The 38 Best Restaurants in Barcelona

"From restaurateurs Majid and Mani Alam along with Bilal Khan, Achaar Bar is part of the growing roster of restaurants under the Alam Brothers umbrella. Their latest is an Indian canteen and natural wine bar named for the ubiquitous South Asian pickled vegetable condiment (which they make in-house). The menu spans the breadth of India, as well as adding in some Pakistani favorites like the Lahori samosa, a nod to the Alam brothers’ Punjabi roots. The 150 natural wines on offer have been curated by sommelier Irene Cavall to pair excellently with the bold seasoning, heat, and aromas of dishes like tandoor-roasted lamb chops, spicy coconut prawns, Madrasi vegetables, and Goan fish curry. This kitchen cranking out aloo paratha and palak pakoras has breathed new life to a space that was once an old warehouse, embracing the stripped-down post-industrial aesthetic that is omnipresent in Poblenou, a district akin to the Brooklyn of Barcelona. Order as much as you can; the menu isn’t huge, so with a handful of friends you might be able to try it all, and you’ll be happy you did." - Sam Zucker

The most authentic tasting Indian food I’ve had in Barcelona so far (Source: Me - Indian person living in Barcelona). Not only is it just authentic , it is delicious. Also unlike most restaurants that take obscure sounding names for their restaurants, they actually serve their namesake Achaar. It’s a good achaar as well. We had the malai kofta, spicy prawn curry, with a healthy amount of garlic and garlic cheese naan. We also had fried okras and pani puri for starters and a delicious kulfi for desert. The service was very good and we felt very welcome with the friendly and prompt service. Will come back soon. Can’t wait

Overall, the food was good and the lamb was absolutely delicious—definitely the highlight of the meal. The naan was just okay, and the chicken tikka masala wasn’t as creamy as expected—maybe just their style. Portions were on the smaller side, but the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially since I came without a reservation. Great service!

It’s one of the trendy places where the food is good but the portions are small. In Indian restaurants, rice is usually served with the dishes, but here everything is extra: rice, bread, etc. They serve kombucha like wine — in very small quantities, less than 100 ml. Everything was tasty and the service was good, but I don’t feel like coming back.

The Kheema Pav here reminds you of what you get in Mumbai. Best thing on the menu. The pakoras were good as well. We had to ask for chat masala to go with it and the taste just multiplied. Rest of the veg fare was okayish.

Absolutely incredible experience! The food was bursting with flavor, the wine was perfectly paired, and the highlight of the evening was the outstanding service from Artem. He was attentive, warm, and went above and beyond to make our night special. Couldn’t have asked for anything more — thank you, Artem ☺️

We went to Achaar to celebrate my daughter’s 19th birthday. Amazing food, especial mention to chicken tikka masala which was mind blowing, lovely service and good bohemian atmosphere (very Poblé Nou). Chai latte ice cream was also fantastic. You may pair with selected natural wines

We enjoyed our meal. They have a wide range of wine options. Service was great; our server was very kind and helpful as we didn’t know which wine to go for. Trendy vibe if you want to go for a modern Indian restaurant.
