Beautiful, local food served with care in a rustic, welcoming setting. The prize winning house cider is especially amazing, and they also offer tasting tours. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I usually don’t put google reviews unless I find something absolutely ravishing or the opposite end of the spectrum. So I hope people eagerly looking for a beautiful dining experience, take this review seriously (just kidding). So let me say dining at Adega do Pomar was a truly delightful experience one that blended warmth, flavour, and sophistication . From the moment we stepped in, the rustic charm of the restaurant set the tone, furnishings, and the soft ambient lighting that made everything feel cosy but refined. The meal itself was nothing short of exceptional. I had the beef skewer, perfectly grilled and tender, I chose to pair it with roasted sweet potatoes that were caramelised on the skin and melted in the mouth. My partner had rabbit casserole was equally delicious. He said it was cooked to perfection, tender and deeply flavourful, with a side of rice to soak up the rich sauce. The red wine was the perfect companion for some warm bread with garlic. Finally I’d like to comment on the fabulous hospitality of the staff who made sure we were not left to our thoughts or empty stomachs for long and furthermore made sure we were warm and cosy. A memorable evening in every sense, one that captures the heart of Madeiran hospitality and leaves you eager to return.

This was one of our favourite dinner spots on the island! Great vibe in a rustic restaurant with wooden decor. Best espetada we had after trying out so many other recommendations - well seasoned, seared and medium rare with some fatty bits. We wanted to get the suckling pig but it was only available on Fridays to Sundays. The goat stew was a bit of a letdown though because it was mostly bones with only a few pieces of meat. Skip the sweet potato side as it is a bit mushy but the roast potatoes with cured ham was delicious. We also tried the aged cider (not our preferred drink but worth trying!) and marcuja (passionfruit) poncha which packed a punch! Overall would recommend going and will order other dishes next time!

One of the best meals by January 3rd in 2026 so far 😃. Perfect for meat and would recommend ciders as they are beautiful. Piglet was divine.

An awesome place, with some of the tastiest food we've had in Madeira. The place is very typical, the environment and views are great. One of those places you feel like there's no time involved and you just experience the moment. For starters we stayed with the bread and fresh cheese. Our toddler had a chicken soup cup (delicious). Then we chose the 1kg rib with rice, oven sweet potato and vegetables. Everything delicious. Unfortunately, no room was left for deserts, unless the season fruit for the toddler, which was sliced specially for the smaller ones. One of the must try places when in Madeira. You won't regret.

The best restaurant in Madeira…. We came here 2 days in a row!!! The beef rib dish was to die for. And the seasoning reminded me of my hometown. I loved the chicken pot soup too, perfect food after a hike!

Food was very good. We had the 40hr slow cooked meat. We ate it with 2, but 3 is better. It is a lot! But super delicious! The cider is out of this world, so many flavours. Never tasted something like it.
