I absolutely love this salon! I am a Redken educator and I came in to teach a class and the stylist were so receptive to the information. The owner is so nice and also informative. The stylist loved learning. The salon is so pretty and grand I didn’t want to leave! Thank you Adel Atelier for your time, energy, and just all around sweetness. Can’t wait to come back! Can’t recommend this salon enough! I don’t think I would’ve trusted my hair to anyone but Adel at this point. I’ve brought here my husband and my mom, and always recommend it to my friends. Today I came wanting something different, maybe go a bit shorter, and Adel just GETS IT. He gave me this fresh, stylish haircut, definitely not what i expected, but so much BETTER. I love how chic I look! Thank you! And the whole team is just so amazing, do yourself a favor and come here for a haircut and color. You’ll leave a different person! Adel is a master of his craft and the whole experience from color to cut is amazing! The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair the way I do Adel. 10/10 every time both for my wife and I.

I already loved the artistry, high-quality service and relaxed, elegant vibe of this salon, but they reached a new level of customer care on the Friday morning of NYC's torrential rainstorm. My genius colorist, Miranda, heroically struggled to make it in (she did, incredibly) but when I ran out of time, her colleague graciously subbed to take care of my hair with perfect results. All the while, Adel looked after a soggy group of clients. I appreciate this team, and recommend them without reservation.

Adel Atelier This sleek, modern, upscale salon is exceptional and home to highly experienced professionals. From the warm, gracious and uber experienced owner/ stylist (Adel) to the other exceptional stylists, this salon is unsurpassed. The upper east side location, near Bloomingdales, is real estate heaven. The salon itself is so very, perfectly high-end Manhattan! The BEST haircuts and blowouts I have EVER had I have received from Gabriel at Adel Atelier. This salon is so terrific that I've recommended friends and family (who thank me profusely after they've experienced a haircut, blowout, etc. at this wonderful salon.) Not only is the service warm, attentive, professional and accommodating, but the stylists are utter perfectionists. Gabriel is so fantastic, and he listens and takes his time cutting and styling your hair with unsurpassed results. One of the best hair salon in Manhattan ! Miranda is amazing with coloring and generally with all. She is very sweet girl. and Adel is artist (scossorhands). What ever he does his work is just great. Kind and friendly .... Highly recommend who aren't sure yet to come over and try.

I'm honestly baffled by all the great reviews. I came here because of the raves on next-door -- big mistake. My regular colorist was unavailable (who by the way does an excellent job and charges about $100 less). Soon as the colorist started speaking with me my gut instinct was to flee; to say "this isn't going to work - we're simply not compatible" and not move forward with the color because I knew right then I wouldn't get what I wanted. she's very opinionated and pushy and talked over me (she also ordered the staff around like a general). She didn't listen to what I wanted or rather listened but kept pushing her own opinions about what I should have instead. I showed photographs that were clear as a bell what I wanted and it wasn't that complicated but for some reason I guess she decided that she didn't want to give me what I wanted. I left there with color that looked as if I had botched it at home in my own bathroom. The fix was better but still quite far from the photo I showed. I should have demanded a refund and just paid for the base color. Now I have to spend even more money for my colorist to give me what I want bc this colorist is apparently rendered temporarily blind when viewing photos So 4 plus hours of my life not to mention $375 + tip gone. This is the second time that a so called "celeb" colorist or someone who trained under a famous name salon has given me shockingly bad color. Meanwhile my regular colorist whom no one has heard of and who didn't train under a "name" salon is a freaking genius.

Adel is amazing, a true artist! He reshaped my hair and gave me a phenomenal cut! Whether I style it or let it dry naturally, it looks great! I decided to try Adel because my mother's hair always looks awesome after he cuts it! We both have fine hair, and it's so important to find a stylist who gives our hair life! I also want to share that it was a pleasure to sit in Adel's chair. I enjoyed his conversation and the energy in his salon! I'm thrilled to have found a stylist who understands my hair!

I have been underwhelmed with my hair for over a year and desperately needed a change. I used the NextDoor App to ask my Lenox Hill neighbors who they'd recommend and Adel came highly recommended. Coupled with tremendous Yelp reviews, I decided to go in for a quick consult. I met Miranda first. She is a powerhouse. She's like the hair color whisperer. I needed a serious color correction and wanted to come back to a lighter caramel blonde while covering my ever abundant grey hair. I asked her what she would do if I gave her complete creative control, not taking into account my current look at all, and she gave me the answer I was looking for - first a single process to bring my base back to a color closer to my natural color, covering the grey, and then highlights, after Adel cut my hair. I then met with Adel, and I must say, he intimidated me a bit. He is a master of the art of cutting hair and I'd never been in the chair of someone with his level of talent before. He talked me through what was currently wrong and then asked me what I wanted. I said I wasn't married to the length or any particular look and that I would prefer he look at my face and come up with a look that would be flattering. He said, "your hair should have its own look - having long hair doesn't mean anything if the length doesn't do anything - your hair should move and have personality." He was so right. I made an appointment for 1:30 the next day (Saturday) and when I came back in, they were warm, approachable and so incredibly professional. I had a little bit of a wait (very little), but there were only three of them working in the salon and having been there for a consult the day before and seeing how they work together, I half expected it. Miranda applied my base color quickly, knowing exactly what she wanted to do before I sat down. After 30 minutes, she washed my hair (their massage chairs at the washing station are a stroke of genius) and then Adel took me for my cut. Adel's hands are so fast, I've never seen anything like it. He made an absolute mess of my hair, tossing it everywhere while cutting, working my hair in every possible direction to achieve his vision and when he was done, it was perfect. The length, the cut, everything worked so well. It was like a magic trick and he accomplished exactly what he said he would, he gave me a look and my hair had its own personality. Miranda then highlighted my hair. She takes her time with the foils, working them into your hair in the direction your hair naturally moves to ensure coverage and movement without the stripes. She paid extra attention to making sure the hairs around my face framed my face and she took into account Adel's cut to make sure the highlights brought out the best in it as well. I have a lot of fine hair, so she worked in sections and when one section was finished processing, she'd rinse it out and while continuing to work on the next section. Miranda is a taskmaster - she is laser-focused. As I was processing, I'd watch her with other clients and I was amazed to see how she could focus her attention on multiple people in her chairs at once without ever making anyone feel left out or unattended. She has such a talent with people. After washing out my highlights, Adel took me back to his chair to blow out my hair and to make sure it didn't need any cleaning up (it did not). The finished cut and color are extraordinary. I didn't have a vision going in and am glad for that because letting the two of them do what they do best was clearly the best decision I could have made. I've had at least 20 compliments in the past 4 days and am just so happy with the outcome.

Superb, and positive experience. I went in with so much self doubt about how to approach the consult and how to communicate what I wanted, after struggling quite a bit with my thin flat hair, after a keratin treatment gone wrong ( which I got someplace else). Adel and staff were fabulous. It really felt like he wanted me to be happy and confident, without push anything on me that i didn't want. Thank you!

I don't often write reviews..... but I was so impressed with these artists that I just can't keep myself from sharing. We (daughter, friend, self) got the best haircuts and color we have ever had. Where do I even begin with how magical Adel is? For a long time, I hesitated to write a review because I always considered him Manhattan's best kept secret and was worried if the word got out, I'd have to fight for an appointment with the best hairdresser in the world. I started going to Adel for cuts about 12 years ago when he had a small salon in the lower east side. He has since upgraded to a gorgeous space in midtown. After my first haircut and blow dry with him, I knew I would never go anywhere else. I have moved out of NYC and back several times over the years for school and yet regardless of where I am, I fly to NY just to have him cut my hair. I have even sent my out of town friends to him for cuts and they share the sentiment that it was their best cut ever. Adel is a true artist and takes his craft very seriously. In addition to his superior hair skills, he is the sweetest and most personable human and I truly enjoy our conversations. I look forward to our appointments as they serve a therapeutic purpose as well. His staff is also extremely attentive and hospitable and the salon is always in perfect condition. Can't say enough positive things about this place!

I don't normally get upset at haircuts but this one was special because of the loss of many months of hard hair-growing work. I came here because of the excellent yelp reviews and because they offered outdoor service during these exciting times of the pandemic. The outdoor experience was there, and the place seemed pretty on top of covid things like masks (with the exception of the several Ladies Who Lunch who kept taking their masks off inside while spouting stupidity about carbon monoxide). The individuals working here who I interacted with were all quite nice and pleasant, including Adel. The haircut was not. After discussing with Adel how I wanted to keep things long after purposefully growing my hair out for over 6 months and showing him several photos of long hairstyles I was going for, I was shorn like an unwilling sheep on the sides and back to pre-pandemic length. I'm not sure how I could have been more clear- should I have asked for something different? In addition to being not at all what I wanted, it's not even a good haircut- there are issues with the layers and unevenness/asymmetry between sides. I called these out after some of the damage was done (I couldn't really see what was going on during as my glasses were off), and was told it would grow in...which is pretty upsetting considering how I already had all the hair I needed before I sat down! I had to go somewhere else to try and clean it up, which meant going even shorter. I feel like Samson. I can't believe I paid for this. Off day? Poor communication? Mismatched expectations? Covid? All possible. Those that don't have a prior relationship here- please make sure you are super on the same page with a few stops along the way so that you too are not an unwitting victim.

Both Adel and Miranda at Adel Atelier are masters of their craft. I have gotten cuts and colors from the duo for years and I have never been happier leaving a salon than when I leave Adel Atelier. Last year I had to get a haircut elsewhere due to location and time restraints and that was when I really knew the difference in quality of Adel's haircuts in comparison to others. They just look and feel better. Miranda has been doing her famous balyage on my hair for years and I wouldn't go to anyone else. Highly recommend this salon for the quality of service, beautifully renovated salon, and warm personality of Adel and Miranda.

I was overjoyed to see Adel Atelier recently open in my neighborhood. I was in desperate need of a blowout before an event and thankfully they were able to fit me in for a same day appointment last minute! Adel, the Owner, did an incredible job designing the salon. It's a small space but it feels spacious and you can tell the team takes pride in their workspace because it was spotless and sparkling. Their shampoo chairs were the most comfortable I've ever experienced and they were massage chairs to top it off! I also had the privilege of receiving my blowout from Adel, which came out amazing! His products smelled fantastic and he used special French rollers which left my hair fabulous for days! I highly recommend this salon and I will be going back soon for a haircut and color. Bravo Adel!

We discovered this place because our very good friend referred us to him. Adel is super awesome. Reminded me of Edward Scissorhands when he was cutting my husband's and my hair. His staff were all great too. Will definitely come back.

Adel is simply the best. He's been cutting my hair along with my family's for almost 20 years now. His work is second to none!

Fantastic haircut. I was in and out in 45 minutes and he did exactly what I asked. I love having short hair but I was sick of my cuts feeling masculine. He made my hair feel current, hot, and feminine. He was also super nice and easy to talk to.

Adel is awesome. I came in after 6 years of wearing extensions ready for a natural haircut. He knew exactly what to do and gave me an awesome shape and brought my hair back to life with the conditioning treatments and oils he made himself. However I will never go back because Gina Marie is simply wretched. She does not know how to communicate and hides behind her ego. I can't even comment on her work because I didn't get to that point. She made me feel bad about the "quality" of my hair and was unwilling to offer any solutions. I feel horrible for adel for all of the business she must cost the salon. Haircuts from adel are awesome but I recommend avoiding Gina like the plague.

I usually don't write reviews however I was inclined to describe my experience after having read a negative review here regarding Adel Atelier's colorist Gina Marie. I have to say I have had a complete opposite experience and absolutely LOVED the outcome of my hair and the way I was treated by Gina Marie! I have trusted Gina with my color for years and she has never shown me anything less than complete professionalism and GORGEOUS results as she took my hair from being discolored "banded", dull color and completely brought it back to life! My hair is rich and healthy! I was shocked when reading an "unhappy client's" review on here mainly because it was Gina Marie's method and complete honesty that had instantly gained my trust as a client! It's sad that it has been misinterpreted to be egotistical. In my opinion, Gina Marie values her work and method and it is this reason that she won't make an impulse decision based on a customer's want for a certain style. Let's face it, sometimes you can't have your dream hair overnight mainly because, well, sometimes you need to go through a process in order to achieve a look while maintaining a healthy head of hair! It is this that a lot of colorists are lacking Bc their main goal is to get paid. Gina Marie's level of expertise in this regard had been unmatched! She has in no way ever denied me of experimenting, only taken her time in achieving it in order to be sure my hair didn't suffer! Personal rating: Gina Marie is one of the BEST colorists in the NYC area!

Clear from every review written that Adel is the best. Also the six unrecommended reviews also give 5 stars. Only issue one person had was for someone who has not worked here for a year. Don't pay any attention.

The best salon experience ever. Adel is magic and he is super sweet. I went back after only a week after my haircut by the master and will go back again next week for another blowout and treatment. Sha and Miranda are also so friendly and kind. Really the best place in NY and I could live in that backyard!

Adel is a treasure. Best thing to happen to upper East Side. Lived in New York City most of my adult life and had hair done at Manhattan salons throughout - some famous for their celebrity work. Adel Chabbis was recommended by journalist friend. I can't thank her enough. Adel is FABULOUS. He has a wonderful sense of style. I watched him as he changed the looks of women from "OK" to fabulous. I loved what he did for me. I let him cut a whole lot of length and style it as he wished. Shortly after, while having dinner at a local restaurant, the owner came by and said, "Your hair looks great," Then, I knew. No phony compliments from just the people whom I knew. This one was real.

Had such a great experience here! I got my hair colored painted on (balayage) by Miranda and it came out amazing! The atmosphere is very laid back and relaxing, everybody is so friendly. Adel's haircutting is mesmerizing-it's really incredible. Together they make a really great team & I would HIGHLY suggest this place to anybody!! Go check it out!
