12 Hotels That Tell the Story of the Greek Islands

"Perhaps inspired by similarly situated dwellings on the island of Santorini, Acro Suites brings cliffside romance and carved-rock drama to the north coast of Crete. This adults-only resort-style luxury boutique hotel is the smaller and more reserved sister to the Sea Side Resort, right next door — an arrangement that allows Acro Suites’ guests to use Sea Side’s substantial facilities, but not the other way around." - Mark Fedeli

We stayed here last week and had a wonderful time. ||Akrotiri is a quieter village on the island with beautiful Caldera views. Theres a few local, good restaurants, a couple of gift shops and markets. A public transport bus runs from 9am - 8pm going to Fira. The village is suited for people wanting to relax and be in a quieter area. ||Acroterra was a fantastic hotel. The staff were always so friendly and helpful. ||We stayed in room 105 which was a great, big room. It is situated above the bar and sometimes we'd hear some noise from below, but would never carry on throughout the night. ||The breakfast each morning was great. The staff would ask if you'd like cooked eggs. Great variety of cereal, fruits, vegetables, pastries, hot selection and breads.||The pool was relaxing. Always somewhere to lounge and the views were stunning. The pool is cold, very cold, so we would only have short swims in the afternoon. It was a refreshing dip. ||We only ate at the restaurant the night we arrived and had a salad and pizza, which were nice. ||Reception helped us hire a car for the day. The car hire bring it to the hotel and collect from here too. We found this very useful. ||Dont forget the climate tax you have to pay at the end of your stay. It is a 5 star hotel meaning you pay the highest rate of €15 a day during high season. ||Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel. If you can book one of the rooms with the full sea views, maybe the private pool or jacuzzi, we wish we could of got one of those rooms but were still very happy with ours.

A charming and intimate boutique hotel, with spacious and well-equipped rooms offering sea views, spotless and perfectly clean. The service is outstanding, with a kind and lovely staff that makes you feel truly welcomed. For those seeking complete peace and quiet, this is the perfect place. The design experience is modern yet infused with authenticity, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels both stylish and genuine. Even the music in the hotel was perfectly chosen and kept at just the right volume – ideal for sensitive guests like me. There are several excellent restaurants in the area, and the hotel’s own restaurant is also delicious. The location is about a fifteen-minute drive from the big city. There’s no direct access to the beach, but overall we had a perfect experience.

My husband and I returned from the beautiful Santorini and this stunning hotel last night and all we can say is wow! From the moment we arrived the staff were so attentive ( a special shout out to the lovely lady on reception, I think her name was Kate. She was fab. Nothing was too much trouble). As were all of the staff in the restaurant/pool area. This hotel is high quality. The suites are well appointed- we had a superior suite with caldera view. 👌even though there was a little noise from the road when you were sitting on the terrace, you could easily block it out. And it definitely didn’t affect our enjoyment of the hotel- especially when we had the stunning view of the Caldera. We loved that the hotel was small enough that you felt welcomed every time you went for breakfast/lunch etc. The staff would greet you with how was your day yesterday, do you have any nice plans today etc etc. It's also a short 5 minute walk into the beautiful little village of Akrotiri and there were enough restaurants/bars there to keep us occupied for a week. But we also ate in the hotel for lunch and dinner on occasion and it was really good quality and not too expensive. To sum up. We loved this hotel. We’d have no hesitation in recommending it or in returning. Well done alll and thank you for making our trip so special. Amanda and Joe. Room 208.

We chose this hotel as we didn't want to stay in the main towns and wanted somewhere a bit quieter and we were not disappointed with the choice. It is situated just a five minute walk into Akrotiri village where there are bars and restaurants. You can also catch the local bus in the village to go to visit Fira and Oia, costing 2 euros each journey, running all day. We visited both of the towns which were much busier due to the cruise ships but still lovely places to explore. From the hotel you can walk to the Venitian Castle of Akrotiri where you get great views across the landscape, and it has a very traditional cafe at the top where you can get much needed refreshments after the walk up the hill! The hotel itself has a lovely pool and lots of sunbeds which we used daily. The breakfast is buffet style with hot and cold choices and lovely coffee. We ate at the hotel restaurant twice during our stay and both time the food was delicious. The bar serves great cocktails too. The complimentary wine in the room is a lovely touch and very tasty, we actually bought more while we were there. Bottles of water are provided daily too. Our room was lovely with a small balcony which overlooked the Caldera, spacious and very clean with a good shower room. But the best part of our stay were the amazing staff, so friendly and helpful, always on hand if you needed anything, a credit to the hotel. We would highly recommend staying here if you prefer to stay out of the big towns but with everything easily accessible .

We came to Santorini for our honeymoon and couldn’t have had a better experience. The staff was amazing along with the manager as well. Dimitris was the perfect host for anything that was needed. From recommendations around the island or for delicious food options. Staff assisted in airport pickup along with many options of possible things to do on the island. Our room was fantastic and there was plenty to do close by. Red Beach, the town of Fira, and a boat excursion was three of our favorites. Although with how good the food and drinks were along with staff and accommodations, we really didn’t need to go anywhere. We will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone looking for the perfect piece of paradise in Santorini

Situated in a quiet location with breathtaking views of the caldera if you have a sea facing room. During our stay the winds very extremely high and although we had a sea facing room, we could not make use of the balcony because of the high winds. There was a very disturbing noise coming from something above our room as well and upon informing reception the manager came to see the room and offered us an alternative room. ||The alternative room which was also sea facing had even better views of the caldera. You could just sit on the couch in the room and stare out at the sea! The resort has the best bedding I have ever slept in. ||The staff at this place are a real asset and cannot do enough for you. They score top points for service, they are absolutely brilliant. Housekeeping is very efficient too. ||Breakfast was truly Mediterranean, we have travelled around the world and have been very accustomed to having a large variety of options during breakfast so it took a day or so to get used to the offering here. ||Now to the improvements that can be made, we didn’t have a kettle in the room on the day we arrived. It is the first hotel I have been to where no kettle was in the room. However a quick phone call sorted this out together with a coffee machine in the room. Each morning house keeping would take the used cups and glasses, however these would not be replaced. Small things like this matter when you are a truly 5 star resort. Guests should not need to call to have cups/glasses replaced. If the small detail can be improved upon this place is faultless.

We spent a week holiday at this lovely boutique hotel, from the moment we checked in, we were looked after by the staff. The entire hotel is clean, well looked after, all the staff are friendly, smiley and very helpful. We had a pleasant stay and made a new friend, Michael the bar tender. Thank you for a pleasant, relaxing and wonderful break.
