AC Hotel by Marriott Portland Downtown

"What's the big picture?Part of the Madrid-born and (now) Marriott-owned hotel chain founded by Spanish hotelier Antonio Catalán, this sleek new downtown Portland boutique hotel is short on non-essentials and long on style, targeting effortlessly hip young travelers. Don’t expect conventional extras like alarm clocks, a concierge, or even room service (not that you need it with all the excellent Portland restaurants and food carts nearby). Do, however, expect clean, modern design, an efficient staff, and a beautiful little marble-backed lobby bar, just the spot for a revitalizing gin and tonic and bowl of citrus-marinated olives or spiced pistachios. The 13-story, 204-room hotel has a location can’t be beat: Tom McCall Waterfront Park is three blocks east, the perpetually packed Vietnamese restaurant Luc Lac is next door, and Pioneer Place mall is just across the street, practically a Zara bag’s toss from the front door. Nice. Who's booking a stay here?Solo travelers, businesspeople, jetsetters, and under packers. What are your thoughts on the rooms?Book a spacious King Corner Room for the extra square footage, a cozy sitting area, and floor-to ceiling-windows. Ongoing downtown construction can be disruptive; ask for the highest, quietest room possible if you’re sensitive to street noise. Floating pillowtop beds ensure a good night’s sleep, and there are also eco-friendly full-size bottles of shower gel and lotion by Korres, plus flat-screens equipped with Netflix and Hulu. And although you won’t find a robe or slippers in the minimalist closet, they’re just a phone call away. What, if anything, really stood out to you here? One of the LEED Silver–certified hotel’s coolest features (literally) is the Hydration Station on each floor. Borrow one of the glass carafes, or bring along your trusty Klean Kanteen, and fill it with purified water to take back to your room, cutting out any wasteful plastic bottle middlemen. What kind of food can we find in the restaurant? Are there other options nearby?Spanish-style egg tarts, meats and cheeses, fresh croissants, toast with Nutella, a Nespresso machine, and a prosciutto station add European flair to the ordinarily humdrum hotel breakfast routine, but considering your proximity to morning meal heavyweights like Mother’s Bistro and Bijou Cafe, you may also want to take your $16 elsewhere. For a fun and casual counter-service lunch, try neighboring Luc Lac, one of the nearby food carts, or Pine Street Market food hall; for a romantic dinner, book a table at elegant Q Restaurant around the corner. We heard a thing or two about a coffee bar. What's the deal?Bright and early each morning, what you thought was just an Instagram-friendly wall sculpture of a giant petrified stump swings open to reveal a darling walk-up coffee counter—AKA The Slab. Coffee enthusiasts will appreciate the excellent cappuccinos and lattes made with Portland’s own Water Avenue Coffee; coffee obsessives will appreciate being in the presence of greatness; namely, a tablet-controlled Alpha Dominche Steampunk siphon brewer." - Jen Stevenson

I had a fantastic stay at the AC Hotel in Portland! The modern, clean design and thoughtfully curated spaces made it feel upscale yet comfortable. The rooms were spotless, stylish, and incredibly quiet — perfect for relaxing after a day in the city. The staff was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful from check-in to check-out. The location is ideal — right in the heart of downtown, close to great restaurants, shops, and the waterfront. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Portland and want a blend of comfort, class, and convenience

We arrived three hours before check-in, so our rooms weren’t ready yet. However, the front desk agent promised us a great view, and she delivered! Our rooms overlooked the river and downtown Portland, and the view was absolutely beautiful. The hotel doesn’t provide daily room service, but they will if you request it. Anytime we needed something, like extra towels or pillows, they brought it right away. We didn’t need a car for this trip, which was fortunate because valet parking here is pricey, though understandable for a downtown location. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance, making it a very convenient place to stay.

Stayed here earlier this year. The hotel was clean, comfortable and in the perfect location. We were able to walk easily to multiple destinations. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and helpful, including Jack, Hector, and Alan. Alan was especially great. He gave us excellent restaurant recommendations in the area, and the food did not disappoint.

I've stayed at this property on a couple of occasions and had a great experience both times. The front desk is welcoming and accommodating. They went above and beyond when I ran into a significant delay getting into town. While the valet is expensive (like all downtown hotels everywhere) they were friendly and made the effort to ask if I was leaving again the same day, so they could keep the car out front. The rooms are clean, functional, and modern. The TV interface wasn't the best, but has a decent number of channels and streaming apps built in. The restaurant and coffee shop downstairs are great, but the location is within a short walking distance of many restaurants and food truck pods.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Convenient location that is so centrally located, it's a quick walk in any direction to just about everything! Felt very safe, and though I didn't use valet at any point, they keep the lines short and were very helpful in opening the doors for everyone throughout the day. The room itself was nicely updated and new. Downsides: bed was hard, pillows were between the extreme of super super flat to super super puffy/hard. The bathroom has a barn door slider that doesn't lock (so if you have kids ... or even a nosy partner... be prepared for them to walk in on you in the bathroom, shower, etc.) The first room we checked into had a lot of little hairs all over (mattress, pillows, sink). We got a new room but the second room was still a less extreme case with the same problem. At that point we just cleaned as much as we could and dealt with it. We also were a bit disappointed because we booked this hotel mainly because it said there was complimentary breakfast included - there's not. That is more so booking.com's fault though since it was mislabeled. There's a paid breakfast option available though but the food wasn't even that glorious to go out of your way for it. There's plenty of fantastic restaurants nearby though so it wasn't a problem. Front desk workers are super nice! I'd stay again, overall.

The rooms were comfortable and clean. The hotel was in a good location with a lot of food options very close by that all looked yummy. Our BIG problem with our stay is the care that was taken of our truck. It's a huge truck and was kept up front for $60 something dollars per night. I get it, it's very long and doesn't fit in the garage. I also understand that they have to move it occasionally. Totally reasonable. What is NOT OK is them leaving our truck unlocked after moving it. When mentioned to two staff members we were told that it had to be moved. Again, we understood. They didn't not seem to grasp that the real problem was it being left unlocked. How irresponsible!

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! I’ve stayed at this hotel for multiple times for business trips and this would be the last time! I’ve been staying with the Marriott hotels for many years and this makes me want to try out another brand. This hotel charges a 30 dollar early check in when you arrive at 2pm and the room is ready. They don’t tell you until they’ve checked you in and drop a “by the way there’s an early check in fee”. I stay at hotels around the world and this is the ONLY HOTEL that charges that. I’ve seen circumstances when the room is not ready and hotels can’t check you in early. Those are understandable but charging a fee is unheard of. This hotel also only cleans the room every other day. No greeting nor smile at the front desk both check in and check out. No service whatsoever. Luckily I don’t pay for it myself this time, but the amount of ridiculousness is unbelievable. There are many, many other hotels around so please make a better choice.

This hotel has a great location. The beds were amazing, but you could tell that it had been recently remodeled with floating floors that looked unlevel. It was still a nice place to stay, but don't let them get you for the parking because there's a place across the street that you can park overnight/weekend for $14. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our stay as it was very close to our venue at Providence Park, we walked there and back and it felt safe and we enjoyed it the walk. 3 blocks from the waterfront!

Yelp
Probably the worst Marriott I've ever stayed at. I am in Portland for work this week and decided to stay here, as I've had good experiences staying at other AC hotels before. This one? Not so much. It was disappointing, over and over again. Every evening shift front desk clerk was not pleasant. After I checked in, I waited 15 minutes for a valet before I re-approached the person to be like hey it's like 9pm I'm exhausted and they still haven't shown up. She finally took my keys. Whatever. Except the valet being MIA was a continuous problem. They were good about bringing my vehicle at the time I scheduled however I still had to search for them (or hit up the AM front desk clerks who were SO MUCH NICER!!!!) to get my keys so I could go. I get to my hotel room finally and there's 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, 2 wash cloths, and a floor mat. For a room with 2 queen sized beds. The next day after work, I approached another/different evening front desk clerk and requested 1 additional towel because I only had 1 towel. "We don't really restock those unless you ask" and I was like OK but it was never stocked???? I checked in yesterday and there was only 1 at baseline when I first entered my room. She looked at me like I was insane and eventually said they'd send some towels up. (They sent about 200 more towels which I can't tell if it was aggressive, or passive aggressive.) That morning I also noticed there was a sticky/dirty unwrapped paper cup by my in room coffee maker. Fine, I used the plastic wrapped one as they provided 2 paper cups. When I proceeded to put the lid on, it just fell directly in my coffee because the lid's diameter was less than the diameter of the cup. When I asked for more towels, I asked for more cups and lids, and she said they didn't have lids... ok?? But weird. As a result of lack of lids, I ended up spilling some coffee on my floor, so I guess 5,000 towels they sent up came to good use. There was not enough conditioner to take a shower and wash my hair, I discovered after I started to wash my hair. If you're a diehard Marriott and need to stay under budget, the Residence inn is so much nicer. I'll probably go back to the Kimpton though when I'm back 2 more weeks this month since this is leaving me with a bad taste. The attitude problem. The lack of basic amenities in the rooms. The inability to find valet when necessary... Go elsewhere

Yelp
I fell in love with this place. I was visiting for work. Clean , modern and a professional staff.

Yelp
Stayed her for a meeting. It's a nice hotel convenient to lots of restaurants. In the heart of the City. Staff are friendly. Accommodations are classy. Nice bedding and towels. They have a nice bar and wine tasting which I didn't have time to try. There's a nice coffee operation in the lobby, saves you from wandering around looking for good coffee.

Yelp
AC Hotel has recently become one of my go-to select Marriott brand hotels. Comfortably nice without breaking the bank. I haven't stayed at this location, but I was pleased to find that it was on par with my experiences at other AC Hotels around the country. I felt that this hotel was in a prime location downtown. We were close to trendy restaurants, bars, and shopping. There was a lot of foot traffic, so I felt generally safe walking around the streets. Overall customer was great. Check-in was a breeze. Our interactions with hotel staff have been nothing but positive. Special shout out to the guys at valet and the barista who helped me at the cafe. As expected, our room was spacious, clean, and had all the basic amenities for a cozy stay. We lucked out on a room that had a great view of the city. I did find that finding a spot to park for valet on the side of Taylor St. was tricky on the night we checked in. When my sister and I arrived at the hotel, there was no where we could leave our car on Taylor without obstructing traffic. We circled around the block and ended up finding parking on SW 3rd Ave. However, I had to advise someone from valet to pick up our car from that side of the hotel.

Yelp
While in downtown Portland for work for a week I stayed here. This was my first time staying at an AC Hotel and based on this experience, I'll definitely stay at one again! Checking in was spot on, quick, and efficient. The check-in clerk did all the right things and was helpful. The décor is upscale and interesting. They have a nice cocktail bar on site which serves food and they also have a coffee shop. The bed was comfy. The shower and bathroom was very clean, but the towels in the bathroom were paper thin, like something you'd see at a Super 8 or one of those types of hotels. The soap dispensers in the shower didn't work properly due to the brackets they use to hold and secure them to the wall. I wish they'd go back to refreshing the room every day... This mess of only doing it every other day is ridiculous! The TV worked perfectly well and they offered a nice assortment of channels. The HVAC was the quietest I've experienced, probably ever! Overall, this was a nice visit... Highly recommend!

Yelp
Halloween weekend brought my best friend and I to Portland from Seattle for Zhu's performance at the Rose Theater. Our initial disappointment arose when the Marriott informed us about being relocated to the AC Hotel, a name unfamiliar to us. Expressing my concern to my girlfriend at the time over the phone, she intended to escalate the matter until I told her what hotel they were putting us in. She immediately told "me you're complaining for nothing that hotel is a really good hotel" lol. To my surprise, the AC Hotel exceeded expectations. The stay was delightful, with immaculate rooms and excellent valet service. The staff, accommodating our frequent car retrievals, showcased great understanding and efficiency. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone visiting Portland for a top-notch experience."

Yelp
Decent room, but insufficient care for customers with allergies. We had requested for a feather-free in advance and this Marriott simply dropped the ball. Not only were our pillows made out of feathers, there were literally sharp feather tips sticking out of the pillows through the pillow cases and scratched me while handling them. I had developed a large red rash across my arm. Once notified, the hotel staff was quick to send replacement pillows however as a loyal Marriott customer this pained me, literally. The king room in which stayed in was low and close to street level. We could hear loud cars and even our neighbors talking! For quiet sleepers, this is not the hotel for you. In the bathroom, the sink also had a large crack down the middle and looked like it was quick fixed with some glue. Room service was available for breakfast and lunch. While lacking in dinner, they did offer a few vegetarian and vegan options that we did not try. Despite these mishaps, the staff was accommodating with other requests such as early arrival check-in, toiletries, and cutlery. Overall our stay here could have been better...

Yelp
Just stayed five nights here during a work trip to Portland. No complaints about this place. The hotel and my room were clean, everything looks modern, the room was spacious, and the elevators are fast. Checking in and out were quick with no lines, and front desk staff were pleasant.

Yelp
The hotel is nice. My room was clean. It seemed understaffed, which created a lot of waiting around time. They don't have onsite parking, and I waited multiple times for at least 15 minutes to drop my car back off with the valet, which I believe was $50/night. The bar staff was friendly and attentive, but also seemed understaffed. When I tried to order food, with a busy bar, the server said the wait might be 20-30 minutes, because he was handling the bar alone. My television remote also could not control the volume on the TV, so it was full blast or off. They did send someone to repair it, and that took around 45 minutes of me sitting and waiting rather than being out exploring the city.

Yelp
My partner and I booked this hotel for her birthday trip. Neither of us had ever been to Portland and this hotel was more than welcoming. First, we got there early but they still got us a room and even asked our opinion on what floor we would like to be on. The hotel clerks were all so incredibly nice, I wish I could remember their names. One of them wrote down a bunch of cool spots for us to try out during our stay and we did go to a few and honestly loved the recommendations. So that was such a cool added bonus. They gave us free drink tickets for the hotel bar because we were celebrating a birthday and the room was awesome. There was one tiny issue, just that we found that our sheets had 2 stains on them, but we called the front desk and they immediately changed them for us. Would absolutely recommend this hotel! Thanks for the friendly service! :)

Yelp
My feelings about this hotel waffled during our five-night stay. It wasn't terrible by any means, but neither was it as great as the last AC Hotel we'd stayed in. I guess I can break it down a bit. Getting to the hotel from the airport was easy enough. We took the light rail from arrivals to the SW 3rd Street stop and walked a couple blocks to the hotel. Check-in was easy, if not exactly quick. Our room was on the 8th floor, and when we arrived, there was a note on the desk addressed to a Mr. someone not in our party. I called down to the front desk to make sure that this was indeed the room we were supposed to be checked in to, and the girl told me to just throw away the letter. The room itself was spacious enough, with a desk, couch and coffee table. The WiFi was decent throughout our stay, which was key as we worked on our first day there. The bed felt unstable and the mattress wasn't nearly as comfortable as the Marquis we'd just left in San Francisco. The bathroom was big, with lots of counter space and a European-style flush toilet. The shower itself was nice enough, with a rainfall shower head directly above and a standard shower head on the wall. They use the refillable shampoo/body wash/conditioner bottles here, so we picked up a few travel items from the pharmacy in Pioneer Square for our stay. They don't offer much by way of clothes storage. There are two small cabinets in the entry hallway, a small closet with hangers and some space between those two to stack items. There's also a bench that runs along most of one wall, which is where we stashed the suitcases. We got coffee from their cute and hidden-when-it's-not-open coffee stall near the front desk on our first day there but didn't try to dine at the restaurant or hang out at the bar. Two incidents to note before I wrap my review. The first is that the Rittenhouse verdict came in while we were in town. The hotel is two blocks from the Justice Center, which was the site of riots. We heard about the riots while we were hanging out at Deschutes that night and were extra cautious about where we were walking on our way back to the hotel. The lobby doors were locked (needed keycard access) when we got back, and they had security posted inside the lobby. It was nice to see that they were doing what they could to keep their guests safe - not that it was necessary, but that extra step was appreciated. The second incident happened the day we checked out. We had a late flight, so we checked out and asked them to hold our stuff (two suitcases and two backpacks). The girl - same one who'd checked us in - tagged our gear, handed over the tags and wished us well. When we got back to the hotel and handed the tags over to the guy working at that point, he initially couldn't find our stuff. We had about 3 heart-in-mouth minutes of "oh god, that's all our work and personal laptops, all of our personal items, we have to work tomorrow..." before he came back out with everything. Anyway, I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about this hotel. The location is decent - it's a quick walk to Pioneer Square and there are a ton of light rail stops to get you where you need to go. The room was comfortable-ish, the bed was the worst thing about the space. We didn't get housekeeping in while we were there - COVID, dontcha know - but we knew that going in. I'd initially told my husband I wouldn't want to stay here again, but now...I'm thinking it's not so bad...?

Yelp
We had a great stay at the AC Hotel during my birthday visit to Portland. The valet parking set up was convenient and staff was very helpful throughout our stay. We appreciated The Slab to get convenient coffee in the mornings before our daily adventures. Easy and accessible location -- convenient for walking around (assuming the weather isn't too wet or too cold).

Yelp
Very nice hotel with complimentary wine tastings on Friday. Sometimes parking can be found across the street.

Yelp
Pros Front desk is very nice and efficient. Lounge and fitness room . Self self water / coffee / apples x Restaurant New Cons Housekeeping skipped us 2 days in a row even when we called down to request it . Service at the restaurant is horrendous. We tried it 3 days in a row 1st try - I had to get up and go service myself coffee at the front reception bc the server never returned . 2nd try - ordered bacon and eggs . Bacon was burnt and almost black . I asked for fresh baboon and the server said " we don't serve fresh bacon on the weekends, that's from the night before " 16$ meal 3rd try - French toast and eggs . ( they forgot the eggs) server never returned until meal was gone.

Yelp
It is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are minimalist, but not in a good way. The bathrooms don't have a real door, it's more of a sliding barn type door, so there will be no secrets with whoever you are with. Although the rooms were weird, they were functional and clean. The cost was disproportionate for what you're getting.

Yelp
This AC Hotel location has great customer service and clean, spacious rooms. I love my individual (suite?) with a leather sofa!

Yelp
Make sure you reiterate room cleaning service. I had to go down to reception every day of my week's stay to have them get my room cleaned.

Yelp
Stopped here recently on a quick trip to the city to visit friends. I found the location quite nice - a short walk down to the riverfront, quick trip to/from the airport, and plenty of nice places to eat nearby (try Luc Lac!). Front desk was super friendly and the rooms were gorgeous. Great views, comfortable bed, and quiet! Loved being able to run along the water easily each morning, being a short walk from the farmer's market and other downtown spots, and enjoyed stopping at the nice coffee bar at the entrance after my runs. On top of that, the prices for this place were extremely reasonable and cheaper than most other spots. Also A+ internet! This one was a home run, enjoyed! Would stay here again on future trips.

Marie H.

Yelp
Such a weird place. Wants to take its position among chic, hip, sophisticated, modern boutique hotels. The decor is cool, and the bar is forward-thinking but the amenities are not up to Marriott standards. Room coffee is drawer coffee maker with FAKE CREAMER. There is a fancy fridge mimicking a wine fridge but no microwave. There is a rail instead of a closet. The coffee shop is expensive espresso and it closes at 11. Bar doesn't open until 5, therefore NO COFFEE IN HOTEL between 11 and 5. Pricier than it should have been for what it was. Skip it and go to Hotel Lucia, or Vintage Kimpton, Hotel Jupiter, or The Inn at Northrup Station.

Yelp
I am an Executive Assistant and sometimes my job requires me to do event planning for meetings, conferences and other gatherings. I called around to local downtown Portland hotels to see what they had to offer before I made my selection. I was invited to the hotel for happy hour and to tour the space. I ordered a specialty berry cocktail (I don't recall the name), Avocado Toast and the Roasted Potatoes. The cocktail was delicious. Fresh, muddled ingredients and none of that nasty syrupy crap. While the avocado toast was tasty, you simply cannot pick it up and eat it like you normally would. All the toppings fall off. So expect to fork and knife it and deconstruct it in order to shovel it in. The roasted potatoes had a nice, spicy aioli on it...I pretty much can't go wrong with anything potato. After we chatted a bit over a drink and appetizers, we walked through the hotel and looked at the dining space first where breakfast is served daily. You can also rent that space for an event...think cocktail hour. We next continued up to an empty guest room. It's very simple and to the point, nice and clean. The things you need and no extras. Our next stop were the conference rooms. They had a boardroom style and a bit larger one that, I believe, will seat up to 40 people. Of course, not a great location for a large group, but a quaint one would be perfect.

Yelp
My boyfriend & I took a short trip to Portland and decided to stay at the AC hotel in Downtown. Upon entering the hotel, it smelled amazing & was greeted by the friendliest front desk person, Carter! He was really nice and answered all the questions I had and even gave us two vouchers for a free drink at the bar which I thought was very thoughtful! The hotel has a nice little lounge area with a full bar - the bartender was great and recommended a few restaurants & a few things to do in Portland. They also have a little coffee bar in the mornings, we didn't try it but nice that they were open! They have valet which is $48/night but we decided to just park on the street & pay using the Parking Kitty app which is so convenient! I'd definitely recommend parking on the street - you only have to pay on weekdays & Saturday from 8-7 and then Sunday from 1-7. We were always able to find parking right in front of the hotel. The hotel is right next to Pioneer Place if you want to go shopping! A Nordstrom rack is down the street as well and a BUNCH of food places! Luc Lac is right around the corner & they serve AMAZING pho & Vietnamese food. It made it so convenient for nights we didn't want to drive! Pros: - Affordable - Friendly front desk & staff - Super clean room - Convenient location! Very close to Pioneer Place & food places - They have a hydration station on every floor! It serves the GOOD crunchy ice and delicious water lol this was very impressing! - 24/7 gym although I never used it (a girl can only dream lol) - Nice shower - it has a rainfall shower head & a detachable one Cons: - The AC was horrible. It seems to be at a fixed temperature, it can only go down to 65 degrees but even then, the room felt SO stuffy. It was almost impossible to sleep as both myself and my boyfriend get warm very easily. We barely slept because of it - The PILLOWS!! It almost feels like they bought some cheap ones from Target or something. They were so flat. We had a king bed & the pillows were standard...shouldn't they have been king size pillows? - Some of the vinyl flooring was warping in our room which felt weird to walk on

Yelp
Stayed here for one night only as we made arrangements to see Hasan Minaj not too far up the street. Front desk/window was very nice as they gave us details as best as possible. Heads up, there isnt a parking garage connected to the hotel, but you have to park along side the street. Fortunately, when we stayed, it was on a holiday and parking was free. We also left early in the morning for our flight by 6:30-6:45 so our rental car was still there, not towed. I'm guessing around 8am is when they tab you. So, be aware of when you do and dont have to pay. Very nice room, comfortable bed, sitting area, etc. My only comment, and just like other yelpers have mentioned, the door to the bathroom is a sliding glass door. So, unless you're staying with your spouse, or immediate family, you may not want to stay here. However, if you all are close and dont mind hearing everyone's business, then go ahead. Other than that, no problems and would stay here again.

Yelp
Loved everything about this hotel! Prime location, staff was awesome (Alarik) and our room was decent in size and clean! Will definitely stay here again when we come back to Portland!

Yelp
This hotel and more importantly, the staff, get IT! They make each guest feel incredibly special. Our first ten seconds in the hotel, we were greeted by Cameron, so kind, so interesting and so efficient! The hotel room was gorgeous and clean with beautiful views and easy parking (we did the Park and Stay). We were met immediately at drop off and the next day, our car was waiting for us on the circle as we prepared to depart. The bar in the hotel is wonderful - and a great place to start or end your night! Bartenders are also fabulous! We were in town to celebrate a monumental event of my wife's and went to a very special dinner with several couples some of whom also stayed at the AC Hotel Portland. We were shocked and thrilled to learn that the hotel has a shuttle (you are thinking van, this is a mercedes SUV) that is complimentary! I have stayed in 5 star hotels and not been treated better than this staff approaches their clients. The rooms are immaculate and Seamus (the GM) went above and beyond to ensure the celebration was absolutely perfect for my wife and our friends. We will ALWAYS stay here. Not because of the special treatment but because it was so clean and the staff is amazing, it is easy and located in the heart of the Old Port. Our friends also truly enjoyed their stay. A million thanks for one of the best experiences in a hotel EVER. Book the AC Hotel Portland, you will have absolutely NO regrets.

Great place with wonderful staff and immensely accommodating. I will be back. It has a fun vibe and is located in a fairly quiet corner downtown.

Yelp
This is the 4th or 5th AC I have stayed at. What is with the vinyl floors that float? It reminds me of some really old house. Noisy, wavy and just odd. I love the AC concept but this property saved money and this very cheap floor sort of ruins the vibe. The other ACs have the wood looking tile that fits the style. Not this place. Last time I will stay at this one. Adding to this from last night... there is a wicked high pitched sound that once you relax you hear it and then it is really disturbing. Not sure if it is refrigerator, airco, something mechanical in the building - unsure but really annoying. Add to that the fact that the shower has a spray handle with an overhead rain shower type and of course the rain shower head valve mechanism does not work so all you get is the hand held , which is ok, but the rain head slowly drips cold water. Just one of those stays. Man that high pitch is driving me crazy. I think I am going to switch rooms.

Yelp
This was my first stay at an AC Hotel. This is the new European acquisition to bring hip to Marriott. This particular location had only been open 9 days when we arrived. Parking: There is valet, but the lane was blocked upon our arrival. Good thing because valet is $40/night!!!! FYI, street parking around the streets is free in the evening, but the metered spots start charging after 8am. Also, there's a cheaper parking garage across from the hotel. Location: short walk to Willamette River, shopping or Portland Saturday Market. Lobby: trendy with kitschy knick knacks. Bar: Fantastic. Had some great drinks at this spot. Breakfast: $15 and some good options (quiches, meat & cheeses) Coffee: There's a barista in the lobby (the slab opens in the morning) for some good quality coffee. Rooms: Very simplistic. Couch, desk & bed. Bottled water in the refrigerator, but they have "hydration stations" down the hall where you can fill up a carafe with ice & water. Bathroom had a couple different showerheads including a rain. Overall, I would say this is almost a 5 star. Couple of quirks to work out. Check-in was very slow and there was usually a wait if I had to go to front desk. Also, maid service was inconsistent.

Yelp
We got there before midnight. Lucky, because valet stops at some point in the middle of the night. We forgot something in the car and had to be escorted to the lot 2/3 blocks away. Relatively clean and quiet room. Beds comfortable enough and located just out of the tougher areas dt. Room service was good but the restaurant is not on the property. We got delivery and also we picked some up as we checked out. The location was 5 min drive. Something notable that I liked was the ice machine. It was located 2 doors away from us and it had crunchy ice and filtered water. I really liked that machine. This hotel and the Beverly Hilton in LA CA both have water and ice available. Kudos.

Yelp
This hotel was nice, clean and the front desk people seemed friendly. We visited during covid so we didn't get much interaction. The hotel is right in downtown. Right in the middle of everything, which would be nice when all the restaurants open back up. There is a mall right across the street and the street parking was easy to figure out. The hotel offers expensive valet but honestly the street parking was easy and inexpensive. I only knocked off one star because of the room bathroom. You can see right into the toilet! I hope you're very very very very comfortable with whoever you're in the room with, or alone. The bathroom door is a sliding glass door which looks nice but is not practical. My husband and I chose to take turns going for a "walk" while the other used the bathroom. It wasn't overly inconvenient but still... There is also no fan in the toilet area. So it's not like you can drown out any sound/smells. I wouldn't mind staying here again the next time we visit but for my husband its a hard pass.

Yelp
Comfortable bed and soft pillows. Ample natural light as well as reading lights. High tech mini fridge that allows you to adjust the temperature. Loved the recycle bin next to the trash bin and wish all hotels would follow suit. Also loved the flooring as it was not carpet and thus did not retain any odors or allergens. The overhead rain shower was relaxing. The bench seating was perfect for travel bags. The open makeshift closet space was convenient and allowed for a larger feel to the room as it eliminated the need for a few walls. Overall the furnishings were modern with clean lines and it felt like a studio apartment. We wish we could have opened the window for fresh air although according to the newspaper air quality index report for Portland, perhaps the filtered air is fresher. The local area artists featured in the hotel was a nice touch. For the price, it seems breakfast should have been included as is standard at most Marriotts at which we have stayed over the years. Alas, we were informed that despite a lack of signage letting patrons know that the dining area in the lobby is a restaurant separate from the hotel, there is an additional charge of $15 for morning food here. We opted to walk to a nearby breakfast spot instead. We also prefer parking our own vehicle so that we may leisurely collect our items instead of feeling rushed on a busy street in a temporary valet spot but unfortunately self parking is not an option here and the mandatory valet costs $40 per day. The receptionist was friendly and accommodating and he made sure we were placed in a quiet room. The air conditioning is nice and quiet as well. The water filling station is convenient for making coffee and tea. Overall we enjoyed the look of the room and its cleanliness but were nonplussed with the amenities including no pool and no complimentary breakfast.

Yelp
Covid-19 precautions: The hotel locks the door and only guests have access inside with their room card. I appreciated them keeping the number of non-guests low for our safety. Sanitization: I did not see anyone sanitizing the hotel while I was there. I sprayed the elevator button with disinfectant and the dried up disinfectant was still there. No one sprayed and disinfected the frequently touched elevator buttons. The rooms have no amenities for guests (this was fine for us). Just the remote, phone, hair dryer, and fridge were in the room. They did not leave any alcohol wipes to wipe down the frequently touches items like other hotels did. Room: The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious, and the staff is very friendly. I would return to the hotel, but not during Covid.

Yelp
Lodging here turned out to be such a mixed bag. 4 stars for the friendly staff 4 stars for the comfortable bed 4 stars for a fairly well equipped fitness center 4 stars for the rain shower 3 stars for the continental breakfast that offered a decent assortment of pastries and fruit but was rather pricey 1 star for the ridiculously small closet (barely enough for 2 people) 1 star for the sliding glass bathroom door that was so hard to open and close... and allowed way too much light to shine through at night when others were trying to sleep

Yelp
Excellent service! Clean and convenient to everything you want in downtown Portland They provided valet services, and coordinated a fedex shipment for me as well.

Yelp
So I am leaving this for my sister who came to visit and stayed here. As they were checking in someone came down and said that there room was not cleaned. Low and behold, the first night that they stayed, no room clean. This is not because they were in said room, we were out he entire day. Sibling went downstairs to ask why and see if anything could be done and was basically met with a sorry. I've been in hospitality, and instead of saying sorry, it should have been met with some kind of a response. At this point my sister wanted to burn this place down (metaphorically of course) and was not happy about the first day of their stay. To make up for their crap service, they offered them two coffees. Wow big spender of a hotel. My friend and I came to visit the next day and as we were leaving, had to use the restroom. I'm super observant and was in the industry for a long while, so we were directed to the bathroom downstairs. Noticing conference rooms and the fitness center I thought that the hotel had a somewhat interesting layout. The next day talking with my sister about the hotel, she was shocked to find out that they actually had a gym. She is a frequent hotel patron, and was not impressed that the facility didn't explain the amenities to them. I noticed that they had a breakfast area as well. This is something that hey charge for. Basically a continental breakfast for $30. Swoon. Final day at this place, go to order coffee with he coupons in the coffee area located in the stump in the lobby. Taken it's an espresso bar and Portland we allowed a few minutes. At about the seven minute point and the barista having a endless conversation with a customer regarding milk, we decided to walk across the street and down a little to Starbucks. I didn't even get to the room yet, no storage, just a long platform? Why! Room is freezing at all hours. The elevators require a card, sometimes, erratically, and no one can figure out how to use them. The third elevator basically doesn't work correctly at all since it's a semi freight elevator, and the only way the cleaning crew can access supplies. Don't stay here. It's horrible. Probably the worst of the Marriott brand. I have ranted too long.

Yelp
Stayed here just this past weekend. I absolutely enjoyed my stay here. Good location, cleanliness is a 10/10, the vibe of the place is 9/10, dope little bar and coffee shop. Was provided great service

Yelp
Not impressed and would definitely recommend staying at a different one of the many awesome hotels in Portland. We fly into the area on a late night flight Friday- after arriving to the hotel we were both looking forward to hoping in the shower and cleaning off before going to sleep for the night. Body wash bottle/pump completely empty. Uhg. Minor error but not exactly appealing- I guess these things happen. No big deal. We called the front desk and waited for body wash which never happened. The next morning we put in another order for body wash and went out about our day. We arrived home and to our surprise, still an empty bottle of body wash. We called down to the front desk again and finally it was delivered to our door. The view of our room... sucked to say the least and the pillows were terrible. We will not be back despite the friendly staff.

Yelp
This place is really nice, and the prices aren't necessarily terrible if you keep your eyes open online for a special. They have done a great job building a brand-new hotel from the ground up, and if you're a business traveler, maybe it's worth a stay. But I hit Portland for fun, out of my own pocket, and won't return. Pros Central downtown location Easy, prompt valet service Nice design and construction Super helpful valets and bellboys Cons Insanely hard mattress Indifferent front desk staff Incidentals cost We had an easy check-in; the valet handed over a ticket with a phone number--just text your ticket number when you need your rig. Great system for sure! When we checked out, they beat their estimated 15-minute turnaround by half. Impressive. They were happy to hold our bags for us since we arrived before check-in. We were all grateful for that. We got back late and got our keys no problem. We hit the bar for a nightcap and here's where the costs started piling up. A vodka soda and a shot of scotch were $70. Yikes. Bottles of water in the room turned out to be....$20 for 8 ounces. Charged automatically to your card. Between valet, a nightcap, and water, our bill went up $182. That might be okay if work pays, but out of your own pocket, that gets old fast. And next we see where the costs go from an annoying oversight on my own part to a failure to follow through on theirs. We paid for two king rooms for our group, and only got one room with a king. I sleep on a king every night, and this was definitely a queen--at least 18" narrower than what I sleep on at home. The mattress was super hard, which you get in hotels sometimes, and that's that. But a bed that's smaller than advertised is a serious hassle. The construction of the rooms is nice--minimalist, mid-century modern. Lights tucked under benches, every single item or surface has a purpose. The reading lamps in bed are tiny and unobtrusive. No space wasted on clutter (and the rooms are good-sized). The bathrooms are clean and nice, with a rainhead shower nozzle. Pretty luxurious, without being too cushy about anything. You would think the amenities would justify the price and offset the little hassles, but the lights and thermostat weren't working, and they had to send up a nice kid to mess with them until they were working. We had forgotten stuff in the truck, and they very nicely ran out and got that for us. Great service! Good thing, too, because we would have had no idea where to look for the truck or the keys. When we went to check out, we let them know that we had been mis-assigned to a room with a smaller bed, and the clerk was completely indifferent to the comment. She said "that's a king." I patiently explained the room we were in and how I sleep on a king every night and this was clearly not the same size bed. She didn't even look up from the keyboard, and simply repeated "that room has a king in it." No comment on how they use a different measuring system, or they understand the confusion because sometimes people think the same thing, or any acknowledgement of the possibility that their guests actually know how big the room in their bed was compared to the bed in their room at home, where they sleep every other night. Nothing. Just a view of the top of her head while she hammered away at the keyboard. This indifference was the most startling part, after seeing how nice the valets, bellboys, and bar staff all were. They should be making good cash, working at a place with these prices, so their upbeat demeanors make some sense. It was impossible to understand why the employee in the most visible customer-service position would be the least inclined to actually serve customers (I know that sounds mean, but you know--dealing with the public is the whole job at the front desk). The bellboys nailed it again when I realized I had forgotten a small piece of luggage in the room...and had already left town. They set it aside for me and I picked it up on the way back through town on my way home. So many things went well here. I wish the desk staff and the bed could justify the cost of the place. I love the location and would happily come back--but the hotel competition in PDX is just way too intense to give these guys more money.

Yelp
We had the opportunity to stay at the AC Hotel during our visit to Portland. This hotel is located in Downtown Portland and it's AMAZING. It's in the nice area of Downtown Portland and it's surrounded by trendy restaurants, shopping areas and public transportation. The interior is very modern and clean. Each floor is equipped with their own hydration station (where you can fill out your water bottles) and ice machines. The staff is very friendly. I will definitely be staying at the AC Hotel during my next visit.

Yelp
We are visiting Portland in August. We were interested in staying here and before we made reservations I decided to call the hotel to ask a few questions. NO ONE answered the phone and I got routed and rerouted through the voice recorder. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy member and am so surprised because I normally get really good service. I'm happy there are other Marriott properties in Portland that answer the phone.

Yelp
I've stayed at quite a few AC Hotels and this location is by far my favorite. From pre-arrival to departure, everything were handled very nicely and professionally by every single staff member. I had an opportunity to stay here back in 2018 where I also received exceptional services, and decided to come back. Before my arrival, I called and were ensured that the hotel and the area are safe multiple times and everyone I talked to on the phone were very patient and professional. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone from Valet, Security, and Front Desk staff helped making my stay so wonderful. All those small gestures added up. If I ever in town, I will come back no matter what. You can't go wrong with this location! Highly recommended!!!!

Yelp
I'm from Georgia so this no tax visit to Portland was a treat! The restaurant is somewhat unmarked so you can easily miss it. It's at a busy intersection and makes it hectic for Uber/Lyft/Taxi drivers. The property opened earlier this year so the hotel is in pristine condition. The lobby is decorated very modern and has a huge bar lobby. The coffee shop, bar and restaurant do a room charge so that is very helpful (and dangerous). The gym caps out at 50lbs for free weights and has several cardio machines with an additional multi-workout machine. The food was just okay but I only ate breakfast. The bartenders are very helpful and aim to please. The conference room space was nice and is secluded downstairs near the gym area. The Room! The rooms were so modern and clean but turning on the lights are a little confusing. I had a second floor room so my view wasn't all that great. Good people watching on the street though. Walk in showers and wood floors make this hotel so much fancier than most. I would definitely visit this property again.

Yelp
This hotel was gorgeous! The rooms were modern and contemporary! The hotel staff were super friendly and gave sightseeing recommendation! The hotel had an amazing smell that I fell in love with! If you're in Portland and you're interested in staying at a contemporary hotel- this hotel is great! Look how cute the hotel bar is!

Yelp
I adore everything about this hotel. First, the people. Everyone I've met is accommodating, customer-first, and goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Second, the decor. It's warm, modern, boutique feel. Right up my alley. Third, all of the modern design details: hydration station replaces the stodgy ice machine. Kores bath products replace the random own-brand hotel bath products. Chilled boxed water and glasses replace the room temperature Dasani you get at business hotels. Integrated Netflix/Hulu/etc. on the TV replace old school pay-per view. It feels like they've thought of everything and are proud to give everyone an elevated experience. Finally, everything is stumbling distance. Beautiful cafe (The Slab), bar, and European hot breakfast in the lobby. Then, steps out the door are amazing shopping, restaurants, movies and Portland neighborhoods (the Pearl!) Can I live here forever?!

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. Downtown Portland in general is very walkable and this place is in a great location to take advantage of it. Overall, I recommend staying here if one can afford it. The room has a very modern feel. I came in and it felt like I was in luxury. This is a very big room with great lighting. The place has a ton of outlets with USB charging along with a nice modern flat screen TV. However, pretty much everything is an open space. The closet is very small and most of the items have to be left on the benches. The walls are a little bit of thin as well. I can hear the outside noise pretty well from the door. Parking is very expensive. There are places that are a little bit cheaper if one is willing to walk. I do not recommend renting a car unless you are going somewhere outside of downtown. It's always nicer to have a car as it is more convenient and parking can be found. However, the public transportation here is good enough if one does not like dealing with driving.

Yelp
Ok. COVID is here but this hotel is like camping in downtown. Where to start? 1. Housekeeping does not show up even if requested. We had two nights and three days of linen, trash, and clean up. "We'll have them come between 1 and 3." Returned at 9 PM to the room as we left it. We had to ask for clean towels, coffee fixings, etc. . 2.There are no glasses provided in the bathroom for taking pills, brushing teeth. etc. The cardboard one-use coffee cups don't do it. Had to ask for glasses. 3. The AC can be tricky to operate. There are no instructions in the room. 4. The bar was closed. Some problem with the POS software. 5. The restaurant is closed. Breakfast is catered from miles away. 6. The room has a refer. It's not adjustable. Froze everything in it. 7. No microwave. Why have a refer? Just for drinks? How about meal leftovers. 8. The shower is very slippery. We put a towel down for safety. Could they afford a mat? Check out, no one asked how was our stay. I'd say "It was a daily struggle."

Yelp
Booked this hotel just for one night to attend the Trailblazers vs Lakers game. Check in was easy and location was good for us. Less than 10 minutes from the stadium/anything else we wanted to do. We walked to Luc Lac (Vietnamese restaurant) right next to it at 2am and had some great food with good vibes! I highly recommend checking that place out if you're staying at this hotel. Overall the hotel was clean and modern/minimalistic, but very comfortable. It wasn't extra or "grand" per se. The bed was probably the comfiest bed I've ever experienced at a hotel. Bathroom was modern and nice. The rooms, or at least the room we stayed in, looked exactly like the pictures. We paid about $150 for a king bedroom with a sofa bed, which I felt was a little expensive for what we got so I probably wouldn't stay here in the future if the price was higher than that. It has what you need, nothing more, nothing less. And the only huge downfall is parking, they only offer valet parking at $48 a night (super steep imo). But luckily, there's a parking garage across the street for under $20 a night and plenty of street parking for free overnight!

Yelp
This is strictly an hotel for Millenials. Everything is very stark and high tech. From afar it looks quite impressive. Hardwood floors, not a rug anywhere. Black tiled hand shower. No tub. Square toilet. Soap that looks like a golf ball. No draw space whatsoever. Unfortunately, I'm not under 25: hardwood floors kill my feet, my butt is not square and I arrive with clothing that needs to be stored flat in a chest of draws. I also would like more than one piece of soap. The front desk staff all create an air of efficiency but in my two experiences in trying to solicit information, I was given totally incorrect information. There is no Concierge Lounge here and not a full restaurant. I will look for a comfy hotel next time in Portland. I'm too old for this sort of inconvenience

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel that suits all needs while traveling. The room was nice, the front desk was helpful. The lounge/bar area seemed kind of uninviting and we couldn't figure out the food situation, but dining may have been closed because of the pandemic or construction. But yeah, it's Portland, plenty of amazing places to eat outside the hotel. The hotel was pretty unremarkable overall, even two days later I struggle to remember details for this review, but it served its purpose just fine.

Yelp
Swanky hotel in the heart of downtown Portland with a few quirks. The room is quaint with all of your basic amenities (including a smart TV) but the bathroom door is literally see-through! You can see the toilet and shower from every angle of the room, even with the bathroom door closed, very strange. The bar area is really nice! We received a free drink ticket upon check in where we got to try a Spanish sparkling wine. Skip the hotel breakfast: $16 for a VERY basic continental breakfast, and a "menu" with three options. The menu dishes are small. There is a nespresso machine though. Being in the heart of downtown, it is very easy to walk to everything you need.

Yelp
I am perplexed by all the rave reviews of this place. Those reviews made me book this hotel thinking it would be amazing and in reality it was pretty much a Cortyard by Marriott room with a more modern lobby. I found the room to be clean but very sterile. It was like IKEA meets a college dorm room. Lots of dark colors like beige, dark brown and grey. I get that they were going for a modern/minimalist feel but it was dark and kind of depressing. The bathroom was the only cool part but that was ruined by the fact one light switch controlled all the lights and they were way too bright. It literally was like 2 cars were shining their high beams into the bathroom. There is a walk in glass marble shower with a rainfall shower head with dark brown faux marble. It would have made for a relaxing shower if the bathroom wasn't lit up like a car dealership with all the lights! There was nothing bad about this place ... it was clean, the bed was the same firm but soft memory foam used at Courtyard hotels. It was dark and there was plenty of space to store stuff. It just didn't feel warm or comfortable at all and honestly I couldn't wait to check out. Even the brown curtains and brown sheer curtains made the room dark and dreary during the daytime. Location wise, you can't do much better. It's right in the heart of a safe downtown area. Unlike Seattle or San Francisco where it's not very safe to walk around after dark, Portland seems to do a good job keeping the junkies off the streets at night. You can walk to restaurants and bars. The famous food trucks/stands are a few streets away as is the vastly overrated Voodoo donut. If you are looking for dinner, might I suggest Jake's Crawfish? It's an upscale seafood restaurant. Named one of the top in the US and a little old fashioned in a good way. It's a 10 minute walk. I was surprised how early the city shut down on a Saturday. The hotel lobby bar is beautiful in an old fashioned French cafe kind of way and the drinks are created from scratch so they take a little time to make. The staff of the hotel was the star of the show. The bartenders were great ... the front desk check in staff was awesome giving me good suggestions where to go. The valet guy was great as well. No elite rewards member upgrade for me here and I asked for a high floor room with a view and my room faced a dirty parking lot and boring building and was a mid-level room. I'm very perplexed by all the raves and 5 star reviews. Maybe I'm out of touch with design and 'post-apocalyptic minimalism' is back in. The room felt like a room from a Kubrick movie designed to show a stark cookie cutter future false utopia.
