On a weekend trip to San Diego, I stopped by Adams Avenue Theater for a Star Wars Burlesque show (The Empire Strips Back) on a Saturday night. They had two showings and I was at the later one. The theater is in a popular area of town, so they don't have parking but street parking is easily accessible. Once I arrived, there was a line that started forming. Once they started letting people in, the line went through quickly.
Service (4/5): As you go through the line, they were checking tickets ahead of time, which helped to speed things up. And then they have someone directing you to the right zone for your seats. You don't have an actual seat reserved, just a zone. They assign a seat to you once you reach your zone. A little different, but it was fine.
Ambiance (3.5/5): Adams Avenue Theater is a smaller theater with some character. A more intimate venue is always nice because you're closer to the action. The only real downside is that the seats aren't great. They're foldable chairs, so not very comfortable.
Food (N/A): I had dinner at the pizza joint right next to the theater, so nothing to report here. I think they just had snacks anyways.
Drinks (3/5): They have several small bars selling beer, wine, and seltzers. Overpriced as usual since it's a venue. I went with a local seltzer.
The show was fantastic and I love that Adams Avenue Theater has some old school charm. It's also close to a lot of bars and restaurants which is nice. A couple of downsides but overall, a pleasant experience.
