Where to Find the Best Tacos in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"This no-frills taco shop loads up its tortillas with heaping scoops of lengua and barbacoa, and other meat choices, along with salsa and cilantro. Handmade tortillas and super soft and a little thicker than i usual — making the perfect foundation for tender pieces of juicy marinated carne. Those who want spicy should order the Hot Cheetos taco." - Janna Karel

Google
I have never tasted a menudo with tomato sauce flavor, it was sweet, more water than meat... tortillas were humed and with a rare smell. No menudo is sweet period. What's worse..expensive.

Google
I love to Abuela's Tacos at least once per weeks for years now. I love the Shrimp Taco's and chips and salsa. Great Food, Friendly Staff & Owner. My go to for a good meal without breaking the bank.

Google
On Sunday, I had tacos at 3 different places. Abuelas was by far the best steak, and it was prepared perfectly. Nice chunks of steak that were flavorful and satisfying. While I didn't especially like their handmade tortillas, they weren't game-changer for me. Their bottles of homemade salsa at the counter are very flavorful. Mostly, i like the green one. I've been going there for almost 10 years. Cooked by real Grandmas, making really good food. It's a friendly place.

Google
Absolutely delicious food. Super friendly and professional. We have ordered catering for delivery for two large parties and it is always a big hit. I’ve never looked forward to leftovers so much.

Google
Love tacos, was a little hesitant to try the cheeto tacos but this combination was actually very delicious. Good service great food definitely will be coming back

Google
Abuela’s is my Raiders game day must have - not one home game goes by where I don’t have an order or two those carne street tacos. Leslie and her team are nothing but kind and generous, especially with some rowdy fans around. Keep serving up those great street tacos, Abuela’s! 💙

Google
I have been coming here for a couple years and it's a hit everytime. I had the chicken enchiladas this time and it's everything your taste buds have been asking for. Green sauce has a slight kick but the best kind of spice that adds to the flavor. Get yourself some!

Yelp
This place is great. From the employees, to the cleanliness of the restaurant, to the food. My meal was the cheese enchiladas to go. Delicious! Will be returning as frequently as possible.

Yelp
OH. MY. GOSH. THE. TACOS. The shrimp and the fish tacos. The flavor. The seasoning. The HOMEMADE TORTILLAS! They are sort of puffy and cornmeal type. Not corn. Not flour. Maybe a little of both? So good. I was blown away by how authentic this food is. The service is super friendly also. This is a simple place. The menu has menudo. No frills decor. If I had not been traveling I would have gotten some tortillas to go. They are that good. The side of beans -- AWESOME. Go get yourself some tacos and decide for yourself.

Yelp
I had seen some of the people that I follow on social medias. They mentioned this place and I went with a friend of mine and my son it was unbelievable. FOOD was very good. The service you could not have asked for better service the ambience it was cool but the food, all I can do is shake my head. It was very good. Will be going back as well as my son and my friend. I had the fish tacos which were very good. Everything about that fish taco was good. My Son had the nachos. He said they were very good and my friend had the Carne Asada burrito,

Yelp
Small little restaurant with a few tables and music playing in the background. You order at the count and the staff was nice The tortillas for all the tacos were all delicious; nothing like homemade/fresh tortillas Al Pastor - had flavor but of cinnamon, not what I'm used to so it was meh in my opinion The asada and lengua were cooked well and were tender but seriously lacking any flavor. I had to add salt and even that wasn't enough. The salsas were also ok, no heat just plain and again missing flavor. My son in law said the flaming Cheetos tacos were ok, not a big amount of flavor but you can get a hint of the Cheetos. I am going to say this must have been an off day cause I've had them at Allegiant Stadium and the flavors were completely different.

Yelp
We had a long day downtown so this was a welcome stop on the way home. The menu was simple but easy to understand. The food was definitely on point! Sooo yummy! I totally believe this food was made with love. There were photos of the Grandmas on the wall, and there were 3 ladies making fresh tortillas in the kitchen. It was clean and well kept. The food took a little while but the place was busy. The service was good, a nice young man took our order & payment. We all got the 2 taco plate, with carne asada and carnitas. The meat was lean, flavorful and delicious and cooked great. The onions and cilantro gave it a nice flavor and the rice and beans was good, but I would've liked a bit of cotija on top. I will definitely be back for more tacos from this place, it's a great choice for Mexican food on the east side.

Marilyn B.

Yelp
The owners are lovely and staff, the food is flavorful and good and it's fast service!

Yelp
I give them 5 stars for their most popular item - the hot Cheeto taco. This taco lives to to the hype. I particular loved that it was homemade right in front of you but my favorite part was the slight char that they add to the tortilla. I grew up warming up tortillas right on the flame or urn on the stove and this took me back to memory lane. I ordered the carne asada hot Cheetos taco and the Al pastor gordita. I didn't personally care for the gordita because it's too soft for my liking. I prefer mine shaped like a pocket and deep fried to a crisp. This has the texture of a soft - too soft for me. I wasn't a fan of their Al pastor because the clove like taste was overpowering - too sweet for me. The rice and beans were fresh and delicious. It's not in the best neighborhood but hey, that's where all the best food is at right?!! The place was very clean and organized. I'm definitely going back for their tacos.

Yelp
Good tacos This is a business that you have to find at least on the east side of town where I live, but the tacos are really good and the menu has a good variety

Yelp
I heard about Abuela's Tacos's Hot Cheetos tacos when they were featured on Netflix's Taco Chronicles, so decided to try it while in Las Vegas. The store has a lot of crazy but fun table decorations. The interior walls also had lots of tributes to grandmas. I ordered one barbacoa and one carne asada taco, Hot Cheetos style. You could definitely taste the Hot Cheetos in both the tortilla and the toppings, though it wasn't overpoweringly spicy. Service was friendly, and the older employee was surprised that I spoke Spanish. Definitely recommend for something unique, their non-Hot Cheetos food looks tasty too, and handmade tortillas are always a plus!

Yelp
Met a friend for lunch and catching up . Read some reviews while waiting..... Delicious! Got beef flautas and carne asada tacos and lengua taco. Tender meat , great flavor and tortillas were soft and tasty as well. My friend and I both came here from opposite ends of the valley but it was worth the trip . I also had chips y salsa and they were good as well .

Yelp
Always a good restaurant ... fast service friendly ... delicious with fresh tortillas... went here for lunch with a coworker ... I would recommend this place again again

Yelp
Abuela's Tacos was well reviewed online and we weren't disappointed at all. We tried a variety of different meats on our tacos and all of them were solid. Their flagship taco is the Hot Cheetos taco which features a Hot Cheeto shell with crumbled Hot Cheetos on top. It was definitely worth trying, but I felt it took away from the excellent asada.
google avatar

Yelp
Kind of edible??? For the price point it's ok. Nothing special but figured I would try it since it has pretty good reviews. My taste buds and stomach were soooooooooo disappointed. It smelled great when I walked in to order but did not deliver on taste. There was no flavor in any of the food. None. Barely even salt! No onion flavor no cilantro flavor even when it was staring at me in the face. The cheese was lacking as well. The guacamole tasted like it was a mashed up avocado with no spices or anything else added for flavor. That's not guacamole!!!! I make better guacamole than that - come on now. Do better. Probably won't be going back which is unfortunate as I was looking for a local place.

Yelp
Really great food. The staff was super friendly and inviting. The food was just like grandma made it back in the day. I'll definitely go back soon.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice little family owned restaurant. The staff were very nice and the food was made to order. They a good menu and also offer beers (no liquor) if you desire that. I had their Shrimp Burrito which was excellent.

Yelp
Went here with a friend after he recommended this place. I got the #1 two taco combo and obviously paid the 50 cents extra to get the hot cheeto tortillas and topping. It was absolutely amazing, I ended up getting some chips and salsa on the side and even doused my tacos with the salsa because of how flavorful and spicy it was. It was relatively quiet, we were the only two in there and slowly but surely smaller groups joined in but the ambiance is very warm and welcoming. The service was great and the cashier who took our order and delivered us our food to our table was kind and had exceptional customer service. Will definitely be coming back here again to try their flautas!
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best tacos I've ever had! It was my first time here, Karina was extremely nice and helpful going over the menu with me. I truly appreciate her help. Freshly made hot cheetos tortillas were to die for. 12/10 this is a Las Vegas must

Yelp
Tacos are so good we ate the hot Cheetos one and omg so good we come back all the time the staff is so friendly
google avatar

Yailenis O.

Yelp
I got the hot Cheetos tacos with Asada & toppings included... best tacos will be going back for more
google avatar

Daniel C.

Yelp
Overall price is decent but I wouldn't buy this item ever again, Burrito had little carne asada and was fatty with cartilage. Cashier didn't tell me it's only 50 Cents more to make it a combo, afterI paid had to figure it out myself then she mentioned it. Menu is confusing. They gave me extra beans and rice with the combo. Didn't ask if I wanted chips and salsa or which was my preference.

Yelp
We tried the Lengua, Al Pastor, Carne Asada, chicken tacos, and Shrimp Ceviche Tostada. We got the Carne Asada on the flaming hot Cheetos tortilla and the rest were on regular tortillas. Overall, I would have to say that our favorite of everything was simply the handmade tortillas. They were fluffy, soft, and could easily be the best tortillas I've ever had. Unfortunately, the meat options were not great. Lengua, chicken, and ceviche were pretty flavorless, and the al Pastor reminded me of school cafeteria lunch meat. The best option was the Carne Asada. Even the sauces they provided lacked flavor. If I was in the area already, I may grab lunch here, but I would not go out of my way to come back. The interior was clean and the staff was nice. 6/10
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
Ordered and paid, order was lost and made in a hurry, enchiladas were chicken strips and not normal. Feel they just threw something together. My bad I don't speak Spanish and nobody spoke English.. taco bell would have been better.. I'm sure people love it, but I had an overall bad time..

Yelp
Just picked up some food, we live not even 2 minutes away from this place. just started eating at home and the food is not even hot. barely even room temperature or warm. couldnt have been even close to fresh or heated up recently at all since again we live 2 minutes away. Im tired of trying this place, they barely try and dont treat their regulars kindly either. I hope i dont get food poisoning from eating food that hasnt been heated up in awhile. edit: no official food poisoning thankfully, but my stomach Hurt for an hour not gonna lie. but thankfully no throwing up. also wanted to add they still acted like they had no salsa? idk if that was true but yeah they dont want to let you have salsa, and i read it on someone elses review on here too. why? its a mexican restaurant.... im paying for food and some salsa doesnt come with it?

Yelp
So we were on our way out of LV. Making the trip home because our vacay was officially over. We wanted a chorizo burrito. Using the powers of yelp, I found Abuela's. Looking at the pictures, I saw hot Cheetos tacos. I knew my kids would like to try that so went went there. This is off the beaten path. So don't worry if you think your GPS is taking you to get mugged. We arrived and ordered some Cheetos tacos, a couple chorizo burritos and some chicharone tacos. The lady helping us, carina was super nice and helpful. The food came out and it was time to eat. The Cheeto tacos were DELICIOUS! The corn tortillas were soft and fluffy. I can't describe how yummy these tacos were. My son said his tacos were so good that he felt baby Jesus was born on his tongue. Haha. That's how good his tacos were. My wife was going crazy over her chicharone tacos. The burritos were big and fine. If I had to do it all over again, I personally would have stuck to tacos and skip the burritos. This is a must stop taco shop. You will love it.

Yelp
Good hand made tortillas tacos recommend it to everybody . That's around that area they also got good menudo ..
google avatar

Hector F.

Yelp
The Flamin Hot Cheeto Taco was really good!! It was surprisingly good!!! I also had the tacos de Lengua ,Barbacoa y Chicharron Verde! The chicharrón taco was pretty good but the other tacos lacked flavor. And the hand made tortillas were not good!! Lacked flavor and tasted too much like masa!!
google avatar

Baylie S.

Yelp
The carne asada flamin hot Cheetos tacos were genuinely the BEST tacos I've ever had. I didn't expect them to be that good but WOW!! And the goadita is a must too!! Both are some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. Cannot wait to come back to Vegas just for this. The customer service was also absolutely so kind and helpful! Amazing people and amazing food !!

Cesar B.

Yelp
Great food tacos are really good also like the hot Cheeto tortilla but the brake easily but It's still really good try them Out

Yelp
While in Las Vegas for a UNLV rival football game against Reno I looked up the best place for menudo and this place came up so being the great husband that I am I took my wife here, I am not a menudo fan but for 37 years now I just drive the bus My wife said the menudo was just ok but what I had was great. The refried beans were excellent and the asada omelette was very good and there was a lot of flavorful meat. All in all it was a very good visit and I recommend this place. Clean. Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Abuelas catered our engagement party and our guests RAVED about the food. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and the food stayed fresh and warm all night. 10/10.
google avatar

Bebe D.

Yelp
I've been trying to give this place a chance twice and i just don't know how it came to have a 4.5 stars rating. I went this afternoon for a chicken torta and what a disappointment.! The bread was colder than my wife's heart. They don't even take the time to warm it up. The chicken way more overcooked than a huachicolero on a fire. You can tell the chicken is way older than joe biden or has been sitting in there for longer than any member of congress. And i don't even want to talk about the chorizo burrito. All i can say is if you ever want to poison a relative, feed them one of those. Nobody could survive the amount of spices in the chorizo. I'm glad i finally found a good restaurant where i can bring my worst enemy.
google avatar

Orlando A.

Yelp
I ordered food to go from this location. Had the carne asad, lengua and chicharrón tacos. The meats are fresh and the the tortillas are handmade. That was very good, but I will say it's lacking flavor. If they would just add a lil "Sazon" to the meats it would make a big difference. I also had the green and the red salsa for the tacos and unfortunately same outcome, not enough seasoning. I really think this place could be better if it just improved on seasoning. The service was fast and this is the second time trying it.
google avatar

Marlon M.

Yelp
Best tacos in vegas homemade and everything is nice& fresh.Great customer service.Hot cheeto tacos are my favorite. There meats are very good

Yelp
Clean, and very well lit, variety of music is not to loud, A/C is comfortable temperature.

Kevin M.

Yelp
The employees (especially the cashier thats always there) are petty and weird as hell. I ordered 24 tacos the other day and the cashier told me I could only get 3 salsa max from the self serve station. 3 small salsas for 24 tacos? I went back another day and had ordered lot of tacos again and when I went to get my salsas I had got 3 cups. When I turned around she took the bottle from me even though there was still salsa in the bottle and said "theres no more we ran out". I kid you not my coworker went in 15 min later and came back with 5 salsas and said they were fully stocked Idk why I keep coming back to this place their food is not good enough to be dealing with employees bs.
google avatar

Ayla J.

Yelp
It was sooooo good! I had ate most of it before taking this photo lol but Everything tasted Amazing ! The taco meat really tasted like it marinated allll night. Really good flavors. I'll definitely be back

Yelp
This place is very good. Cozy atmosphere and authentic style food. Pretty affordable too. The service is great and treat you like family.

Yelp
Abuelas simply has the best tacos in town. I've never had a bad experience there. The folks running the restaurant are the nicest people ever. It's called Abuela's for a reason too! You can look behind the counter at any given time and see grandmothers making the food, and everyone knows grandmothers always make the best food. It's a smaller restaurant but I've never had a problem finding a seat. I've even brought people from other states (and countries!) here and even years later they rave about how it was the best meal they had in Vegas. Eat here and try the Chicharron Verde tacos and the Barbacoa. It's the best!

Jaylee C.

Yelp
Best food in Vegas, Abuela's and cashiers work hard to give the best customer service and food. The #4 combo Gordita and taco is delicious and definitely worth a try and the menudo on the weekends is amazing. If you're ever near, give this place a try you will not regret it!

Rob C.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem that I've seen for many years. I finally stopped in for lunch and I must say that they have THE BEST AND MOST REASONABLE PRICE FOOD IN TOWN. Very delicious definitely stop by this place......
google avatar

Linda K.

Yelp
We saw this on Netflix's Taco Chronicles, Las Vegas episode, and made a note to eat there next time in Las Vegas. So glad we did-delicious! Naturally I had to try the Hot Cheetos Taco with Asada/beef. It was really red and really good, and not too hot for me. We also had shrimp, pollo, and regular Asada tacos. And those tortillas- fresh made and just the right amount of frying! Beans and rice were both delicious. Staff were Warmly, Linda and friendly. It's not on the Strip, but it's worth a trip to find it. We will definitely come back next time in Las Vegas.
google avatar

Mike V.

Yelp
First off I'd like to say the food was pretty decent. The service was kinda off everybody around was getting random food at random times and doesn't help as a family waiting at least 10 mins for other members food. Also the prices are extremely deceiving as I paid at least an extra $15 because online/yelp doesn't post their updated prices...if u think it's $10 it's actually 13-14 each. Everything was beyond inflated in price and as the price reflects the food I'd rather spend elsewhere for equal quality I really didn't think the tortillas being fresh made were any better than the regular ones u get, in fact I feel u get less substance because the thicker tortillas. Overall was it good yes. The price...def not I could have served me and my fam of 3 a nice lunch at a restaurant like viva zapatas for soup beans rice and a whole meal including steaks for same price...shame post ur prices don't have them gouging at the register smh.

Yelp
My Favorite place for Breakfast and Lunch.. I drove approx fourteen miles to go get this breakfast and I would do it again.

Yelp
Good tacos nice delicious dinner plate clean nice tables good fountain drinks nice waitress convenient location

T L.

Yelp
Brings back fond memories of my abuelita's home cooked meals! Beans were creamy and delish. Not salty at all! Rice was perfectly cooked and tasty. Soft carne asada tacos on the homemade corn tortilla were plentiful with meat (not full of gristle) and so delicious! Also tried green chili enchilada which was also delicious especially with the homemade corn tortillas. So far, 10 out of 10! I will definitely go back and will become a regular customer. Can't wait to try their posole!
google avatar

Amelia C.

Yelp
Ordered the Al pastor quesadilla. It was extremely salty that my tongue hurt. Did not finish it in one sitting due to salt overload. Great flavors but heavy handed on the salt. Our group of six did not enjoy Menudo soup. It was too pungent. We were not a fan of the flavor even though we love tripe.
google avatar

Majesti D.

Yelp
We are visiting from Colorado! oh my, I think they are very comfort food in this town. Perfect for small group of friends or family. Their service was very excellent and friendly to deaf community! We are definitely come and visit every time we visit
google avatar

Yelp
Good size burritos ,accessible, fair price, cozy and neat dine in area. I live just a little over 1 block so this place is wasy for me to run to in case i crave for burritos or tacos! It is near the auto repair shop that i go to so its easy to get food while waiting for the car to get done.
google avatar

Laura A.

Yelp
Love the homemade tortillas here! Would definitely recommend, definitely good food variety.
google avatar

Melyna S.

Yelp
We were in the area and i pulled up my Vegas collection bookmarks on Yelp and this place was right around the corner from us! I am so so happy we stopped by, because it is delicious!!! My boyfriend ordered the tacos; 2 pollo and 2 carne - he loved the flavor of them! he especially loved the tortillas! i tried a piece of the tortilla and wow... so so good! you can definitely tell they are homemade! I ordered the asada omelette and added sour cream inside and asked for avocado to be added with no pico de gallo. the flavor of the carne asada is so good!!! the entire omelette was good! We are just bummed we live so far away from Abuelas tacos, but we can't wait to stop by again next time we're in the area craving delicious mexican food!
