just fried - so no batter to keep the tofu soft and silky. The Curry Puff just had potatoes and curry and not a lot of texture. The Chicken Wontons only had chicken - we couldn't taste any spices or sauce and it was shredded chicken - not minced/ground so they were a little chewy. I do recommend the Panang Curry - plenty of carrot and steamed broccoli, swimming in a delicious peanut curry sauce Their Thai Iced tea wasn't as sweet as I expect but still had a great creamy flavor.

We ate here mid afternoon and it was a pleasant surprise. We ordered satay chicken, glass noodles with tofu and shrimp and Thai iced coffee. Service was excellent and it was a quite enjoyable meal. They were able to accommodate my need for gluten friendly options. Very comfortable restaurant

Came to this lovely Thai restaurant for an early dinner and enjoyed their flavors! Started off with the larb gai as an appetizer and, wow, it was so spicy. Beware if you are not able to handle heat. I had to order a Thai iced tea, which was delicious, to extinguish the spice fire. I also ordered the Kao Soi and I loved how they garnished the top with a pickled vegetable -- it was good! The service was great as our waitress came to check in if we needed anything. Seating is primarily indoors.

This unassuming corner Thai restaurant has delicious Penang Curry bursting with flavor with a mild spicy kick! The curry hit the spot and the fried tofu was a little stiff, but not too tough. Will get veggies next time! Skip the Pad See Ew, the noodles were disgustingly greasy and after 1 bite, I threw in the towel. The restaurant kindly comped me for them. Will come back for the Penang Curry!

I would have given them a 4 or 5 but our food was not even edible for being extremely hot! We told them medium and this must have been an error because the food was beyond hot! My girlfriend couldn't even eat it. It was so dam hot! Lol Food: the Thai fried rice was so dam good but got dam we ordered medium and like I said earlier it was extremely hot and not edible for my gf. I was able to eat it but it was so hot i felt sick after lol. It was insanely hot. I could only imagine this was an error and they gave us Thai hot. The flavor was dam good though. The tiger cry beef appetizer was so dam good. I would definitely come back and try more food but I would be sure to make sure they understand that we cannot have Thai hot again! Do yourself a favor and give them a try! We will definitely come back soon.

Ordered pad Thai with veggies and tofu for delivery. It was edible (always a win) but lackluster. Veggies were few in number. Tofu was fried, tasteless, and a little oily for me; I left it unfinished. I also didn't get chopsticks, despite my request! Can't speak to service and ambiance, since it was delivered via Grubhub. But I won't be back.

Stopped by for lunch and it was a yummy experience! We were seated quickly and our order came put fast! We ordered the chicken fried rice, chicken pad thai, and thai iced teas. The portions were generous and tasty. Check out this cozy restaurant!

Our experience at Absolute Thai for the first time was good. The staff was friendly and responsive. We had ordered Pad Thai, green curry, and Pad Prik Khing. Everything was good especially green curry was my favorite. My bf had spicy beef dish and he liked it. The portion size were generous, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food. Overall, a great place to get authentic and delicious Thai cuisine in DC.

I came back here twice when visiting DC on a work trip. I wish I could have the seafood glass noodle salad right now! This is a moderately priced spot, with cozy nook seating. The service was attentive and food came out quickly and fresh. Street parking and right across the street from the arena. Stopped here for a late lunch. Great service - efficient and friendly. My red curry had a fantastic balance of heat and sweetness. Restaurant is also very inviting and clean inside. Hidden gem of the city.

This is a good quality Thai restaurant. We shared the red curry chicken and the crispy fried fish. The fish was really the star of the show with tasty meat to be eaten around the bones. The curry was just okay, but not bad. The ambience is okay and the service was fine.

Pad see ew with shrimp takeout The container must've been 3 pounds- impressive amount of food for the price. Decent but lacked a bit of flavor so I added a bit of garlic powder and salt and it was perfect, satisfied the craving! Very oily though, as you should expect with takeout

We were going to the building museum and when looking for a nearby place to eat, stumbled upon Absolute Thai. Its tucked into a corner near the Verizon Center and has a little bit of an odd layout being long and narrow, with a few different level changes. But there was plenty of seating for us. Service was friendly and surprisingly fast with the food orders. The food itself was actually quite good. I had the basil fried rice, and it was one of the better versions of that dish I have eaten in the area- a good portion size, lots of fresh vegetables and just the right amount of heat for my tastes. I would definitely come back to try some other dishes.

This was a nice stop in DC. Mist of the nearby restaurants were full so we stopped here. The service was excellent and the food well prepared. The green curry was one of the better versions that I have had and the fried tofu perfect. This place was worth the visit.

Place is well situated on a busy street. As you enter becareful with the fromt door so that it does not hit your ankles. Service was good and amicably. Food was tasty and had a delicate flavor, however some of the dishes were missing the Thai ingredients that give its tauthentic taste. The ambience was good and you felt at home. Prices were good and there was a good selection. Bathrooms were very well kept. Draw backs were the continous check to make sure refills or if there was anything else to order since we started with a small order. Also the missing ingredients on some of the dishes. Overall a good place to go if in the Chinatown area of DC...

This used to be my favorite Thai restaurant in DC, but something changed. And then, I found a dead bug in my order, and that was the end of our relationship...

We love this place. The dumplings were outstanding and an automatic when we arrive. I'm not sure if it's family owned, but I get that vibe. The waiters are very friendly and willing to explain what they offer. We will definitely be back, because there are more dishes I want to try!

Family trip to DC & came upon this place. So glad that we did. The coconut curry was so DELICIOUS! The Pad Thai was my favorite! The food was prepared quickly! We will be back the next time I return. Give this place a try!

The food was adequate but really unimpressive. Service was indifferent. The space was loud and chilly on a cold day. I wouldn't return; there are lots of better places in and near DC's Chinatown.

I have passed by this restaurant until today when I had to be at work at the Capital One Arena at 6 pm. That I decided to stop in to get a bite to eat. I ate the green won ton soup which was hot, flavorful as well as tasty and delicious. Next, I had a house salad comprising romanie,spinach topped off with shredded carrots and Bermuda onions as well as green onions which made it a delightful fresh green salad. I am confident that the entrees along sides, desserts and drinks are superb as well. I will highly recommend and visit the restaurant absolutely!

Unfortunately, I which I can continue to maintain the same good review about this take-out restaurant, however my most recent order today August 18, 2022 was not that good "specifically with the Crispy Chicken Wings with the Chef's special sauce" which tasted like the chicken wings from 7/11 corner store...and the sauce tasted like the regular sweet and sour source that you can purchase from the grocery store; Additionally, I got my standard Nua Sawan and Yum Woonsen Talay, and the quality of both dishes are dwindling: the Nua Sawan sizzling beef portion is getting smaller and the Yum Woonsen Talay came with only 2 shrimps and packed with white lettuce...however both dishes still maintained its tastiness although the Yum Woonsen Talay fish smell and taste is extreme. Last but not least, they no longer provide utensils which they usually place inside the plastic bag along with the take-out food, and that they tie up ever so tightly.

Food is really really good. My girlfriend and I whenever we come to DC for the caps games we always stop to eat here before each game. On rare occasions we'd even drive down all the way from even VA to get lunch and it's always treated us good. The Pad Thai and the Drunken noodles are usually our go to order if we ever get appetizers we always get the wontons which are really good in their sauce that comes with it. Recently we tried their "Curry Puff" which comes with these 3 curry pastry dough things which I really enjoyed with this side of cucumber, onion sauce which made it even better. Kate is a very nice and good server as well as the other 2 gentlemen I always get, I can't remember their names but everyone who works there has always taken care of my girlfriend. They're always hard working a providing the best quality. I take terrible photos but those drunken noodles are the best I've had in the DMV area and if I can find a photo of the pad Thai I'll add it as well but that's another item thats best I've had in the DMV area as well.

Amazing!! If I could take this restaurant back home with me I 100% would. The waiters were so kind and generous. And the FOOD!! So so great I was very satisfied :))

We have not randomly picked a restaurant since covid,but we were picking up our race packets and the National Building Museum and this place was in walking distance. For a Friday eve it was busy but we were able to get a seat right away. Spring rolls were good and we both got pad Thai which was super tasty and a large portion. Prices are reasonable. Was a pleasant surprise.

So Absolute Thai was the second Thai place I tried when I first moved to DC. I didn't really enjoy it the first time and thought I would not have come back because I had better Thai food elsewhere. But I was offered a 20% off coupon through GrubHub and decided to try the place again. And I am glad I did, I had a better experience the second time around. Since coming back, I have already ordered twice! Each time I have gotten curry puffs, massaman curry, and Thai iced tea. This is most definitely deserving of a 4/5 star rating. I guess their fried rice dish is not that good but the curries are. Will come back! :)

A Thai restaurant that can bring the heat! I loved my drunken noodles with peppers, jalapeños, and great seasoning. This is a solid check for Thai food. Friendly service too. I can't wait to come back and try the curry!

This food was amazing!! The staff was so kind and even made an item for us off the lunch menu at dinner. We got beef Pad Thai and Tom Yum Gai Sub, which was that soup normally served at lunch. This meal was the best I've had in DC. We are already planning on coming back soon. We got two drinks and they were also amazing! You couldn't taste the alcohol but you sure could feel it - which made it even better.

We were there New Year's Day so it was only moderately busy for dinner. We got 3 orders of massaman curry with chicken and pad see ew with beef. It was good, but not great. Small portion of rice which always is a bit of a problem for me because I like a good ratio of rice to curry. There are many places because you are near Chinatown, I would recommend this as a safe choice, but there is probably better out there. Nice vibe inside.

Spicy Crispy Chicken used to be my favorite but it seems that they changed it. Now, it's just very crispy dough and barely any chicken inside. It's a terrible dish now.

We ordered drunken noodles and basil fried rice. Food overall was bland and very unimpressive. The noodles were really mushy and seemed over cooked, while the vegetables were barely steamed and lacked any flavor. The rice was mushy and sticky, and the flavor was off.

This place is really a hidden gem IMO. I came here for lunch to-go and got the pad thai and drunken noodles, and the amount of food you get for the price is pretty good! The food was really good, some of the best pad thai i've tried. I wish it was a bit spicier but I can't knock them for something like that. The spot is a bit small but very cozy. The staff were also all extremely nice and welcomed me as soon as I walked in. Overall 10/10 experience for me.

I usually avoid places that have too many styles of food--same reason I have never ordered a burger from a Mexican restaurant. But Absolute Thai does all things well! Thai, sushi, curry, drinks, low prices, friendly service! We were in DC for ten days and I went there 6 times...loved it!

Came here by default our regular place was closed for an hour and seen it a few times. We ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp, spring rolls, Tom yum soup, Chinese broccoli and basil chicken. By far the worst Thai food I've had in DC. The basil chicken has a watery soupy sauce with zero flavor, soup was not seasoned, Chinese broccoli was mainly other vegetables and over cooked veggies. The spring rolls were Decent and the drunken noodles were tasty but not the best I have had and that's why I gave them a 2. Also their staff was nice but unfortunately the food wasn't good enough to come back for good service. Total was $70

Absolute Thai Restaurant on G Street in DC is a great option for delicious Thai food. I really like the location and atmosphere that they have available here. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have a really good experience.

Cute little shop on the corner. Thai food was pretty decent. Didn't necessarily hit the flavor that I was looking for but they have a great variety of dishes. Great for a quick bite to eat.

This is honestly my one of my favorite Thai places in the DMV area, whenever my friends and I go to DC I always want to go to Absolute Thai. The portion sizes are decent and each dish is full of flavor. There is a variety of options on the menu and the staff is really friendly. We are always greeted immediately. The place is small but there is outdoor seating if the weather is nice. They have a very nice bathroom. My favorite part of this meal was the soup, because it was the right mix of tangy from the lemongrass and creamy from the coconut milk. Their lunch specials are really good for their prices as well. If you are in the area and are craving some good affordable Thai food, this is definitely the place for it.

Location is great, right across from Capital One Arena. Service is fine. Was seated immediately on a slow summer Sunday afternoon, table for 4. We could choose indoor or outdoor seating. Food (Potpourri Shrimp and Crispy Flounder) was bland and not very flavorful. Price was ok ($16-22 dishes). Would not recommend.

My favorite Thai place in the Chinatown area in DC, their service is pretty good and the staff are really friendly and thorough with the suggestions And customization of dishes. I love the variety of vegan and vegetarian options and I like how every dish can be customized to the customers liking. I highly recommend trying the curry puffs some thing out of this world and to die for.

The Chicken Kapro I ordered for lunch had low-quality, gray-ish, rubbery chicken, and while it had plenty of spice, it seems like they used heat to cover up the lack of flavor. I certainly don't recommend it...This is a minor thing compared to low-quality food, but my takeout order was 20 minutes late...and during a work day that's not what I hope for when I pay $20 for a single lunch-time dish. The restaurant itself is falling apart. The entryway is filthy, the lower half of the exterior doors are kicked out, and the overall interior is pretty dingy. There are several other Thai restaurants in the area that serve much tastier food for the same price and that aren't falling apart.

My second time here. Food is better than I remembered. Savory. Spicy. So worth it. Ordered take out and in spite of the crowd, got our food fast.

We got takeout from them on Grubhub. We got the fried tofu, spring rolls, fried rice with vegetables, and drunken noodles with vegetables. Everything was great, good taste but something did not hit it out of the park but I'm not sure what it was. The drunken noodles were perfectly spicy, and had the basil that you can taste. Would go again

Food was delicious. I ordered the spicy basil fried rice with fried tofu. Came hot and ready! The portion sizes were really great too. I was able to take home my leftovers and eat the rest for lunch the following day. Really worth my money. Staff were really nice and helpful. Vegan/ Vegetarian friendly. Will be my go to restaurant when I'm in the area.

I was surprised at the previous ratings, this restaurant is not much to look at maybe. We were also skeptical upon sitting down to see the prices for a main dish st $18, $20 and $24, but did not leave since were already seated. But what a surprise, the food were big portions and really tasty... worth it!!! A hole in a wall, worth of a visit when you are around Washington DC like us. Great Thai food!
