I absolutely love Adalbertos. For me there's nostalgia associated with this place and at one point a late friend and I had eaten at every Adalberto's in the state. My sordid affair with these Adalberto's started in Fairfield, and worked its way down to San Diego. If I had to choose a last meal, it would be a California Burrito, no pico, extra red sauce, and an Horchata from here. The California is at least 1lb of meat, cheese and fries, sure to quell any hunger. That said, I understand what I'm getting myself into when I order here. It's an old dirty greasy taco shop, in an old dirty part of San Diego. The food is hit or miss, but even when they miss i don't mind it. The service is to the point, order and get on with your day. There's no smiles and guest surveys after, just get down to business, this is a taco shop. I saw a review that complained about the burrito being dry. Uh, not sure if people know how Mexican food works but that's what the red hot sauce is for. I drown my burrito in the red sauce, making each tasty bite juicy and spicy. The horchata does it's job of putting out the fire in your mouth if the batch of salsa is too spicy, as it does differ from day to day. Someone else complained that their CHORIZO burrito was greasy. So you're telling me that a sausage made with pork fat was greasy? You don't say! Come on people, this is not health food by any means. This is not even a chipotle. This is an artery clogging open 24hrs a day, original San Diego taco shop.
