When my cousin called and said let's hang out, there was no way I was passing that up. First of all, he is genuinely one of the coolest, most positive people to be around. And second, I wanted to show him a little slice of downtown Orlando, which has changed so much in the past ten years. The Sky Bar at the top of the AC Hotel felt like the perfect place to wrap up our already adventure-filled, touristy day. It's a fairly new addition to downtown and the only true rooftop bar in the city, so I was excited to finally check it out.
The views were amazing. You can see the lights of the city, all the highways weaving below, and the whole downtown grid from a completely different angle. The food was medium okay, to be honest. Good presentation, nothing terrible, but nothing memorable either. My cousin ordered a Mezcal cocktail and said it was phenomenal, so seeing him really enjoy himself honestly made me happier than anything else. That's the thing about hanging out with someone who has such a great vibe. Being around positive, happy people makes all the difference, and he's the kind of person I could see myself traveling the world with. The age difference between us is huge, but somehow it doesn't matter at all. Every time we hang out, it ends up being a blast.
The only downside was that happy hour wasn't available on the day we went, so definitely check the schedule if you're hoping to catch it. But overall, the Sky Bar was a fantastic ending to a fun, spontaneous, memory-filled day. And judging by the posters, it looks like their New Year's Eve party is going to be epic, so that might be worth checking out too.
