Google
Spectacular venue with an outstanding theater staff. We attended for a birthday celebration to see The Candlelight 80’s Anthems performed by The Range Ensemble string quartet, and it was incredible. The acoustics were phenomenal, and the atmosphere was first-class. Highly recommend both the venue and any performance by The Range Ensemble

Brilliant! Such a beautiful and intimate performance of Juan Gabriel’s best work. I had so much fun with my family and we will definitely be coming back again!!

A fun spot with different events always happening! Check out Abnormal Nights Comedy, you'll be bet happy you did. They bring in national headlines and local phenoms every show.

Watched the Empire strips back Burlesque Parody show Funny and erotic..great performance by great performers. I enjoyed the music, but i'm a cool '70s baby. I highly recommend it to all, especially Star Wars fan who are opened to a bit of twist and aren't afraid of the Burlesque dark side...which was the best part. Enjoy the show.

It was a quaint little theater for a small concert. Electric candles were very nice, and the acoustics were great, too. Parking was what made me remove one star as only street parking was available. My family did not feel completely safe walking to and from our car in the dark.

Great production quality! Great cast and host. The show was a really good time. We wished there was better drink choices but once the show started it was a blast! Would attend again!

Such an impressive performance. Engaging, beautiful, funny, and then some. It was everything they teased and more. Best live show I’ve seen in forever.10/10 from us! MC Charlie was so perfect!

Went here to check out the Banksy exhibit at the turn of 2023. Was a perfect venue for the event. Clean and organized! We went to the same exhibition in Toronto, and it was much larger there, and much more art displayed. But for the size of this venue, it was worth the visit.

Yelp
We hosted our wedding at Adams Avenue Theater and couldn't have been happier with our experience. The Theater is priced incredibly competitively as far as wedding venues go and made for a truly unique experience in the heart of urban San Diego. Abby was a joy to work with and let us ask a million questions. The Airbnb next to the Theater was such a perfect and convenient spot to get ready and stay in during wedding weekend. And getting to see our names on the marquee was just so fun! All in all, Adams Avenue Theater made such a great space for the vibey and party-forward feel we wanted our wedding to have. And the easy proximity to bars for an after-party wasn't bad either! 11/10!

Yelp
The ushers were all friendly. Wish the chairs were not so close. You bump elbows. But once the lights are off the vibe is cool.

Yelp
We were disappointed with this theater not having accessible parking, making this theatre inconvenient. Just make sure to give yourself ample amount of time to find street parking! Looking forward to watching "The Empire Strips Back."

Yelp
On a weekend trip to San Diego, I stopped by Adams Avenue Theater for a Star Wars Burlesque show (The Empire Strips Back) on a Saturday night. They had two showings and I was at the later one. The theater is in a popular area of town, so they don't have parking but street parking is easily accessible. Once I arrived, there was a line that started forming. Once they started letting people in, the line went through quickly. Service (4/5): As you go through the line, they were checking tickets ahead of time, which helped to speed things up. And then they have someone directing you to the right zone for your seats. You don't have an actual seat reserved, just a zone. They assign a seat to you once you reach your zone. A little different, but it was fine. Ambiance (3.5/5): Adams Avenue Theater is a smaller theater with some character. A more intimate venue is always nice because you're closer to the action. The only real downside is that the seats aren't great. They're foldable chairs, so not very comfortable. Food (N/A): I had dinner at the pizza joint right next to the theater, so nothing to report here. I think they just had snacks anyways. Drinks (3/5): They have several small bars selling beer, wine, and seltzers. Overpriced as usual since it's a venue. I went with a local seltzer. The show was fantastic and I love that Adams Avenue Theater has some old school charm. It's also close to a lot of bars and restaurants which is nice. A couple of downsides but overall, a pleasant experience.

Yelp
Went and saw Star Wars A Burlesque Parody, which is an amazing show. High production value. The venue was ok. We got tickets for the C group in the back, got there early, and was able to sit in the farthest back row, which actually worked out great for as the back row had a bar you could rest your arms on. Also being in the back row allowed me to stand. I was able to get a much clearer view of the show. Any other seat or if stayed seated your view is obstructed by the people in front of you, especially when the performance was low on the ground. Next time I'll bring a cushion. The seats weren't that comfortable either. Also, if driving, get there early as parking is street or neighborhood parking

Yelp
4/5 - great venue, not good for parking but if you're okay getting an Uber or Lyft, or making time to find parking if you are seeing a very popular show (I.e. recently saw The Empire Strips Back), just be prepared. Great ambiance for the style of show we were see. Absolutely would come back again for another.

Yelp
It's a small venue! So if it's a popular show expect it to be pretty crowded. The show I attended didn't have assigned seating and it was just fold out chairs to sit on. It was also very warm in there, I happened to get a peek at the thermostat, 79 degrees! Parking is really kind of nonexistent, but that to be expected in this area (highly recommend ride share!) Also it's pretty hard to get a good view, I was seated near the front and still couldn't see everything happening on stage.

Yelp
Empire Strikes Back. Awesome and intimate setting. We had seats in the front and had a great time.

Yelp
Just saw Empire Strips Back at Adam's Ave Theatre and unless you're in the very front this is by far the worst seating of all the other venues. It looked like they made an attempt to create stadium seating but You can't really see anything once the performers get down to the floor. Additionally the seats were like wooden narrow outdoor wedding chairs which got to be uncomfortable not to mention cramped. I've been to 3 empire strips back shows and this was the worse venue.

Yelp
Saw a movie premiere of Good Burger 2 here (core childhood memories!) after looking for some activities to do in the area and found a showing online. The venue itself was clean and inviting for any organized and formal events. The way they presented the movie was through a projector. Quality of the movie was okay, and the audio had a bit of echo but overall it was loud enough to hear. I was unsure of who the host was but she had a lot of enthusiasm about the movie and was really nice. There was plenty of space to walk around and the event space can be catered to a multitud of events which I like! Pretty cool that I got to check out this little theater on Adams Ave!

Yelp
Amazing venue. Jillian, Naomi and crew are wonderful to work with. We'll definitely come back.

Yelp
The Candlelight Concert by Fever sounded like a cool way to spend a Sunday night. I thought I'd splurge on the premium tix which cost $77 each. Waste of money. Seating is not reserved and the concert was almost sold out. They sat me with a completely obstructed view to the side of the stage. I looked at the seating chart later and those seats aren't even shown - so they should t exist. String quartet is good but venue isn't for music so the sound isn't great. Concert is only an hour which for the price is completely unacceptable. To top it off, I approached Fever asking for a refund because of the terrible experience and they have a strict no refund policy. SAVE YOUR MONEY! They lost a customer and everyone I would ever tell to go there. Absolutely ridiculous event.

Yelp
Came to see the Banksy exhibit and it was super cool. The line to enter was unorganized and when you first come inside it is also unorganized and you're not sure where to start or where it ends, but that's probably the point? Not sure, but the pieces were amazing to see in person. I feel very lucky!

Lori W.

Yelp
The string quartets from LA are amazing. Really lovely shows. Easy to walk to from Normal Heights or Kensington.

Gian G.

Yelp
Recently saw a candlelight concert at the theater. This review is specifically for the theater and not for the string quartet who were amazing. Parking is challenging and we had to park 4 long blocks away. The theater is small and intimate so there isn't really a bad seat. My issue was with the chairs provided. They were incredibly hard and after an hour of sitting, your back is going to hurt. How about getting some cushioned chair guys? Also, the acoustics in the room made it almost to understand anything being said on the microphone. It was like muffled echoing sound.

Yelp
We hosted our wedding reception here and it was incredible. It was truly everything we wanted out of the venue. The price point was super reasonable, the ambience of being in a former concert venue (and being able to use the marquee and poster holders) was something we didn't know we needed and was perfect for making our wedding celebration everything we wanted it to be. There was no issue with timing for setting up chairs and tables and the dj spot. The projector was perfect for our own ambient needs and for showing attendees highlights of our reception the day prior. The side room/lounge was perfect for a little chill space. The bathrooms are ideal for hosting a large group. Catering had no issues and probably most importantly for us - we had ample space for a dance floor. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the staff and the people involved with Adams Ave Theater - my goodness - everyone that we talked to and coordinated with at every stage of the process was incredible, easy to work with, and despite us being one of the first weddings in the space - they knew how it could work best. I couldn't recommend hosting an event here more.

Shane B.

Yelp
One of the best venues in San Diego! I've had the pleasure to host a handful of events here, and can't say enough about how easy the team is to work with and how they go above and beyond every step of the way, how flexible the space is to turn it into whatever you could imagine, and just how cool the space is with endlessly tall ceilings, historical touches, and a feeling that it is both expansive yet intimate at the same time. Would highly recommend to anyone hosting a event to strongly consider Adams Avenue Theater!

Yelp
We (San Diego Loyal SC) hosted our 2023 jersey launch party at the Adams Avenue Theater, it was a huge hit. Great location and great space for any event -- blank canvas for all of your creative desires. Plus, the owners were great to work with and provided a ton of resources to help bring our vision to reality. Highly recommend hosting your next event at the Adams Avenue Theater!
