Yelp
Un-Be-Lieve-A-Ble. Wow. This burger was absolute perfection, so much so, that I had to skip over all the stuff I need to review just to sing it's praises, as I just had it for the first time last night. This place recently landed on Charlotte's Top Places to eat list on Yelp, #23 I think, and I can absolutely see why. This is exactly what a flat top style burger should be, specifically "The Ace" which is what I ordered upon reading the description.
It's a simple place, there's not really any kind of private parking lot, and it's tucked back in a neighborhood with just a couple other spots. GPS will get you there just fine, park along one of the side streets and be mindful you're only allowed to park on one side of the street.
Inside, be ready for the delicious smells. The menu is not extensive, it doesn't need to be. As I said earlier, I ordered the "Ace" which is clearly their specialty. Double patties with melty american cheese, grilled onions, pickles slices, and their "comeback" burger sauce on a brioche bun. I ordered fries with mine, and I think that is the move. These are the very crispy slightly battered kind, which is definitely my favorite. Beer is available, but I just went for a fountain drink. Don't love that everything is a la carte, wish there was a combo available to make it a little cheaper. It was about 16 bucks.
That said. Money well spent. My burger and fries came out fresh and hot after about a 15 minute wait at 8pm. The burger LOOKED perfect. My first bite confirmed that. It was PERFECT. Cheese beautifully melted, patties with a nice brown crust on them, burger neatly assembled, plenty of grilled onion and pickle. Just check my pics, and you'll know I'm right.
I'll be coming back to this place probably any time I have a reason to go to Charlotte, especially after a Panthers game. This place was THE MOVE.
