Today 7/26/25 at 10 am I called to ask if they had injera available, and the person who answered the phone was quite rude. When I inquired about ordering 10 packs, he simply said they didn’t have it. I asked if he could place an order for me, and he replied that he didn’t want to explain before hanging up. His tone was unprofessional and made me feel like I was asking for a favor rather than making a purchase. I’ve never experienced treatment like this before. Customer service at places like this should be improved. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this store.

I placed my order 20 minutes in advance—actually, a friend recommended this place, so I wanted to give it a try. But when I arrived, I was told the order wasn’t ready—and to make matters worse, it hadn’t even been placed. Truly disappointing and unacceptable service.

Great food at an exceptional value. My nine-year-old loves it. Wide variety of spices. Friendly staff, seemed new so maybe earlier complaints about staff are resolved. We’re happy to have them in the neighborhood.

😠😡 Disappointing Experience at Adarash Market located at 8706 Flower Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20901 Moldy Product and Unprofessional Owner. I wish there is a 0 here on the review. I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at Adarash Market located at 8706 Flower Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20901, and I feel compelled to share my feedback. Upon purchasing a bag of flour from them, I was shocked to discover that the product was severely damaged and moldy when I opened it. Despite my attempts to address the issue with the store staff, I was met with indifference and unhelpfulness. When I escalated the matter to the owner in hopes of a resolution or refund, I was met with outright disrespect and unprofessional behavior. Not only did the owner refuse to acknowledge the problem or offer a refund, but they also displayed a complete lack of concern for customer satisfaction. This experience left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. As a customer, I expect better treatment and accountability from a store, especially when dealing with damaged products and issues of hygiene.

I know Ethiopian corner stores, and this one is very clean and ordered. The price is very reasonable. The customer service is always top rated. The products are perfect.

Google
I am writing to express my disappointment with the poor customer service I experienced during my recent visit to your establishment. Upon entering Adarash Market, I had high expectations of receiving quality service, but unfortunately, my experience fell far below those expectations. Firstly, the staff members appeared disinterested and unhelpful when I sought assistance in locating specific items. The products and their dismissive attitude towards my inquiries left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer. Additionally, the overall atmosphere in the store was unwelcoming, with no effort made to ensure a pleasant shopping experience for patrons.

Google
Great selection of spices, friendly staff, and great takeout menu. A 6.99 veggie combo is enough to feed two people and have leftovers.

Google
The food is okay at times not the best. The store is full of most Ethiopian cuisine items. Customer service is declining though. I called and asked for the price of injera the other day and the guy at the store said they don't disclose the price over the phone and I have to come and ask him in person lol :) I put an order for a pick up ....I mentioned I was an hour away.....I still waited a good 15-20 minutes upon arrival to pick my order :(.

Yelp
I ordered the "Awaze Tibs" carry out. The wait was torturous. No one in the store knew the status. It's a cold day and went back and forth to my car. Finally my food came out at the same time as someone who ordered 25 minutes after mine. In any case, suffice it to say the meat was unchewable! Was not as tasty as I expected. Will not go backagain. Not worth the wait not worth the money. Lots of room for improvement.

Yelp
I have ordered from Adarash several times and the food quality is excellent. The price is reasonable and better than many Ethiopian restaurants. All Adarash locations (including this one) provide take-out option only so do not plan to dine-in as the store barely has any sitting place. I recommend calling ahead to place your food order. Also, be prepared for a minor inconvenience of 10-15 minutes delay on your food order, but generally the food quality and the price point make the waiting worth it.

Yelp
I shop here routinely, and it's my source of injera. I'm too white to be comfortable with the butcher, but it's a professional butcher, better than the place across the street.

Yelp
I had a bad customer experience earlier this morning and the sad part is that the owner was involved.

Batu N.

Yelp
Extremely rude guy at the meat counter. Told me "i don't have time to cut up your meat, take it as it is or we grind it, I have other customers" in the most rude manner ever. He was cutting meat for the other customers by the way. Do not disrespect people just because you can. His attitude ruined my shopping experience. My family and I will not come back to this business.

Yelp
What a gem! Love love love this mom n pop shop. The staff is so friendly & helpful. Can't beat freshly made injera & especially the carry-out food. I ordered the veggie combo. The food took about 5 mins to come out. Holy cow the box of food was so heavy; so much food!!!! Definitely getting a good ROI for your money :) The food tastes AMAZING & surpassed my expectation. I've had the veggie combo/platter from many Ethiopian restaurants, and this is one of the best tasting options. Highly recommended. I will definitely be coming back in the very near future.

Yelp
Neighborhood market and cafe is my go to. The veggie and Dorot Wot is always on point. Price point unbelievable affordable.

Yelp
Fake or expired food especially else kolo. Stay away from this place... Also food taste like rubber.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Picked up some incense and Lega Tibs (lamb with onions, peppers, tomatoes, and spiced butter). The lamb was pretty good but just needed more salt and was a bit tough. I've had better-seasoned and more- tender lamb at other Ethiopian spots in the area. I got mine to-go, but there is a small area off to the side of you want to sit and eat there. There's a good selection of Ethiopian spices, as well as split peas and grains. There's a section of pots and pans if you need those as well. If you like Arabic-style incense (Oud chips coated in various resins and oils, burned over coal), you can find some here as well, reasonably priced.

Yelp
Enormous serving of kitfo and greens for only $9, almost half what you'll pay anywhere else in the area. Vegetarian platter is excellent too.

Yelp
Very good food, but even better service. The owners took the time to counsel me on my order - the menu is in Amharic, but the descriptions in English. I ordered the gorad gorad, which was delicious. Very savory. The cuts of meat were of the highest quality, so much so, that I had no concerns with this being a raw beef dish. Plenty of spice and injera were included. The remainder of the restaurant sells dried spices, beans/lentils, and cookware of an Ethiopian bent. Overall, I'm both very happy to recommend this establishment and welcome it to my neighborhood. I look forward to trying something else.

Yelp
Very disappointed so i called to order on the phone, planning to order a lot for a coming gathering, any who i was excited to find out about this place, but only to be left disappointed. the lady who answered the phone said " i am busy call back tomorrow" who says that??? if she wasn't rude and if maybe she says can i get back to you shortly .. that is one thing. if i were the manager i would teach customer service to the workers and maybe get them fired. never doing business with this place ever again, there are other competition out there, you do not want to disappoint a customer who actually was referred by friends. I will definitely will share my horrible experience.

Yelp
I can recommend the kitfo -- ground beef that is traditionally served raw, but you can ask them to cook it rare (or "leb leb"; not raw). Adarash's kitfo has more kororima (very similar taste to cardamom) than I have had at other places, and this added a depth to the spiciness (it is normally quite spicy). It might depend on who is working in the kitchen, though -- I did not remember it being quite this good on a previous visit. Kitfo is marinated in fermented butter, which can do a number on one's stomach, so take it easy...

Yelp
I love this place! Such a quaint clean spot with a great selection of spices, fresh injera and made to order Ethiopian food. It doesn't get much better than that. I went in looking for injera and they have two types, to fit whatever you're looking for. I ended up getting the Teff injera which is my favorite. They also have awesome baskets, cooking utensils and Ethiopian cookware. I haven't tried their food yet, but I will definitely be back for it on my next visit.

Kaleb A.

Yelp
I go there often and their food is cheap and ok for its price. Half of the items on the menu are NEVER available like Lamb Alcha and Yeshente tebs. They need to address the lack of availability of menu items!!!

Yelp
I absolutely love this Ethiopian market! Great injera, fresh authentic Ethiopian food, great people.

Yelp
Great service. Good food. Like with most Ethiopian carry-out, your meal all gets stuffed into one styrofoam container and becomes a mixed up pile of mush. If you need to keep spicy away from mild, like if you're sharing with a toddler, better to dine in and specify "for here".

Yelp
Great take out. Great prices. Friendly people. Get the vegetarian sampler for just over $7. Feed 3 people. Delicious. Love this place!

Chris L.

Yelp
I love this place. Super friendly. The vegetarian plate for $7 is delicious and is enough that I can take the leftovers to work for lunch the next day. I don't like spicy food, so they replace those items with other things for me. I haven't tried any of the meat dishes yet but plan to do so. I really love injera, and they sell several different kinds there, both room temp and refrigerated. Ask the owner, Nado, to tell you the difference, if you're curious!

Lisa P.

Yelp
Good spice selection, but not extensive . Super fresh injera. Larger place well lit. Meat counter with some interesting choices. Worth the visit

Steve R.

Yelp
A massive pile of Ethiopian food that can last two people into three days for only $16. And it is so delicious! My girlfriend and I frequent this takeaway joint several times a month.

Sharon C.

Yelp
Stopped by to purchase spices and was pleasantly surprised with the prepared food available. Loved the spice level.
