Coming to Adelita’s Taquería, Restaurant & Bar in San Jose, CA for over 23 years, all the way from Castro Valley, and still experiencing the same—if not better—seasoning on their super carne asada tacos says everything. Yesterday, my wife and I went back and enjoyed those tacos together, and just like every other time, they were absolutely incredible. The drive from Castro Valley isn’t short, but the moment you take that first bite, you’re reminded why it’s always worth it. Even now, just thinking about those tacos makes my mouth water. Adelita’s doesn’t simply serve 🇲🇽 Mexican 🇲🇽 food — they deliver high-end Mexican cuisine. Every dish is packed with flavor, quality, and authenticity that you can taste in every bite. On top of the amazing food, Alma, our server, went beyond our expectations. Her warmth, attention, and genuine care made us feel truly welcomed and elevated our entire dining experience. And the bar? Absolutely outstanding. Robert, the bartender, crafted some incredible drinks that paired perfectly with the food. The quality, balance, and presentation of the cocktails were top-tier and made the evening even more memorable. I have been coming here since they opened more than 10 years ago and it only got better. Love all their dishes and their decor. When you eat at a Mexican place the green salsa is the give away that they know what they are doing. Green salsa doesn't have avocado mixed in btw. Theirs is truly the real deal. Recommend this place to vegans because Mexican food is not just Carne asada and tortillas!

Really good service they have a bar also so good amount of drinks. I had two tacos with plate. And salsa and chips. The salsa and chips were really good. Tacos were OK. I had grilled chicken tacos. Might try other items next time. Ambience is really good.

We recently visited this restaurant for the first time, and it exceeded our expectations. The layout is beautifully atmospheric and exudes warmth. The restaurant's patio is a standout feature, offering the perfect setting for a leisurely afternoon cocktail. The food is absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors in every bite. The servers are exceptionally friendly, and the prices are quite reasonable. We will definitely be returning!

First time I came here was wonderful some of the best Mexican food. This is my second time with my family and the burrito tortilla looked raw and had to send it back to grill it. And the tamarind agua fresca tasted like product cleaner, with the smell that you smell in the restaurant that they clean with. And the horchata just tasted like plain milk with no cinnamon. Very sad will not be coming back again or recommending it to anyone. I will very nice people working and good atmosphere.

This place is awesome. I just had their burrito and their torta and it was amazing. Thank you to Patty the owner. She was awesome.

We took a seat in the restaurant and our waiter Joseph immediately approached us with menus and water. A couple minutes later he came back with chips and an assortment of salsa. He was polite and attentive, two things you want when dining out. We ordered drinks first and they were impressive, one of them that stood out was the Chavela Camaron, please see picture, it came with the largest shrimp I have ever seen on a cocktail. The food arrived and I enjoyed the Camarones a la diabla. If you like spicy food, this is a dish you have to try. It had me sweating just three bites into my meal.

Great Chili Verde. Best anywhere. They have good prices and great food. I have been there many times and have never been disappointed. We had to get some food for vegan friends, and they loved what we got from Adelita's

This is my new FAVORITE Mexican food spot. Great service and DELICIOUS food. They have a great bar to the right when you walk in and the vibe is fun. PRO TIP: If taking ride share, it maps you to go around in stead of making a right on Curtner because the shoping plaza is on a corner.

Quick after-work dinner at a spot my friend recommended. Had enchiladas, tamales, tacos + chips & salsa -- everything was super tasty and the staff was really friendly! Only bummer: chips & salsa weren't free. Got charged $5 + a 3% transaction fee. Next time, I'll bring cash when I eat in.

Is it just me or does the menu not have prices on it? Regardless, we ordered. It was one of those YOLO nights so I wasn't going to worry about it. Service was excellent. Free refills on both Coke AND Pepsi (NICE.) I ordered the milanesa steak and it was delicious. But the beans do look like they're from a can and taste that way as well. Not a fan. The rice was fine. My kids ordered birria tacos and a chicken quesadilla and said the food was tasty. I'd eat here if I were in the area but not sure I'd go out of my way. The lady on Tiktok says an influencer quoted her a large sum of money to advertise for her. I thought it was a cute video and wanted to check it out. Support small businesses!

Adelita's is easy to see from the street, there is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant also. The restaurant is very large on the inside with 3 different sections, a main central section with overflow on the left and "I think" a bar on the right, they also have covered seating outside. The interior is heavily decorated!! But tastefully done IMO, "i personally love it" I mean... don't blink because you will miss something, definitely one of those places were you can take 1,000 pictures and still miss things. You have to wait to be seated. Our waitress definitely knew the menu inside and out, which is actually amazing considering how many food options are on the menu. I went with the El Pastor chimichanga à la carte, and my brother from another mother had the.... Well honestly I have no idea what he ordered but Damn it looked good! "See photos" He let me try it "it was really good" My chimi was real good too, the deep fried shell was not oily at all however the inside definitely was oilier then it needed to be. I felt the price point was pretty much spot on for today's standards. I'll definitely be back to try their fried ice cream

The service is awesome. The vibe of Adelina's is very authentic . I ordered carne asade enchiladas red and green sauce. The green sauce was good and the red sauce was good, a bit dark for me, it was a little different for me savory but good. Beans are beans . The rice a bit dry and didn't expect corn and peas , but good. Definitely, recommend coming here. Over 5/5

Love getting takeout from this place! Carne asada and breakfast burritos are very filling and our go to items. They're super fast so we can often call in an order and be there right as it's ready to go. One extra bonus is they have vegetarian and vegan options for when you have people in your party with those preferences.

Came here on a Sunday night and had a great experience for the whole family - until the next morning arrived. The food didn't sit well with multiple people in our family's stomachs and we definitely dealt with that the next day if you know what I mean :/ Giving a few stars for these other qualities that were good: Our waitress Dana was super attentive, helpful and friendly. There's a good assortment of food options here. The place is pretty spacious and clean, and would be able to accommodate larger or small parties.

I have been going to Adelitas for a while and as a vegan the options are excellent! Some of my favorites are the vegan mushroom tostada. I've also tried it with tofu for added protein. The Tex mex taco is very tasty too. The mushroom vegan burrito is great when you're hungry. My friend loves the potato enchilada dish with a side of black beans and rice. I like to order at the register because it's easiest when going with a group to pay separately. It is a chill, casual, loud environment. My friends that are non vegan and I have a place to have many options! I wish the happy hour had more food options to make That a draw for me. Definitely recommend this place if you have a Vegan in your group!

Was craving a burrito and this spot seemed promising based on yelp. TLDR; pretty underwhelming and wouldn't come again. Service was pretty mediocre. It took about 5-10 minutes for us to be told where to sit. Upon sitting down, the previous check was still on the table and there wasn't a menu so we waited for someone to handle that. After receiving the menu, we were ready to order but nobody came by and we couldn't find anyone to flag down for the next 15 minutes. Food: I had a carne asada super burrito with rice, no pico de gallo. Size was pretty standard. The burrito was unfortunately really dry. I asked if there was any sauce available and was offered some spicy red sauce (not really sure what it was, but it was decent), and that helped. The most disappointing part of the burrito was the tortilla; not sure how to describe it, but the texture was kinda soggy and rubbery, kind of like play dough. Vibes were good though, interior was decorated well and it felt like a very cute place to come with families.

I met a friend here, she really enjoys this place . We sat in the bar area . She had ordered Chips salsa and guacamole. Very good . She ordered a Chavela . It wasn't complete full. I thought odd. I ordred a Michelada . It was good . We visited for quite awhile . We were checked on but, never pressed to order . Which was nice . Very nice wait staff. I ordered a Carnitas plate. Carnitas were perfect , beans and rice ok. My friend ordered the Chicken Fajitas. I had a bite, very tasty. The reason I took a star off was - the menu had no pricing on it . I'm not a fan of not knowing what prices are. All in all Good Food . Parking was a bit of an issue ( late afternoon ) I finally found a spot without any restrictions.

Actually one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. As the only vegan in my family and friend group, I'm often dining out at regular restaurants. It can be so difficult to find restaurants that have a single well thought out option, and this restaurant had a WHOLE MENU. Everything was so well thought out, I couldn't even decide what I wanted! We ended up all splitting plates because we just wanted to try everything. I LOVED the fajitas the most. The tofu was just perfect. And the fact that I could eat dessert was just extra special. The staff was also incredibly friendly. Just an overall amazing experience. I'm so excited! I think if I could add anything, the option for vegan cheese or vegan ice cream would have been the cherry on top. I will 100% be coming back here to try more. This will be a staple restaurant for me and my family from now on.

This place is always busy the food is excellent whether you get it Togo or eat there. Their speciality is anything chili Verdi. There's service portions are generous. There's nothing like a lg bowl of soup on a cold day ! There's service is primo there's always someone asking if u need anything else? I got a shock when the staff came to my table and sang happy birthday. With my flan and a candle. There's literally 4 sections to sit. Outside, 3 sections on the inside. The bar, the right side of the restaurant and the left side,From the entrance. This restaurant is my all time favorite for Mexican food.

The food is really good. I appreciate that you don't have to order rice, beans, etc. as sides and that they come with the meal. My meal was ready when I arrived and easy to order online. I ordered from their vegan menu and while I'm grateful they had so many options I wished that the flautas had been filled a little bit more. The food is priced really well so I'll be back for sure.

Visiting this area and needed some vegan food. Adelita's popped up and off we went. We were there for an early dinner and it was pretty full inside. We opted to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. There was a steady stream of cars coming and going for to-go/pick-up orders. They have separate vegan menu with a LOT of vegan options. I always like to order a side of rice and beans when I can and was pleased that both were vegan. I went with the pinto beans, but black beans are the other option. I also ordered the Plantain Burrito. Oh my goodness. The plantain added just a touch of sweetness and it was a new-to-me & interesting choice for a filling. Black beans, chunks of avocado!!, and their salsas! All of the employees were helpful and friendly. I forgot to take pics.

The restaurant is great! The items on the menu are very delicious and tasty! The taco plates are awesome also! I ordered to go! The only issue I had, is i'm a "brown rice" fanatic"! My order of rice and beans the beans were good, but the brown rice there were quite a few kernels that were hard and dry like they came from the bottom of the pot or something. Normally white rice, or spanish rice is protocol, but it was late in the evening, so that could have been why! Otherwise great!

I have visited this restaurant several times and I try to pick a different dish every visit. I have Not been disappointed at all. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, the decor is great. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I really enjoy stopping by this place for a quick bite and a nice refreshing drink, the staff are super friendly and quick. parking isn't the best situation as its limited due to its location so you may have to park on the street. Their chips and salsa is 10/10 and my go to is a super burrito with chicken. food portions are good as well. def check out this place if you want authentic Mexican flavor.

Burritos here are always delightful. They have loads of meat based and veggie options. The sauces on the side are a must try. You can also get cocktails, mainly I've tried the margaritas, which are very nice. Dessert is also great - try the churros! When you dine in, the service can be a bit slow, so keep that in mind if you're coming in super hungry. You could probably order chips to tide yourself over until the mains arrive. The ambience is cute inside the restaurant, the walls are covered with different photos, posters, art, decor depicting different aspects of Mexican culture. It is very beautiful. The prices here are great! Very much worth the wait and the quality of fresh ingredients! Definitely check this place out!

The food is second to none. They make you feel like family. The ambiance is true to an authentic Mexican restaurant. That you. We come 2 to 3 times a week

They have gluten free chilaquiles! (at least it's what we overheard from the table behind us) To start we had a cantaloupe agua Fresca and the chips, salsa and guac. The chips were warm and the salsas accompanying the chips were molcajete and pico de gallo. I had two Super Fish Tacos for my entree but the fish was way bigger than I expected and I only finished one taco! My partner had the shrimp burrito and a quesadilla. He enjoyed the quesadilla and mentioned that he liked that it wasn't as greasy as other places. Still a little oily but expected for a quesadilla. For the shrimp burrito, the shrimp was plump. Good balance of beans and pico.

Stopped by for takeout during lunch. Their lunch specials can't be beat for both quantity and price. I came on Wednesday which was the regular burrito (I got chicken), chips/salsa, and a small cup of their chicken tortilla soup. I was pleasantly surprised by the soup. It has so much flavor. The burrito was nothing special but nonetheless good and satisfying. The salsa (green and red) and the salsa fresca were very good as well. Can't wait to come back and try something else.

I have been coming here for as long as I can remember and every time I walk away having enjoyed great food and drinks and friendly and helpful staff. This is truly a wonderful neighborhood restaurant that serves good quality food in a great welcoming environment! It is a habit you will enjoy developing!

Our recent table service experience at Adelita's was terrible. We were brought menus without any pricing, and were referred to a QR code to scan if we wanted current pricing. When scanned, the code came up with a broken link, thus no prices. We asked for an indicator of pricing, and were begrudgingly brought a laminated sheet with prices in seemingly random order. We ordered margaritas and they were brought out well after we were half finished with our meals. The sweet and sour mix used is very acidic and the tequila in the supposed Cadillac margarita was of poor quality. Not once did someone check on us throughout the meal, and we had to go to the front to ask for our check after waiting 20+ minutes for someone (anyone!) to come by to ask for the check and to have our plates cleared. Dining in here is now out for us, takeout only if we decide to go back.

Adelitas was introduced to me about 2011 it has been a solid spot in the San Jose Mexican food scene longer than that. You got the classic ambience, the classic booths, the classic bar in the back and also near the bathrooms They even have $.25 90s game machine machines and also sticker machines. Food: It had been a few years since I've been there and then I went in the pandemic with my girlfriend when mass were required approximately around 2022 right before the lift and it was such a good experience. The one thing that really knocked it out the park for me was the service, the quality of the food and the *Vegan Flautas plate* , just look at the picture, it's next level! Sadly, the 711 next door just closed (12/2024) as we used to get a pre-game drink There or some candy if the line got really long bc Adelitas was packed, however, go support this local spot!

Amazing place ! The food is amazing and the ambience is great! It does get busy during happy hour so be mindful if you are coming with a big party. The food is great and so is the service. I come to the bar weekly and Robert and Jaime ALWAYS! Take care of me. They engage with the bar folks and sometimes they make you something custom depending on the day/ traffic. I recommend to try this place ! By the way, BEST margaritas in town!

Everything from delicious food, great chips and salsa, yummy aguas frescas always served with a smile. Nice familial place. Adelita's is one of our favorite Mexican eateries when in San Jose. For dessert you must have the Flan

We live close by and have eaten at Adelita's mant times. Food was always great. But we ordered a super buritto for take out last night, and it was pretty poor. Not much taste unfortunately. New cook in the kitchen maybe, but it wasn't the quality we had in the past. We'll try again soon hoping this letdown was a one off.

Delicious Mexican food with an unparalleled range of vegan options! As a Bay Area native now living on the east coast, I returned to San Jose craving good Mexican food. However, this was my first trip back to the area since turning vegan. Back in the '90s-'00s, it was hard enough just to find beans that didn't have lard in them. I set off on research for Mexican restaurants that had typical food for my non-vegan friends as well as vegan options for myself, and Adelita's rose quickly to the top of my list. My friends and I loved the vegan and non-vegan food so much that we visited twice in one weekend! The first time, I got the vegan tamale plate that came with two veggie tamales (filled with a mix of carrots, corn, and lima beans), tomatillo sauce, black beans, Mexican rice, and avocado. I loved this dish. I asked for hot sauce and they brought three types: green, red, and orange. Unfortunately the spicy orange one (habanero I think) is made with mayonnaise, so avoid that one if you are vegan. On my second visit, I got the vegan burrito which comes on a whole wheat tortilla (love that!) filled with mushroom fajitas, black beans, brown rice(!!), salsa fresca, avocado. Delicious. I added liberal amounts of the red and green hot sauces as well as the house salsa. Things I didn't have the chance to try and want to try next time are the homemade corn tortillas and the enchiladas. My non-vegan friends really enjoyed the breaded fried fish, the torta, and the ceviche. Adelita's, thank you for being so delicious and so inclusive and giving my friends and I the best time possible!

Strike 1 - A sit down menu without pricing. Does that make any sense at all? And then a separate menu with pricing? I was so confused. Highly recommend you change this experience. Maybe a tablet? Strike 2 - No more comp chips and salsa? Then everything went up in price? It raises the flag of new ownership. Ok if quality is the same. Strike 3 - Attention to detail in the things that made this restaurant are all gone. The Tacos used to be incredible. (Maybe best I ever had) The shells were half crispy but still flexible for curling. What happened to that? That was your differentiator and signature. Today there was no crispiness at all. Mexican rice not so tasty (broken rice) no fragrance and no flavor. Beans sucked and dry. Shrimp in tacos are not that succulent and juicy anymore (using a different quality shrimp too?). Fish was mehh. Seasoning just a tad bit off. Salsas not balanced. My guess is that this is new ownership and they lost the original head chefs. I think increased costs is understandable in today's environment, but you just can't cut quality significantly and raise costs and complicate ordering. I hope you improve.

Great service and even better food. maybe the best Mexican food I've had. The refried beans are some of the best I've ever had and that's the building blocks for good Mexican.

Great food. Terrible service. We were a group of 4 adults and 4 kids. After about 30 minutes our server appeared and told us the kitchen was backed up and food was delayed. One of our entrees was delivered shortly there after. Another 30 minutes went by and still no food and no sign of our server. I had to get up and ask the counter to check on our order. 15 more minutes and our server told us our food was delivered to another table. Weird they ordered the exact same items as us. This used to be a go to spot for Mexican food, but after a this experience we won't be coming back. This isn't the first time we've experienced this here. Waiting for over an hour is unacceptable. We won't be coming back.

Food is always amazing and on point. The campechana is my go to, their tacos de lengua are fire and I accompany it with a refreshing agua mineral preparada. Dana was our server, she was super sweet, quick and attentive. Will definitely always come back.

Their "no refunds on food sent back" signage should've been an indicator. Ordered their enchiladas suizas and the sauce was extremely bitter. Understandably, tomatillo can be bitter in itself but you'd think there would be some QC. Since I was still hungry and wasn't able to get a replacement, I ordered their California burrito which was subpar to say the least. Service was mid tier and ambiance was pleasant but the food needs work.

5 stars Ismael was absolutely great at Adelitas -- he made my Paloma with care, and I could definitely taste the love! The Milanesa is amazing -- hands down the best I've had in San Jose so far. Great food, strong drinks, and warm service. Can't wait to come back!

The bar tender is attentive and can make fantastic drinks right right away. The food is delicious and I love the variety. Thank you for your wonderful service since we have been coming in 2000!

Had super high hopes for this place but don't think I will be returning. This place had such a wide variety of items of their menu which was a plus but what I ordered just did not impress me. Came in and was seated right away and service was good but nothing exceptional. The best thing about this place was the free chips, guac, pico de gallo, and salsa. It was the only thing that kept me happy while waiting for our food. I ordered a super burrito and it took almost 25 minutes to get it. This is honestly a long wait especially when there's almost no one else in the store. The super burrito had good flavor but it didn't even come with rice! This is one of the things I look forward to the most and it wasn't included. It's partly my fault for not checking the ingredients but almost every place I have been to had rice in their super burrito. Anyways, I also wish they had more options of salsa. There was only one red one and one green which I did not enjoy. The last thing I ordered was the horchata which was not good at all in my opinion. It was so watered down and probably one of the worst I've had. The restaurant had lots of seating and the prices of everything were pretty decent. About $45 for two burritos and two drinks. However, I don't think it's enough for me to return!

If I could rate the service a zero, I would. We've been to this restaurant many times, but this was by far the worst experience we've ever had. After being seated, our server didn't check on us for over 40 minutes. An hour later, we finally received our food. When we asked to speak with a manager, it took over 20 minutes for her to come to our table. To make things worse, the server told us our food had been given to another table, but the manager claimed only one item had been entered into the system due to a "new system." So which was it? Either way, there was clearly a breakdown in communication and accountability. After all that, we had to wait another 20 minutes just to get our check--only to find they had the nerve to apply just a 25% discount and still include a 20% tip automatically. All we wanted at that point was to leave. My party and I will not be coming back. We've spent a lot of money here over the years, but this experience was unacceptable. At the very least, be honest, check in on your customers, and get your stories straight. Never again. We really tried to be courteous, but this was beyond disappointing.

This is a popular place. It was full on a Friday evening. The quantities are huge for the food and for the drinks. There is ambiguity in the unlimited chips and dips they serve. The way he asked we thought it was on the house but they charged for it. I didn't mind just that I would have liked to know. Lots of space to sit including the bar. The parking lot was full though. It's a nice place to go with a group so you can try out different things. Lots of innovative drinks too.

Can't go wrong with this restaurant, the service, tasty of its food and a menu so complete. I am a regular customer and always amazed by their friendly and professional staff - shout out to Robert! Cozy and warming atmosphere
