Ad Lib Bangkok | Best places to stay in Bangkok

"Sandwiched between a big international hospital and a hum-ho stretch of Sukhumvit Road, Ad Lib’s location might not have a lot going for it. Yet, this savvy boutique hotel masterfully turned its plot at the dead end of a residential cul-de-sac into an oasis of lush greenery and contemporary design. Shaded by banyan trees, its 58 rooms are snug but comfortable and come with a handy smartphone to take around town. Guests can also use the complimentary shuttle service to reach the Phloen Chit BTS Skytrain station, while a dip in the gorgeous saltwater rooftop pool is a welcome treat after a day in the Thai sun. Wow! From the beautiful jungle aesthetic, to the incredible breakfast and lovely staff, this place was just perfect for our stay in Bangkok. The hotel is tucked away on a quiet street, but still very accessible to all the party zones and a beautiful park to walk through. The train is also very close. Our room was thoughtfully laid out with a great outdoor area. The bed was comfortable, shower was great and the outdoor jacuzzi tub was such a treat….but nothing compared to the breakfast they had in store for us. Delicious fruit, juices, coffee. Traditional Thai breakfast, as well as any type of cooked eggs you can imagine. The breakfast really blew my mind! 11/10!! Everyone is so kind, and helpful. Don’t hesitate to book your stay at Ab lib, you won’t regret it!! Khop Khun kâ !!!!!

Absolutely highly recommend this Oasis. Everything about this place was amazing. We had room that had a terrace and I enjoyed the extra spacing the early hours overlooking the ent range with the beautiful trees There is a ramp if you happen to arrive when a bellhop is not available. Someone made a comment about the stairs I guess they didn’t notice the ramp. Breakfast was delicious and varied for Asian cultures and European interests. They were even so thoughtful to put a humidifier in our room. Since this was the start of our trip we did ask for one on other hotels. They do not miss a beat. Everything about this sta was perfect

Ad Lib Bangkok is a very convenient place to stay, especially if you’re visiting Bumrungrad Hospital. The location is excellent, with easy access and plenty of parking available. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making the stay relaxing and hassle-free. The food at the restaurant is delicious, and the staff are attentive and very quick with their service. The overall atmosphere is warm and inviting. It’s also extremely easy to travel back and forth to the hospital, which makes it a great choice for anyone coming for check-ups or medical appointments. Overall, a reliable and pleasant stay, convenient, tasty, comfortable, and supported by fast, friendly service. Highly recommended!

Really beautiful rooms. Helpful staff and great location. Peaceful even though you're close to the main drag. Definitely book directly with the hotel rather than through third party websites. We did this and when our plans changed (we stayed for 1 less night) they provided us with a credit which we were able to use on a room upgrade, food, laundry and massages. Only available if you book directly though.

We arrived much earlier than the check-in time and waited in the lobby as we were tired from an early flight. Although the room wasn’t ready yet, the hotel kindly upgraded our room due to the wait — which we truly appreciate, even though it wasn’t their fault. The service and overall experience have been excellent. The hotel has a relaxed, quiet atmosphere and feels more personal compared to larger commercial hotels. I would like to specially compliment Nok from the restaurant (I believe she is the manager). My lunch and breakfast experiences with her were outstanding — she manages her team with such professionalism and warmth. On my last day, she happened to be off, and I could genuinely feel the difference in service quality. I rarely write reviews unless the experience is either exceptionally good or bad. This time, it’s definitely for the best reason. I even took the effort to ask the front desk for her name so that the management knows how wonderful she is.

This was my 6th stay at Ad Lib since 2017, and unfortunately the experience is going downhill.||Room (Deluxe Plus King):|The bed was comfortable, but there was no view, facing the back of the hotel with a metal grill outside the window for climbing plants. I was on the 3rd floor, which was manageable, but rooms on the 1st or 2nd floor would likely get very little natural light. There are no USB charging ports, noticeable noise from neighbouring properties, and the open-plan vanity layout isn’t great. Shower and WC are separate. There was also an occasional sewage smell from the shower.||Breakfast:|A big disappointment. The previous à la carte breakfast (which I enjoyed in earlier stays, including 2024) is gone. It’s now replaced by a noodle bar and pancake station, with pancakes often left sitting cold. The buffet looks decent at first glance, but choices are limited and underwhelming. À la carte was far better.||Worst experience:|I was given a complimentary drinks voucher and clearly told at check-in that I could use the two drinks on separate days. When I tried to use just one drink at the bar, the staff member insisted both drinks had to be used at once and refused to return the voucher. What should have been a quick, relaxing drink became uncomfortable, and I chose not to take it at all.||General: |Parts of the hotel are showing very obvious signs of wear and tear.||I’ve had good stays here in the past, which makes this more disappointing. Hopefully these issues can be addressed, especially given that the General Manager has apparently left.

After arriving through a crowded dirty back street the first impression of the hotel was impressive with all the foliage. Half expecting to be greeted by two beautiful dogs, was disappointed to be told it was just for marketing. ||Position of hotel is in an easy position to reach shops and transport. Suitable for business trips, people visiting the hospital and solo travellers.||The hotel was clean but our room was small and sadly the only window faced an outside brick wall, so no view whatsoever, which was a 'let down'. However, it was adequate with all amenities needed and clean.||Breakfast wide choice and other meals available. Gym and swimming pool.

Great boutique hotel We had an amazing stay at the Ad Lib Hotel in Bangkok. Hidden away down some backstreet is this oasis of peace and calm amid the craziness of Bangkok. Service The service here is top tier. We were always greet with a smile and all of the staff were warm and friendly. Breakfast The breakfast is incredible. They have everything from your traditional eggs and bacon to Thai food with a noodle stand which they will make fresh for you. It's unfortunate that you can only eat so much. The restaurant feels like it's a world away from everything. I wished I had more time to enjoy the happy hour there. Rooms The rooms are immaculate. Very clean and well designed with modern feel. The only drawback I would say is that coming straight out of the shower, you are already in a communal space so if you need a bit more space, you may need to consider another one of their rooms. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos before we messed up the room with our unpacked stuff. Location The location is great if you want to have somewhere quiet and peaceful to stay. It's not so near all of the action in Bangkok but it's still close to a BTS station so you can go pretty much anywhere and is only 2 stops away from Siam Square. I wish we could have stayed longer at the hotel. I'd love to go back and stay there again soon.
