10 Best Bars and Restaurants for a Taco Tuesday in San Antonio | Eater

"Swanky Ácenar is the brainchild of Lisa Wong (of Rosario’s fame) and Pete Selig, the investor behind ever-popular New American restaurant Biga on Banks. Like its siblings, Ácenar is beautiful on the inside, with atmospheric views of the river, but it also serves excellent variations on Texas regional Mexican dishes. Expect a lot of Gulf seafood influence, as well as San Antonio staples like chiles rellenos and entomatadas (fried stuffed tortillas). The crab tinga tacos, made with Gulf blue crab sauteed with spicy chipotle, are a quirky (and delicious, of course) reinvention of a classic. The creativity carries over into the drinks: Try the Mexican Martini, made with tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and a dash of olive juice, natch. Request it with Cazadores Reposado for the best version." - Vox Creative

Would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting some delicious fresh Mexican food! I would’ve loved to sit on the patio but it was just too hot, instead we chose inside. The host sat us alone in a side room so it was hard to experience the atmosphere but that’s understandable, we had a toddler so I’m glad we didn’t interrupt anyone else’s meal. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the staff was super attentive and kind. Our server did a great job with suggestions and answered all our questions about the menu. I ordered a watermelon marg and it was delicious, fajita combo with shrimp, beef, & chicken. The shrimp were HUGE! Everything came out super quick, hot. Dessert was delicious, can’t wait to go back. I wish I could remember our servers name but he was great, we were obviously sat away from his section and he still made sure everything was prompt & we didn’t feel rushed. Thank you!

I took a visiting cousin from Germany to experience really great Mexican cuisine and we were all well pleased! We started with the tableside guacamole which was perfect with everything added and the onions were a little sweet&chunky which I loved!Serano instead of japalenos made it just spicy enough. The Acenar combo had a cheese enchilada and fajita and great Spanish rice and refried beans. My chicken breast Molé was great as was my husbands chicken enchiladas in a verde sauce. The very fresh and clean tasting margaritas were the frosting on our cake of life! The tajin was a surprise for our fun cousin!!!

Really good place to come eat. Ordered the meat skewers and I got to say that was so tender and delicious. I forgot to even take a picture of the full plate lol Service was absolutely outstanding! Atmosphere is what ever you make of it. It can be an awesome family place while also being used for a fun get together. The food may be a bit on the higher price but got to say was delicious

Google
Fabulous location and really good food. Very standard TexMex fare. The salsa was on point. Very legit. The chips were light and crispy and almost like a baked chip. We ordered the table side guacamole, which was fun 😁. The chips that came with that weren't awesome. Kinda chewy and stale, but still ok. We ordered a couple of quesadillas and several different enchilada plates. All were good. Again, basic standard fare. The dishes we really enjoyed were the shrimp tacos and the chicken molé. Both of those were really good. Service was hit and miss. The server was really nice, gave good suggestions, and got our order in and to the table really fast. Refills were slow in coming and a couple of things we had to ask for several times. When things got busy or stuff got missed, the frustration from our server was obvious and awkward. Overall, we still had a good experience.

Google
The kind of Riverwalk restaurant and bar that exceeds expectations and desire. The jicama tacos - 🌮 shell is made of jicama!! - are incredible, creative, healthy and delicious. Don’t miss out on this tasty option. Drinks are of course excellent as one expects in this setting. And the view of the riverwalk from the second story restaurant is relaxing and fun perspective. The service was great and I would highly recommend this venue over or equal to any other SARW option. Taking a stroll back to the main density south is great but the walk along the river north from Acénar is awesome to take in as well.

Google
We had a great dining experience at Acenar on the Riverwalk! The location is perfect—right along the water with both indoor and outdoor seating that offers a beautiful view of the Riverwalk. We tried the Trés Enchiladas and the Pechuga de Pollo Chipotle, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, and offered a unique twist on traditional Mexican fare. The chipotle sauce on the chicken had the perfect kick, and the enchiladas were rich and satisfying without being too heavy. Service was friendly and welcoming, and we never felt rushed. Acenar is a great blend of casual and stylish—a perfect stop for a relaxing meal in a vibrant setting. Highly recommended if you’re looking for fresh, modern Mexican food in the heart of San Antonio.

Google
This was me and my family’s first time in San Antonio. My dad chose Acenar to eat at and it was amazing! Our server, Jay, had EXCELLENT service. It was one of the first things I noticed. You can tell he puts in a lot of effort into his job, give that man a raise!!!!!!! The scenery was super nice. We went for dinner so it was dark and the dim lit outside patio was super beautiful! The food was sooooo good. I got chicken quesadillas and they were delicious. If I lived in San Antonio, I’d come here allllll the time! Again, Jay needs that raise! I can’t remember if he said his name was just the initial “J” but he was awesome.

Google
One of my favorite meals in San Antonio. Had a late lunch of shrimp tacos there. Service was fast, the food was fresh and good, the portion was generous. The atmosphere inside was nice and very comfortable. It was a bit too hot to sit outside near the River Walk when I visited.

Yelp
First time in San Antonio from the SF Bay Area. Skipped the Bbq for Mex. This place was great. Food, service, and ambiance. It's right on the Riverwalk, so it was a beautiful walk from the hotel. The pork tenderloin was really tender and flavorful. Gotta get the fried oysters on a bed of fresh fried potato chips with mango pesto salsa. My wife got the vegetarian tacos and it was super rich in flavor. Price was surprisingly low. High value. Definitely coming back next time in San Antonio.

Yelp
this place is GOOD LOVE THAT they have vegan options Also, the outdoor patio is nice My company does lots of business meetings here too for out of towners Solid choice for Mex food on river walk PSA I really don't like most river walk restaurants, but this is a winner.

Yelp
Service is great. Happy Hour in the bar only. Tortillas were a let down. We went for late night happy hour. Fast service. HH: $8.50 for certain apps Beef Alambres - 100% Queso de la Casa - Great Queso, not enough chips & could be better Jicama Shrimp Tacos - Love the shrimp & slaw - tortillas were meh $7.50 Margarita - did the job Main: $20 Short Rib Tacos This was highly recommended. A little too watery. Only 1 corn tortilla for each taco and should have been cooked longer.

Yelp
We went here for dinner on a Tuesday night. It was close to the hotel and we did not feel like driving anywhere, so we walked a few minutes and found this place on the Riverwalk. Yelp reviews were good so we felt confident in our decision. The menu is pretty big but as Mexican food experts we knew what to focus on. We started with drinks and my Mexican martini was very good. The orice was reasonable, $13.50, so I had two. For food, I had the tres enchiladas with mole and verde sauce. The mole was excellent and the verde even better. Both had deep, developed flavor. The pulled chicken was good quality. I would get that dish again and would recommend. The wife had Chile relleno which is deep fried. It was good but not great. Our server was very attentive at the beginning but as the patio filled up he obviously had his attention divided. Overall, service was fine. The ambience on the patio is very nice, overlooking the river.

Yelp
A stop at a Tex-Mex restaurant was on our itinerary and this one didn't disappoint. The Appetizer Sampler to Share was a good portion and definitely worth trying. All the entrees we got--the Ácenar Combo, the Pechuga de Pollo, the Entomatadas, and the Cabrito--were all well balanced and had tender pieces of meat. Recommend stopping by!

Yelp
Maybe the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Started with a mango margarita and table side guac. Marg just wasn't good, and the guac was flavorless, no other notes other than avocado. Chips brought were stale and had no salt. Put order for food in for a table of four, waited 30 min before waiter came back and asked about another drink. 20 more minutes pass and wrong drink was brought. Waiter than asked if we wanted food, realizing after our answer that we ordered an hour previous. Waiter never put it in! Staff and manager did nothing to remedy the situation and tried denying drink brought was right one. Saw manager arguing with other customers, food brought to other guests also seemed to take forever and portions were small. Avoid this place at all costs

Yelp
This place was recommended by our hotel so we headed here, it was a nice day so we ate outside, there is signage not to feed the birds but they come anyway and find food. The area was large and even had an upstairs patio section outside. You enter at street level and that is the bar and waiting area, you walk downstairs to the host stand and they seat you. Our host was friendly and fast, also I wish I still had our waiter's name the guy was easily the best one we had the whole trip, friendly, took time to explain things, checked up on us without being overbearing and was fantastic. We ordered chips and salsa and he brought an extra bowl of Salsa to make sure we had enough! I got a fajita meal that I have never seen an option for before, it had two kinds of meat, chicken, sausage, and shrimp. It was a amazing mix and all of it was good, the chicken being the weakest which is a surprise as I usually prefer chicken in fajita's. The only weak part was it was one shrimp and one part/piece of Sausage so if you want to mix and match your meats that could work and I may if we return but if you wanted to try a shrimp fajita you were out of luck. A minor issue. The tortilla's (flour for me) were plentiful even for one and I was full after. Shana got crab tacos, she was branching out and trying something she had not before. She loved them and the sides were all pretty good. The rice may have been the weakest but still good. The drinks were solid and as the restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived we enjoyed a slow lunch and the view overlooked the Riverwalk. There really isn't much bad to say which I am happy to report. I do want to add we did return for dessert and a drink, my wife has Raynaud's which they of course don't know but we wanted to sit outside due to that as the inside was very cold which normally would be great but causes pain and flare ups. They said for dessert and drinks we had to sit at the bar and as we didn't want to cause a scene we just left and went somewhere less cold or that would let us sit outside. Again a minor issue but it did sour my thoughts on the place a bit. Still the food, service, drinks, and bird entertainment was otherwise all excellent.

Yelp
We were treated to a work dinner. It's a great restaurant with a beautiful view of the River if seated outdoors. We were seated indoors on 1st floor. It's a pretty large restaurant. From the outside, it doesn't appear as big. My favorite part was walking in and being greeted by the bartender, as the bar is the first approach!! Loved it!! You can also enter from the River Walk which is very cool. It was a work dinner and it was fabulous. The service and food were amazing! We weee a group of 16 .We were definitely the waiter's priority. He was right on it. My main entrée was the fresh gulf fish with cilantro rice. It was delicious!! I ate the entire dish. Music was great. I had wish I could have heard it downstairs. Had a great time! I would recommend this business.
google avatar

Christine W.

Yelp
The entrance makes more sense if you are coming in from the riverwalk as the host stand is on the lower floor. If you enter from the street. You would think it's just a bar! I had the pork tenderloins and a coconut margarita. It was a tasty meal and service was as expected.
google avatar

Tammi B.

Yelp
Go for Happy Hour specials, stay for the excellent food. Had the blood orange margarita and the queso for starters then the spare rib tacos for my entree. Service was top notch! David, our server was very attentive and had a fun sense of humor. The vibe was upscale but welcoming.

Yelp
Terrible fast food Greek cheep ingredients careless flavor seed canola oil central. Terrible
google avatar

Sherry S.

Yelp
Outside patio is nice. Of course it is. It's the river walk Inside not really to my taste but the food sure was. The chicken flautas were crisp and delicious with fresh poco and guacamole to ensure every bite was delicious. Would love to come back and try more
google avatar

Yelp
The food was great and the prices were good. I had a fish tacos and they were delicious. Ambiance was nice and service was fast, I would recommend this place.

Yelp
I sat at the bar which is right in the front, but the establishment had plenty of tables. It has a trendy feel, and looked clean. I just missed happy hour, ending at 5:30. I decided to just order a beer and their guacamole for two. Well they weren't kidding, I by myself could not finish it. The guacamole was good, but the chips held a bit more greasy than I care for. The service was great though, both bartenders continuously checked on me and made sure I was satisfied.

Lorenzo A.

Yelp
Everything was great! Our server was super friendly and attentive. The beef alambres were so tasty, and the chicken flautas hit the spot. My girl and I shared the fajitas for two--they came with a little bit of everything, and the portion was huge. All the meats were juicy and full of flavor. The margaritas were also great! Definitely planning to come back!

Yelp
I'd been searching for this restaurant for a while. It was one of those we stumbled upon while staying on the Riverwalk years back, and I just couldn't remember the name. I'm so glad I found it after a recent stay in the city. I wanted to seafood enchiladas. They are so hard to find and I remember this place having really good ones, so you already know what I ordered. They are filled with both shrimp and crab, and they didn't disappoint this go around either. I was told the sauce is house made, and it's perfect on top of these enchiladas. Rice and Beans were good as well. I don't know how I missed getting a photo... blame my hunger (and greed)! My only gripe is you have to pay for chips and salsa (Huge BOO), but they were good. Overall prices are good compared to other restaurants in the area and yeah, I'll be back.
google avatar

Melinda L.

Yelp
For the fish lovers, they have dishes with snapper, mahi mahi and tilapia. I usually avoid catfish, tilapia or swai. Tried their snapper, rice and vegetables dish. Really good and hit the spot. No complimentary chips and salsa were served here. Service and ambiance were good.
google avatar

Benjamin B.

Yelp
We were in town for a work conference and veered further down the river to hit up dives. But everywhere we wanted to eat was closed or the wait was long. And most of the spots on the main area were all to touristy. I don't know much about Tex mex but living in the mission and San Diego has me spoiled. So I was surprised by how decent the food was. I've had better salsa and can make some pretty legit dishes but they put some passion into this. The gauc was fresh and plenty. The chips house made are great. The tres enchilada dish was a lot of food. But the mole was decent. The chicken verde was really good. Service and atmosphere was very fun too.

Yelp
This visit wasn't the same as others.... Food was only so so...I ordered a crab tinga, which surprisingly tasted the way I thought it would... it just didn't impress me that crab and tinga should go together. Presentation of the tacos was pretty clean though. We arrived and were seated immediately. I don't know if it would be the same on a day when there is a show next door at the Majestic or during a big river parade, but... we were seated and our server brought us water and took our drink order. Liz stuck with her traditional and favorite chicken mole, and it was good. I think I should have stuck with what I know there too... they used to make a good pork carnitas dish, for instance. I also enjoyed a spicy margarita, it was made well, and has always been a constant with Acenar. They make good drinks. Anthony was an awesome server and took care of every need or concern. If you're going to dine in, you can sit on the veranda overlooking the river, or inside (on a hot day) in the AC. If you're just going to drink the lounge/bar upstairs has a few TVs with sports on. The lounge has a couple of couches that sit across from a bar with bar stools. I would come again, and I probably would try something new... but this time I didn't, and I was left wanting. I'm sure we will come back.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and great pricing for being on river walk. I am from SA and tend to stay away from the tourist areas but the food and drinks were great. Muy try the sangria!
google avatar

John J.

Yelp
Great service and friendly, hostess and bartender. Very welcoming. Tables on the patio with a view of the river are very nice, but beware of the birds. The fried oysters on chips (nacho like) were incredibly delicious. Highly recommend them. I also highly recommend the queso de La Casa. It was honestly the best queso I have ever had. Very flavorful with a very minor kick. Homemade chips accompany. The seafood enchiladas got rave reviews. I thought the Carnita fajitas were OK. They were pretty dry quite honestly. I was so looking forward to them from the last time, but they weren't at the same level. The stuffed chili relleno was good as well. Going with five stars because the only downside were the Carnitas and they were so good the last time.

Tai S.

Yelp
Service was horrible. Staff was overwhelmed and bitchin at each other and customers that someone decided to call in and quit. I felt bad but wanted to just order a drink and leave and not stay to order food anymore.
google avatar

Mrs L.

Yelp
We went here twice because it was near our hotel. The guacamole is really good! Get that for the table. The three enchiladas with the different sauces is really good. I enjoyed it with a Topo Chico. The churritos is celebratory and feels like such a treat. Bread pudding is good, and very buttery. Patio seating is the best. Service is super friendly. Gilbert is a great waiter- super friendly and fun.
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
So good we can't wait to visit again in May. They handle large parties well and the food is delicious. Service was quick and attentive. The patio overlooking the river was lively with plenty to see.

M B.

Yelp
So good!! The drinks and food were reasonably priced and yum! We will come back next time in town. Good service too.

Yelp
We joined a huge group here for 2 friend's birthdays (It's Terry Brown & Mary Jo's birthday!!!!!). The place lost our reservation but were pretty quick (20 mins) in setting up 2 tables by each other. We were happy. Our poor waiter was thrown at us with virtually NO help from the other servers. He did a really great job, kept his cool during all of the chaos that was the dinner. We ordered queso & guacamole for the tables which kept us happy until our dinner arrived. The queso was creamy & pipin hot; the guacamole was a bit on the bland side. I had the grilled fish tacos & was very happy with my choice. The hot sauce they served was different than what is served with the chips & definitely had more of a kick that went well with the fish. The corn tortillas were so freakin good! I even made a black bean taco with a corn tortilla. Located right off the riverwalk, this place was easy to find. Good good, excellent service.
google avatar

R A.

Yelp
I've been coming here forever and will continue to for *dinner*, but I wish I'd read a review about their happy hour appetizer specials before I wasted $8.50 on 4.5 nachos. The drink specials are great, but skip the food. The HH apps are TINY, and even if you get 2 (and spend $17), it's still not equivalent to 1 regular appetizer (nachos for example) for $13. Very disappointing that they'd employ a "scheme" like this to make you think you're getting a deal.
google avatar

Steve G.

Yelp
Was here for a large group gathering for work. Good eats and great service. We had a smaller menu to choose from and everyone enjoyed what they ordered.

Yelp
My husband and I came in for an early dinner on New Year's Eve. We were happy they did not have a set menu, like many of the reservations in downtown by the riverwalk for NYE, because these often do not have vegetarian items. We were seated promptly inside but still by a window to see the river walk. Chips and Salsa are not complimentary like most Tex Mex restaurants but we wanted them anyway. The fire roasted salsa did taste good but it wasn't amazing and the chips did not taste fresh but we appreciated the unique presentation. The food on the other hand was amazing! I will come back if not just for the vegetarian relleno!! The sauce was so flavorful and the jullianed vegetables were perfectly cooked but still had a bite. The white rice was perfectly cooked and the beans were tasty (both without lard, chicken stock, or bacon). My husband liked the mushroom and squash fajitas and he got full pretty quickly. We also enjoyed the chocolate mousse cake with the sides of fruit. The waiter was attentive and kind and even asked us about our visit. We were celebrating our 1 month wedding anniversary so we really appreciated the service and the food! Previously we had a stance to never eat at restaurants on the riverwalk, due to past experiences, but we will absolutely come back to Acenar.
google avatar

Brandon Z.

Yelp
This place is about a block off the river walk. Sort of a strange vibe. You enter off the street into the bar and go down a flight of stairs into the restaurant. It is very orange with kind of spotty lighting and pictures of colorful deserts on the wall. The service was good. Our waiter helped with selections. I had the skinny margarita. It was tasty, but seemed kind of small. We started with the chips and queso. The chips were a little greasy, the queso was not my favorite. My friend enjoyed them. I had the spicy shrimp plate. That was awesome. All and all, we enjoyed the dinner.
google avatar

Kelley L.

Yelp
I've got alot of pink and orange colored memories. Some of the best memories made here with my family celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. One of the most beautiful restaurants. The fresh table side handmade by a server guacamole, the plate of cookies, the memories of the best years of my youth were here.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
This was my first experience with Texmex food for my first time in Texas and was slightly disappointed. The food here was okay and I didn't really taste anything that I wouldn't back home in Seattle. We got the table side prepared guacamole which was interesting to see but the guacamole itself was just okay. Food I ordered the grilled chicken fajita and it was good overall. The chicken was a little dry but the grilled vegetables helped to bring juice into the fajita. See my picture for the portion for 1. We got the table side prepared guacamole and was disappointed overall. It was fun to watch the process but the guacamole was still a little plain in my opinion. We got the mild and spicy levels of the guacamole but they were nearly the same level of spicy. As a table we ordered the roasted salsa (very good) and chips, queso flameado, and ceviche. The appetizers were all pretty good. Atmosphere The interior is modern, simple, and has piñata hanging throughout. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I was seated indoors with a party of 7 at a round table with a decent amount of space for everyone. It was very loud inside though because the floors and walls would just bounce off noise. In addition there were several families with children that were loud and crying. Pricing The prices were reasonable for Mexican food and I think were fair for the food we got. Service Service was good overall and food came out quickly. We had a large group and they got everything without any problems. Other Located at the very edge of the Riverwalk where there are restaurants. There is also a street level entrance to their bar, which connects to the restaurant.
google avatar

Alexis G.

Yelp
Always a great place to eat Down on the riverwalk. Staff is always super friendly and the ambiance is great. Highly recommend sitting on the outside patio of the weather is nice. Food is delicious and I would recommended the table side guacamole!
google avatar

Anthony R.

Yelp
We hang out close to this place on a regular basis, so we decided to check it out. Started with a sangria and spicy margarita. Both were pretty good. Ordered the appetizer sampler. The beef on a stick was really tender. Quesadillas were good too. For entrees, we got the mole enchiladas and pork tenderloin. Great place to eat right on the riverwalk. Our server was great also. Check it out!
google avatar

Edward S.

Yelp
Acenar is an excellent Mexican restaurant on the riverwalk. We ate inside because it was hot out, but there are also a lot of seats outside. I started with the frozen melon margarita. Given we had been walking for a while in the heat, it was perfect. For appetizers, we had guacamole for two and the Alambres (mini skewers). You definitely need to get the guacamole. They make this table side and it is outstanding--worth visiting just for this. The beef skewers were really good also, with perfect seasoning. For the main course, I had the parilladas--a mix of the skirt steak and carnitas, then also a mix of flour and corn tortillas. They are kind of like fajitas, but so much better. The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly, particularly the pork. The tortillas were really good also, clearly fresh. I think I like the corn a little bit better. My partner ordered the fish tacos and loved them. For dessert, we got the churritos. I know this might seem ordinary, but these were so delicious with three great sauces. I think the chocolate was the best. Acenar is definitely worth a visit. They also seem to have a nice bar.

Jon W.

Yelp
Visiting San Antonio for the first time in years so we really wanted to experience the riverwalk and dinner on the patio at Acenar's was perfect! Easy reservation and pleasant staff were great but the food and atmosphere was fantastic! Good frozen margaritas too! We will definitely go back!

Caroline S.

Yelp
Shocked by these positive reviews. A friend and I came last night and had an awful experience. We ordered queso and guacamole to start. We were not offered chips or tortillas to eat with the queso or guac and had to ask our server multiple times for silverware settings, plates and chips. When we were done with our appetizers, she said she would bring our check if we wanted and when we said, no we wanted to order entrees she seemed surprised. We ordered beef fajitas for two, they were dumped on our table by a different waiter and then we waited 15 minutes to try and get someone's attention to bring us new utensils, plates, tortillas etc. The fajitas also appeared cold. We never got any of the things we were waiting for and ended up just paying the bill and leaving. Wishing we went to any one of the other riverwalk restaurants instead
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
The food was average, the margaritas were basic and the overall ambiance was simple. For the price we expected more. Everything was good we just had higher expectations coming from a different restaurant on the River Walk the night before with the same prices. Our server was amazing and the staff was genuinely kind. It is also notable that the chips and salsa is not complementary like typical restaurants.
google avatar

Joyce T.

Yelp
I found this place to be refreshing Mexican with a twist. It was different from what I have had in Milwaukee so it was a nice change. I had the stuffed tortillas and really enjoyed the flavor. The service was prompt and attentive. Not a traditional looking Mexican restaurant. I found it to be modern and cozy. It is also on the river walk.
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
Our waiter John was perfect! His recommendations allowed us to enjoy an amazing dinner! We are visiting from Virginia and wanted to eat an authentic meal and this place did not disappoint! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Amazing food. Great drinks. Excellent service! Every time I'm in San Antonio. I visit more than once.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service, food is very good, even great compared to other Riverwalk offerings. My wife loves the soup and I usually enchiladas with chicken and mole. Looking forward to branching out trying some of the seafood choices on the menu.

Yelp
Short rib tacos- 5 stars Table side guacamole- 5 stars Appetizer sampler- 5 stars Service - 5 stars I was in a big group and the service was great.
google avatar

Mark K.

Yelp
Service was so slow a group of us left, out of a table of 15. Now I know big groups are hard to work with but even then it took 15 minutes to get bottled beer. Family friendly. Looked like good food but I wouldn't know.

Yelp
My hubby and I were in the San Antonio River Walk area during spring break. We only had one night so we wanted to explore a few different options in the area and were in the mood for Mexican food. We went to Acenar for a quick appetizer and the service and food were great. The server noticed right away that the table was very wobbly and fixed it without us even having to say anything. We ordered the appetizer sampler plate to share and most of the items on it were great! We really loved the beef alambres... delicious! The flats were good and authentic. The quesadillas were fine and could've been a little more flavorful. Overall, we really enjoyed the ambiance, food, and service here!

Yelp
If you are looking to dine "on the river walk" this place IS NOT IT. it is NOT "on the river walk.Could've given one star, but at least some of the food was ok. But here's the breakdown: - service was ok. - ambiance was ok. Sat on the patio to sit "by the river walk" but actually saw nothing. - food was a little bit above mid Had a good waiter but kept disappearing. We had ordered guacamole for two which is supposed to be served/prepared table side and the waiter outsourced it? It was NOT prepared table side and was brought to the table in a small, pathetic bowl and tasted like nothing. We ordered the fish tacos and the snapper dish, which were at least decent.

Yelp
Went after Wicked on Sunday afternoon with a group of friends total of 6 of us. We were seated quickly and served water, I ordered iced tea, which was weak. One person ordered coffee, and the waiter said he was making a fresh pot. We ordered chips and salsa as the waiter walked away, he said, chips and salsa, queso and someone said yes so to his credit, he brought 6 bowls of salsa and 2 containers of chips. We told him no queso, and he seemed to be bothered. He took our orders, but my friend ordered Tacos a la parrilla, and he repeated parillada. She corrected him, and again, he made a face. Food came out, and all looked good except for the tortilla soup. It appeared like a tomato bisque and was extra salty with cubes of cheese, not melting, and soup was lukewarm at best. Freddy, the waiter, only refilled a couple of water glasses and never made his way back. One of us had to go ask for the checks, which he brought out a single check. When we told him we were separate, he left and came back with the bills, never looked at any of us, took our payments and returned with the cards and slips and acted as if he was going to slam them on the table but instead dropped them in a heap. It was not a pleasant meal, nor was the service good. I had to tell him about the soup, and he didn't even offer an alternative. He told me we won't charge you for it. That was great, but 1 of us left hungry. I never received an offer for tea refill, so I was a little bothered by that. Definitely not what I expected from this place, especially with their prices, but again, we weren't tourists, so maybe that was the issue. Not going to spend my money on a place like this

Yelp
Great location, good food and drinks, excellent staff. This restaurant is located on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. The restaurant is festive, perfect for large groups, and has wonderful views of the Riverwalk. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My waiter made excellent suggestions and had a good conversation with us. It was the early part of the evening and it wasn't too busy. The waiter took his time and made us feel warmly welcomed. For appetizers, we tried the queso, salsa, guacamole, and chips. For entrees, we had chicken chalupas, enchiladas, and fajitas. The waiter accommodated one of my friends by making him a steak quesadilla, which was not on the menu. That was awesome of him to do. The food was excellent. The only complaint was the Guacamole, it was a tad bit salty and very small, and I prefer homemade chips instead of tostitos. One of the enchiladas had mole, and it was the best I have ever tried. I never liked mole until last night. The margaritas were also freshly made and absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert. I really wanted to try the Tres Leches. Maybe next time. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot if your are looking for good Tex Mex.

Yelp
We had a delicious meal with great service. I had the enchiladas verde and my wife had the brisket tacos. We escaped the San Antonio heat by eating inside a sleek and modern space. Recommend!
