Abuelo Marylebone - Review - Marylebone - London - The Infatuation

"We can’t walk past this Marylebone cafe without feeling an intense urge to go inside and redesign our entire home to match Abuelo’s gorgeous interiors. Beautiful dark wood and chrome fittings aside, the food at this popular spot is for anyone who spends a significant amount of time in the fancy crackers section of Waitrose and refers to organic milk as an “investment”. Dishes go between an easy assembly job (cc the literal ‘bit of everything plate’) that you can skip, and homely breakfasts like a Spanish tortilla topped with caramelised onions, spicy mayo, and fresh labneh that’s worth an order. But the real pull here is the room. So drink a salted vanilla cream matcha and eat a carrot cake that’s as pretty as the interiors, and take plenty of snaps in the process. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Food Rundown Tortilla This potato and cheese omelette is salty and sweet from the caramelised onions on top. Order this if you’re hungry. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Bit Of Everything Plate You’ll see the description—“vanilla fig & miso house jam, comte cheese, whipped butter, soft boiled egg and fresh sourdough” and think it’s a combination of these ingredients in a prepared dish. But, no. It is just all of those things, on a plate, and it is underwhelming to say the least. Salted Vanilla Cream Matcha Abuelo is by far the most generous spot when it comes to the amount of cream on its matcha. The salted vanilla takes up almost half the entire cup and when mixed in, gives the matcha a nice subtle sweetness and the perfect creamy texture. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Rianne Shlebak

Cool brunch place! ☕️🍞 Make sure you book your table in advance especially on weekends 🤝🏼 Queueing was not fun here, since staff was slow with cleaning up tables and had no overview of the people that waited. After getting a seat, food arrived pretty quickly! 😊 I loved the build a breakkie option! 🥰 The boiled egg 🥚 was 10/10 and the handmade marmalade 🤯🤯 in love! However the food arrived before the drinks did & I don’t like that. After just finishing the lovely breakfast the staff had the audacity to ask wether we could finish up our food faster so they could place our table to the party next to us (!!!) because they misplaced them. That is simply unacceptable. I loved the food and I loved the vibe of abuelo but the staff destroyed the experience. There should be more people on weekends and they should split areas of responsibility. So sad! 😢

@restaurantsinbcn (IG) A trendy spot in London for breakfast. The interior design is simply perfect — it reminded me of restaurants in Barcelona. The food is very tasty and hearty, though a bit on the pricey side. Reservation is highly recommended.

This was my first experience at Abuelo, as my friend and I got there, there was a long queue took us just under an hour to get seated. And the seats offered to us were a bench nexto the window with a tiny coffee table- no space for food when we wanted to order brunch. Had asked the worker (in the image) if we could move and she said she’ll check but there’s a queue, and as I sat down again i could see her side eyeing me and laughing at me with her coworker. I didn’t appreciate that as we waited a long time to get seated so we should at least be seated at comfortable seats, no need to laugh at us and be rude. We eventually moved seats but didn’t feel comfortable to order brunch so just got matcha as we did wait a while. £7 for matcha pretty pricey however the signature cream was delicious and we both liked it. Later, the worker asked us if we were ordering food due to us moving to an actual table so we ordered banana bread. That was literally burnt. Abuelo has alright matcha, however the workers were absolutely horrible. Completely ignored us and gave us horrible looks just because we are in a fancy area and aren’t tourists or white. I wouldn’t come again. I’d try another branch if anything.

Delicious food! London needed somewhere like this with tasty coffees and excellent, well made food. I can’t wait to return and would highly recommend it here. 2 drinks, 2 main courses for £46.

Great place, though it’s often quite busy, so it can be hard to find a seat inside. The food and coffee are both really good. My only concern is that the last time I managed to sit indoors, my clothes smelled a bit afterward, which is a bit annoying if having a professional meeting, and service was slower than expected. Other than that, it’s a great spot — and I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m in London.

Interior is properly done. warm wood, soft lighting, calm vibe. Coffee is smooth, espresso is good and the breakfast menu is a surprise win. Good spot for a relaxed coffee or light breakfast; come early or book on weekends.

A hidden gem! This coffee and wine bar is the perfect blend of minimalism and warmth. The earthy decor creates a calm, inviting atmosphere, simple yet so thoughtfully designed. The staff are incredibly friendly and made the experience even better with their attentive and genuine service. I tried their matcha, and it’s hands down the best in London- smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. Whether you’re stopping in for a quiet coffee or an evening glass of wine, this place gets everything right.

Atmosphere is amazing, dim lighting and overall gives a cozy vibe. Seating can be a bit awkward if it’s crowded so definitely recommending reserving a table in advance. We tried the Spanish tortilla which was decent and the cold brew specials, the dulce de leche one was great!
