We got chicken shawarma take out. Loved that it was served cut out into smaller pieces making it so easy to eat on the go - with the sauces also property secured inside their to-go box. Very thoughtful and much appreciated. The food was delicious, will come back!

Food portions are great, we love the rice bowls. the guys behind the counter are also super sweet, welcoming and kind, we keep coming back for them too. They were very sweet to my mom who was feeling cold, turning the air conditioning down for her. Will definitely keep returning for the excellent service and great food!

Had a great experience at Abu Omar! I had accidentally received the wrong order from a food delivery app, but the staff were extremely friendly and understanding at abu omar. They quickly fixed the issue and gave me what I originally ordered without charging anything extra. Really appreciated their customer service and how well they treated me. Will definitely be coming back!

I honestly can’t get enough of their chicken shawarma! I’ve been ordering regularly, and every time it hits the spot—super juicy, perfectly spiced, and always fresh. The consistency in quality keeps me coming back, and the flavor never gets old. Hands down one of the best shawarma spots around!

We were traveling to HTX for the rodeo (not from here) but wanted to get a different style of food for dinner before getting back on the road to head back home. We found this gem & let me tell you…it did not disappoint! My husband and I both ordered the gyro as protein & arabi for the meal. Plentiful! I’m a big fry girl and I actually had to leave a few behind because of how full I got! That is RARE for me lol. But super delicious, sauces are great! (Ask for their spicy creamy one) and great service. We’re patient and willing to answer any questions we may have had. We will make this a spot to stop if we ever find ourselves in Houston!

I have been a loyal customer at this location for over five years, consistently enjoying the quality of the food. However, I’ve observed a steady decline in customer service over time. While the manager and Noor continue to be courteous and professional, the behavior and attitude of the rest of the staff have become increasingly disappointing. Last night, I placed an order and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. After waiting in my car for 20 minutes, I returned inside only to be told the order was just being started. Due to the delay and lack of professionalism, I requested a refund and went to another location. Although the food remains excellent, the service—excluding the manager and Noor—has become unacceptable. Unless no other options are available, I will no longer be visiting this location.

A product of Houston, Abu Omar Halal has blossomed from a popular food truck to a multi-location brand all across the South and West Coast. My penchant for late night food led me to their Med Center spot, where I impulsively ordered most of their menu. It may have cost me a good chunk of change (#1), but the biggest loser was my expectations. Situated on the corner of Almeda and Hepburn, Abu Omar Halal shares the building with the Exxon gas convenience store. Despite being a fixture in the neighborhood, the signage looks fresh and updated. Just below the sign were a couple of their food trucks, thought they ee new and updated and directly beneath is are a couple of their food trucks that weren't in operation. The format is pretty simple: Choose a protein (chicken / beef shawarma, lamb gyro, chicken zinger (aka fried chicken), or falafel and then choose a meal option where it can be anything from a simple sandwich / quesadilla to something more fast casual like a rice or salad bowl. The arabi is a fan fave, which is a series of meats in roll form that is cut up and accompanied by a bed of fries and a pickled cucumbers. There is a double version which two wraps can be combined in the same box for a cool $23. The hummus ($5), kibbeh ($3), fried cauliflower ($5), fries ($5), grape leaves ($5.25) and falafel ($5.50) round out the sides. However, there a number of red flags. Inattentive staff meant there was a wait despite the place being empty. I ended up standing around for a few minutes (#2) while other late night goers waited in their cars while observing an empty kitchen and a few dirty tables. The meats on the spit were sitting idly while looking really dry and there was no one to maintain the spin. The desserts sat inside of a display case with an incredible amount of condensation from how muggy it was. It didn't look particularly appetizing. Eventually someone came and I was able to order a smattering of many things that included a beef arabi ($14.75), chicken shawarma rice bowl ($14.75), lamb gyro loaded fries ($15), a falafel salad bowl ($14.75), an "Italian" shawarma platter ($17), and a chicken shawarma sandwich ($10.75) with a few sides that included the grape leaves, kibbeh, single side of falafel, and hummus. Most of the food was an abomination. The loaded fries was practically a brick since the cheese was microwaved so hard that separating the (overly dry) fries from the solidified cheese was next to impossible. Instead, I picked it up like a funnel cake at a state fair and took bites out of it as a whole. It was not my best look. The falafel was super dry and didn't seem all that fresh. The salad bowl was extremely underwhelming and the rice bowl was unmemorable, save for extra pourings of the sauce. I suppose the arabi and Italian shawarma were the semi-saving grace, as my group of dining companions enjoyed these the most. The kibbe was solid, despite feeling a bit pricey at basically a $1.50 a bite. I'm glad I finally was able to cross this place off my bookmarks and finally got an opportunity to try this beloved chain. While I don't rule out a future return, I think I'll be looking to give the other locations a shot first. _________ (#1) Just a $120+, NBD. Best spot for late night eats! Always reliable and also a great option for delivery. Their packaging is top notch. You can't go wrong with the Lamb Gyro Arabi. The wrap is filled to the brim with the most tender and juicy Gyro meat. It pairs perfectly with the garlic sauce. It even comes with a heaping combo of fries. I always have a great experience here. The staff here is so friendly and nice. I can't wait to be back!

My favorite items to order from Abu Omar Hala is the Chicken Shwarma Arabi and the Fried Cauliflower! I remember when I used to order from here when Abu Omar Halal used to just be a food truck, but it is nice to see that it's now expanded to be a brick and mortar store with seating to eat and wait for orders to take home. I tried the Chicken Shwarma, Beef Shwarma, and Chicken Zinger (fried chicken tenders) Shwarma, and I can say that the Chicken Shwarma is the best choice in my opinion. It pairs very well with the provided garlic sauce, and I love how well seasoned the fries are. The interior is kept clean and organized, and there is a big menu on the wall behind the check-out cashier desk for you to look at before you order with accompanying pictures. The service was helpful with answering any questions. It takes a bit of waiting for the food to come out but they make the food fresh and hot by the time you receive it.

My coworkers and I have ordered Abu Omar a few times for lunch. This particular location is in the Medical Center and the one that delivers to us. I couldn't tell you about the restaurant itself or customer service. They have quite a few food options to choose from. You have sandwiches, wraps, fusion items like shawarma quesadillas and loaded fries, bowls, salads, and desserts. I have only ordered the wraps, specifically the beef shawarma and the brisket shawarma. I will say these are both pretty tasty especially the brisket one. They describe it as 16 hour brisket and I can say the tenderness is there. The smokiness is a little subtle but the flavors are on point. The addition of cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and garlic sauce compliment the meat well and makes for a delicious bite. That being said, I do think the food is a little overpriced for what you get. The wrap looks big but it is not very filling, atleast to me. Overall, Abu Omar is a solid option for a fast casual meal and I think I will keep them in the rotation for now.

I really like their shawarma, it's authentic. However the portions are too small considering the price. On top of that, the service was not always good either. We called to place a to-go order 30 minutes early and when we arrive, they haven't even started preparing our orders. After that time, we just avoid getting shawarma from this place to avoid the hassle.

If you don't come to this place, you're missing out, everything is perfect. Lots of variety, incredible staff, and service, in the place feels like a new age diner, not a waste of time or money.

This was a surprise of how good it was! I got the beef sandwich because I was in a hurry. Clean place and friendly staff. Let me sample the meat. The box for the sandwiches is genius it's a whole year assay situation. Love this place

I've been curious about Abu Omar Halal as I often pass by it on my way home. It's a small, bustling spot with lots of people coming and going. I ordered the chicken shawarma rice bowl, and while I wasn't thrilled that it took about 20-25 minutes to prepare, the wait was somewhat understandable given how busy they were. The bowl itself was a bit pricey, but it came with a generous portion of food. It had rice, chicken, a savory garlic sauce, olives, corn, jalapeños, garbanzo beans, lettuce, and tomatoes. It was a hearty meal that left me full and satisfied. Even though the wait was longer than I'd like, I enjoyed my meal and will definitely be coming back.

I was on the way to work at a nearby clinic and stopped here for lunch. I ordered a falafel wrap with extra tahini sauce. The wrap lacked flavor but I can't pinpoint what it is. There are a few tables to eat at. I'm not familiar with this area but the strip just doesn't seem high rent. I paid $9.47 for the wrap. That's a bit much for fried garbanzo balls inside pita bread. They have baklava on display on individual clear boxes. The restaurant opens until 3 a.m. every day. Now that's impressive!

Purchased two meals today. One gyro wrap and the other beef shawarma. I downloaded the app for ease and use of the 15% discount. The food was fresh and delicious! The restaurant is always clean and inviting and the staff is friendly. For this reason, I always use this location.

Brick and mortar spot right next to a gas station. You can eat here since they have benches but most people take the food to go. They stay open until 3am so they are popular with the delivery apps after hours. Prices are little higher than the competition in the area. The rice platters can be somewhat dry since they don't give you much sauce. The rice itself has good flavour. Otherwise the food here is decent. The garlic white sauce was probably the best part of the meal. I prefer getting the falafel wraps over the falafel rice platter due to the sauce ratio and they only include 5 balls in their platters. Their fries being starchy good is another reason to get the wraps unless you want to go all out with fry platter.

I recently visited Abu Omar Halal and had an amazing experience. The Shawerma was absolutely delicious, and so fresh. The person who took our order offered us a drink from Saudi Arabia. Very attentive and he was engaging with all customers politely going above and beyond to help. Such a clean place. I highly recommend.

This has been one of my favorites since back in the 2000-teens when they were a small food truck in a gas station parking lot a half mile down the road. I was down on my luck then, and their manager helped me out more than once. I'll never forget that kindness. It thrilled me to no end to see that they finally got their brick and mortar store. Its small, and shares the parking lot with a gas station and a food truck. And if you happen to drive by, at just about any hour, you might pass it up due to the crowd. If you do, you're making a huge mistake. The longest I've ever waited for an order is 20 minutes, late at night with a line of folks ahead of me. They're quick. And they're consistent, despite even the largest crowds. Probably owing to the fact that they have a well chosen menu lineup with meat options that are slow roasted to perfection - right there in front of you when you order! - so there's never any issue of needing to keep things warm, its straight from the roaster to your plate. I will say this, slow roasted meat by its nature can tend to be slightly dryer than most of us Americans are used to with our greasy fried foods and whatnot. So ask for extra sauce, to balance that out. Also, be sure to sign up for their rewards program, ask for details when you pay

I think Abu Omar has a crush on me because anytime and every time I order from here, the food is always delicious. Always fresh ingredients. Great price and portions. This spot is definitely a hidden gem! My fav entrees are the shawarma wraps with a side of fries and the shawarma bowl.

I'm gonna start with the fact that I love that this place is open at 3am on a freaking Wednesday! I can be a night owl sometimes and having food options whose name doesn't start or end with the word "burger" is a godsend. I was driving by at about 1am on Thursday and I found this little spot packed out in a gas station parking lot. I was like if people is filing in at this time and a car just busted a U-turn to get in there in front of me I needs to go check it out. The first thing that caught my eye was that the facility was very clean. I'm not sure when this place opened but the seating area looked new. I can't tell you how important a clean kitchen is for my sanity! So cleanliness check. The service was good. The man running the register was very nice and patient. They also were fast considering it was just two people working on orders. Speed check! Now for the food. I would say that the Lamb Kabob sandwich was okay. The meat was a bit tough which was surprise and it didn't have a ton of flavor. I also got some falafel balls because I always like to try that out when I got to any restaurant that serves it. Again I was a bit underwhelmed. The flavor wasn't bad and they were pretty crispy but again it wasn't anything spectacular. I will definitely roll through again but I will greatly depend on if I remember where it is located.

Honestly their prices are high for the amount or quantity food you get. It's a fast food restaurant with a high end price . And their also extremely greedy with the garlic sauce. Not planning on coming back , I can get a better quality sandwich somewhere else

KILLT!!!!!! Thats slag for i killed that falafel sandwich! It was amazing! Never had one wrapped with the thin bread but was delish! Falafel was fresh, so was bread and fixins! This place is beautifully new and clean and the interior is cute and simple. Prices are reasonable and they are opened tIll 4am!!!!!! Just moved to the area and im thinking about good late night food n this is it! Had the pleasure of speaKing and connecting with the biz owner and his partner and i came back to change my review from a 4 star to a 5 star. The conversation we had was mind blowing, beautiful and divinely ordained! WILL be back

His service was on point, however my food wasn't good, salad warm and the beef was cold, also gamey tasting . I don't know if I came at the wrong time or location, but it's a no for me, the 2stars are for the guy/operator (only).

Ordered their lamb kabob plate. Was not flavorful compared to similar plates at other restaurants. Tasted bland, lamb was not well cooked, and they gave minimal sauce. Stick with their shawarmas as that's what they're known for.

They made us wait for an hour in 90 degree heat and the food wasn't even good. The employee was very rude for no reason I just wanted my fries.The truck and equipment was very rusty and old I was even scared to eat my food. Please do better!!!

I had a kebab craving and I was really excited to try this spot. I ordered the chicken kebab over rice through Uber Eats. The photo and description of the dish fired up my taste buds and appetite and I was ready to chow down. Unfortunately I received my order and it was five pieces of chicken, a grilled tomato and a grilled onion over rice. Where's the rest I asked myself. So after searching through my bag again and realizing that the dish was not as advertised I felt a sense of being short changed on my meal. The chicken was delicious but unfortunately I did not receive all the fixins that it was supposed to come with . So my hunt for kebabs shall continue.

My favorite halal spot in the medical center! Fast service , fresh food. You must try the chicken zinger Arabi. Everything is good even the Italian breaded sandwiches they offer. Good fries and some type of creamy sauce that's for dipping taste great I'm always returning !

Food was bland. Gyro sandwich had super thick slices of meat and it did not come served on pita bread. Also the hummus... jut terrible, find better hummus as local grocery store

At the office, we were looking for a new and closer place for yummy Mediterranean foods. Since i live down the sidewalk, I suggested this place bcz I've passed by many times when it was just a food truck. OMG!! I'm upset i didn't stop in sooner bcz the food was pretty darn yummy!! Lately, I'm catching myself falling in love with Mediterranean cuisines, so this place will definitely be a frequent stop.

They don't honor their offers that go through Uber eats. Customer service is the worst, they are careless about their clients experience. First and last time getting something from this place!!

It cost as much as a restaurant price, but less quality. You are running a small truck and yet charging almost same as top halal restaurant. I visited the store on Barker Cypress and paid $17 for beef shawarma plate. At same neighborhood, there is Turkish restaurant called Dafne and a similar item called Adana kebap comes with Char-grilled lamb and beef flavored with red bell peppers, served with rice, grilled tomatoes and lavash and it is at $16. Plus I can sit inside, use lavatory etc.

Cool location coz it's right next to a gas station so easy to grab as a quick meal. The service was fast and the food was well packaged. Considering the long line at the other food truck at the next gas station, here would be an okay location for a gyro. The gyro was not as juicy or oily than the one next door, and I prefer the sauce here. But overall, the flavor of lamb was not authentic or delicious so it would only be an option if I don't have time to line up I guess. Btw, once stopping by for the gas and two owners were chilling next to the gas station door. I bet the Houston sun was killing them if they stayed in the food truck! Tough business man! Full respect!

JUST AS GOOD AS COLLEGE STATION!!!! Even picky eaters will like the chicken shawarma I can't believe I've worked in the TMC for 6 months after leaving my precious cstat shawarmas without knowing about this location 5 minutes away.

I went to the food truck off West Bellfort and 59. Couple things: 1. I PULLED A PLASTIC STRING OUT OF MY SHAWARMA SANDWHICH. So UNACCEPTABLE!!! I took a video but Yelp won't give me the option to post it with this review. 2. I'm pretty sure they price discriminate. There are no prices posted and their reason for not having prices posted anywhere is because their "prices are different at every location. Prices are more downtown than here." $10 for a shawarma sandwich with plastic in it and soggy fries is honestly a rip off.

Abu Omar has to be one of the top spots across Houston for chicken shawarma. Their ingredients are juicy, flavorful, and wrapped in a delectable flatbread that is simply hard to top. Despite some recent concerns of their quality standards dropping in some locations, this Almeda location has generally held up strong with its consistently delicious chicken shawarmas. On my latest visit, I was also able to try their gyro sandwich, which features a juicy lamb gyro rivaling the moist texture of their chicken shawarma. At this location, they have also began a collaboration with the newly opened Waffle Station food truck and to my delight, they even prepared a custom chicken tender wrap topped with brisket during a special tasting event. The final product was reminiscent of their tasty zinger wrap albeit with that extra boost from the meaty brisket! Most of their sandwiches can be turned into platters with fries by ordering them as 'Arabi' and if, like me, you're not a fries person, then you can always opt for the generous portions of their shawarma rice platters. But as a general rule, I recommend sticking to chicken here because for some reason, neither the beef Kabob nor the beef shawarma hit the spot here. Beef items tend to be dry here generally and you're therefore better served looking elsewhere on their constantly expanding menu.

Good place for a convenient meal. Price reasonable. It's a good find if you live in the area and want a no-fuss meal. Service is a little slow, but parking is good. Good idea to order before you come so don't have to wait.

I ordered the chicken shawarma with extra meat and it was basically a dry chicken burrito cut into seven pieces. The french fries tasted like they were from Sysco. (I've worked in a few restaurants to know.) Would not recommend.

This place opened not too long ago.. It's in a gas station. Anyways, the chicken shwarma was absolutely delicious. It was big portioned and creamy inside with the chicken. I always get the chicken over rice too. It's literally chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and a garlic sauce on the side. The meat is better than gyro king's chicken over rice so I come here now for that, plus the yummy gyros. The only issue really is the wait. I usually wait 15+ minutes outside the food truck. One time I ordered over the phone for pickup and the guy didn't tell me they ran out of rice until I came to pick it up......... Like really you could have let me know I had to wait a bit more Fortunately I only had to wait another 15 minutes once I arrived... Anyways, I started coming here instead of gyro king :/ the meat seems fresher.

So I get there and order lamb over rice. It was 20 minutes before lunchtime (rush hour to office standards) the guy said it was not ready and to gibe it another 20 minutes. Unlucky me I had the extra that day. I went back 20 minutes later and the guys served me right away... I took my food and thats the end of that. Now here's the review of the food. Plentiful but BLAND... The only highlight was the greens they serve on the side (simple but very fresh and crisp) and the garlic sauce, it was very good. The rice was hard and unflavorful, I just left it, considering that is about to be rush hour I feel bad for all the people that is going to order next. The lamb was there (maybe not?), it didnt taste like lamb (those of you that have tried lamb before know what I'm talking about) and it really was not seasoned. Overall it was an experience that will be easily forgettable in my books. Will definitely not try again. Ohhh and their spicy sauce is knock off siracha.

Had food for first time at this location. Very good. Had the beef Shawarma. Good portion size. Hubby cleaned his plate. Delivery by Doordash. That was great. Timely. Friendly. Highly recommend both Abu and doordash.
