Exciting New Gulf Coast Eatery Acadian Coast Sets an Opening Date - Eater Houston

"A new Gulf Coast-style seafood and Creole restaurant is slated to open as soon as Halloween weekend. Acadian Coast, at 2929 Navigation Boulevard, is a joint project between John Avila, of El Burro & the Bull barbecue joint and the Henderson & Kane general store, Bruce Gingrich, who brought Memphis’ Corky’s BBQ to Houston, and Chef Jean-Philippe Gaston, known for his work in several Houston kitchens, including Cove and Kata Robata. Acadian Coast’s menu will focus on Gulf Coast seafood, with inspiration from American Creole, Southern US and Canada’s Acadian cuisines, culinary traditions that date as far back as the 17th century. As such, the restaurant’s opening menu will feature historically-inspired seafood and game meat dishes, including a rotating menu of fresh raw oysters, lamb heart carpaccio with balsamic and shallots, duck gumbo and four-bone rack of elk ribs cooked with mushrooms and Diane sauce. In the mornings, Acadian Coast will operate as a bakery and cafe, serving up handcrafted bread, pastries and beignets. The restaurant is planning a tentative opening for Saturday, October 31, thought that date may change. When it debuts, Acadian Coast will neighbor another Second Ward newcomer. Roostar Grill, known for creative banh mis, is opened a third location in the same shopping center at 2929 Navigation earlier this summer." - Brittanie Shey

The Minds That Brought a Memphis Barbecue Icon to Houston Have a Cajun Restaurant in the Works - Eater Houston

"Last week, Squealing Pigs LLC, which brought the Corky’s franchise to Houston, filed an application with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission for a permit for a restaurant called Acadian Coast at 2929 Navigation Boulevard. That’s across the street from El Tiempo and next to taqueria Villa Arcos in a neighborhood that has seen increasing growth since the Houston Metro’s light rail line was expanded east of Downtown. CultureMap reports that the location was originally supposed to house an outpost of Corky’s, but the franchisees changed their minds after seeing flagging success at the Corky’s outpost in Katy, which closed its doors after just 10 months of operation. Permit applications filed with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts indicate that Acadian Coast’s sales tax permit is set to become active on September 1. The new restaurant will focus on Creole cuisine with French influence and tons of wild game, with dishes in the works like a “hybrid of traditional gumbo and chicken and dumplings,” according to CultureMap. Acadian Coast is set to make its debut sometime this fall. Stay tuned for an opening date." - Brittanie Shey

My girl and I were driving around looking for a new place to eat and decided to stop at Arcadian Coast. We didn't really know what to expect but we're glad we stopped. The food was great! The size is amazing for the price. The food was full of flavor and the presentation was beautiful. The oysters are the best I've ever had, they were fat, fresh and delicious. The staff was helpful and attentive. We are definitely going back.

Dinner with the girls! We had an amazing time. Food and service was great. Very good fried shrimp and fish. The collard greens were from granny's recipe book. Red beans and rice were good. Omg the strawberry bread pudding will make you slap yo mamma. Crab cakes were a lil spicy but good. Now the gumbo was salty and the oysters were bland. Overall 95% of what we ordered was great. Live band was the perfect touch.

What a wonderful first time experience!!! Very nice venue, with a wonderful patio. I was told they have live jazz on the weekends. I shall definitely return to experience this. The food was very good. Service was friendly and fast. The menu is a little pricey, but I believe most items were worth it. I had the Ribeye steak. Let me just say...I didn't have to add anything to it. Also, the salad had a Tarragon vinaigrette dressing, also delicious. I stayed away from seafood this trip, but the oysters came with shrimp on the top!!! Dinner companions said they were excellent. So...it seems this will get added to my list of favorite spots to eat.😊

I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to Acadian coast. I am a big fan of Creole food, and I must say they did well. To start the appetizers were really good. The boudin balls were fresh and made with good quality ingredients, and the oysters Rockefeller were also on point. The plates ranged in price from the mid teens to nearly forty dollars. I was particularly impressed by the shrimp and grits. As for the desserts, they may have stole the show. I specifically went in to try the banana foster beignets (which were my favorite), however the bread pudding was the surprise of the night. I'll likely be returning soon.

Waitstaff were very nice, professional, and timely. Even though they were crowded, I was seated immediately. Admittedly, I did have a reservation and I was 10 minutes early. It only took 15 minutes from ordering to get my food, so wait times from ordering to eating are reasonable. It was a bit cold and there were lots of flies (to be expected when a restaurant has an open outdoor patio section), but the ambiance was pleasant, and I rather enjoyed the food. This was even better than some more expensive Creole food I just had in Louisiana (at Louisiana Lagniappe in Baton Rouge to be precise) last week, so I'm VERY pleased with it. I will definitely be back to try more of their beignets!

Great restaurant! Very reminiscent of being in New Orleans. The parking situation was great (easy to find parking). Staff was very friendly. Nice outdoor patio space for enjoying good weather. Music inside was at an enjoyable level (Live musician on patio was being streamed inside). Food was delicious. The shrimp and grits were really tasty. The beignets were pretty good. Service was mostly good, although our waiter disappeared for a while towards the end. Overall, a really good experience. Definitely recommend this place to others.

We went for brunch and ordered crab cakes Benedict, shrimp and grits, alligator sausage and coffee. The food was really flavorful and was beautifully presented. The coffee was delicious. The ambience is great, almost like you are in a different city. We did not have reservations but we easily walked in and sat at the bar and received impeccable service. I would recommend coming here for your creole fix and will be back!

Such a wonderful place! I went with a friend and we were seated quickly at our reserved time. The food was really good and our waitress was wonderful! The beignets are a MUST have I cannot stress this enough. There was also live music which was a pleasant surprise that I really enjoyed. I will definitely be back!
