Best LGBTQ Owned Restaurants Bars and Nightclubs in Detroit | Eater Detroit

"This friendly bar is more of a neighborhood joint and is known for its karaoke nights on Thursdays. The spot also features a decent happy hour from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with beer and well drinks, live entertainment on the patio (such as a recent sand castle-making party), and occasional cookouts." - Serena Maria Daniels

Google
Recently visited this bar and was pleasantly surprised. Tim the bartender was AMAZING!!! The atmosphere was very chill with all different types of people. Seemed like more of an older crowd which didn't bother me at all. I would definitely recommend giving this place a visit if you are looking for a low key spot to have a few drinks and pass some time. I felt safe and will definitely be back. .

If you enjoy a chill time with wise ones and story tellers of all kinds. This is the spot for you. I like to kick off a adventure for any evening here and let the vibes take you away. Not going to lie happy hour food is hot or miss, however when it hits: it's all out! 😎💯🌮🥟

Quirky little bar, but entertaining. Easily spotted from the road, not very well lit parking lot, but lots of spaces available! Inside is clean, so are the bathrooms. Can get kinda busy and a little loud, but that's typical of a bar. Wednesday is my personal favorite night, Amora the bartender is the best ever! Highly recommend trying this place out.

Google
Imao Adam's Apple 🍎 is the best Gay Bar in Michigan! The Bartenders rock and the Owner is super cool. Comfortable and great Peeps hang there. I highly recommend it.

Google
Great place to hand out with friends or just have a drink after work. One of those neighborhood hole in a wall bars where everyone is welcomed and most patrons are regulars. Good drink prices, but cash only, no credit cards accepted. I had some of the most fun nights out in there and highly recommend it. They also have a small but great patio for chilling during warm days or for smokers.

Yelp
Low key watering hole in Dearborn near my hotel. Not overtly friendly, but low key, respectful, and relaxing. "Tall" drinks 5 bucks each and a bargain. Seems have free food and potlucks to patrons. Nice, clean atmosphere as well.

Yelp
Comfortable, fun, unpretentious, everybody is welcome here. Food on Sunday afternoons when the place is usually packed.

Yelp
Great patio! My friend and I were able to socially distance from others. I didn't get a great view of the inside but it looked like a typical dive bar to me. Drinks were dirt cheap compared to the Chicago prices I'm used to.

Yelp
In addition to being an awesome neighborhood gay LGBT bar, the Adam's Apple is the premier Trans bar / TS bar in Detroit. It's even owned and operated by a couple of lovely trans ladies. No bar in Chicago can say that! Definitely the go-to place if you're ts, trans, a tgirl cd crossdresser, or an admirer (aka chaser lol). The quarterly Detroit TG Invasions are based out of here too, google it! It has a real low key friendly neighborhood gay bar feel, where it's easy to carry on a conversation, not like a noisy dance club. Gigi's just down the street is a Detroit institution, and still a great place on TS/TV/CD Saturday nights with the drag show, but any other night of the week I'll go to the Adam's Apple. Better yet, hit both places on a Saturday night, lots of tgirls will hit the Apple first, then head over to Gigi's. Drinks at the Apple are cheap and pretty strong, and this place is actually open til 2am every night, unlike a lot of places that will close early on a whim. My favorite bar in Detroit, bar none.

Yelp
Who let the ghoulies out. Can't believe I stay for 2 beers. Raw sewage is the smell of the whole bar. Please call a plumber. I love a dump but literally. The bartender was super sweet and nice. Touch tunes was dated. And the queen / Manager was more gossip girl than inviting hostess. At least me and my bday bestie had something to remember of Detroits gay bars. The smell haunts my car still. If your sewage backs up, close down and fix it.

Yelp
We traveled from Wisconsin to visit a friend for one night. After looking up gay bars to go to, we came across Adams Apple. We decided to give it a try and are very happy that we did. The bartenders were friendly and fun and the owner sat and talked with us for quite some time. We will definitely stop in again the next time we visit the area. Thanks for the Midwest kindness. It felt like home !!!

Yelp
I love Fridays, simply because they let you sing. Even drunk. Lol So many people here are nice and real. You won't find that at most gay bars... most places have snarky twinks.

Yelp
Nice little bar, I'd definitely go back. The bartender I met, his name was Mike, was extremely friendly and personable. Not like others who could care less about giving you the time of day unless you're holding out money. The patrons are a mixed bag, which is nice, and they all seem to be very friendly as well, chatty. Not snotty or just sitting their with their phones glued to their faces.
